September 2019

We come into September with insightful awareness and the ability to draw upon the support of a trusted confidante.

On the 1st of September, Mercury trines Uranus, and Venus trines Saturn. We may have one of those ‘ah-ha’ moments when everything seems so crystal clear. We can get validation of startling ideas from someone we trust and can rely upon. Our discussions could be exciting and illuminating, and we are able to present new, even radical, ideas in a pleasing and acceptable manner.

Although we can move forward with our projects easily and quickly, we do have to avoid overconfidence or the assumption that everything will work out the way we will it too. Such a belief in our mastery over circumstances is part of our old mindset, a belief that we solely control the outcome of our efforts. Nice concept, but one that never truly worked for us, and one that is far less likely to work for us in the present, much less in the future as the shift in paradigm becomes ever more evident.

The Grand Trine in the Earth Element with the Virgo-transiting planets of the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars trine by Sign Uranus in Taurus and trine by Sign both Saturn and Pluto both in Capricorn can truly ease our success in our daily ventures. But the Virgo-transiting planets will also trigger a Mutable Sign T-Square as the Virgo-transiting planets square Jupiter and then oppose Neptune.

Overconfidence, indulgence and excess can wreak havoc on what would otherwise seem to be a highly effective and productive period.

These dueling energy configurations of the Earth Grand Trine and the Mutable Sign T-Square are accentuated during the first half of September, up to the Pisces Full Moon on the 13th – 14th of September. We may feel as though we are caroming between being extremely accomplished and being highly overoptimistic.

The 2nd of September is Labor Day in the US, often seen as the unofficial end to the summer season. As though the tolling of a bell, the sense of seriousness and of concentrating on our daily affairs becomes ever more paramount.

The 2nd has the Sun conjunct Mars, and Venus square Jupiter. Our energy may be unstoppable. If we maintain clarity and keep our focus on the specifics, then we could possibly move mountains. We certainly have the persistence and determination to do so, but we have to prevent ourselves from getting a swelled head with the assumption that everything will fall neatly into place. If we take our eyes off the ball, turn our attention from the particulars, then like the ages-old childhood singing game of ‘Ring a Ring o’ Roses’ the consequences might be: ‘We all fall down’.

The 2nd and 3rd of September accentuates the Virgo Stellium with the Sun conjunct Mars on the 2nd, and on the 3rd Mercury conjunct Mars and the Sun conjunct Mercury. We may want to get on with things, ready to bolt out the door, but it would be wise for us to devise our planned strategy prior to jumping into action. If we can rein in our desire to assertively move forward and instead take the time to figure a best practices approach, then once we have itinerary in hand and destination in mind our progress can be swift and unquestionable.

Where a problem could arise is insisting on too much information. While the Earth Grand Trine is engaged, the 2nd and 4th also have us encounter the Mutable Sign T-Square, as Venus squares Jupiter on the 2nd, and Venus opposes Neptune on the 4th. Our overconfidence and our liability of seeking confirmation from a questionable source may have us running around in circles, trying to do too much, glossing over details and forging ahead without knowing the specifics or where we intend to wind up.

This back and forth with the Earth Grand Trine and the Mutable Sign T-Square operates up until the Pisces Full Moon on the 13th – 14th.

This caroming can be seen like a roller coaster of days when the Earth Grand Trine is stronger, other days when the Mutable T-Square is stronger. And there are many days in this first half of September when both of these energy configurations are in play.

Since the issue will largely be a question of effectively competent or of overly ambitious, let’s be aware of those days in early September when they are in play:

September 2nd – both in play with the Sun conjunct Mars [Earth], Venus square Jupiter [Mutable]
September 3rd – Mercury conjunct Mars [Earth], Sun conjunct Mercury [Earth]
September 4th – Venus opposed Neptune [Mutable]
September 5th – Mercury trine Saturn [Earth]
September 6th – Mercury square Jupiter [Mutable], Sun trine Saturn [Earth], Venus trine Pluto [Earth]
September 7th – Mercury opposed Neptune [Mutable]
September 8th – Sun square Jupiter [Mutable], Mercury trine Pluto [Earth]
September 9th – Mars trine Saturn [Earth]
September 10th – Sun opposed Neptune [Mutable]
September 12th – Mars square Jupiter [Mutable]
September 13th – Mercury conjunct Venus [Earth], Sun trine Pluto [Earth]
September 14th – Pisces Full Moon, Sun opposed Moon [Mutable], Mars opposed Neptune [Mutable]

These various twists and turns can have us with our head in the clouds at times with our feet barely touching the ground, and other times when we can be solid and grounded in taking care of our goals with distractions but a slight annoyance.

This play between the Earth and Mutable can continue on into early October but with a lessening influence after the Full Moon on the 13th – 14th of September.

Up to the Full Moon, we have these shifting energy configurations. If we are not run by the energies but rather work with the energies, this two-week period in early September can be highly effective and profoundly productive. The key is our ability to adapt and shift as the energy configurations change and shift.

The best-case scenario would be for us to consider all options and then devise a best practices approach to develop the more realistic alternatives.

The Pisces Full Moon on the 13th – 14th calls for extreme caution with the Mars opposition Neptune in orb of the Full Moon. Acting from anxiety or from haste might create severe problems for us with a liability to accidents.
Tuning out may be all well and good when on a summer hiatus but not as beneficial when we’re in the hurly-burly of our daily life.

The 14th of September has two major Sign changes as both Mercury and Venus exit Mercury-ruled Virgo to both enter Venus-ruled Libra. We lose the Stellium in Virgo and begin to sense the autumnal Libran energy when many of our matters revolve around balance and seeking equilibrium in a chaotic world.

While Mercury and Venus in Virgo trined the Capricorn-transiting planets of Saturn and Pluto, their entry into Libra will foretell squares to the Capricorn-transiting planets. The end of Summer and more so during the autumn, we may experience times when we encounter blocks, impediments and obstacles to our finely-conceived plans.

The 18th of September has Saturn ending its four and a half month retrograde cycle, a Saturn retrograde cycle that has gone on since the end of April through the rest of the Spring season and through virtually all of our summer season. Whenever Saturn is retrograde, things tend to take longer to accomplish and to complete and even then the completion may be less on firm ground than on shaky ground. With Saturn direct we have a greater ability to establish solid footing and a sounder template from which to develop our goals and to realize our ambitions.

Even if we have gotten back on track earlier this month or even during August, the Saturn direct smoothes out some of the wrinkles and allows us to move forward with fewer hiccups.

This sense of streamlined operations could be reinforced on the 19th of September as Mars trines Pluto. This is one of those times when we can be expeditious and productive. Our determination and persistence may be unmatched, and we might accomplish more than at other times. Nose to grindstone with focused intent is likely to have us virtually moving mountains. There may be no stopping us in our forward movement, and we are unlikely to brook any interference, much less hesitate in considering other people’s critiques. We know what we want to do, and we may well put all our energy in our prioritized activity.

The weekend of the 21st – 22nd of September closes out the summer season and does so with Jupiter square Neptune on the 21st, and Mercury square Saturn on the 22nd.

One of the key elements in regard to astrology is the matter of timing. Similar to all the cycles in nature and in our lives, there are times when things go swiftly and easily, other times when things are laborious and thwarting.

The 18th – 19th of September may have us highly effective and productive. Our accomplishments on those days might boggle the mind, even surprising us at how much we have achieved in a relatively short period of time.

With the concept of from the sublime to the ridiculous, our greased wheels on the 18th – 19th degenerate over the weekend to believing that we have a golden touch, whereby whatever we engage will also slide easily and effectively to a successful conclusion. Not so much.

We end the summer season attempting to expand beyond our resources and our capabilities. The sense of greased wheels we had earlier now may engage squealing brakes and encounter various blockages.

Illusions can be strong on the 18th with the Jupiter square Neptune. And the 19th has the first of the Libra-transiting planets squaring the Capricorn-transiting planets as Mercury squares Saturn.

The rhythmic ebb and flow of life’s cycle can see the flow of the 18th – 19th, reinforced by wildly hopeful assumptions on the 21st, turn into an ebb on the 22nd with Mercury square Saturn and the liability of not merely an ebb but a proverbial body slam.

We end the summer season and enter autumn on the 23rd of September at the Autumnal Equinox and the Sun’s entry into Libra.

The Sun’s entry into Libra on the 23rd creates a Stellium in Libra as the Sun joins Venus and Mercury in the Venus-ruled Cardinal Air Sign.

The astrological signature for the beginning of autumn has a Cardinal Sign T-Square with the Libra transiting planets by Sign square to the Moon in Cancer and square to Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn. We may be fast out of the gate as we begin the autumn season, but the question as to whether we are being self-determining or orchestrated by our conditions and by the people around us may determine our trajectory.

With Jupiter in orb of the square to Neptune and the Libra-transiting planets sextiling Jupiter at times through mid-November, we have to be cautious in regard to our own enthusiasm and other people’s encouragement. We could easily overextend ourselves by drawing upon blind faith and unbridled optimism.

Checks and balances are in order, and we may experience them by means of the Libra-transiting planets squares to the Capricorn-transiting planets.

The liability of swinging between extremes of irrational exuberance and downright despair is heightened, a liability we have witnessed recently in the equity markets with the wild swings of severe upticks and devastating drops.

These times call for us to be mindful, maintain awareness, and avoid immediate reactions to whatever SEEMS to be going on.

Following the Autumnal Equinox on the 23rd, Mercury sextiles Jupiter on the 24th. Our intended plans may appear rosy as we take an upbeat attitude towards our future prospects. We may be looking to expand our interests and broaden our involvements, all with the sense that things will work out in our favor. No naysayers for us, none that we are willing to listen to until we come to the 25thand 26th.

The 25th and 26th have Venus square Saturn on the 25th, and Mercury square Pluto on the 26th. Relationships may be a little dicey, and largely because someone could say something that we just don’t want to hear.
We would prefer everyone we know, not just our individual self, to wear a pair of rose-colored glasses and always look on the bright side of life. [earlier https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJUhlRoBL8Mor later https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NP8yHP6B4x0]

But the 25th and 26th of September may have someone bursting our balloon and dampening our enthusiasm for what they consider to be only our pipe dreams. Our reaction could prove quite vehement, and these two days are days when we need to take with a grain of salt anything and everything any naysayer might have to contribute to their critique of our considerations. There is no need for us to engage a contentious discussion nor to try and prove the validity of our goals. If someone has something positive to add to our thought processes, that’s all well and good and we may be willing to listen. But these two days on the 25th – 26th might open the door to the solely critical and hypercritical. As I often suggest, it is always wise for us ‘to check the source and check their agenda’.

No matter what flare-ups might occur on the 25th – 26th, these days also find us on the dark side of the Moon prior to the Libra New Moon on the 28th. Not to worry, the New Moon on the 28th truly initiates the autumn season.

This New Moon also has Venus sextile Jupiter. Despite any nasty business that might have occurred on the 25th – 26th, this New Moon and its impact for the next two weeks, and for much of the autumn season, improves relationships. There can be reconciliations with those whom we may have slighted or felt slighted by. There can also be new connections with people of a different background and experiences from our own. Certainly our relationships are likely to be on the upswing with good feelings shared and encouragement of each individual’s life path.
