The astrology for this week of August 22nd through the 28th of 2022 tends to have us turning our attention back to regular matters, whether we do so willingly or begrudgingly.
A sense of summer is diminishing, and we may take a more serious tone to our times.
The week begins with the Sun exiting Leo to enter Virgo. The Earth Grand Trine that we have had since early August with each of the three Earth Signs being transited continues on into early October. We can be highly productive, committed to our mundane activities and accomplish a great deal, if we so choose.
In order to benefit from this energy configuration, it will be important for us not to be distracted from concentrating on the specifics, the details, and our personal goals. Much of the craziness in the world is merely static to our personal realm. Various curveballs are liable to be thrown at us, but our due diligence, maintaining mindfulness and being fully aware of the conditions and circumstance happening around us would keep us focused and prevent us from being thrown off course by antics that might influence our situation but have little direct impact on us.
We are entering a period when we can attend to our health regimen, our work practices and our daily scheduling. Having a disciplined practice of well-being would strengthen our core and our ability to withstand the turbulence and disruptions during this paradigm shift. The age-old saying “ABC… Adversity Builds Character” is one that older generations experienced. More recent generations, who have benefitted through entitlement, have not had to confront many of the challenges that their predecessors encountered, but younger folk without having attained strength of character now tend to have greater depression episodes.
Mid-week, Uranus turns retrograde and retrogrades into the early part of 2023. Many of the changes we might have incorporated to be more effective with less expenditure of energy may need tweaking or reworking. A serious look at our finances with well-considered budgeting during highly inflationary times would help avoid personal economic catastrophes.
Mercury exits its own Sign of Virgo to enter Libra, triggering a Grand Trine in the Air Signs. An Air Grand Trine continues into the end of October.
With Air and Earth Grand Trines into the mid-autumn period, we have the opportunity of linking our ideas, thoughts and concepts with a meticulous application, implementation and manifestation. As Larry the Cable Guy would say, this is a period when we can ‘git-r-done’.
Mercury transiting through Libra can improve relationships. We might be more considerate of other people, less defensive of our own opinion, and more willing to consider alternatives to our own point of view. Perhaps all of us are becoming increasingly aware to the games being perpetrated on us, the flip-flops of so-called ‘truth’ and the changing narratives that shift according to whichever way the wind blows. There could be an awakening in people with a greater ability to pierce the veil of Maya and get beyond the appearance and the illusions to become aware of what is truly going on.
The weekend has the Virgo New Moon with its influence over the next two weeks up to the Full Moon on the 10th of September. With Venus triggering a Fixed Sign T-Square with last year’s nemesis of the Saturn Uranus square, and with the New Moon configuration poking the bear by a square to Mars in Gemini, we may be in for a phase of helter-skelter. Welcome to the Monkey House.
Monday, August 22nd – Needle in a Haystack – Jupiter, Mercury, Pluto, Sun Virgo. Monday starts this week with the Moon in Cancer square Jupiter in Aries. Mercury trines Pluto, and the Sun exits Leo to enter Virgo [11:16 PM EDT]. Even though we are still in the summer season and some of us may be enjoying summer recreational activities, a return to our regular personal routine could impinge upon our good times. Responsibilities might beckon. Our tone can become a great deal more serious. Fortunately, our mind today is highly astute, able to cut through the maze and get to the core of any situation. We are able to dissect the most perplexing problems and devise a best practices approach to resolution. This is a day when we could actually find the proverbial needle in the haystack. We do have to be wary of someone’s demands on our time, for we could be so effective today that other people are likely to bring their issues for us to address and sort out. Any narcissistic tendency of proving ourselves and standing out in the crowd could be like a magnet drawing all and sundry for us to fix their problems for them. Why go there when we have our own personal issues to iron out? Let’s use this day to strategize and devise the most effective ways to accomplish our goals.
Tuesday, August 23rd – Greater Sense of Things – Uranus, Neptune. Tuesday continues with the Cancer Moon with the Moon today sextile Uranus and the Moon trine Neptune. One of the opportunities during the lockdowns was the ability to go on a spiritual retreat. Devoid of our usual diversions and distractions, we could focus on working on ourselves, concentrate on the true meaning of our lives, and develop our creative talents, no matter what the venue for our expression might be. We were able to look beyond the appearances and the images to determine what was truly essential to our living. This Tuesday allows us to draw upon our greater sense of things, the ability to look beyond the looking glass and see what is really going on. Our higher faculties of intuition and inspiration are becoming more attuned. The more we are open to the magic and mystery of these times, the better able we shall be in discerning reality from the images, illusions and deceptions of these times. In this post-modern world, where the subjective is accepted as the objective and the fictional often seen and promoted as factual, it is essential that we attune our greater sense of things in order to prevent ourselves getting sucked into consensus opinion. This Tuesday gives us the impetus to try out our higher faculties and to get a grip on what is really going on. Like a muscle, the more we exercise our intuition and our inspiration of thinking outside the box, the more aware and awakened we shall be.
Wednesday, August 24th – Hold Steady – Pluto, Mercury, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars, Uranus retrograde. Wednesday begins the day with the Cancer Moon opposed Pluto and the Moon sextile Mercury. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for three and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Cancer and before the Moon enters Leo where today the Leo Moon sextiles Mars. Uranus turns retrograde [9:54 AM EDT] and retrogrades through the third week of January 2023. This is a day for us to avoid extreme actions triggered by emotional responses. Although we are living during turbulent and disruptive times, and this Wednesday can be one of those times, we have also had our basic training in flexibility, adaptability and acceptance of the truth that ‘we never get more than we can handle’. Unexpected situations might arise on this Wednesday, and it would be wise for us to hold steady and not take any major response until we have gauged the ramifications of whatever is unfolding. There may be significant whipsaws today, so it would be wise for us to think things through before any definitive action and allow the dust to settle before committing to our next move. Changes we have sought to instill into our lives might have to be put on hold. If that occurs, it would be wise to recognize that the timing for the new was just not right and could need a more propitious time for it to be so.
Thursday, August 25th – Good Time Charlie – Jupiter, Venus, Lunar T-Square, Uranus, Mercury Libra. Thursday has the Leo Moon engaging the two ‘good guys’ of the planetary realm as the Leo Moon trines Jupiter to begin the day, and the Moon conjuncts Venus later in the Day. The Moon triggers a Fixed Sign T-Square with last year’s nemesis of the Uranus Saturn square when the Leo Moon squares Uranus to end the day, followed on early Friday morning by the Moon opposed Saturn. Mercury exits its own Sign of Virgo and enters Libra [9:03 PM EDT]. We can start the day upbeat, looking to walk on the sunny side of the street. If we can add some style to our day and have a day that allows us to embrace the sense of ‘good to be alive’, we definitely will. Even better would be our ability to enjoy some fun and games on this Thursday. Let’s keep in mind that all the craziness of previous lockdowns, school closures, masking up and jib-jabbing has imploded our old ‘normal’. We may have to return to some semblance of a routine we’ve had before, but there is now more latitude for us than we had before. If we could use this Thursday as a ‘time out’ to enjoy ourselves, it would be suggested, for that force of good times is with us. What we also have to bear in mind is the whipsaw of energy configurations with extremes between happy – sad, productive – dysfunctional, and all sorts of variations on extreme. And so it might seem on this Thursday. The early part of the day and most of this day could have us walking through a marvelous fantasyland. The end of the day and early Friday might flip to the other extreme where we are ducking, dodging and diving away from various unexpected curveballs with much of our forward progress either slowed considerably or stalled. These times of the paradigm shift remind us to enjoy ourselves when available with the idea of replenishing our energies to deal with any onslaughts or incoming that might occur later. Mercury entering Libra gives us a greater appreciation of what is going on with other people and tones down narcissistic tendencies so rampant in today’s society.
Friday, August 26th – Waiting, Hoping, Wishing – Lunar T-Square, Saturn, Moon Void-of-Course. Friday continues with the Moon in Leo with the Moon today completing the Fixed Sign T-Square started last evening by the Moon square Uranus and concluded this early Friday morning with the Moon opposed Saturn. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for seventeen and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Leo and before the Moon enters Virgo late in the day. We are on the ‘dark side’ of the Moon prior to tomorrow’s New Moon. Although unexpected situations and responsibilities might put a damper on our good times Thursday evening and Friday morning, they are unable to douse our enthusiasm. Despite the impediments we might encounter to begin the day, we’re not likely to be tripped up by delays, frustrations or curveballs unanticipated. There is not a great deal of energy today, so it would be wise for us to use this day to do whatever we damn well please. Today might be considered a ‘mental health’ day, and it would be wise for us to use this day in such a way. Tomorrow’s New Moon is liable to start a two-week period when we are emulating the Mad Hatter with a sense of overwhelm and so much on our plate and a need to juggle any number of activities that we have the liability of dropping the ball now and again.
Saturday, August 27th – Ratcheting Up – Mars, Virgo New Moon, Sun, Venus, Uranus. Saturday has the Moon in Virgo and the Virgo New Moon [4:17 AM EDT] with the Moon conjunct the Sun and both square Mars. Venus triggers a Fixed Sign T-Square with Venus square Uranus today, followed tomorrow with Venus opposed Saturn. This New Moon impacts the next two weeks up to the Pisces Full Moon on the 10th of September. And what a two-week period this could be! Summer is winding down and our regular responsibilities are heating up, and we might find ourselves having to deal with various matters, some of which may not be of our making but rather by our being in the wrong place at the wrong time. With so much going on, we have to be careful not to try and cover so many bases that our efforts are haphazard at best, downright disastrous at the worst. Whether we are driving, operating machinery, or just walking towards our destination, a liability of being accident prone cannot be discounted. Impulsiveness and impetuousness are two characteristics we have to avoid during this two-week period but hard to prevent. The Venus T-Square this weekend could make our relationships dicey. Any perceived slights over the past two days can escalate into people changing plans at the last minute or ratcheting slights up into spiteful actions. Let’s keep our interactions with other people pleasant without taking personally any bad behavior.
Sunday, August 28th – Keeping Our Head Down – Neptune, Lunar Grand Trine, Uranus, Pluto, Venus, Saturn. Sunday continues with the Virgo Moon with the Moon today opposed Neptune and the Moon triggering an Earth Grand Trine with the Virgo Moon trine Uranus in Taurus early in the day, and the Moon trine Pluto to end the day. Venus completes a Fixed Sign T-Square with Venus square Uranus yesterday and Venus opposed Saturn today. Relationships can still be a little iffy today, and the day would be better geared towards getting things done. We can be highly effective and productive if we take care of business and not get diverted into other people’s issues or engage their personal drama. If someone has a chip on their shoulder, there’s no reason for us to try and dislodge it for them. Getting sucked into other people’s upsets might only serve to validate the phrase ‘no good deed goes unpunished’. Compassion is all well and good until it bites us in the backside. Frittering away our energy on someone’s matters might only fan the flames of their resentment. Why go there, especially when keeping our head down and attending to our own matters could have us virtually moving mountains and accomplishing a great amount in the resolution of our own personal affairs?
