The astrology for this week of November 22nd through the 28th of 2021 may focus us on home and family matters, and in the US our preparations and celebration of Thanksgiving.
It would be great if we all could have the attitude of gratitude for all the blessings in our lives, instead of so many people snarling and whining about what isn’t rather than appreciating what is.
The week begins with us possibly more interested in our personal life than our professional responsibilities.
Already, the holiday mood is on us as the powers-that-be and media warn us of liable shortages in gifts and necessities if we wait too long to do our shopping and make our gift purchases. Ah, yes, the manipulation of fear — gawd it’s getting tiresome. First, we had to fear the virus, now inflation, soon to be the shortages, and later climate change disasters. Ah, well, we should be used to the constant drumbeat of anxiety and fear. I remember as a child the fear of nuclear war and Soviet attack with us schoolchildren being marched downstairs to the basement during drills to be ready for Soviet attacks overhead.
This week can have us reaching out to family and friends. In the US, it’s Thanksgiving week and a time when many of us may hit the roads, the airports, bus and train stations to get out of Dodge, spread our wings and enjoy a reprieve and release from the long drawn out lockdowns we have all suffered through.
This past weekend, the Sun entered Sagittarius to give us some of the Fire element, which has been lacking for most of this year. Mid-week this week we add to the Fire as Mercury exits Scorpio to enter Sagittarius. We are more likely to take on an expansive view, a more upbeat attitude and with a sense that we have the opportunity of returning to some semblance of ‘normalcy’.
Thursday is Thanksgiving Day in the US. If we are joining family and friends in celebration, it would be advised that we keep the conversations to non-controversial subjects, if there are any such subjects any longer. People could be pontificating, stuck in their personal perspective and unwilling to remove the blinders to consider other viewpoints.
Friday is Black Friday, the day that traditionally opened the starting gates of holiday shopping. But like everything else, tradition has gone by the wayside, with Black Friday deals already employed over the past few weeks.
The weekend can be a time when we focus on errands, holiday decorating and attending to various matters. If we are traveling over the weekend, it would be wise to add on extra time and have contingency plans in mind.
We end the week on Sunday evening with the beginning of Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights. No matter our philosophical or religious beliefs, it would be wise for us to continually embrace the sentiment of the lyrics to the gospel song:
This little light of mine
I’m going to let it shine
Oh, this little light of mine
I’m going to let it shine
This little light of mine
I’m going to let it shine
Let it shine, all the time, let it shine
Monday, November 22nd – Breath of Fresh Air – Uranus. Monday begins the week with the first full day of the Sun’s transit through the Mutable Fire Sign of Sagittarius. The Cancer Moon sextiles Uranus late in the day. With a transfusion of upbeat Sagittarius, we could feel like we finally have a fire in our belly, more upbeat and confident about our prospects ahead. This is a day when we might attend to our personal needs. For some of us, we may be preparing for the Thanksgiving holiday approaching. For others, we might be heading out of town and possibly for the first time in a long while due to the imposed lockdowns of the past couple of years. We can feel a breath of fresh air to begin this week, but it would be wise that we be judicious in our expenditures — energy, finances, commitments. We could feel as though a weight has been lifted from our shoulders, but let’s avoid getting giddy or assuming that our present sense of things is truly the long-term reality. Let’s keep in mind that during these disruptive, tumultuous times things can change suddenly and dramatically. It is essential that we be aware, mindful and willing to adapt and adjust to changing conditions. But for the moment, ah, we can breathe again.
Tuesday, November 23rd – Reflections in a Meditative Mode – Venus, Lunar Grand Trine, Mars, Neptune. Tuesday has the Cancer Moon opposed Venus and the Moon triggering a Water Grand Trine with the Cancer Moon trine Mars in Scorpio and the Moon trine Neptune in Pisces. We might far prefer dawdling about our home and engaging family than dealing with our responsibilities or demands placed upon us. We are entering the frenzy of the holidays, but it would be suggested that we take times for us to stop, tone down the frantic pace, and allow us to savor the true beauty, bounty and blessings in our life. This Tuesday is a day for us to engage the quiet and the simplicity of doing life. We have all been conditioned into making things happen, always being on the go, even if our ‘go’ is only busy work and that according to the proverb in Christian theology: “idle hands are the devil’s workshop.” In truth, idling now and then allows us to reflect, contemplate and consider what is truly going on, what we are doing and why we are doing it. Being reflective also allows us to connect with the universal unfolding. During this paradigm shift from linear, sequential reality into asequential reality we have the opportunity, and the challenge, of being co-creators with the natural unfolding rather than our trying to make things happen in accord with our whims. This Tuesday is a day for us to connect with a higher power than just our ego perceptions.
Wednesday, November 24th – Out of Here – Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury, Sun, Mercury Sagittarius. Wednesday has the Cancer Moon opposed Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for ten hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Cancer and before the Moon enters Leo. The Leo Moon today trines both the Sun and Mercury both in Sagittarius with Mercury having exited Scorpio today to enter Sagittarius [10:36 AM EST]. We may put our finishing touches on our Thanksgiving preparations or complete certain outstanding matters early in the day. And the better it would be, since as the day progresses, we are likely to blow off our tasks and focus on enjoying ourselves. We gain more Fire with Mercury entering Sagittarius, but the entry of Mercury into the Mutable Fire Sign is also the Sign of Detriment for Mercury with a liability of our thinking becoming diffuse, entertaining all sorts of possibilities and with a blind faith optimism that might border on fantasyland. Whether we are traveling for what seems to be a long weekend for many and the unofficial kickoff of the holiday season or we stay put, our thoughts and our inclinations are to stretch our wings and engage involvements foreign to our daily experience. In the US, this day tends to be the busiest day of travel, and after the two-year siege of lockdowns, restrictions and mandates, many people may be looking to spread their wings. This Wednesday is a day for us to enjoy ourselves, seek outlets that provide welcome relief and uplift, and step away from what has been our recent routine. Whether physical or mentally, we could find ourselves ‘out of here’.
Thursday, November 25th – Not What It Could Be – Lunar Grand Cross, Saturn, Uranus, Mars. Thursday is Thanksgiving Day in the US, a day to express an attitude of gratitude for the bounty and blessings we have in our lives. If only it were so on this Thursday, for this Thursday challenges us with a Fixed Sign Grand Cross as the Leo Moon engages our year’s nemesis of the Saturn Uranus square with additional intensity thrown in. The Leo Moon today opposes Saturn in Aquarius, the Moon squares Uranus in Taurus, and the Moon squares Mars in Scorpio. Delays and frustrations could make up this day. People can be pontificating their opinion as truth, but as we have come to realize in this post-modern era [or is that error?], reality is whatever we choose it to be. So much for the empirical, so much for science, accepted only if they agree with our perspective. It would be wise today to keep discussions light and non-controversial, but that might prove a tall order under these energy configurations. If we are traveling to grandmother’s house or anywhere distant from our home, we might consider adding on extra time and to have contingency plans if our intended course goes awry. This Thanksgiving is not what it could be, but so too is life presently. May as well just ‘grin and bear it’. Even if not everyone is on the same page, we can still give thanks for the life we are living.
Friday, November 26th – Not so Black Anymore – Jupiter, Moon Void-of-Course. This day after Thanksgiving in the US has been traditionally known as Black Friday, the day when amazing sales were offered by the country’s retailers. But tradition is not what it used to be. Black Friday sales have been going on for the past few weeks with retailers trying to squeeze as much out of the consumer as possible with the holiday sales often accounting for 25% – 50% of a retailer’s annual sales. This Friday has the Leo Moon opposed Jupiter. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost ten hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Leo and before the Moon enters Virgo late in the day. Even if we have done much of our holiday shopping under the coaxing from warnings of shortages and supply disruptions, this Friday may still have us out and about whether shopping, dining with friends, or enjoying recreational pursuits. We don’t want any parade rainers to dampen our spirits, and we might be oblivious to the costs involved as we seek our pleasurable pursuits. But this Friday is a day for us to go for the ‘gusto’, to enjoy ourselves and have a good time.
Saturday, November 27th – Forget the Due Diligence – Mercury, Sun, Uranus. Saturday begins with the Virgo Moon square both the Sun and Mercury both in Sagittarius. Later in the day, the Moon trines Uranus. We may have a lot on our ‘to do’ list as we start this day. But a lot can be too much, and we might suffer from trying to do too much today. With the Sun and Mercury in the Mutable Fire Sign, we are likely to be more upbeat, optimistic and confident. Where a problem can arise is that Mercury is in Detriment in Sagittarius with a tendency to gloss over matters and neglect due diligence. There can be a ‘la-de-da’ attitude with false optimism and a belief that nothing can go wrong. Nothing? When it seems that everything is circling the drain with rampant inflation, supply shortages, people dropping like flies, etc.; perhaps it’s not so bad to be oblivious at times and always maintain an attitude of exuberance. We can be frivolous today but just not stupid.
Sunday, November 28th – Let There be Light – Venus, Mars, Neptune, Pluto, Sun, Mercury. Sunday has the Virgo Moon sextile Mars, the Moon opposed Neptune, and the Moon trine both Venus and Pluto both in Capricorn. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for nine hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Virgo and before the Moon enters Libra Monday morning. The Sun conjuncts Mercury. This is a day when we can straighten things up, bring pressing demands to conclusions, and complete various important matters. We can draw upon our concentrated attention and an intuitive sense to get various things done quickly and effectively. While we can deal with the particulars, we are also aware of the big picture and our intended future projects. Hanukkah begins at sunset and the Festival of Lights reminds us that we live in a world of miracles. No matter how dire situations may be, there are always ways by which we can not only survive our challenges, but we can thrive successfully from them. This is a day when we could realize that no matter what may be handed us, we are able to radiate our spirit, express the beauty of our soul, and let our light shine.
