The astrology for this week of May 15th through the 21st of 2023 is a highly charged week with the first full week of Mercury having turned direct, three significant planetary Sign changes, the Taurus New Moon, and various explosive incidents.
Good times, bad times with some ugliness thrown into the mix.
The week starts off with a thrust of energy. We are likely feeling energized, feeling the effects of the Mercury turn from retrograde to direct motion and the Moon entering Aries to start its month-long trek through the Zodiac wheel.
If we put spirit into action, we can be highly effective and productive. Things are likely to move along smoothly and easily. We might have to go it alone, however, since not everyone may be applauding our actions or decisions.
Tuesday has Jupiter ending is transit of Aries to begin its year-long transit through Taurus. As it does so, Jupiter triggers by orb a Fixed Sign T-Square with Pluto and Mars with its influence felt on into next week and by Sign into early July. Excess volatility is liable with people acting out, drawing lines in the sand, and repeatedly poking the bear. Fun and games, NOT.
The Taurus New Moon on Friday kicks off what could be a highly productive two-week period. We do need to avoid extreme actions or getting rigid in our decisions and actions. Let’s keep in mind that these times demand that we be flexible and adaptable to the changing currents of this paradigm shift from linear, sequential reality into asequential reality, the consequent breakdown of the fourth dimension and the transitioning into the fifth dimension.
The weekend could be explosive, and we need to be wary of people acting out. Bomb blasts, atmospheric intense storms and volcanic eruptions could grab the headlines and give witness to the turbulence of these times.
Mars exits Cancer to enter Leo and triggers the Fixed Sign T-Square on Saturday, followed on Sunday with the Sun exiting Taurus to enter Gemini. The Mad Hatter may have nothing on us as we close out the week over the weekend with us wondering whether we’re late, whether we have a date, or whether we are living through some bizarro world and living in a most strange landscape.
Monday, May 15th – Head Out on the Highway – Pluto, Venus, Mars, Neptune. Monday starts this week with the Moon entering Aries and the first full day of Mercury direct after the three-week Mercury retrograde cycle. The Aries Moon sextiles Pluto early in the day, and the Moon squares Venus late in the day. Mars sextiles Neptune. We could feel the wind in our sails, ready for us to move forcefully forward with our springtime projects and putting our individual mark on our most significant engagements. We might feel virtually guided in our actions today, as if our personal destiny is steering our course with us intuitively following the lead. Instead of assuming that we can fit conditions to our expectations, we are more open to heeding the indications of which way to go, how to go, and how best to achieve successful results. We can be so caught up in our personal agenda that we become oblivious to how other people are seeing us. Since we are concentrating on our individual interests, someone may feel as though we are solely self-absorbed with little consideration of how we are impacting other people. We might be breaking free of old restrictions and old definitions, but not everyone is likely to be on board with our self-assertions. This is a day for us to go for our gold but keeping mindful of the conditions and people’s sentiments around us and with the recognition that Mercury has only turned direct yesterday with a consequent unsteadiness as we find our rhythm and our pace.
Tuesday, May 16th – All This and More – Jupiter Taurus. The Moon continues its transit of Aries but without making any connections to the planets today. Jupiter exits Aries to enter Taurus [1:20 PM EDT] for its year-long transit of Taurus into May of 2024. Jupiter entering Taurus reenforces the Taurus Stellium as Jupiter joins the Sun, Mercury, and Uranus in the Fixed Earth Sign. With Jupiter being the planet of expansion and Taurus being focused on acquisition, we may find that there is an increased interest in having things and creating security for ourselves. With easy credit through credit cards and high interest rates and the increased costs from inflation, we need to avoid neglecting the budgeting of our finances and our becoming prone to immediate gratification and impulse purchases. During these tumultuous, disruptive times, it is essential that we be mindful and aware of the changing currents, some of which may include increased costs of our basic necessities and unexpected expenses that could arise. Much of our thrust of energy that we might have experienced with Jupiter transiting Aries becomes muted. We are less impetuous, more cautious, and slower on the uptick. Things can slow down with our tendency to take things step-by-step rather than any previous leaps across chasms. Jupiter transiting Taurus could prove beneficial in taking things in a more practical and grounded manner, but we need to make sure that we are working with peripheral vision and not putting on blinders and seeing merely what is right in front of us or buying into the hype of the official narrative.
Wednesday, May 17th – Excess Alert – Mars, Moon Void-of-Course, Jupiter, Pluto, Mercury, Saturn. Wednesday begins with the Aries Moon square Mars. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over three hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before the Moon enters Taurus. The Taurus Moon today conjuncts both Jupiter and Mercury, the Moon squares Pluto, and the Moon sextiles Saturn. Jupiter squares Pluto. Anxiety and fearfulness can trigger reactions of us trying to create security, some of which might feel like circling the wagons. This Wednesday is a day when we could easily fall prey to the old idiom that ‘one’s eyes are bigger than one’s stomach’. We need to be careful that we not over do on this Wednesday. We may easily justify expenses today, whether the expenses are what we perceive as necessary, or the expenses are associated with some future project. This day demands caution in our actions and in our decisions. The propensity for impulse purchases to make ourselves feel better is liable today, so it would be wise for us to keep receipts in case of buyer’s remorse and a later decision to return our purchases. With Jupiter in Taurus, the Fixed Sign T-Square is engaged with Jupiter square Pluto today, Mars opposed Pluto on Saturday, and Jupiter square Mars next Tuesday. Extremes and excesses cannot be ruled out, and it will be important that we rein in our emotions and not do any knee-jerk reactions. Counting to ten before acting and contemplating the possible consequences of any action with an appreciation for the law of unintended consequences could help prevent us from ill-conceived moves that might have a nasty and costly pushback.
Thursday, May 18th – Out of Our Own Way – Venus, Uranus, Sun, Neptune. Thursday continues with the Taurus Moon with the Moon today sextile Venus early in the day, and the Moon conjunct Uranus late in the day. The Sun sextiles Neptune. The Moon is on the ‘dark side’ of the Moon prior to tomorrow’s New Moon. This is a day best served by our getting out of our own way, not making assumptions based upon our wishes or our belief system, but to be open to intuitive feelings and unexpected situations developing. The magic of these times is that things will go in accord with their own natural unfolding and not by our trying to make things happen. The beauty of these times is that things work out in a most mysterious, even miraculous, manner. Our psychic faculties can be highly attuned on this Thursday. Instead of salving our grief or fears by material indulgences, this day would be best spent in reflection, meditation, and appreciation of all the glories of living in this world. Increasingly during this paradigm shift, it is essential that we not merely accept what seems to be going on, the hype or the narrative being presented. Even the empirical can be jimmied to conform to the agenda of the powers-that-be. Instead, we have the opportunity, and the responsibility, to increase our awareness, enhance our psychic senses to ‘see’ what is truly going on. This Thursday allows us to get out of the way of our conditioned mind and engage an inner knowing, the knowing without knowing. Although the strong Taurus influence now encourages us to draw material protection around us, it would be suggested that we let go of the outmoded, clean house, strip down and streamline, and have less static blocking the higher frequencies from getting through. Stuff can be an encumbrance. As the English writer G.K. Chesterton stated: “Angels can fly because they take themselves lightly.”
Friday, May 19th – Restructuring, Shape Shifting – Neptune, Taurus New Moon, Sun, Mars, Pluto, Mercury, Saturn. Friday has the Taurus New Moon [11:53 AM EDT] with the Sun conjunct the Moon and the Moon sextile Neptune in Pisces and the Moon sextile Mars in Cancer. The Moon then moves into Gemini where today the Gemini Moon trines Pluto. Mercury sextiles Saturn. Friday is one powerful day and kicks off a powerful two-week period. The Taurus New Moon occurs with five planets in Taurus, a large imbalance, but one that would allow us to reconfigure and begin to lay down the foundation stones of our future. Making changes, even minimal shifts, can trigger more significant changes as we go along. The process is akin to a snowball going down a mountain, gaining momentum and eventually becoming an avalanche. The more that we can use today and this next fortnight to create the fundamentals necessary for us to achieve our goals, the more successful we are likely to be with our ventures as we move ahead. We do have to account for delays and frustrations with massive patience being called for. With the pace of living accelerated and our tendency to want things yesterday, we could experience various push – pulls with our energy ratcheted up and our anger heightened. Let’s focus on necessary changes, small adjustments, and not become overwhelmed by our impatience or our desire for quick transformations.
Saturday, May 20th – Necessary Steam Vents – Saturn, Mars, Pluto, Mars Leo. Saturday continues with the Gemini Moon with the Moon today square Saturn. Mars ends its transit of Cancer and enters Leo [11:31 AM EDT] with Mars opposed Pluto late in the day and triggering the Fixed Sign T-Square with the Mars in Leo opposed Pluto in Aquarius today and Mars square Jupiter next Tuesday. Commitments and obligations might put a damper on our weekend. We may feel as though our desire to be out and about and doing our own thing is being squelched. We do have to be careful about our mood swings and emotions today. We could swing into resentments and anger and may need some way to vent our frustrations. Physical exercise could provide the necessary releases, but not everyone is likely to avail themselves of sports activities, in which case we need to avoid people acting out, being belligerent, even to the point of aggressions and violence. Saturday might be one high intensity day with blasts and explosions. Today demands we be vigilant and mindful of everyone and everything around us. This is not a day to let down our guard, but rather a day to be walking on eggshells and preventing any confrontations. Engaging creative outlets and expressing our talents would be a way to get our energy out and flowing, and far healthier than taking it to the mat.
Sunday, May 21st – Wide World – Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course, Sun, Pluto, Sun Gemini. Sunday has the Gemini Moon square Neptune late in the day. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over five hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Gemini and before the Moon enters Cancer at the end of the day. The Sun exits Taurus and enters Gemini [3:09 AM EDT] where today the Sun trines Pluto. If we didn’t lose it yesterday by hammering someone or exhausting ourselves from the sense of spinning our wheels, this Sunday can have us energized and intent on a day of exploration. We are far more interested in sampling and trying things out rather than being locked into certain situations or defined by our past. It would be wise for us to have a plan of action, prioritize our interests, and then head out to investigate virtually the four corners of the world. We are more interested in more rather than less, but also more curious about a lot than a concentrated singular focus.
