The astrology for this week of July 31st through August 6th of 2023 can have us grabbing for all the gusto of summertime while a deep-felt sense of malaise or frustration is nagging at us as we approach the ending of a summer that might not have lived up to our expectations.
The week begins with a ‘can do’ attitude. We may be adept at what we need to get done, and the focus could be more attuned to our routine and mundane matters than spreading our wings or exploring distant horizons.
But who wants to get back on track or prepare for an autumnal return to our regular routines? It’s summer, dammit, a season when we are supposed to have good times with good friends, relax and recreate, and put our worries aside.
The Full Moon, as we enter the month of August, may have us attempting a balancing act between our responsibilities and our summer events. What we want to do and what we need to do can have us engaging a push – pull that is both exhausting and mentally depressing. We might wonder whether we are driving our car on our chosen trajectory or just a passenger on a bumpy ride akin to Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.
This is a week for us to avoid any rush to judgment or a rush to anything. Frustrations could impel us to do more, exert too much, and be rather loose, even frivolous, with our finances.
The largesse of the US federal government with various stimulus checks, debt forgiveness, and entitlements may have the printing presses generating money 24-7 but is liable to imperil the long-term value of the US dollar, a value based solely on trust and faith in the US government. Meanwhile, other nations and nation groups are generating their currencies, some of which are being backed by hard assets.
Unexpected developments mid-week can necessitate awareness and mindfulness as we choose how best to attend to changing circumstances. This is not a time for us to cower in fear, but to draw upon both our critical reasoning mind and our intuitive sense to cut through the hype to see what is truly going on and determine our own best course of action.
Things can indeed sort out, but we must be willing not to get in our own way. We need to pay attention to the signals being shown, and then cautiously and persistently move forward, always willing to shift and alter as changing conditions warrant.
The weekend might be a good time for a ‘time out’, to get out of town and being judicious with our financial expenditures.
Monday, July 31st – At our Optimum – Uranus, Neptune, Pluto. Monday begins this week with the Moon in Capricorn and the Moon in aspect to the three transcendental planets. The Moon today trines Uranus, the Moon sextiles Neptune, and the Moon conjuncts Pluto. Late in the day, the Moon exits Capricorn to enter Aquarius. Considering orb of influence, this Monday has the Moon triggering an Earth Grand Trine with the missing Earth Sign, Virgo, triggered late yesterday by the Capricorn Moon trine Mars in Virgo. This Monday is one ‘can do’ day. Not only may we be operating at our optimum, but we can find ourselves riding on greased wheels with unexpected incidents occurring to our benefit. This is one of those days when it would be wise for us to have our eyes wide open and be ready to accede to opportune situations that might suddenly arise. This is not a day to be made light of, not when we can accomplish so much easily and expeditiously. Let’s keep in mind that during this paradigm shift we do not have to do it all nor are we in total control of situations. On the contrary, we are co-creators with the universe unfolding, and we can be more productive by working with the energies rather than trying to force them to our will. Today is a day for us to heed the signals and follow the way.
Tuesday, August 1st – Goldilocks Revisited – Aquarius Full Moon, Sun, Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Saturn. Tuesday has the Aquarius Moon opposed the Sun at the time of the Full Moon [2:32 PM EDT], and the Moon square Jupiter. Mars trines Jupiter, and Mercury opposes Saturn. This Tuesday is a day when we are determining what is ‘just right’ for ourselves, but in the process trying this, trying that, and trying some other. We may be more focused on having a good time, giving thought to our plans but with little regard to present expenses involved. Traditionally, August was considered the month to escape the city, exit our surroundings and head out on our summer vacation. Tradition was, but no longer is. On the contrary, the engagements of autumn have increasingly crept into August with people preparing for the start of school, college orientations and just getting back on track. Summer may seem fleeting, but we are likely determined to grab for all the gusto we can. We might be enticed to make impulse purchases and satiate immediate gratification. We do have to avoid masking any sense of depression or disappointment by making a splash and a free-spending romp. Expectations can lead to grievous discontent. Like Goldilocks, we might have difficulty today determining what is ‘just right’. Let’s be open to the awe and wonder of our doing life and with an acceptance to the truth that ‘living simply is not simply living’.
Wednesday, August 2nd – Tantrums – Lunar T-Square, Uranus, Venus, Moon Void-of-Course. Wednesday continues with the Aquarius Moon with the Moon today triggering a Fixed Sign T-Square as the Aquarius Moon squares Uranus in the morning hours, and the Moon opposes Venus later in the day. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for six hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes is transit of Aquarius and before the Moon enters Pisces to end the day. This day might be reminiscent of the lyrics from a classic The Rolling Stones song:
“You can’t always get what you want
But if you try sometimes you might find
You get what you need”
Unexpected situations early in the day could throw us off our intended course. We might have to draw upon the essential characteristics during this paradigm shift of flexibility and adaptability to ease our way. Humility is called for and a willingness to accept quirky behavior from those people we encounter. Let’s try to keep an attitude of bemusement today, for otherwise we may throw a form of adult tantrum, be petulant and become our own worst enemy. Relationships can be dicey today, so it would be wise for us to cut everyone, including ourselves, a great deal of slack. Like the saying goes: “when life hands you lemons, make lemonade.”
Thursday, August 3rd – Victim, No More – Saturn, Mercury, Jupiter, Mars. Thursday has the Pisces Moon conjunct Saturn, the Moon sextile Jupiter, and the Moon opposed both Mercury and Mars. We might feel beleaguered as we start the day. Either we can adopt a victim mode of having to solely react to circumstance, or we could take a ‘can do’ attitude and determine to successfully play the hand we’re dealt. Our choice, always our choice. If we don’t give in to whining and complaining but decide to ‘grin and bear it’, we are likely to find that we can come up with a best practices approach to accomplish what we need to get done. This is a day for us to engage brain and brawn, think outside the box and draw upon streamlined methods to achieve our goals. This is a day for us to acknowledge the wise and true counsel: ‘we never get more than we can handle’. If we are willing to accept and contend with the challenges we might face today, we could feel proud that we both met our tests and effected a rewarding outcome.
Friday, August 4th – Take it Easy – Uranus, Neptune, Pluto. Friday continues with the Pisces Moon with the Moon today sextile Uranus in Taurus, the Moon conjunct Neptune, and the Moon sextile Pluto in Capricorn. The Moon then exits Pisces and enters Aries at the end of the day. An interesting phenomenon occurring is how the transiting Moon tends to connect with the three transcendental planets on certain days. Today is one of those days and speaks to the enigma of the paradigm shift. There are times when no matter what we do we feel Sisyphus-like with our greatest efforts rolling back on top of us with us making little headway. Other times, everything seems to occur magically with little effort as if the universe were operating for our best interests. This Friday can seem to be the latter. Everything can fit neatly into place today. Unanticipated opportunities might arise, so it would be wise for us to be willing to alter our plans to take advantage of any surprising developments. Drawing upon our intuitive sense and being receptive to unplanned incidents might allow us to step on board a magical mystery tour. Not a day to be wasted, and not a day to stress about. Let’s just hop on and go for the ride as co-pilot with the universe unfolding.
Saturday, August 5th – Go Your Own Way – Sun. Saturday continues with the Moon transiting Aries. The Moon makes no connections to the planets until late in the day when the Moon trines the Sun. This Saturday is a good day for us to spread our wings and do whatever we choose to do. This day can be a ME day, a day when we keep our commitments tentative and just enjoy ourselves with whatever catches our fancy. Fun may be on our mind with an emphasis on our doing something different than the usual. Whether we go exploring or try some new activity, we have a sense of pioneering in mind. Even if we’re making plans to get back into our regular routine, today is a day for us to have fun in the summertime. We’re not interested in pushing the envelope, feel no pressure to perform, but rather looking to relax and chill and take advantage of the ‘lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer’.
Sunday, August 6th – Never Enough – Venus, Pluto, Sun, Jupiter. The Moon finishes its transit of Aries on this Sunday with the Moon today trine Venus, and the Moon square Pluto. The Sun squares Jupiter. This weekend is a time geared for fun and relaxation, quite possibly to the extremes of each. We are far more interested in pleasing ourselves than accommodating other people. This day might be a case when enough is never enough. This Sunday can prove the case of the ‘too much’ with a tendency and liability of going for the gold and in the process spending our gold. Excess may be beckoning us, some of which a reflection that summer for us is either in process of ending or soon will be. The more that we can restrain our impulses and indulgences, the less damage we are likely to do to our credit card balance or our cash finances. Let’s enjoy ourselves but let’s avoid subsequent collateral damage due to copious expenses or overdoing our activity and throwing out our back. Never enough can prove an encumbrance.
