January 10th – 16th, 2022

The astrology for this week of January 10th through the 16th of 2022 suggests we accomplish as much as possible, focused and with our head down, before we get to Friday and the start of this year’s first Mercury retrograde.

The week begins with us able to visualize what we wish to achieve and then taking things step by step in a practical manner to be productive and effective in our endeavors.

As the week proceeds, we might feel that instead of a brand spanking new year, 2022 may seem little more than a continuation of some of the issues we encountered in the previous year.

An old mindset of pushing through and making things happen according to our will could lead us to impetuous actions with problematic consequences.

The sense of volatility with wild whipsaws can be strong this week with extreme ups and downs. We’ve been here before and hopefully we have developed the skill set to navigate the raging currents of these times.

The more we are able to move forward when we have the green light and halt our efforts when we get the red light, the more successful we shall be in realizing our goals and avoiding pitfalls along the way.

The end of the week has our first of this year’s Mercury retrograde cycle, a cycle when Murphy’s Law of ‘whatever can go wrong could go wrong’ is in effect.

Our plans for the future might be dented with surprising news and unexpected curveballs bringing our efforts to a screeching halt or a need to backpedal.

The weekend would be a time to stop, look and listen, and then rework or readdress matters we might have initiated but without due diligence or with significant details missing.

Welcome to the Monkey House.

Monday, January 10th – Down to Business – Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Jupiter, Sun, Neptune. In the early morning hours of Monday, the Aries Moon squares Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost seven and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before the Moon enters Taurus where today the Taurus Moon sextiles Jupiter. The Sun sextiles Neptune. Although we might prefer doing our own things today, responsibilities are liable to be calling as we start this week. And good that they should, since we are approaching our year’s first Mercury retrograde on Friday. The more we can accomplish before Friday and on days when the wind is to our back and our efforts operating on greased wheels and without the bumps in the road, the better it would be. If we have outstanding matters from this past year or pressing demands we need to conclude, Monday and Wednesday are the two days of this week when the force appears to be with us. These two days allows us to combine our instinct with our perseverance to get things done. Let’s keep in mind the words of nineteenth century poet Emily Dickinson: “If you take care of the small things, the big things take care of themselves.”

Tuesday, January 11th – They’re Back – Mercury, Uranus, Saturn, Venus, Mars, Neptune. Tuesday has the Taurus Moon conjunct Uranus, the Moon square both Mercury and Saturn both in Aquarius, and the Moon trine Venus. Mars squares Neptune. Although we might be looking to advance our intentions and engage our resolutions for this new year of 2022, we could find ourselves thwarted in moving ahead. Unexpected situations and old issues can get in our way today. Last year’s nemesis of the Saturn Uranus square reemerges throwing monkey wrenches into the spokes of our wheels. We may feel as though we are being blocked in our efforts. What we have to be wary of is trying to force matters. We could be impetuous and willful with the consequent effect of doing greater damage than if we would just back off and wait for a more propitious moment. While frustration can be evident early in the day, if we don’t give into arrogance and our perceived need to do it now, then the latter part of the day could find things operating more easily and more successfully with a little help from a friend. Before we commit ourselves to plans of action, it would be wise for us to get a second opinion, a critique from a trusted confidante. As if surfing the waves, picking our wave to ride is far wiser than catching any wave that might have a greater liability of a body slam. Why go there? Last year provided us countless opportunities to deal with the unexpected, the challenging, even the daunting, and we should have developed greater acuity at flexibility and adaptability, qualities necessary on this Tuesday.

Wednesday, January 12th – Neatly Together – Neptune, Sun, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course. Wednesday continues with the Taurus Moon with the Moon sextile Neptune and the Moon trine both the Sun and Pluto both in Capricorn. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for seven and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Taurus and before the Moon enters Gemini late today. Monday and Wednesday might prove the most productive days of this week. If we would consider what we want to accomplish and strategize our activities for the day, then we can be highly effective and productive on this Wednesday. There can be a fortuitous blend of foresight and practical application. With Mercury turning retrograde on Friday, the more significant matters we can attend to on this Wednesday, the better. There will be times for us to relax and re-create, but this is not one of those days. Due diligence and an eye on how we present things could have us fitting various projects neatly together. Whether bringing certain issues to conclusion or initiating projects related to our new year’s resolutions, this is a day for us to get serious and take care of business.

Thursday, January 13th – Narrowing the Focus – Jupiter, Mercury. Thursday has the Gemini Moon square Jupiter to begin the day and the Moon trine Mercury to end the day. This is the day before Mercury turns retrograde. Things can get a little squirrely today, especially if we entertain too many thoughts about what we want to do on this Thursday. A sense of overwhelm could have us spinning our wheels, trying this, trying that, but without accomplishing much or bringing many matters to completion. We need to be wary that we don’t get too emotional today or distracted by other people’s issues or negatively impacted by any of the craziness evident in the world. It is essential that we focus and concentrate on what we need to do. There can be miscommunications, misunderstandings, especially if people are thinking and speaking from their emotions rather than rational thought. Clarity can be a good deal stronger late in the day. Discussions can be the light bulb going off, dispelling the darkness and providing light and clarity to situations that may have been perplexing previously. Whenever Mercury is about to change direction, things can get convoluted, so we might want to take everything with a grain of salt, add on extra time to whatever we are trying to accomplish, and have contingency plans in case our own chosen plans fall apart. Today is a day for us to keep our eye on the ball — both what we are presently doing and our plans for the future.

Friday, January 14th – Fun House, No More – Saturn, Lunar T-Square, Neptune, Mars, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury retrograde. Friday begins with the Gemini Moon trine Saturn. Late in the day, the Gemini Moon triggers a Mutable Sign T-Square with the Moon square Neptune and the Moon opposed Mars. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for fourteen hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Gemini and before the Moon enters Cancer on Saturday. Mercury turns retrograde [6:41 AM EST] enlisting Murphy’s Law of ‘whatever can go wrong could go wrong’. Although we might start the day relatively focused, the day seems to spin out of control with a world of confusion engulfing us. The lunar T-Square may be reminiscent of Tuesday’s energy when we had Mars square Neptune. Whatever impetuous screw-ups we might have encountered on Tuesday could be revisited today. We may want to get things going today, put our transmission into drive only to find that we stuck the shift into neutral and are merely spinning our wheels. This is a day for us not to take anything for granted. Although we could have all sorts of plans for this day, we may find ourselves more in a maze with various delays, frustrations, miscommunications and misdirections than clear, direct trajectories. We need to slow things down and not get caught up in the frenzy. We also need to get our sea legs where we adapt to the changing rhythm, the altered pace. It would be wise to go slow today, tone things down and take whatever we are involved with down a notch or two.

Saturday, January 15th – Kicking Back – Moon Void-of-Course, Jupiter. Saturday begins with the Void-of-Course as the Moon finishes its transit of Gemini without making any connections to the planets. The Moon then moves into Cancer where today the Moon trines Jupiter late in the day. As we start the day, we might still be in a whirl from yesterday’s frenzy and the week’s ups and downs, volatilities that could have left us reeling. If we have errands to complete, better to do so in the morning hours. As the day unfolds, we may just want to kick back and enjoy some quiet time at home. Having recharged our batteries, the evening hours can be pleasant interactions with family, friends, or just enjoyable moments of solitary contemplation and reflection. Our spiritual nature may be heightened, our compassion engaged, and we can take a nurturing and comforting disposition to any and all who grace our front door. The idiom reminds us that ‘charity starts at home’. By taking care of ourselves, we are able to take better care of other people. Like a pebble in the pond with its ripple effects, our self-care ripples out to positively influence and impact the people around us.

Sunday, January 16th – Back at It – Uranus, Venus, Sun, Pluto. If we took time yesterday to relax, reinvigorate and re-create, then this Sunday can have us at full strength, determined with great perseverance to virtually move mountains. The Cancer Moon today sextiles Uranus early in the day, and the Moon opposes Venus later in the day. The Sun conjuncts Pluto. We might decide to make changes in our home, shift things around both as part of our new year resolutions and as indicative of the dramatic alterations we have gone through personally. This is a day when we may better realize the transformations in ourselves. We are looking for quality in our living, discarding the irrelevant and the needless distractions, and focusing on what we consider the truly essential. We may be ‘no nonsense’ today and that might irritate someone who is more affected by the image and the appearance rather than the substance and the significant. We are not interested in the fluff or the decorative today. Instead, we are practical, invested in streamlining our operations, and intent on developing a best practices approach with no excesses or needless accoutrements. We can accomplish a great deal today by concentrating on the truly important and what really matters to us.
