May 31st – June 6th, 2021

The astrology for this week of May 31st through June 6th of 2021 reminds us of the old adage: “it’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt.”

This week is bookended by good times as we celebrate the long holiday weekend with the unofficial start to the summer season on Monday, Memorial Day, and over the weekend by liable highly confusing and extremely inappropriate actions. Life!

Let’s not forget this is the first full week of the three-week Mercury retrograde, a Mercury retrograde with Mercury backing through its own Sign of Gemini. Communications, computer issues, travel are among the areas where things may get a little screwy and might demand contingency plans. Yes, Murphy’s Law of ‘whatever can go wrong could go wrong’ is in effect.

The week starts off pleasantly enough. And why not? Many people may be on holiday celebrating both the unofficial start to summer and their being sprung from the lockdowns imposed upon us.

Reunions, get-togethers and various social gatherings may highlight the first part of this week. We might decide to take extra time off, especially since our returning to ‘normal’ is no longer the old ‘normal’ but rather likely a hybrid of being out in the world and of staying within the sanctuary of our home.

A sense of home and family can be highlighted mid-week as Venus exits Gemini to enter Cancer. With Venus entering Cancer the Gemini Stellium ends. We might tone down any tendency towards racing around and instead seek out good times with good friends in our own environment. People may attend to their personal space with fix-up projects and additions to increase the comforts of home.

We could easily regain a ‘feel good’ attitude towards the latter part of the week. Life may seem to be back on track, but we do need to be wary of excess and indulgence if we reward ourselves for having made it through the darkness of these recent times.

Just as life is about cycles and phases and whipsaws, we can experience such a whipsaw as we come into the weekend. We might feel as though we are going from the sublime to the ridiculous, although the ridiculousness of Saturday can be emotionally wrenching if we witness extreme implosions or explosions.

We are living during times of a dramatic paradigm shift, and it would be wise to keep in mind the Greek myth of the phoenix rising from its ashes to soar ever higher. In whatever ways we may have recently experienced and are now experiencing life, let’s remember that these dynamic, tumultuous times allow for transitions and transformations that can bring about an ascension. We could gain greater awareness, mindfulness, and a higher consciousness where to borrow from The Who “We don’t get fooled again.”

Monday, May 31st – Here Comes Summer – Mercury, Mars, Neptune. Monday begins this week with the Aquarius Moon and with the Moon trine Mercury. Mars trines Neptune. This is Memorial Day in the US, a day when we are supposed to remember the sacrifices of those who have given for our benefits of freedom and the American way. In reality, this day is seen as the unofficial start to the summer season. We tend to slough off the true purpose of the day and see it instead as a day to have good times with good friends. And so it may be on this Monday. Getting down by the water, on the water or in the water can be part of today’s experience for many people. Other people may have barbecues and family gatherings. Still others might ‘shop ‘til they drop’ to take advantage of sales. The primary disposition of this day can be one when we feel released from the imposition of the lockdowns we have suffered through and are now able to spread our wings, reclaiming a semblance of normality to our lives. As if a dark cloud has passed and the sun has returned, people may be bright and scintillating, looking forward rather than behind. Certainly, the narrative has changed from much of the fear mongering with the daily death count from the virus that harangued us for over a year. Now we have the daily promotions of vaccines, which like some magic wand will make us invincible to the virus and allow us to return to normal, although normal might not be the right term. Suffice it to say that the injection will make it more likely for us to easily travel and resume greater activities than those who choose not to have the injection. It’s interesting how 9-11 gave us the Patriot Act and now the recent virus may give us our papers. But we are unlikely to have much concern on this Monday, for this day is a day to enjoy ourselves and celebrate the start of summer. Here comes summer.

Tuesday, June 1st – Spiritual Revival – Venus, Jupiter. Tuesday has the two ‘good guys’ of the planetary realm, Venus and Jupiter, energized by the Moon. The day begins with the Aquarius Moon trine Venus. The Moon then enters Pisces where early today the Moon conjuncts Jupiter. Whether we continue our holiday on this Tuesday or we return to our usual activities, we might have good thoughts of our interactions with those special people in our life. We may appreciate the importance of people who add sparkle to our life. If we would look beyond our mundane matters and consider the bigger picture, we could be fortified and nourished. Enjoying the inspirations of our times through literature, music, performance, nature, etc., can instill a belief in the perfection of all beings and of life itself. This is a day for us to take moments of reflection or meditation and allow the blessings of living to wash over us. The more we connect with our essence, with our spirit and our soul, the less flummoxed we shall be by the craziness of the antics in the world-at-large. Every now and then, it is important for us to step off the track and get away from the daily routine. Whether literally or figuratively, ‘time outs’ from the ways we are doing life are important interludes that help us take off blinders, increase our awareness and be more mindful of the magic and miracles occurring daily in life and in our own individual lives. This Tuesday is a day for us to draw upon our faith and the awe and wonder that little children have to the newness and the unfamiliar. Our emotions may be ratcheted up significantly, and we can be moody. If we fall into a funk, then we might engage excess and indulgences to soothe our feelings. Whether we choose to see a half glass of water as half empty or half full is our choice, always our choice.

Wednesday, June 2nd – Home Again – Sun, Uranus, Venus Cancer. Wednesday continues with the Pisces Moon with the Moon square the Sun, and the Moon sextile Uranus. Venus exits Gemini to enter Cancer [9:19 AM EDT]. We may have a lot going on during this Wednesday. We might feel compelled to attend to other people’s issues, take on their responsibilities. If we go there, it would be wise to keep in mind the sentiment expressed by Lao Tzu: “If you give a hungry man a fish, you feed him for a day, but if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.” Doing too much for someone takes away their challenge and their opportunity to address and successfully deal with their own matters, and it intrudes upon their karma. This is a day better served by our considering options and alternatives to the way we do things. We can draw upon both our intuitive sense and flashes of revelation to figure out how we can be more effective with less expenditure of energy. Let’s use this dynamic time to understand and incorporate the means to get things done in a streamlined fashion. Some people may wish to stay with the old ways of doing things and can be reluctant to engage the innovative, but it would be important not to let the naysayers rain on our parade. It’s essential that we keep in mind that we are going through a paradigm shift, a time when linear, sequential reality is superseded by asequential reality where things may occur in the most inexplicable manner. Increasingly, through technology and advanced techniques, we can be anywhere and everywhere at virtually the same time. We are able to be far more productive than ever before. One of the outgrowths of the lockdowns has been the realization by corporate management that employees have actually been more productive working from home than they had been working in the office. Various companies are not looking to restore the past working conditions of onsite employment but rather a hybrid of employees working at home and coming into the office once or twice a week. We are likely to see dramatic changes to our style of living as a result of the lockdowns. By Venus exiting Gemini, we end the Stellium in Gemini, which might provide a breather to some of the helter-skelter we could have experienced over the past two weeks. With Venus moving into Cancer we may decide to focus on our home environment, do any necessary maintenance, and make permanent some of the in-home solutions we once thought only temporary.

Thursday, June 3rd – Spirit into Action – Neptune, Mercury, Mas, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Venus, Sun, Saturn, Jupiter. Thursday can be one highly active day. We start the day with the Pisces Moon conjunct Neptune, followed by the Moon square Mercury, and then the Moon trine Mars, and the Moon sextile Pluto, all in the early morning hours. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost seven hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces and before the Moon enters Aries where later in the day the Aries Moon squares Venus. The Sun trines Saturn, and Venus trines Jupiter. This is a day of endings and new beginnings, as the Moon finishes its cycle through the Zodiac and then begins a new monthly cycle through the Zodiac wheel. Our sleep state can be highly animated with indications of cutting through the veil of Maya to interpret otherworldly realities and a wide realm of possibilities. We have to be wary that our reasoning mind doesn’t cast off our feelings as but delusions and illusions. Who is to say what is true reality? While the so-called Age of Reason emphasized empiricism, it also tended to put on blinders with a perspective of only accepting what could be seen and verifiable and in the process closed out both the peripheral vision with a wide range of possibilities and humility recognizing that what we know is what our consciousness can presently understand. As we grow in awareness and consciousness, we can take off the blinders, get to know what we don’t know, and become cognizant of realities that were beyond our comprehension previously. Discussions today can be insightful and uplifting. As we start our day, we could find ourselves in harness, determined to accomplish, and ready to advance our long-term goals. This Thursday can be a highly productive day capped in the evening hours by indulgences that we might justify as richly deserved.

Friday, June 4th – Creative Abilities – Saturn, Sun. Friday continues with the Aries Moon with the Moon today sextile Saturn in Aquarius and the Moon sextile the Sun in Gemini. Our creative juices may be flowing, and we could draw upon someone’s assistance to flush out some of our future plans. This is a day for us to move forward with our projects in a well-structured manner. Thursday and Friday provide us the energy to concentrate on what we want to do. Better yesterday and today rather than waiting until tomorrow when the wheels could come off. Much of our focus may be on our personal interests today, but it would be wise to draw upon a trusted confidante for an objective viewpoint as to what we are doing and how we are doing it. Taking things in a step-by-step manner and avoiding leaping too far too fast would allow us to lay down solid foundation stones to move forward in a strategic and resolute manner. We might want to start our weekend early, but it would be wise for us to stay as long as it takes in order to take advantage of these positive energies. We don’t want to leave tasks unfinished or open to question, for tomorrow could have us questioning virtually everything with a liability of tearing anything down that has not been completed or resolved. We can enjoy the evening hours in robust discussion but again with the caveat that this day needs to bring matters to conclusion with no hanging threads for tomorrow.

Saturday, June 5th – Confusion and Chaos – Mercury, Lunar T-Square, Pluto, Mars, Moon Void-of-Course, Neptune. Saturday could prove one intense day with various pitfalls that range from total confusion to complete chaos. The Aries Moon sextiles Mercury and the Moon triggers a Cardinal Sign T-Square as the Moon squares Pluto in Capricorn and the Moon squares Mars in Cancer. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for seven hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before the Moon enters Taurus early on Sunday morning. The retrograde Mercury squares Neptune, and Mars opposes Pluto. Our mind and our discussions may seem like a stream of gibberish, disconnected with an inability to convey meaningful concepts or clear communications. We could also fall prey to heightened anxiety, seeing a bogeyman behind every corner, and feeling a sense of dread as if waiting for the next shoe to drop. Add to being mentally distraught, people’s actions could be staccato-like, acting impetuously and belligerently without any rational thought. We need to watch our back, both literally and figuratively. This is a day to maintain awareness and mindfulness. It is important that we take everything with a grain of salt and keep our opinions to ourselves. No knee-jerk reactions today, but instead let’s count to ten before any response or reaction. This is a day that calls for utmost caution in thought, expression and conversation and in our movements, behavior and actions. Far better for us to take ‘time outs’ today to release the energy and not get caught up in the frenzy. Our natural inclination might be to jump into the mix, but in doing so we would be at a disadvantage both in brain and in brawn.

Sunday, June 5th – Picking Up the Pieces – Jupiter, Cancer. Just as yesterday might have been a significant storm to wait through, this Sunday might be the calm of the aftermath. The Taurus Moon today sextiles Jupiter in Pisces and the Moon sextiles Venus in Cancer. If we escaped Saturday unscathed, we should count our lucky blessings. With both our mental and physical characteristics severely challenged yesterday, getting through the day might seem like a major accomplishment. This Sunday allows us to luxuriate in the favorable rays from the two ‘good guys’ of the planetary realm, Jupiter and Venus. Not only might we choose to spend the day around home, enjoying ourselves and doing personal projects that add comfort and nourishment to our personal space. We may also decide to treat ourselves in whatever manner we choose. A little indulgence today is called for, although we do have to be wary of excess. After the intensity of yesterday’s energies, this Sunday provides us the incentive to be good to ourselves. Let’s enjoy the day in whatever way we choose with the key focus on to en joy.
