October 9th – 15th, 2023

The astrology for this week of October 9th through the 15th of 2023 might have us feeling rattled as the intensity ratchets up mid-week.

The week begins benignly enough.  Why wouldn’t it when Monday is Columbus Day in the US, the end of a long autumn holiday weekend, and Monday being Thanksgiving Day in Canada.

All is right in the world, at least in our personal world, or so we hope.

The wheels could come off the bus mid-week.  Pluto turns direct, followed by Mars exiting Libra, a Sign of Detriment for Mars, to enter Scorpio, a Sign Mars co-rules with Pluto.

Passion and vehemence are accentuated with a liability of ‘no holds barred’.  People may be even more adamant about their opinions and positions, and altercations can devolve into violent actions.  This mid-week calls for us to use extreme caution in our communications and in our movements.  Explosions and implosions might occur with evidence of traditional systems showing their wear and cracks in their effectiveness.

The heat dies down at the end of the week and over the weekend as we seek solace with a special someone or we choose to go off by oneself into a personal refuge.  We may need to regroup over the weekend, catch our breath, and restore sanity and placidity to our being.

Monday, October 9th – Pleasant Engagements before the Muddle – Sun, Uranus.  Monday begins the week celebrating Columbus Day [aka Indigenous Peoples’ Day] in the US and Thanksgiving Day in Canada.  The Moon continues its transit of Leo with the Leo Moon sextile the Sun early in the day and the Moon square Uranus late in the day.  Whether this is a holiday weekend with today off or just another routine manic Monday, we can start this day feeling upbeat and enjoying the interaction with other people.  While this past weekend might have been too much to bear, Monday seems a nice respite.  If we have taken time away from our routine reality, we could get a second wind and spend time thinking about our future plans, what we want to do once unencumbered by present responsibilities.  A leisurely brunch or allowing ourselves time for creative pursuits are two ways for us to recharge and reinvigorate.  The latter part of the day could have us in a muddle, not planned of course, but rather unanticipated developments that might demand contingency plans to our intended course of action.  It would be wise for us to maintain our calm demeanor and not get jangled by circumstances beyond our control.  The next two days demand we be nimble and quick and not lose our cool to the intensity ratcheting up.

Tuesday, October 10th – Lying in Wait – Mars, Moon Void-of-Course, Saturn, Venus, Pluto direct.  Tuesday begins with the Moon completing its transit of Leo.  The Leo Moon sextiles Mars before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for two and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Leo, and before the Moon enters Virgo where today the Virgo Moon opposes Saturn and the Moon conjuncts Venus.  Pluto turns direct [9:10 PM EDT].  We may start this day with a gung-ho attitude and a belief that we can accomplish whatever we set out to do with willing assistance from an encouraging advocate.  Unfortunately, as the day unfolds, we could get tripped up by past tasks needing to be attended.  We might feel as though the wind has been knocked out of our sails.  The swing high – swing low of this day may be exhausting as we flip from a ‘can do’ attitude to a sense of overwhelm with a belief that nothing will go right.  This day suggests we exercise extreme vigilance.  Whenever Pluto turns direction, situations are liable to be explosive.  There could be bomb blasts, violent actions, fierce storm systems and geophysical activities of earthquakes and volcanoes.  We certainly need to watch our back, both figuratively and literally.  Old structures and traditional institutions might show signs of fracturing.  We need to keep alert and mindful of the shifting sands and realize that we are on the threshold of revolutionary times.

Wednesday, October 11th – Picking up the Pieces – Jupiter.  Wednesday has the Virgo Moon trine Jupiter.  Whether something significant occurred yesterday or the day served merely as a prelude, the shift in energy this week can have us feeling like a cat on a hot tin roof with us wondering when the next shoe is liable to drop.  This Wednesday provides us a respite, a time to pick up the pieces, address the mundane matters in our life, and focus on specifics.  The more we can see crazy actions in the world-at-large as so much static but with little direct impact on our life, the less distracted we shall be and the more successful we could be in dealing with our own personal business.  Every challenge provides an opportunity.  We just need to be willing to deal with whatever we encounter and forge ahead with the recognition that we might have to alter our course depending upon changing conditions.  Similar to a professional athlete, we can have a sense of triumph in our accomplishments and our ability in overcoming any adverse circumstance.  With the energy shifts yesterday with Pluto turning direct and tomorrow with Mars entering Scorpio, this Wednesday is a good day for us to recharge, reinvigorate, and give ourselves kudos for being competent in surfing the tsunami-like waves of these times.  As the wise and true saying suggests: “we never get more than we can handle.”

Thursday, October 12th – Going for Gold – Neptune, Lunar Grand Trine, Uranus, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars Scorpio.  Thursday has the Virgo Moon opposed Neptune, and the Moon triggering an Earth Grand Trine as the Virgo Moon trines Uranus in Taurus and the Moon trines Pluto in Capricorn.  The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over four hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Virgo and before the Moon enters Libra late in the day.  Mars exits Libra, a Sign of Detriment for Mars, and enters Scorpio [12:04 AM EDT], a Sign that Mars co-rules.  By moving out of Libra, Mars ends the Stellium in the Cardinal Air Sign.  The three transcendental planets of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are engaged.  If we would keep attuned to the energies operating, we could increasingly witness how things can move forward for us with a little help from our friends of the universal forces.  This day allows us to be highly effective and successfully productive if we can harness the energy and don’t get in our own way.  Despite the intensity of these times ratcheting up, the latter part of this week can steel our determination and prod us to advance our interests and make great strides in our going for the gold.

Friday, October 13th – Don’t Fear the Reaper – Mars, Saturn.  Friday continues with the Libra Moon, but the Moon makes no connections to the planets today.  Mars sextiles Saturn.  Today is Friday the 13th considered by many to be a bad luck sort of day. Those who suffer from paraskevidekatriaphobia, the fear of Friday the 13th, are liable to see this day as unlucky with a tendency to be accident prone and an addendum to Murphy’s Law where ‘whatever can go wrong could go wrong’.  If we avoid projecting the prospect of negativity falling upon us, this day could actually turn out to be a high-performance day.  In the wisdom teachings, the number 13 is considered the number of transformation and self-realization.  Although we might be champing at the bit to get our day on, it would be wise that we take the time to prioritize and strategize our efforts.  Let’s consider our options and alternatives and then devise our course of action.  Remember: we do reap what we sow.  Once engaged today, we could virtually move mountains.  This is a day for us to ‘work smarter rather than harder’.  We do not have to make things hard for ourselves.  On the contrary, we could engage technological tools and time management skills to be more effective with less expenditure of energy.  Once we get going, there may be no stopping us.  Just don’t fear the reaper.  Karma = what goes around comes around.

Saturday, October 14th – All This and More – Mercury, Libra New Moon, Solar Eclipse, Sun.  Saturday has the Libra Moon conjunct Mercury and a Solar Eclipse at the Libra New Moon [1:55 PM EDT] when the Moon conjuncts the Sun.  This New Moon signature influences the next two weeks with the waxing Moon up to the Full Moon on the 28th.  Nothing can be finer than enjoying the camaraderie of a good friend or friends, and we are certainly inspired to engage in lively conversation with those people who can shine their light on their endeavors and in their personal world.  Feeling upbeat, we can consider the good, the bad and the ugly, but we are likely to veer more to the upbeat and to positive attitudes.  There is a great deal of talk today.  It is through discussions and the consideration of ideas that we fine tune our possible involvements.  Even if we wore ourselves out over the past few days with the intensity of the energies operating, this day might be better served taking a ‘time out’ and giving thought to the myriad activities available to us.  This is a day for us to consider all this and more.

Sunday, October 15th – Back at It – Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Saturn, Mars, Venus.  Sunday has the Moon finishing its transit of Libra with a square to Pluto early in the morning.  The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for four hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Libra and before the Moon enters Scorpio where today the Scorpio Moon trines Saturn, the Moon conjuncts Mars, and the Moon sextiles Venus.  After what could have been a pleasantly social day yesterday, we might have ended last evening on a sour note or else felt the pulls of our responsibilities calling us to action.  Sunday can have us stepping back, stepping away and focusing on what we feel we need to get done.  We may not want to be bothered with niceties or superfluous engagements.  The intensity of this past mid-week could have us back at it, intently focused on what we want to accomplish.  Like a racehorse with blinders on, we can concentrate our efforts with precision and determination and without being distracted in our endeavors.  This is a great day both to clear a path by ridding ourselves of the clutter in our lives and to deal with our most pressing needs.  If we took time yesterday to catch our breath and reinvigorate, we may go great guns on this Sunday.  So much for Sunday being a day of rest.  Traditional formats give way to new realities.
