March 2023

We come into March with our creative juices flowing, our head in the clouds and our feet held to the ground by a trusted confidante.

The 2nd of March has Venus conjunct Jupiter, Mercury conjunct Saturn, and Mercury entering Pisces [5:52 PM EST]. While we might be feeling our oats, able to take on the world and put our individual mark on our creative pursuits, we could also be a little too full of ourselves, assuming that everything will go the way we wish it to.

The concept of ‘moderation in all things’ would be advised, liable to be neglected. This is a time when we can be geared up to go for the gold and then some. Either we are able to rein in our enthusiasm or someone may help us to quell our overconfidence. It will be essential that we do not overreach but rather stay grounded in our approach, taking things step by step. Otherwise, excessive force or excessive exuberance could have us hitting the wall and falling into a depressive state as our greatest intentions all fall down.

Mercury’s entry into Pisces on the 2nd recreates a Stellium in the Mutable Water Sign as Mercury joins the Sun and Neptune in Pisces. Mercury is in Detriment in Pisces for our thinking process prods the heart to rule the head. We are likely to be thinking from our emotions rather than utilizing critical analysis, and we could be easily swayed by emotional appeals.

The challenge for each of us through mid-March, a time when both Venus and Jupiter are transiting Aries, is not to allow our ego to get the better of us. We might assume that everything is all about us, that we are masters of our destiny and able to will circumstance to our whims. Certainly, a mindset in which we have been conditioned, the belief that we are in control of our environment, of our conditions, and of our life path. Such a mindset in this day and age of the paradigm shift is archaic and can only bring wrack and ruin until we change our attitude, our belief, and our mindset to accept our role as co-creators with the universe unfolding rather than believing that we are the dominant force.

The 6th of March has the Sun sextile Uranus. If we would work with the signs of unexpected development, we might realize that we can make changes that allow us greater autonomy in our daily affairs. Even slight changes can trigger an unfolding that generates major transformations. Like a snowball going down the mountain gathering speed and becoming an avalanche, even subtle shifts to our habitual patterns could lead to major changes and a greater sense of liberation from constrictive routines. We may be looking to create a new sense of self, a different identity, and that journey like every journey begins with the first step.

The Virgo Full Moon on the 7th [7:40 AM EDT] when the Moon opposes the Sun brings us a major Sign change as Saturn ends its two and a half year cycle through Aquarius and Saturn enters Pisces [8:35 AM EDT]. Saturn will be in Pisces through May of 2025 and again from the end of August 2025 until mid-February 2026.

It is interesting to note Saturn’s Sign change coming at the time of this Virgo Full Moon. While its nascent entry into Pisces might not fully reveal Saturn’s influence in the Mutable Water Sign, some of the areas for us to watch for that are likely to be major issues over the next three years include:

• Drugs both prescribed and recreational with concerns about big pharma and a drugged up society
• Religion and religious institutions with issues revolving around sexual, financial, political abuses
• Weather patterns with stalled atmospheric storms with extremes of intense precipitation in some areas, severe drought in other areas
• Mental depression as people have a dystopian future drummed into them with consequent increased suicide rates
• Acceleration of people leaving the planet
• Spiritual practice as people seek alleviation from the daily pressures of earth life and seek a reconnection with higher powers
• Change in work patterns with many people opting out of the labor market to rely upon basic universal income, others telecommuting
• Restraints on hedonistic expressions with stricter morality reconsidered
• Karmic reaping with a sense of past lives and obligations to be resolved as the paradigm shift moves us from the 4th Dimension of space-time into the continuum of the 5th Dimension where past, present, future are all NOW

There will be other areas triggered by Saturn in Pisces, but the above provide a thumbnail sketch of what we might experience with Saturn in Pisces.

With Saturn entering Pisces, the Pisces Stellium is reinforced with Saturn joining the Sun, Mercury and Neptune in the Mutable Water Sign. Our sensitivity is ratcheted up. Each of us will have the choice, as we always do, to either lift our eyes to the far horizons of what could be heaven on earth or stare down at what is presented to us as a most challenging time with a negative mindset that stirs anxiety, concern and depression. Our choice, always our choice.

The 11th of March has Venus sextile Mars, and Mercury sextile Uranus. By maintaining a positive attitude, no matter how the conditions may appear, and by engaging with upbeat people, our disposition can make us aware of insights and ‘ah-ha’ moments providing us both the determination and the streamlined ways by which to accomplish our goals. This is a time when we might be operating on all cylinders and not a time to waste. We don’t have to push the envelope and try too hard but rather take advantage of the opportunities and the wonderful surprises that we might become exposed to.

The thing about life is that we deal with cycles and wave-like patterns. There are days when we may be riding the crest of the wave, other days when we are body slammed by the crashing wave.

The 11th of March may be a primo day for us, the 14th less so. Mars squares Neptune on the 14th of March. Perhaps we become so enamored with the energies on the 11th that we go into automatic, become oblivious to conditions, and push the envelope on the 14th. We have to be wary on the 14th of reckless behavior, rash actions, and trying to do what we want to do without considering the circumstances in which we are operating. The 14th can be a day when we are liable to be accident prone and a day for us to ‘slow down, you move too fast’.

The Sun conjuncts Neptune on the 15th of March. It would be wise for us to take the time to reflect, meditate, contemplate. Today is a day for us to consider what we need to pare down in order for us to be more spiritually attuned to what our true journey in this life experience is all about. One of the things we might have realized during the lockdowns is the fact that we do not need a great deal of distractions and diversions in our living. Living simply has its own rewards both in regard to a lower maintenance lifestyle so that we are not run by our possessions and in providing more space to spontaneously do activities that have true meaning for us.

The 16th and 17th of March have a great deal of energy but much of it convoluted. The 16th has the Sun square Mars, Mercury conjunct Neptune, and Venus square Pluto just before Venus exits Aries to enter its own Sign of Taurus [6:34 PM EDT]. The 17th has Mercury square Mars, Sun conjunct Mercury, and Venus sextile Saturn.

There are times when we go from the sublime to the ridiculous, and so it may be during this period of Mach 15th through the 17th. We might have figured out what really speaks to us, done a mental or physical inventory taking, to focus on the truly meaningful. And then like a metronome, we might have swung back to stuff, feeling the need to gird our loins by acquiring more… stuff. Some of our choices might not be the wisest. Perhaps something is happening in the world that scares the bejeebers out of us, and like preppers we are looking to satiate our fears and concerns with buying… stuff.

If we refuse to get caught up in the craziness occurring in the world-at-large and retreat emotionally and mentally, perhaps even physically, into our happy, safe space, we can look at what is happening in a detached, objective manner as Mercury sextiles Pluto on the 18th.

Instead of allowing our emotions rule our head, we might dissect what is being presented to us, cut to the core, to see what is really going on and then deal with the situation in a logical, rational manner.

Let’s keep in mind that our being ruled by our emotions, rather than our critical thinking, opens us to being preyed upon and manipulated.

As we close out the winter season, Mercury exits Pisces and enters Aries on the 19th [12:24 AM EDT]. Mercury is in Detriment in Pisces, where our thinking process is emotionally based rather than rational. Our heart rules our head. With Mercury entering Aries, followed on the 20th with the Sun entering Aries at the Vernal Equinox, we now have a Stellium in Aries with an emphasis upon an astrological new year and a time for us to more fully initiate our new beginnings.

The last day of the winter season is the 20th, also the day when later in the day we enter the spring season at the Vernal Equinox. Before we get to spring, the Pisces Sun sextiles Pluto on the 20th. Similar to the 15th and earlier days this winter season, we have the opportunity of considering the truly meaningful, our true life purpose and what we consider to be the quality in our living, before we launch forward into the new astrological year.

Shortly after the Sun sextiles Pluto on the 20th, the Sun moves into Aries at the Vernal Equinox [5:25 PM EDT] to launch the spring season. We are entering the season of rebirth, renewal and new beginnings. In astrology, we recognize the entry of the Sun into Aries to initiate an astrological new year as the Sun begins a new cycle around the zodiac wheel.

A season truly begins with the New Moon in that Cardinal Sign, and the Aries New Moon is on the 21st [1:23 PM EDT] when the Aries Moon conjuncts the Sun. No matter the weather, ‘spring fever’ may be contagious with each of us looking to initiate projects, begin new developments, and focus on our personal interests.

A sense of endings and beginnings can be strong as we end one astrological year and begin a new one, a sense of transformation made even greater with the exit of Pluto out of Capricorn and Pluto’s entry into Aquarius on the 23rd [8:13 AM EDT]. Pluto will be in Aquarius until March of 2043, except for a few interruptions to the Aquarius transit this year and next year when Pluto retrogrades back into Capricorn.

Just as Pluto’s entry into Capricorn back in 2008 triggered a massive transformation, at that time in 2008 the liable collapse of the global financial system, Pluto’s entry into Aquarius could also upset various applecarts.

When Pluto last transited Aquarius between 1778 and 1798, before humankind was even aware of the Pluto influence, the Aquarian cries for independence, liberty and equality triggered political and social upheaval evidenced by the Revolutionary War in America and the French Revolution in France. Assassinations of notable figures occurred. Turmoil and social unrest were strong during this period, as they are in any period of dramatic transformation, and something we might encounter over these next twenty years.

That period of the earlier transit of Aquarius by Pluto also offered a time of scientific discoveries and mechanical advances that foreshadowed the Industrial Revolution. Discoveries of nitrogen and oxygen and the planet Uranus [co-ruler of Aquarius] were discovered by humankind. Significant innovative advances paving the way for the Industrial Revolution were seen in the inventions of the steam engine, the cotton gin, the spinning machine, the electric battery, and the pneumatic tire among the many imaginative creations that reflected a changing world.

For us as we encounter Pluto in Aquarius we may realize being on the threshold of a Technological Age, a time of advances in artificial intelligence, in the healing realms of light, sound and frequencies, in an ascended consciousness and the collapse of space – time limitations as we encounter the NOW where past, present, future are all NOW. We may come to recognize life forms other than those of which we are familiar and a cosmic connection with life teeming throughout the universe. Communication through telepathy and the development of our senses can heighten our awareness and expand our understanding of life and the true purpose of our living.

Energy is energy, and it can be used in positive ways and in negative ways. The downside of Pluto in Aquarius can be the egocentric control of new technologies and new understandings. Already we have seen indications of the negative use of frequencies. Like a real-life video game, war can be operated by drones and from the comfort of an armchair thousands of miles away from the combat zone. Tasers are able to disarm individuals and bring them to their knees. The surveillance state can track our every step, our every move. Information may become merely an accepted narrative, no longer true scientific enquiry. What we ingest and take into ourselves might even be used to control our thoughts and our behavior. Artificial intelligence in its devouring of knowledge and its accelerated learning could eventually control humankind with the robots becoming our masters and humankind supplanted by computerization.

The opportunity of heaven on earth or the challenges of a brave new world awaits us. We may well carom between the two during Pluto’s transit through Aquarius. These next three months will give us an indication as to what we are in for over the next twenty years.

The 25th of March has Mars ending its seven-month transit of Gemini as Mars exits Gemini and enters Cancer [7:45 AM EDT]. While Mars is in its Fall in Cancer, the Mars transit of Cancer might provide welcome relief from the hijinks while Mars was in Gemini. The Mars in Gemini had people shooting from the lip, saying things aggressively before even thinking them through. The driving was like being either on the speedway at Daytona or on bumper cars. Even more than usual, people were weaving between lanes, using red lights and stops signs as optional, with a tendency to have the pedal to the metal.

With Mars in Cancer, things can be toned down, less aggressive, although with a liability of surreptitious actions. Passive-aggressive behavior cannot be ruled out. On a more positive note, the Mars in Cancer may favor attention to our living environment with home projects engaged and increased interest in residential sales bumping up the flagging housing market. Spring cleanups might be initiated, and plans made for family get-togethers discussed.

Our confidence, enthusiasm and optimism can all be heightened on the 28th when Mercury conjuncts Jupiter. We are likely to be in a playful mood, our creative juices flowing, and looking for outlets in which we could shout from the rooftops: “I gotta be me!”

Spring is upon us and we may truly be feeling the burst of renewal and rebirth which is the hallmark and promise of the spring season. No Debbie Downer or Eeyores for us. We are scintillating and resplendent in the warmth of our inner sun and spreading sunshine wherever we go. Isn’t it amazing how upbeat, inspiring, and happy people can lift our spirits? This is a time when the ‘feel good’ attitudes are likely to be in full force, no matter the craziness of the powers-that-be.

The 30th of March closes out the month with Mars trine Saturn and Venus conjunct Uranus. Although it does not necessitate our preparing our surroundings as if we were hunkering down in our bunker, we could be straightening things up around our home base, continuing with our to-do projects, and buying the necessary equipment to streamline our operations. Even if we have our head down and eyes to the ground, we might be privy to some interesting and unexpected developments, indications of this paradigm shift with incidents of magic and miracles. Serendipity may be in play where we find ourselves somehow being in the right place at the right time.

March 2023… seatbelts required for the ride of your life…
