The astrology for this week of January 17th through the 23rd of 2022 may see a significant pivot from the power of the collective to the outcry of the individual.
The week begins with the Cancer Full Moon with Pluto very much in the mix of the Sun Moon opposition. Implosion, explosions can be evident as we witness ‘walls come tumblin’ down’.
If we have lived our lives as passive observers, reactive to whatever is presented to us rather than being spiritual warriors with machete in hand and carving our own path, then we could be pacing the floor, wringing our hands, and anxious at what we seem to be witnessing. But if we have accepted the changing conditions of this paradigm shift and determined to fulfill our optimum potential during these tumultuous times, then we might realize that the disruptions and dysfunctionalities are the soil to plant our seeds of better ways for brighter days.
Last year’s nemesis of the Saturn Uranus square is engaged and turned up as Uranus turns direct on Tuesday. Push – pulls of old and new are triggered, and it would be wise for us to take our time before responding to any unexpected situations, especially in light of the fact that we are in the first full week of the three-week Mercury retrograde.
Life might seem a kaleidoscope of shifting colors, patterns, with our direction impacted by unanticipated variables and flip-flops from official edicts.
Mid-week has a significant shift in energy as the Sun exits Capricorn to enter Aquarius. Gone is the Stellium of three planets in Capricorn, replaced by a Stellium in the Fixed Air Sign as the Sun joins Mercury and Saturn in Aquarius.
The general tenor in society may change dramatically as the characteristics of Aquarius become pronounced with calls for liberty, freedom, individual choice.
Almost mantram-like, we might be humming in our head the lyrics from Twisted Sister:
“We’re not gonna take it
Oh no, we ain’t gonna take it
We’re not gonna take it anymore
We’ve got the right to choose it
There ain’t no way we’ll lose it
This is our life…”
As if unleashed, we could be all over the place as we end this week and into the weekend. The latter part of the weekend can provide a sense of solace in these crazy times and offer the comfort of a good friend or friends.
While this week may be a real whipsaw of emotions and activity, let’s keep in mind that Mercury is retrograde. Consequently, it would be wise to avoid long-term commitments or significant decisions until after Mercury turns direct on the 3rd of February.
Monday, January 17th – Humpty Dumpty – Neptune, Pluto, Cancer Full Moon, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. Monday begins the week with the Cancer Moon trine Neptune, and the Moon opposed Pluto within orb of the Moon opposed Sun at the time of the Cancer Full Moon [6:48 PM EST]. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for less than four and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Cancer and before the Moon enters Leo late in the evening. This Monday could prove to be one intense day with wrenching emotions and a concern that we are not merely headed towards a dystopian future but that the future is now. Even if we give into our anxieties and fears, let’s keep in mind that from any crash and burn there is the opportunity of creating new foundation stones, building upon rock rather than on sand, and developing a stronger and brighter structure for ourselves. We might feel that we are living out the nursery rhyme of Humpty Dumpty, as a society or as an individual, with a great fall, unable to put things back together. But this paradigm shift is not about putting things back together the way they were. We are looking at creating a new future for ourselves that draws upon the innovative ingredients discovered and with an emphasis upon individual self-expression and personal creativity.
Tuesday, January 18th – Shocks to the System – Lunar T-Square, Mercury, Uranus, Uranus direct. Tuesday has the Leo Moon triggering a Fixed Sign T-Square as the Moon opposes Mercury, and the Moon squares Uranus. Uranus turns direct [10:27 AM EST]. We also have the trigger of last year’s Saturn Uranus square with the Moon square Uranus today, the Moon opposed Saturn tomorrow. We may feel thwarted by the conditions in which we find ourselves, both by what we have to do and by unexpected incidents that could throw us off our game. This day call for patience and humility. Many of us have the tendency, really liability, of plowing forward like a bulldozer with the belief that our persistence and determination can clinch the outcome we wish to achieve. Some of that may have been true in the past but less so during these disruptive times of the paradigm shift. Things today might not go according to plan, at least our plan. This day asks us to be flexible and adaptable, willing to put up with delays and frustrations and situations that we could hardly be prepared for. There may be shocks to our system, on a social level and on a personal level, so today would be a day to adopt the Taoist sentiment of ‘bend like a reed or break like an oak’. Let’s opt for reed-like today.
Wednesday, January 19th – Pivot – Saturn, Sun Aquarius. The Leo Moon opposes Saturn on this Wednesday completing the T-Square of yesterday and the Saturn Uranus square we dealt with last year. The Sun enters Aquarius [9:39 PM EST]. This Wednesday can have us dealing with old matters, present responsibilities and with us liable to go down the rabbit hole. It would be wise for us to recognize that what we see, what we hear, even what we perceive, are not always what we get. Any sense of restriction to our creative self-expression, to the ability of giving voice to our uniqueness, our thoughts, and our ideas, could seem far more threatening and intimidating than they actually are. Just because someone has a louder voice and might be more in tune with consensus opinion does not mean that truth or ‘right action’ is on their side. With the Sun entering Aquarius, the Sun ends the Stellium in Capricorn and creates a Stellium in Aquarius. The issue of compliance to official edicts may be less of a certainty. Whether it’s ‘been there, done that’ and with a firmness to not go back to previous behavior, or indications of cracks in the official narrative, people may be focused more on their freedom of choice, their emphasis on their own personal creativity and self-expression, and desiring liberty and freedom in their movements and their thoughts. For me, the pivot has been given force by Dave Chappelle with his jousting against cancel culture, and the machinations of officials over the Novak Djokovic tale in Australia, a tale of two conflicting officiating bodies. This could be the time each of us starts to pivot into our new life conditions and a time when the age-old slogan of ‘power to the people’ is reengaged.
Thursday, January 20th – Carried Away – Mars, Moon Void-of-Course, Jupiter. The early morning hours of Thursday has the Leo Moon trine Mars. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost six hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Leo and before the Moon enters Virgo where late in the day the Moon opposes Jupiter. As if having fire in our belly, possibly precipitated by the Sun’s entry into Aquarius yesterday, we could be feeling intent on exploring creative venues for ourselves and going for the gold. This Thursday may start off as a ‘me’ day when we are largely focused on what we want to do rather than what we need to do. As the day progresses, the wind in our sails might die down. We can become more focused on working the details and dealing with our usual tasks. Enamored with our effectiveness, we may even try to take on more and more. It would be wise for us to think and strategize before we act or proceed. This is one of those days when we could be fast out of the gate only to discover later that we have headed off in the wrong direction or put the cart before the horse. It would be best for us to engage our passion after we have determined a focal point and considered how to accomplish our purpose.
Friday, January 21st – Coming Together – Lunar Grand Trine, Uranus, Venus. Friday could prove the most productive and effective day of this week. The Virgo Moon triggers an Earth Grand Trine with the Moon trine Uranus in Taurus, and the Moon trine Venus in Capricorn. Everything can fit neatly together today. Not only could we advance our greatest ambitions, but we might do so by addressing the specifics, utilizing streamlined methodology, and presenting our efforts in an appealing and well-conceived manner. We have it going on today, and this is a day not to waste on mindless diversions or fascinating distractions. This Friday is a day for us to have our head down, nose to grindstone, and yet able to work smarter than harder. We can accomplish a great deal today. Someone may be intrigued and impressed by our undertakings. Although Mercury is retrograde, if we need to buy something immediately to make our efforts more efficient, not only could we find quality products, we might be able to buy them at a bargain. It would be wise to be certain of the return policy and the warranty stipulations. Everything we do today can be well put together from our routine involvements to our home environment, even to our wardrobe. It would be hard for anyone to find fault with how we appear or what we are doing today. On the contrary, we may gain the glowing admiration of someone or from other people by our successful efforts.
Saturday, January 22nd – As the Metronome Swings – Pluto, Lunar T-Square, Neptune, Mars, Moon Void-of-Course, Sun, Mercury. The thing about life and especially during these tumultuous times is that it is reminiscent of Tennyson’s poem paraphrased such: when life is good, it’s very good; but when life’s bad, it’s liable to be horrid. Yesterday could have had us on all cylinders, operating at our optimum. And if we were to keep our head down this Saturday morning, we could continue and complete certain matters. This Saturday continues with the Virgo Moon with the Moon trine Pluto, but the Moon also triggering a Mutable Sign T-Square as the Moon opposes Neptune, and the Moon squares Mars. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over two hours as the Moon finishes its transit of Virgo without making any further connections to the planets and before the Moon enters Libra later in the day, where the Moon trines both the Sun and Mercury both in Aquarius. Thanks to the accelerated pace of life and the constant bombardment of stimuli, people’s attention span is limited and far shorter now than years ago. We are continually fed information, entertainment, distractions and diversions, and we could fall prey to some today. We might be enticed to do any number of things on this Saturday, all with the justification that it’s the weekend, the time when we are geared to have fun, play, re-create. We could be so wound up today that even if we do try to deal with our errands or projects, our focus might be lacking with a liability of glossing over things just to get the matter done with and out of our hair. This Lunar T-Square is reminiscent of the Mars square Neptune back on Tuesday the 11th, so we need to aware, mindful and restrain ourselves from recklessness. The latter part of the day with the Moon moving into Libra shifts the energy to having a good time with a good friend[s] with the rest of the weekend targeted for some good times with good friends.
Sunday, January 23rd – Looking Forward, Keeping it Light – Venus, Saturn, Sun, Mercury. The Moon continues its transit of Libra with the Libra Moon square Venus and the Moon trine Saturn. The Sun conjuncts Mercury. This Sunday is a day to get together with friends, try something different, and think about our future plans. Conversations are likely to be lively and light. There might be hiccups with someone who is glued to the past with the hope and expectation that things will return to an old ‘normal’, but any ruffles in relationships can be ironed out late in the day. We just need to avoid controversial issues, especially in this climate when political divides are chasms and perspectives are often only opinions based upon lack of information, misinformation, or misunderstandings. Life is too much of a bungee cord leap to go beyond much more than preaching to the choir. Why add fuel to incendiary topics? No, this day is far better served considering how best to stretch our wings, consider our options, and devise the innovative means by which we can get from here to there all with an emphasis upon our individual expression and personal autonomy. Let’s enjoy our friends, put our faith in utopia ahead, and leave dystopia behind.
