The astrology for this week of January 31st through the 6th of February ushers in the Chinese New Year of the water tiger with the Aquarius New Moon, ends the three-week Mercury retrograde, and might have us dealing with the winter doldrums.
Despite the week beginning with last year’s nemesis of the Saturn Uranus square, we are likely to feel ‘full steam ahead’ as we consider and give voice to our prospects and our future intentions.
Our ability to have our head in the clouds and our feet firmly planted on the ground, all the while considering the most streamlined means to accomplish our goals, gives us the impetus to deal both with our responsibilities and our long-term plans.
We may feel guided by a certain inner ‘knowing’ as in finding the most expeditious means to get things done.
We do have Mercury turning direct later in the week, and we have to be wary of our actions and our decisions as Mercury changes direction. Things can get squirrely, ever more convoluted, whenever Mercury changes from direct to retrograde or from retrograde to direct motion. We don’t have to avoid moving ahead, but we do have to be cautious and aware as to the ‘hows, whys and wherefores’ of our movements.
We end the week seeking to set things right. Any miscalculations or errors on our part over the past three weeks can start to be corrected.
Although we get a second wind for the weekend, the wind could be knocked out of our sails as errands and tasks put a damper on our desire for ‘down time’ and healthy re-creations. The winter doldrums might be setting in.
Monday, January 31st – Anywhere but Here – Uranus. Monday has the Moon entering Aquarius where late in the day the Moon triggers last year’s Saturn Uranus square with the Moon today square Uranus, and the Moon conjunct Saturn tomorrow. There is not a great deal of energy as we start the week. We are on the ‘dark side’ of the Moon prior to the New Moon Tuesday morning. This is a day when we might prefer chatting up people and thinking about anything we could do rather than everything we should do. We may be more interested in our future projections than our present responsibilities. While we could be incisive and focused if we would tend to our tasks at hand, distractions and diversions can seem far more appealing with any efforts on our part liable to be done in a haphazard manner. Unanticipated variables might throw monkey wrenches into our plans with our efforts expending extraordinary costs. Monday begins this week with a stop and start quality, similar to a driver who accelerates then brakes only to accelerate before braking again. A wise use of this day is to make our plans in pencil with a large eraser and avoid significant commitments.
Tuesday, February 1st – Eye of the Tiger – Aquarius New Moon, Chinese New Year, Sun, Saturn, Moon Void-of-Course. Tuesday begins with the Aquarius Moon conjunct the Sun at the Aquarius New Moon [12:46 AM EST]. This also begins the Chinese Lunar New Year, this year being the year of the yang black water tiger. The Moon also conjuncts Saturn before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for twenty-four hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aquarius and before the Moon enters Pisces on Wednesday morning. The New Moon configuration has the Sun Moon conjunction within orb of a conjunction with Saturn. The Moon completes last year’s nemesis of the Saturn Uranus square, which had the Moon square Uranus yesterday, and the Moon conjunct Saturn today. The influence of this New Moon continues on up to the Full Moon on the 16th, and the Chinese New Year influences us into January of 2023. With the influence of the Aquarius New Moon configuration and the Stellium of four planets in Capricorn, this day and the next fortnight allow us to give practical thought to our ambitions. There may be delays along the way, times when we might need to reconfigure or rework our plans, even times when our trajectory could shift and change significantly. It would be wise for us to concentrate on what we wish to achieve and to discuss with someone who has a detached perspective and who can objectively critique our plans before we spring into action. This day is better served strategizing our plans rather than implementing them. Let’s keep in mind that we are still under a Mercury retrograde until late on Thursday and that the Moon is completing its transit of the Zodiac wheel before starting a new monthly transit when the Moon moves into Aries on Friday.
Wednesday, February 2nd – Spirit in Action – Mars, Jupiter. Wednesday has the Moon moving into Pisces where later today the Pisces Moon sextiles Mars, and the Moon conjuncts Jupiter. Similar to Monday, which might have been slow starting, this Wednesday could have us finding it difficult to get going. We may prefer to contemplate and reflect on what we intend to do before we initiate action. As the day unfolds, we could feel impelled to put our spirit into action. Once we get going today, we might have a determination to get things done. We could feel as though the wind is to our back pushing us along, or as though we are being divinely guided. Despite the impending shift of Mercury with Mercury turning direct late on Thursday, Wednesday through Friday can be highly productive. We do have to be cautious with the recognition that we are liable to screw-ups with misunderstandings, miscommunications and errors in our evaluations. But if we check and recheck as we move ahead, we are likely to be highly successful in our endeavors and enjoying the events as they unfold. Although it is essential during this paradigm shift that we not get arrogant or too self-focused, we can put our intentions into play with both energy and optimism over the next three days. We just have to engage the keywords for success during these times: awareness, mindfulness, adaptability and flexibility.
Thursday, February 3rd – Getting It Straight – Uranus, Venus, Neptune, Mercury, Mercury direct. Thursday continues with the Pisces Moon with the Moon today sextile Uranus in Taurus, the Moon sextile Venus in Capricorn, the Moon conjunct Neptune, and the Moon sextile Mercury in Capricorn just after Mercury turns direct [11:13 PM EST] ending its three-week Mercury retrograde cycle. Whenever Mercury is changing direction, things can get squirrely as we try to adjust to the change in pace and rhythm. This Thursday would be a good day to straighten things out. Tying up loose ends and bringing matters to closure are both ways by which we can prepare for the Moon to complete its monthly cycle through the Zodiac and prepare for its initiatory new monthly cycle on Friday as the Moon enters Aries. Our emotions might be heightened today, and it is suggested we take the time to acknowledge the natural beauty and the nurturing sensations all around us. By being receptive to the shift in energy occurring, we could witness some of those mini-miracles that are happening on a daily basis. Increasingly, a sense of serendipitous incidents may make us aware that despite the various challenges and some of the craziness acting out life is good, even magical. Let’s be mindful to the wonders of our world and appreciate that we can advance our greatest ambitions while accepting the various twists and turns along our journey.
Friday, February 4th – By Our Side – Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars, Jupiter, Sun, Saturn. In the early morning hours of Friday, the Pisces Moon sextiles Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for five hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces and before the Moon enters Aries. Mars sextiles Jupiter, and the Sun conjuncts Saturn. One of our greatest challenges in adapting to the paradigm shift is letting go of the assumption that we are in control of situations. We can control our attitude and modify our behavior, but life circumstance is showing us repeatedly now that we are more co-creators with the universal unfolding than the sole determiner of conditions. While it may be a humbling experience for some to release a belief in being masters of their reality, by synching up with the myriad of currents unfolding we could be far more productive and effective in our endeavors. We can either make it easy for ourselves or hard for ourselves — our choice. Today’s Mars Jupiter sextile is reminiscent of what we might have experienced back on Wednesday when the Moon was conjunct Jupiter and the Moon was sextile Mars. With faith in the process, even when we don’t fully discern what the process might be, and with a willingness to do our optimum no matter the environment in which we find ourselves, we might realize that the universe is by our side assisting us in devising and developing what is truly for our greatest good. It’s time for us to defuse our arrogance, be open to receive the many blessings from the universe and get back on track of our soul journey of awakening and ascension. We truly do have the universal energies by our side.
Saturday, February 5th – Taps from the Universe – Mars, Venus, Saturn, Sun. I always say that the universe taps us on the shoulder. If we don’t get the nudge, then the universe taps a little harder. If we still don’t get the message, then we are liable to get one of those lateral lobotomies, whack to the side of our head. This Saturday could be one of those days. The Aries Moon begins the day with squares to both Mars and Venus both in Capricorn. Later in the day, the Aries Moon sextiles both Saturn and the Sun both in Aquarius. We might be hell bent to do whatever we choose as we start this Saturday, only to find that we are either restricted by our obligations for this day or else banging our head against the wall. Our self-importance is often hard to let go, but the universe provides taps on our shoulder by creating delays and frustrations if our intentions are out of synch with the natural unfolding. The morning hours of this Saturday could have us seem like the Keystone Kops with whatever we are trying to do being thwarted at every twist and turn. We might need to slow things down and recognize that delays could allow for reconsideration and reworking of our attempts. As the day unfolds, the afternoon and evening hours can allow for pleasant interactions with other people. Much of the impediments earlier in the day may drop away with us finding it easier sledding in the evening hours.
Sunday, February 6th – Still Banging Around – Mercury, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course. Sunday finishes the week with something of a repeat of Saturday. The Aries Moon today squares both Mercury and Pluto both in Capricorn. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for five and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before the Moon enters Taurus. We might have certain things we want to do on this Sunday but could feel constricted by our obligations and commitments. This is one of those days when a fly away from our routine would be appealing but liable to be thwarted. Saturday and Sunday might force us to deal with mundane matters, focus on projects yet to be completed, and have us resenting the impediments of our daily life. If we would take care of necessary errands without glossing over the details or skipping important components and without grousing about it, we could get necessary tasks out of the way in order to have a clean slate to begin new projects or just feel as though the weight of the world has been lifted off our shoulders. This weekend may not be all fun and games, but we don’t have to be irritated or prey to winter doldrums. The more we get out of our way over this weekend, the more we can take advantage of the highly productive energies next week. Let’s take care of what needs to get done and tune in a funny movie or tv show to lighten our mood.
