March 2019

March begins with us a little out of sorts.

Venus squares Uranus on the 1st. Relationships can be dicey. People could be hypercritical or feeling inhibited in their relationships. We have to be wary of throwing down the gauntlet as justification for finding something wrong in our relationships.

After squaring Uranus, which is having its last gasp of its seven-year transit of Aries, Venus exits Capricorn bringing closure to the Stellium in the Cardinal Earth Sign that we have had since the beginning of the winter season.

As Venus enters Aquarius on the 1st, we are more likely to find appealing those people who are quirky characters marching to their own drumbeat. Old connections could sour in favor of the new and the different. Infatuations are fun but especially on first impressions.

On the dark side of the Moon on the 5th, prior to the New Moon on the 6th, Mercury turns retrograde. Not only does Mercury retrograde engage Murphy’s Law of ‘whatever can go wrong could go wrong’, this Mercury retrograde transits through the Sign of Pisces, a Sign of Detriment for Mercury, where Mercury’s mental capacities become foggy, diffuse and clouded. Oh, joy! We are in a three-week cycle when communications, comprehension and movements may all be convoluted, a three-week cycle when we need to take everything with a grain of salt, or more likely a salt lick block.

The liability to confusions, misunderstanding, misinterpretations and other possible screw-ups could be ratcheted up severalfold due to the Pisces New Moon on the 6th of March and whose influence impacts the rest of the winter season. Not only do we have Mercury having just turned retrograde the day before, but this New Moon also has the Sun Moon conjunction conjunct Neptune in the Neptune-ruled Sign of Pisces.

Talk about madcap and mayhem!

To add to the mix, Uranus exits Aries on the 6th to enter Taurus for its seven-year slog through the Fixed Earth Sign.

One of the things we need to avoid during this two-week period under the influence of the Pisces New Moon will be the liability of playing victim. Various people might feel that the whole wide world is against them. The level of negativity that has plagued society may be heightened with people looking at the life environment as a dystopia rather than all the wonder-filled things that are really going on.

Remember choice!

Either we can look on the sunny side of things or focus on the underbelly of life. Choice, always our choice.

Despite operating under the Mercury retrograde, much of this latter part of winter provides the energy for us to be effective and productive. The blending of the visionary foresight with practical application can achieve successful results. We might need to re-evaluate and re-do at times, but there’s nothing wrong with braking action that allows for honing and tweaking and getting it right.

This combination of the transiting Pisces planets and the transiting Capricorn planets with a dash of Taurean Mars and Uranus can be a highly effective one. We can draw upon the abstract and the concept to come up with the appropriate template and necessary particulars to put things neatly together. Let’s keep in mind that Mars is in Detriment in Taurus, a Sign whose plodding nature doesn’t mesh all that well with the often impetuous and intense Mars nature, although the Mars Taurus does provide braking action and might prevent us from going full tilt in a race to nowhere.

The Pisces Sun sextiles both the Saturn on the 9th and Pluto on the 13th both in Capricorn. On the 10th, the Taurus Mars sextiles the Pisces Neptune, followed on the 14th with Mars trine Saturn and on the 20th with Mars trine Pluto. Pisces Mercury sextiles Pluto on the 16th, Mercury sextiles Mars on the 17th, and Mercury sextiles Saturn on the 20th.

This end of winter puts a great deal of emphasis on taking care of responsibilities and what needs to be done. We are feeling the closure of winter and the advent of Spring, and we are likely getting our house in order.

We are both practical in accomplishing the tasks at hand and highly sensitive to our surroundings and creating an appealing atmosphere.

The only kicker during this two-week period under the influence of the Pisces New Moon are the Pisces Sun square Jupiter in Sagittarius on the 13th and Pisces Mercury square Jupiter on the 15th.

We can be so productive and accomplished that we get carried away with ourselves. While we could be feeling good about what we can do, what we have done, we have to be wary of taking on more than would be appropriate. As if in turbo-thrust with our abilities, we might become obsessed with our involvements, put on blinders and plow ahead with little regard for anything other than our involvements.

Winter ends with a crescendo with Mars trine Pluto and Mercury sextile Saturn. The more we can release ourselves from a workaholic obsession as we end the winter, the more we can engage the new beginnings that are promised with the advent of Spring. Out with the old, in with the new.

The astrological New Year begins with the Vernal Equinox on the 20th, the start of the Spring season, as the Sun ends its Zodiac cycle by exiting Pisces and begins a new Zodiac cycle as the Sun enters Aries.

The imprint of the Spring season has a Grand Trine in the Earth Element with the Moon in Virgo trine Mars in Taurus and both trine Pluto in Capricorn. We may begin the Spring with a focus on our personal ambitions and a desire to plant our seeds and all with great intent and attentiveness to the particulars. We might be operating under the Mercury retrograde and a strong dose of confidence, but if we will plan our moves before initiating and if we would visualize our strategy before implementing, then we could be highly effective and productive. We just have to keep in mind the importance of evaluating and re-evaluating as we move ahead.

Shortly after the Vernal Equinox, we also have the Libra Full Moon with the Libra Moon opposed the Aries Sun. The push-pull between our personal interests and our relationship interactions could devolve into a tug-of-war if we concentrate solely on what we want and lose the opportunities of collaboration. It would be wise for us to find the balance between our doing our own thing and our accounting for someone’s interests.

The 21st of March has Venus square Mars and Venus sextile Jupiter. We could be operating from a Tiffany taste with a Wal-Mart budget. Although we may be interested in presenting ourselves with panache and style, we have to be wary of the costs involved. We might be encouraged by someone to go for the gold or we can be so attracted to ‘putting on the Ritz’ that we could avoid considering the expense involved with the liability of ringing up high-priced purchases on our credit cards. This would be a time for us to be certain to match the content with the package and not overspend on the marketing hype without having a solid case to back it up. People may be enamored with giving a good impression, but we have to prevent ourselves from falling prey to one-upping each other.

The 24th has Mercury conjunct Neptune. Mercury is still retrograde and retrograding through Neptune-ruled Pisces with Neptune in Pisces. This can be an either / or time. Either we can be highly perceptive with our intuitive sense spot on or we could be deeply confused and susceptible to the tricksters, people presenting things one way when the reality could be sharply different. If we avoid jumping to conclusions and take our time in evaluating situations, we can get to the core of any problem or issue and determine a best practices approach by which to advance our interests and get nearer to achieving our goals. ‘Down time’ in the sanctuary of our home may provide us with the comfort and lack of static from the outside world to determine the means to accomplish successful results.

Venus exits Aquarius on the 26th and enters Pisces, triggering a Stellium in Pisces as Venus joins Mercury and Neptune in the Mutable Water Sign. Venus is Exalted in Pisces and can increase our compassion and care for all beings.

As Venus enters Pisces, Venus sextiles Uranus on the 27th. The sense of serendipity and a feeling of a karmic connection could make our relationships comfortable, exciting and a ‘knowing’ of a soulful contact. Verbal communication may be unnecessary, and the words could fail us, for the interaction might have a strange mystique to it that intrigues us and appeals to us as we draw further into the sense of a deep resonance with the other person.

The 28th of March has Mercury turning direct, ending its three-week retrograde cycle through Pisces, a Sign of Detriment for Mercury with the liability of our thinking being muddied, confused and the likelihood of miscommunications and misunderstandings. But we’re not totally out of the woods, for we shall still be in the Mercury retrograde ‘shadow’ until April 16th when Mercury enters the degree at which Mercury had initially turned retrograde. We’ll still have to be clear in our thinking, a possible travail since Mercury will continue to transit through Pisces.

The month of March ends on a high note with Mars exiting Taurus, a Sign of Detriment for Mars, where the feisty energy of Mars can often be muted. Mars enters Gemini on the 31st, and we might shift from a plodding nature to being quick on our feet and juggling any number of things. We just have to be wary not to play the Fool, but that’s not now but rather the 1st of April.
