The astrology for this week of January 8th through the 14th of 2024 can have us kicking our productivity and effectiveness into high gear.
This is not a week to waste.
We might start the week dithering about, spending more time chattering away than accomplishing a great amount, but that might be all right since some of our plans could be a little harebrained, great in concept, short on practical feasibility.
Let’s cut ourselves some slack Monday and Tuesday with the intention that Tuesday evening allows us to get going strategically and put our intentions into action. The more we can strategize, all while thinking outside the box, the greater our possibilities of success. We may be taking the path less travelled, but our course might be especially appropriate for what we wish to achieve.
We can be operating on all cylinders as we come to the Capricorn New Moon on Thursday. The New Moon in a Cardinal Sign truly starts the promise of that season. And the promise of this winter is one of efforts rewarded and the likelihood of personal accomplishments.
The second half of this week can have us feeling good about our efforts with a sense of the wind to our backs, our concentrated determination and unbridled optimism at their peak.
The weekend has Mercury exiting Sagittarius, a Sign of Detriment for Mercury, and Mercury entering Capricorn adding greater focus to the Cardinal Earth Stellium as Mercury joins the Sun, Mars, and Pluto in Capricorn.
Even if we feel compelled to get a great deal done, this week allows us to work smarter rather than harder and get more accomplished with less expenditure of energy.
We do NOT have to make life hard on oneself.
Monday, January 8th – About Me with a Confusing Mind – Venus, Mercury, Neptune. Monday begins this week with the Moon in Sagittarius conjunct Venus. Late in the day, Mercury squares Neptune. We might be more interested in spending time with folks and in idle chatter than attending to our responsibilities as we begin this week. If we can chalk this up to a ‘mental health’ day, that might be our preference. Today is more about ‘me’ and what we choose to do. We needn’t place heavy expectations on oneself. Our engine might be racing, but we could feel stuck in neutral. No matter, since we’ll get in gear later tomorrow and especially after the New Moon on Thursday. We are in the waning Moon so if we get anything done today it would be more likely dealing with outstanding issues rather than initiating our new year resolutions. The evening hours and much of tomorrow can have us confused, wondering what we wish to do but with a liability of an overblown confidence and the belief that this new year will avail us of all sorts of possibilities. We can allow our imagination to run rampant, but we need to keep our thoughts and ideas in concept rather than implementation for the time being.
Tuesday, January 9th – Pulling Weeds – Neptune, Mercury, Moon Void-of-Course, Sun, Uranus, Mars, Saturn. Tuesday continues with the Sagittarius Moon with the Moon today reinforcing yesterday’s Mercury square Neptune by the Moon today square Neptune and the Moon conjunct Mercury. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for seven hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Sagittarius and before the Moon enters Capricorn in the evening. The latter part of the day has the Sun trine Uranus, and Mars sextile Saturn. Any dithering we might have done yesterday with a strong dose of mental muddle might continue through the first half of this Tuesday. It would be wise for us to restrain our impulses for we could be off base regarding what is really going on. The evening hours allow us to get a better grip on things, impel us to be more practical with an eye on changes we might wish to make in the days ahead. Although our mind may have been a jumble of possibilities yesterday and today, some strong weed pulling late in the day allows us to concentrate and strategize on what we wish to accomplish with the New Moon trigger on Thursday morning.
Wednesday, January 10th – Preparing on the Dark Side – Saturn, Mars, Jupiter. Wednesday has the Moon in Capricorn with the Moon today sextile Saturn, the Moon conjunct Mars, and the Moon trine Jupiter. We are on the ‘dark side’ of the Moon prior to tomorrow’s New Moon. During the waning Moon from Full Moon to New Moon, it is far better for us to complete rather than begin, initiations being far better during the waxing Moon from the New Moon to the Full Moon. If we would determine our trajectory for the day by tying up loose ends and completing certain outstanding matters first, and then consider what we intend to initiate with the thrust of tomorrow’s New Moon, we can plow ahead with focused intent. This Wednesday is a day for us to have nose to grindstone and address our responsibilities and conclude various issues. We may not have a clean slate when the starting gate opens tomorrow with the New Moon, but we can today take care of any number of unresolved situations that would otherwise hinder our proceeding with new beginnings. Today is a day for us to clean up our clutter before we consider our future intended trajectory.
Thursday, January 11th – And so it Begins – Uranus, Capricorn New Moon, Sun, Neptune, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course. Thursday has the Capricorn Moon trine Uranus in orb of the Capricorn New Moon [6:57 AM EST] when the Moon conjuncts the Sun, followed by the Moon sextile Neptune and the Moon conjunct Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for less than half an hour as the Moon completes its transit of Capricorn without making any further connections to the planets and before the Moon enters Aquarius late in the day. Any New Moon after the seasonal change when the Sun enters a Cardinal Sign is truly the trigger and the new beginning of that particular season. And so it is today with the Capricorn New Moon truly initiating the winter season. The New Moon is in orb of a trine to Uranus and gives us the thrust to incorporate changes to our daily operations, engaging streamlined methods, adapting to any alterations to our trajectory, being more autonomous in our endeavors and increasing our effectiveness while diminishing our expenditure of energy. We also have the Moon connecting with all three of the transcendental planets, the trine to Uranus, the sextile to Neptune, and the conjunction to Pluto. This day, this fortnight up to the waxing Moon, and this season all suggest a highly productive period when we can achieve a great amount. We just need to keep our eye on the ball and keep track of the specifics, and the consequent results are likely to be highly successful.
Friday, January 12th – Not Too Much, Just Right – Jupiter, Mars. Friday has the Aquarius Moon square Jupiter. Mars trines Jupiter. This Friday can be a Goldilocks type of day when we start the day and take on much and then plan to take on even more. We need to be wary that our expectations of our own abilities don’t exceed our capabilities. We might want to get on with things, feel highly confident of our competence, and determine to get a great amount done. But excess can have a nasty pushback. If we take our time, determine the necessary steps along the way, then we could accomplish a great amount. The main thing today is to slow things down, focus on what is right in front of us, and be conservative with our resources. We may want to leap ahead but such an attitude might only trip us up. We are liable to throw money, and our other resources, at plans that may seem great in our mind’s eye but could prove highly impractical. Today demands that we be good stewards of our resources and keep in mind that there are times when less is more. This Friday is one of those times to avoid taking on too much and doing what we can with what we have available. Let’s not go out on a limb today.
Saturday, January 13th – Thrown for a Loop – Venus, Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury, Mercury Capricorn. Saturday continues with the Moon transiting through Aquarius. The Aquarius Moon early today sextiles Venus and the Moon squares Uranus. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for seventeen and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aquarius and before the Moon enters Pisces late in the day. The Pisces Moon sextiles Mercury, which has just exited Sagittarius to enter Capricorn [9:49 PM EST]. The entry of Mercury into Capricorn reinforces the Capricorn Stellium as Mercury joins the Sun, Mars, and Pluto in the Cardinal Earth Sign. Whatever our plans for this Saturday, we could experience disruptions that cause our intentions for this Saturday to go awry. Yes, this is one of those days when we are liable to experience the unexpected, providing a humbling effect to our belief that we are in total control of our circumstance. A key characteristic during these times of paradigm shift is adaptability, the willingness and flexibility to adjust our course of action based upon changing conditions. As the Taoist saying suggests: “bend like a reed or break like an oak.” This Saturday calls for us to be reed-like and shift our plans in accord with alterations to circumstance. We may not always understand what is going on in the moment but we might better comprehend the significance of the unfolding in retrospect and through contemplation.
Sunday, January 14th – Reflection – Saturn, Jupiter, Mars. Sunday continues with the Pisces Moon with the Moon today conjunct Saturn, the Moon sextile Jupiter in Taurus, and the Moon sextile Mars in Capricorn. Today may be slow starting. We might feel the weight of the world on our shoulders with a sense of all the various tasks and responsibilities to which we need to attend. Although our emotions could be rather sour, even despondent, as we awaken, our attitude can quickly shift with a more upbeat and energetic disposition relieving any heaviness we might have felt to begin the day. This day is a day for us to think before we act, to contemplate and reflect on what we wish to accomplish and what we should bring closure to. Old and new is a large part of our flux both in action and in attitude. With the Moon triggering first Saturn and then Jupiter during these recent days and weeks, it would be wise that we take the cue and do the same. Let’s address outstanding situations, resolve past issues, and then after clearing up things and concluding various matters, give our energy to new projects and the expansion of our involvements into uplifting and self-affirming trajectories. The Moon’s transit through Pisces brings closure to a monthly cycle and the beginning of a new monthly cycle when the Moon enters Aries late tomorrow night. But even more significantly, we are going through a major paradigm shift, about to end one societal cycle and enter a new cycle, increasingly evident next weekend when Pluto exits Capricorn to enter Aquarius bringing with it a dramatic ending and an exciting beginning of eras. The Revolution might not be televised, but pivot points subtle but decisive may be increasingly evident as society makes the shift. A new day is dawning, and it would be wise for us to consider the implications and reflect on how we are likely to choose our stance as we go from one age into a new age. For each of us, we can choose to bend like a reed or break like an oak.
