The astrology for this week of May 9th through the 15th of 2022 can have us wanting to take off with us gunning our engine but our transmission stuck in neutral.
The week may be slow starting. Is it a hangover from our celebrations for Mother’s Day when we might have taken a walk down Memory Lane, revisited both the positives and the negatives of years gone by, and wondered how we got to where we are today?
This past Sunday and this Monday have us also revisiting last year’s nemesis of the Saturn Uranus square. Old and new with the metronome exhausting to say the least.
The early part of this week has two major energy configurations. We encounter our second of this year’s four Mercury retrogrades as Mercury turns retrograde in its own Sign of Gemini on Tuesday. Murphy’s Law of ‘whatever can go wrong could go wrong’ is back in play [play? hardly].
Tuesday also has Jupiter exiting Pisces to enter Aries. The Pisces Stellium of three planets in the Mutable Water Sign ends. Jupiter in the Cardinal Fire Sign is likely to give us a burst of energy with impetuousness and rash actions possible liabilities.
These two energy configurations – Mercury turning retrograde and Jupiter entering Aries – can be like a tug-of-war between assertively advancing forward and moving through quicksand. This week, and these times, call for an attitude of bemusement towards what’s happening on the world stage, what’s occurring with friends and family, and what we are personally experiencing in our own lives.
The rest of the week might have us in a world of confusion as we try to get a grip on the changes in energy patterns. We may seek out someone, or other people, who can help us decipher what seems to be happening. Second opinions are suggested on virtually everything since our enthusiasm and a lack of clarity in thought could give us a perspective cloudy at best, wishful but irrational thought at the worst.
Monday, May 9th – Tripped up by our Past – Saturn, Moon Void-of-Course. Monday begins this week with the Leo Moon and with the Moon opposed Saturn. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost ten and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Leo and before the Moon enters Virgo late today. We could be dealing with an emotional hangover as we start this week. Whether in person, in absentia by phone or text or…, or in memory; our involvement with Mom yesterday might have us feeling the effects of our interactions, reflections and walk down Memory Lane. While we could spend the day in emotional recriminations, the day would be better served as a ‘mental health’ day where we do certain fun things but also complete certain significant matters before we move into the three-week Mercury retrograde cycle. We may go on some wild swings today prior to the intensity ratcheted up tomorrow. More so than ever, life is about trying to maintain balance. With the whipsaws of these times, balance might be a tall over to achieve. Let’s just not let the energies swing us up and down and whirl us all around. Staying centered, having a handle on our moods, and recognizing that we are in a maelstrom would help us make it through the ‘night’.
Tuesday, May 10th – Revving the Engine, Stuck in Neutral – Mercury, Uranus, Mercury retrograde, Jupiter Aries. Tuesday has the Virgo Moon square Mercury to begin the day and just before Mercury turns retrograde [7:47 AM EDT]. The Virgo Moon trines Uranus to end the day. Jupiter exits Pisces, ending the Stellium in the Mutable Water Sign, and Jupiter enters Aries [7:22 PM EDT]. This Mercury retrograde begins in its own Sign of Gemini and starts a three-week cycle when Murphy’s Law of ‘whatever can go wrong could go wrong’ is in effect. It’s always wise to avoid important decisions or significant commitments when Mercury is retrograde. There can be screw-ups with Mercury being retrograde. With the Virgo Moon trine Uranus to end the day, we could find that while our lower, reasoning mind, might be confused, our receptivity to insights and sudden understandings may be spot-on. The crux of these disruptive, tumultuous times is not to accept anything that we believe without taking into account unexpected situations developing, surprises, and things changing dramatically in a nanosecond or less. With Jupiter in Aries, we now have the two ‘good guys’ of the planetary realm, Venus and Jupiter, both in the Cardinal Fire Sign. Our desire to put ourselves as number 1 first and foremost could contribute to arrogance and narcissism with little concern about anything other how things are impacting us. Two rather contradictory energies operating, we may find ourselves wanting to rush forward but without clarity of direction or intention in mind.
Wednesday, May 11th – Step by Step – Mars, Sun, Neptune. Wednesday has the Virgo Moon trine the Sun, and the Moon opposed both Mars and Neptune both in Pisces. The Moon begins an Earth Grand Trine trigger with the Virgo Moon trine the Sun in Taurus today, and the Moon trine Pluto in Capricorn early tomorrow. With the influence of Jupiter in Aries, we have to be wary that we’re not trying to move too fast, act rashly, or assume that we are invincible. This is a day for us to go step by step with the recognition that the Earth Grand Trine of today, early tomorrow benefits due diligence and attention to detail. By orb, we have a kite pattern chart with the Grand Trine, the Moon in opposition to the Pisces planets and the Sun in Taurus and Pluto in Capricorn both sextile the Pisces planets. We can combine perseverance with visualization, attention to detail with the big picture, and can be highly effective going slow, focusing and not being distracted. Despite the Mercury retrograde, this can be a highly productive day, a day when the Master Number of 11, the Visionary, can be incorporated in a grounded and practical manner.
Thursday, May 12th – Self-Absorbed or Collaborative – Pluto, Jupiter, Mercury, Venus. Thursday begins with the Virgo Moon trine Pluto, culminating the Earth Grand Trine that began yesterday. The Moon then moves into Libra where today the Libra Moon trines Mercury and the Moon opposes both Jupiter and Venus both in Aries. We can deal with our responsibilities, but there is a question as to whether we go it alone or draw upon the input of other people. Our goals are in mind, and we may continue with any head of steam that we generated yesterday to deal with our tasks, all the while keeping in mind the long game of our long-term plans. We don’t have to put on blinders, for people could offer an objective perspective to what we are doing, but neither do we have to be distracted by needless chatter. Today is a good day to exercise balance — balance between our personal interests and those of other people, balance between our routine obligations and our future objectives, and balance between being self-absorbed and collaborative. Even during these tumultuous times, life is all about attaining balance.
Friday, May 13th – Why Fear the Night – Saturn. Friday continues with the Libra Moon with the Moon trine Saturn late in the day. There is not a great deal of energy today or tomorrow, but we are moving towards late Sunday’s, early Monday’s Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse when the energy ratchets up significantly. This Friday could be a good ‘mental health’ day, a day to catch our breath, build up our reserve, and enjoy the company of someone or other people. It would be wise for us to maintain a bemused attitude regarding what appears to be going on. Things may not be as they seem. Stepping out of the frenzy and frantic allows us a sense of sanctuary, even sanity, amidst the hurly-burly of these times. To borrow the title from the John-Roger and Peter McWilliams book, You Can’t Afford the Luxury of a Negative Thought. Even more so now than when this book was first published back in 1988, negativity breeds negativity and becomes a contagion, as our society presently experiences and expresses the worst of times rather than the blessings and the best of these times. We may have much to contend with on Sunday, but it would be suggested we keep in mind the wise and true saying that ‘we never get more than we can handle’. We can be more effective in handling whatever comes our way when we have rested, recharged and reinvigorated rather than when we are exhausted and frustrated. Today is a day to recharge our energies by appreciating the upbeat people in our lives, recognizing the awe and wonder of nature, and affirming the renewal and rebirth we see in nature at this springtime.
Saturday, May 14th – Spring Cleaning – Pluto. Saturday begins with the Libra Moon square Pluto early in the day. The Moon then moves into Scorpio but makes no connections to the planets. No worries, since the Scorpio Moon will be highly active tomorrow and up to the Full Moon. Although we might not want to address our responsibilities and may prefer to procrastinate and do something other, this Saturday is a good day for a good springtime cleaning. With acquisitive conditioning, each of us tends to accumulate stuff, stuff that could have been useful at one time, now stored away and taking up space. An interesting characteristic about life is that the universe abhors a vacuum. Once space is developed, new things and new situations come forward to fill the space. Much of our useless stuff clogs our energy, can make us lethargic, and closes off the possibilities of the new and the different. Today is a good day to rid ourselves of the extraneous in our lives in order to provide room for things that might be more appropriate for where we are now rather than being blocked by where we have been. As the saying suggests: ‘the cup has to be emptied before it can be filled’. Today is a day for emptying, getting rid of, and cleaning the slate.
Sunday, May 15th – Keep the Faith – Mars, Neptune, Lunar T-Square, Uranus, Saturn, Sun. Sunday is a leadup to the Scorpio Full Moon, a Lunar Eclipse, late on Sunday on the US west coast [9:14 PM PDT] and early Monday on the US east coast [12:14 AM EDT]. After two relatively benign days, this Sunday ratchets up the intensity. The Scorpio Moon triggers a Fixed Sign T-Square with last year’s nemesis of the Saturn Uranus square as the Moon opposes Uranus to begin the day, and the Moon squares Saturn to end the day. Late in the day, the Scorpio Moon trines both Mars and Neptune both in Pisces. The Sun squares Saturn, and the Sun trines Neptune. Whatever our plans might be for this Sunday, unexpected developments could upset our intentions. We may feel various push – pulls going on today with our having to react to variables we had not even anticipated. The key to making it through this day is to keep our faith, even blind faith, that things are unfolding as they will, even if we do not like the ways that they are unfolding. Today would be a day to avoid the trap of getting entangled by appearances or fears and anxieties, or by past issues. We may have to be sharp on our toes, deflect certain matters, and all the while keep an attitude that things do work out the way that they will work out. Drawing upon the evidence of springtime birth, renewal and renaissance can strengthen our faith in a natural unfolding. The challenge for each of us during these disruptive times is to get out of our own way, lessen our self-importance, and harness an ability to adapt to changing circumstances, to be flexible to whatever comes our way. Today is a day for each of us to keep the faith.
