The astrology for this week of September 18th through the 24th of 2023 can have us on a real whipsaw between clarity and confusion, between focused productivity and dissipating distractions as we end the summer season and come into autumn.
The week begins with us likely to be intense and focused, working smarter rather than harder. The more we can devise our game plan for the week at the beginning of the week, the less liable we are to being thrown off course by various distractions or confusing situations.
This roller coaster of a week can go from being highly effective to getting stuck in neutral, wasting our resources, before being freed to become focused but then tending to take on too much. Back and forth this week we might seem to go like an accordion with expansion then contraction, an unnerving rhythmic pace that keeps us on our toes but dazed and confused with moments of brilliance and a ‘can do’ attitude.
The weekend enters us into autumn and a weekend that can have us at the top of our game for effectiveness and astutely taking care of business.
This week demands that we be aware, mindful, and patient as we encounter various twists and turns along the way. But perhaps by now we should be used to the ‘new normal’ of this paradigm shift with turbulent and tumultuous incidents along our way.
Monday, September 18th – Planning before Implementation – Saturn, Mercury. Monday has the Moon entering Scorpio where today the Scorpio Moon trines Saturn in the morning and the Moon sextiles Mercury later in the day. Strategic planning goes a long way to our being effective and productive, and this Monday is a day for us to plan out our week with the Taoist admonition to ‘bend like a reed or break like an oak’. The more we give concentrated thought to our schedule for this week with contingency plans in mind in case unexpected developments arise, the greater our success during this roller coaster kind of week with its ups and downs, clarity and confusion, greased wheels and rubbled pathways. The Earth Grand Trine is in effect with a focus on the kite pattern chart with Neptune in Pisces. We can be highly effective and productive during this time if we avoid getting distracted or being flummoxed by questioning our abilities. By planning before implementing, we could assuage our concerns. During these times of volatility and unanticipated occurrences it is wise for us to write our plans in pencil with a large eraser. Now are not times for us to be locked into solid commitments or expectations that everything will work out in accord with our intentions. Flexibility and adaptability are key characteristics during this paradigm shift and would also prevent us from becoming catatonic when significant changes occur to conditions and our circumstance.
Tuesday, September 19th – Going Against the Grain – Lunar T-Square, Jupiter, Venus, Uranus, Sun, Neptune. Tuesday continues with the Scorpio Moon with the Moon today triggering a Fixed Sign T-Square with the Moon square Venus in Leo, and the Moon opposed both Jupiter and Uranus both in Taurus. The Sun opposes Neptune. We might experience a Sisyphus-like sense as we try to get things done with the liability of pushback in whatever we try to do. We are liable to feel frustrated today as if knocked back and with little awareness as to what to do to resolve our consternation. Let’s avoid the imagined panacea of the powers-that-be of throwing money at an issue with the expectation that such an action will resolve the problem. Very rarely does it, and it might certainly not work for us even if we do. With the two ‘good guys’ of the planetary realm, Venus and Jupiter, engaged, we might want we want, may be willing to invest heavily in our desires, only to find that it comes to little or no avail. The interesting thing is that no matter what we do, how we do it, or even if we see some movement forward, unanticipated developments late in the day could see our efforts as being futile. This day is better served in taking things step-by-step without expectation and without beating ourselves up if we encounter frustrations or disappointments. This Tuesday perhaps is a day to hang out the sing ‘gone fishing’ or just hideout in our refuge of sanctuary.
Wednesday, September 20th – Unbound, Unfettered – Neptune, Sun, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Saturn. Wednesday has the Moon completing its transit of Scorpio with the Scorpio Moon trine Neptune, the Moon sextile the Sun, and the Moon sextile Pluto all early in the day. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over three and a half hours as the Moon finishes its transit of Scorpio without making any further connections to the planets and before the Moon enters Sagittarius where today the Sagittarius Moon squares Saturn. During these times of paradigm shift, the volatility is extreme. We can be happy and capable one moment, only to feel disconsolate with the wind knocked out of our sails the next moment. Hopefully, we lowered our expectations for yesterday, even took some ‘mental health’ time for ourselves as we contended with liable roadblocks along our way. Wednesday shifts the energy significantly. Not only does this Wednesday give us a ‘can do’ attitude, but things seem to fit neatly into place. A little elbow grease, perseverance and seeing yesterday as water under the bridge could have us operating effectively, productively, and expeditiously. We might feel as though we have gained a second wind. Our industriousness may have us assuming we can conquer the world with the liability later in the day of overexpansion, taking on too much with attention to detail lacking. The metronome shouldn’t have us swinging to extremes when Wednesday and Thursday of this week can be highly accomplished.
Thursday, September 21st – Prioritizing Efforts – Mercury, Mars, Venus, Sun, Pluto. Thursday continues with the Moon in Sagittarius with the Moon today square Mercury to begin the day and the Moon sextile Mars and the Moon trine Venus later in the day. The Sun trines Pluto. Wednesday and Thursday are primo days for us to get things done effectively and productively. We need to stay focused and prioritize our efforts for best results. Let’s be wary of a perfectionist attitude early in the day that, if we succumb to, could have us spinning our wheels, fretting, and getting nowhere except beating ourselves up and sabotaging our endeavors. This is not a day to gloss over the details or to take on too much, but rather a day to stay out of our own way, concentrate on the most important projects, and then zen-like, ‘just do it’. If we get lost in the weeds, we can always draw upon the critique, input, and suggestions of a trusted confidante. Collaboration eases the process, provides a broader perspective, and allows us to relish the sense of shared accomplishment. Yesterday and today give us the energy to accomplish a great deal, but we need to avoid resting on our laurels or wasting these days since the pendulum swings with tomorrow liable to be a little bonkers.
Friday, September 22nd – Emperor with No Clothes – Lunar T-Square, Neptune, Sun, Saturn. Friday begins with the Moon completing its transit of Sagittarius with the Sagittarius Moon triggering a Mutable Sign T-Square with the Moon square Neptune in Pisces and the Moon square the Sun in Virgo. The Moon then moves into Capricorn where the Capricorn Moon today sextiles Saturn. Friday is the last day of the summer season prior to tomorrow’s Autumn Equinox and the beginning of autumn as the Sun enters Libra. After two days where we were able to accomplish a great amount, which hopefully we did, Friday could have us fall prey to our narcissism and a sense of grandstanding as we trumpet our exploits. Whether we have an audience of several or many or an audience of oneself as we gaze admiringly into the mirror, we need to be careful not to embellish our involvements. It’s always wise for us recognize that each of us sees things, and reality, from our own personal perspective. Our viewpoint is well summed up by the Indian parable of the blind men and the elephant with each one touching a different part of the elephant and each having a different perception of reality based upon their personal interaction with the specific part of the elephant. Each of us can become myopic, put on blinders, and only see situations from our individual bias. No matter how off base or far afield we might go in the morning with the liability of glossing over important matters just to get things done, the evening allows us to regain our focus and become more serious in our efforts and opens the door to a most productive weekend.
Saturday, September 23rd – Concentrated Attention – Lunar Grand Trine, Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, Autumn Equinox, Sun Libra. Saturday has the Capricorn Moon triggering an Earth Grand Trine with the Moon trine Mercury in Virgo and the Moon trine Jupiter in Taurus. The Moon squares Mars. The Sun exits Virgo to enter Libra [2:50 AM EDT] at the Autumn Equinox and the beginning of the autumn season. Both today and tomorrow could have us highly industrious, able to accomplish a great deal. We might consider an autumn clean up and clear out to rid ourselves of the extraneous and help us streamline our operations so that we are not hampered by the irrelevant. With the Sun moving into Libra, we are likely to seek more balance in our lives, even if we need to go through metronome-like swings to get to a point of equilibrium. We could become more collaborative with other people, more interested in their concerns, and less critical of the human foibles we see in others. While that may be the tendency of this season, we are also liable to power plays in our relationships where either party wants what they want with a diminishment of the other person’s concerns. It would be wise for us to ‘play nice’ and create win-win scenarios rather than win-lose situations, which often lead to lose – lose affairs where no one truly benefits.
Sunday, September 24th – Transcendence At One – Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Sun. Sunday has the Moon completing its transit of Capricorn with the Moon triggering the transcendental planets with the Moon trine Uranus, the Moon sextile Neptune, and the Moon conjunct Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost three and a half hours as the Moon finishes its transit of Capricorn without making any further connections to the planets and before the Moon enters Aquarius where late in the day the Aquarius Moon trines the Sun. At sundown in the Jewish tradition, Yom Kippur begins. Yom Kippur is a Day of Atonement a day for reflection and reverence. I suggest the day to be a day of ‘at one ment’, a day when we can connect with our spiritual essence, be one with the universal forces and recognize our own divine nature as being a ‘sun of god’ — let it shine, let it shine. It’s interesting that this Jewish holiday coincides with the Moon triggering the transcendental planets that help us rise above our mundane concerns and our limited understanding to realign ourselves with natural law and universal rhythms. This Sunday is a day for each of us to rise above, reflect and contemplate, and more fully appreciate the blessings and the beauties that we enjoy on a daily basis.
