October 18th – 24th, 2021

The astrology for this week of October 18th through the 24th of 2021 can have us fast out of the gate and accelerating into overdrive.

The week begins with both Jupiter [1:30 AM EDT] and Mercury [11:17 AM EDT] turning direct on Monday. We started this month of October with six retrograde planets, and with Monday’s shift in direction of two of the planets, we now just have Uranus and Neptune retrograde.

Not only does this forward movement allow for more expeditious actions, less cluttered thoughts and less muddled efforts. Turning up the heat occurs with Wednesday’s Aries Full Moon [10:57 AM EDT] with its Cardinal Sign T-Square. We may experience explosions and implosions, and we are likely to witness incidents of rage against the machine.

The second half of the week calls for us to be careful out there. Nothing is likely done in half measure, and the intensity can be like unleashing the Kraken.

The influence of the Mars Pluto square at the Full Moon is exact towards the end of the week. And we also have our year’s nemesis of the Saturn Uranus square triggered. Various push – pulls could give way to sudden and dramatic releases. This is a week that calls for, really demands, that we maintain awareness, be mindful and vigilant to the energies unfolding, although the unfolding may be more like an extreme snapping whipsaw.

The weekend on Saturday has the Sun exiting Libra to enter Scorpio [12:51 AM EDT]. While the weekend would be a good time for us to cleanup and clear out in a good autumn cleanse in preparation of the winter ahead, we could find ourselves dithering about, doing a little here, a little there, but possibly getting various things started but with little completion, if any.

Monday, October 18th – Head Out on the Highway – Saturn, Mars, Jupiter, Jupiter direct, Mercury direct. Early on this Monday, the Moon exits Pisces to begin a new monthly cycling through the Zodiac as the Moon enters Aries, where late today the Moon sextiles Saturn. Mars trines Jupiter with Jupiter today having ended a four-month retrograde cycle and turned direct [1:30 AM EDT]. Mercury ends its three-week retrograde cycle and turns direct [11:17 AM EDT]. The intense shift in energy on this Monday can have us operating at full speed with flags flying, highly confident and optimistic about where we are going. Even if we aren’t fully clear about our direction or our itinerary, we are still likely to have the pedal to the metal. We might feel as if a heavy weight has been lifted from us, and to some degree it has. It would be wise for us not to merely speed ahead, but rather to slow down, and apply the brakes occasionally, in order to prevent crashes from ill-timing or the ill-conceived. Let’s enjoy the day and this major shift in energy, but moderation is advised. Although our penchant will be to go for the gold, we could be more attuned to right action and right choices later in the day. We may have an incredible thrust of energy to begin this day, but it would be wise for us to temper our enthusiasm all the while that we are ready to launch forward with great confidence and with encouragement from our friend[s].

Tuesday, October 19th – More About Me than You – Mercury, Venus. Tuesday continues with the Aries Moon with the Moon today opposed Mercury and the Moon sextile Venus. Our creative juices could be flowing, and we might wish to stand out rather than fit in. We are willing to engage other people but only if they choose to encourage us and be our advocates. This day may be more about ourselves rather than other people, a juxtaposition of interests that could be highlighted by tomorrow’s Aries Full Moon. Although our focus can largely be our doing our own thing today, let’s avoid stepping on toes. If people are not enthusiastic about our projects or accepting of our behavior, we are liable to look elsewhere for that support. Today and tomorrow could have our relationships a little dicey. We might be too self-focused, self-absorbed and oblivious to someone else’s needs. Let’s try and be collaborative and appreciate what other people add to our life experience. We need to keep in mind that we are social animals. Even if we have been comfortable with the self-isolation as a result of the imposed lockdowns, our interactions with other people round out our lives, providing perspectives of which we are unfamiliar and offering companionship with the recognition of us all being in the boat.

Wednesday, October 20th – Fasten your Seat Belts – Jupiter, Lunar T-Square, Mars, Pluto, Aries Full Moon, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. Wednesday is often considered ‘hump day’ coming as it does in the mid-week of the work week. Today could be more like a staggering elevation thanks to the possible intensity of this day. The day begins with the Aries Moon sextile Jupiter. We might be in a great space as we start this day, but our enthusiasm could lead to adding fuel to the fire, for the Moon then triggers a Cardinal Sign T-Square with the Aries Moon being a Full Moon [10:57 AM EDT] with the Moon’s opposition to the Sun and also to Mars, and the Moon square Pluto. After the Full Moon the Moon goes Void-of-Course for five hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before the Moon enters Taurus later in the day. This day demands braking action, although once in gear we could be thrust into overdrive. With a Mars Pluto square engaged and exact on Friday, these next few days might have us hellbent, pushing the envelope, tearing things down, with a jaded and critical eye to everything and everyone. Like a volcano with its steam vents, we need to release our energy methodically or we are liable to suffer extreme actions akin to explosions or implosions. Today through Friday are days to tread carefully, avoid kneejerk reactions, and temper our behavior. We may have a great deal of energy, but similar to a shooting star we could light up the sky only to burn ourselves out.

Thursday, October 21st – Nemesis Again – Saturn, Uranus. Thursday has the Taurus Moon with the Moon triggering our year’s nemesis of the Saturn Uranus square. The Moon squares Saturn, and the Moon conjuncts Uranus. This year is all about the push – pull between old and new, between authoritarian restrictions and individual liberties, between the good and the not-so-good of our advancing technological age. We are likely to experience this Saturn Uranus square as a confusing time when ‘tried and true’ are no longer true, even if still tried. Whether we put on the brakes or we find ourselves stalled, delays and frustrations may be daunting but also allow us to consider a different way. Let’s bear in mind that much of the structures we once considered infallible and invincible are showing the wear and tear indicative of the outmoded or wrong action. We are seeing the various indications of dysfunctionality in many of our society characteristics with inflation skyrocketing, supply chain distribution problems, labor shortages due to universal basic income, a fear-provoking virus that mutates, and other collateral issues that keep on coming. In our individual lives, we are being asked to take inventory of everything that we had previously relied upon, to rid ourselves of those things that no longer serve us, and to be especially adapt at flexibility and willingness to consider our options. Even if we feel as though much is crashing and burning around us, we have the challenge and the opportunity to build our lives anew or to rebuild in a different fashion. Caroming may be dizzying, but it might also be the only way for us to institute necessary changes in our life.

Friday, October 22nd – Tread Carefully – Neptune, Jupiter, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars. The Taurus Moon on this Friday sextiles Neptune, the Moon squares Jupiter, and the Moon trines Pluto before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for twelve and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Taurus and before the Moon enters Gemini early on Saturday morning. Mars squares Pluto. We might be guided by our hopes and wishes, which to the extreme could prove to be fantasies and illusions. With the intensity heightened this week, this day asks us to continue our braking action, slow things down and not make assumptions based merely upon appearances. What we see might not be the true reality of the situation. The Mars square Pluto that we felt during the Full Moon on Wednesday is magnified with liabilities to people acting out, irrational and reactive behavior, explosions, implosions and all varieties of extreme actions. Even the natural world could react by means of increased earthquake and volcanic activity and exaggerated storm systems. Back problems and support structures might plague us. This is a day for us to take nothing for granted, temper our approach, and try to keep focused despite the possibility of incidents diverting our attention. More so than ever, this is a day that calls us to be careful out there.

Saturday, October 23rd – Switching Gears – Saturn, Sun Scorpio. The Moon moves into Gemini where later in the day the Moon trines Saturn. The Sun exits Libra, ending the Stellium of three planets in Libra, to enter Scorpio [12:51 AM EDT]. Evening hours spent with a good and trusted friend[s] can provide pleasant conversations and incisive discussions of future intentions. More so than ever before, we might draw upon other people as a solid grounding rod to keep us on track and dispel any thoughts that we ourselves are getting as crazy as the antics in the world-at-large. The movement of the Sun into Scorpio could have us turning more inward, considering what the essential ingredients in our life truly area, and eliminating the worthless from our lives. We do need to bear in mind that the Sun’s entrance into Scorpio triggers by Sign a Fixed Sign T-Square with our year’s nemesis of the Saturn in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus. This T-Square will be in effect into mid-December with the Sun, followed by Mercury and then Mars transiting the Fixed Water Sign of Scorpio. We are switching gears with the push – pulls increased, triggering delays and frustrations along with unexpected and swift changes. It’s time for major inventory taking and ridding ourselves of those situations that no longer work for us. The intensity of these disruptive times may ratchet up, but the dynamic nature allows us to make alterations suddenly and swiftly.

Sunday, October 24th – Helter-Skelter – Mercury, Lunar T-Square, Venus, Neptune. The Gemini Moon begins the day with the Moon trine Mercury. Late in the day, the Moon triggers a Mutable Sign T-Square as the Moon opposes Venus and the Moon squares Neptune. We may start this Sunday enthused, focused and encouraged by someone. We seem far more determined in doing what we feel we need to get done. As the day unfolds, we have to be wary of putting too much into the mix, losing our concentration, and getting engrossed in various diversions and distractions. Our attentiveness earlier in the day can dramatically shift into an ungrounded and unrealistic perspective of what we can do and what we should do. We might move into a dizzying array of people, things and situations as if we were on a carousel spinning around and with the carousel picking up speed. This would be a good day for us to make a plan of action and try to stick to it in order to avoid a liability of going helter-skelter into the night.
