The astrology for this week of December 13th through the 19th of 2021 can have us flying high but with a practical, well-conceived itinerary in hand.
The week begins with two Sign changes on Monday. Mars exits its own Sign of Scorpio to enter Sagittarius [4:53 AM EST], and Mercury exits Sagittarius to enter Capricorn [12:52 PM EST] with Mercury generating a Stellium in Capricorn as Mercury joins Venus and Pluto in the Cardinal Earth Sign.
While the Mars in Sagittarius can make us boisterous and exuberant, wanting to stretch our wings and expand our reach, we have to be wary of pushing the envelope and stretching far beyond our reach.
On a geopolitical level with Mars in Sagittarius, foreign affairs could be exacerbated with various hotspots percolating and with a liability of boiling over. Candidates for problematic issues include Ukraine, Taiwan, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, and other African nations. Add to it our nemesis for this year of the Saturn Uranus square, the third and final exact aspect on Christmas Eve, and we continue to see the political divide in many countries between executive decisions demanding compliance and people protests demanding individual freedoms.
Fortunately, the entry of Mercury into Capricorn and the Capricorn Stellium allows a more serious and responsible approach to whatever is going on.
There may be a desire to gallop ahead with little consideration of the where and the why, but the Capricorn influence may provide the reining in of any bone headed actions or ill-conceived decisions.
Much of this week might have us in holiday mode even if not fully engaged in holiday mood. After close to two years of social isolation, a time when we might have determined that we are less interested in mere distractions and diversions, we could see the holidays as but another Hallmark spectacle prodding people to buy into the consumer sentiment of more, more, more.
The mid-week period under the impact of the Taurus Moon could certainly have people out and about, or hitting away at computer keyboard keys, shopping and buying with a sense of traditions and reclaiming a certain normalcy that has been missing over recent months.
The end of the week and the weekend may have us in party mode with social engagements and fun get-togethers. Under the Full Moon and a Sun sextile Jupiter aspect, our weekend could have us indulging in good times with good friends. We just have to be wary of excess.
These are the holiday times, and we are likely to go full tilt this week and especially this weekend in enjoying ourselves. We may well want to put the cheer back into the year.
Monday, December 13th – All This, but More? – Sun, Pluto, Venus, Jupiter, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars Sagittarius, Mercury Capricorn. Monday begins the week with us in high gear. The week starts with the Moon in Aries with the Moon today trine the Sun, the Moon square both Venus and Pluto in Capricorn, and the Moon sextile Jupiter. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost five and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before the Moon enters Taurus early Tuesday morning. Mars exits its own Sign of Scorpio and enters Sagittarius [4:53 AM EST], and Mercury exits Sagittarius to enter Capricorn [12:52 PM EST]. Mercury’s entrance into the Cardinal Earth Sign creates a Stellium of three planets as Mercury joins Venus and Pluto in Capricorn, which will provide a counterbalance to being too expansive during this period. We may be in high gear as we start this day and this week. Our interest may be primarily extending our reach, engaging more involvements, and filling our ‘to do’ list up to the brim and possibly over. Although we may be feeling upbeat and indefatigable today, we are also liable to put many of our mundane responsibilities on the back burner and concentrate instead on those matters that are foreign or new to us. ‘Same old, same old’ might not cut it for us today. We are far more interested in spreading our wings and soaring with the eagles than being grounded or restricted by our practical, usual matters. If we do attend our usual responsibilities, it would be important that we not merely gloss over situations but rather utilize due diligence to both stretch beyond our normal parameters and also effectively take care of our obligations. Let’s keep in mind the silver cord that provides the life thread between our higher self and our physical body. We can both reach beyond our normal parameters and maintain what we need to get done. This is a day when we can have our ‘head in the clouds and our feet firmly planted on the ground’. All this, but more?
Tuesday, December 14th – Conceptual Easier than Implementation – Mercury, Saturn. Tuesday has the Moon moving into Taurus where today the Moon trines Mercury to begin the day, and the Moon squares Saturn to end the day with the Moon triggering the Saturn Uranus square with the Moon square Saturn today, and the Moon conjunct Uranus early Wednesday morning. This Tuesday can have us highly focused, taking on a practical approach and strategizing how we can best attend to both our responsibilities and our holiday preparations. Everything could seem incredibly streamlined as if we are operating on greased wheels. The more we can accomplish during this day, the less flummoxed we shall be tomorrow. While we are able to employ time management skills, late in the day we might feel frustrated or disappointed by matters beyond our control. Our nemesis for the year, the Saturn Uranus square, is in play today and tomorrow with the third and final exact aspect of this square on Christmas Eve, the 24th. The ravages of inflation with increased costs of virtually everything, supply chain disruptions limiting availability to the point of certain items being unavailable, and unanticipated delays may wreak havoc with our plans and our intentions. It would be wise to remember the adage that ‘if you want to make god laugh, tell god your plans’. Options and alternatives are necessary today and tomorrow to avoid anger at things that are far beyond our control. As the Taoists remind us, these times call for us ‘to bend like a reed or break like an oak’.
Wednesday, December 15th – the Mundane and the Spiritual – Uranus, Neptune. Wednesday has the Taurus Moon finishing its trigger of the Saturn Uranus square early in the day as the Moon conjuncts Uranus. The Moon ends the day with a sextile to Neptune. Much of the push – pull of recent times has been what has often been referred to as: “render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s.” We have had the challenge, and the opportunity, during these times to find the balance between the mundane with anxiety ratcheting up and the spiritual with personal creativity engaged. Many people either succumbed to fear from the constant barrage of the anxiety-provoking media or they embraced their spirit to find avenues for their soul expression. This Wednesday may be reminiscent of the juxtaposition of the mundane and the spiritual. Even if unexpected situations occur early in the day to trip us up, we may find that we have the wherewithal to determine alternate courses of action, options we might not have earlier considered. These times call for us to take off the blinders and to work with peripheral vision, to let go of our preconceptions and to be open to the magic and wonder of possibilities. No matter the delays, difficulties or frustrations we encounter on Tuesday and Wednesday, we could discover that through meditation, contemplation and reflection we are able to find better ways. Our spirit may be enhanced as the day unfolds.
Thursday, December 16th – Keeping the Focus – Pluto, Venus, Jupiter, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars. Wednesday evening may have confirmed the sentiments of the poem and Christmas carol “It Came Upon the Midnight Clear”. One of the beauties at this time of year is that the veil between dimensions seems so much thinner. A sense of the spirit, the ethereal, and the non-tangible just feel so much stronger. And so it may have been for us on Wednesday evening, when we might have felt guided, protected and given a hunch that everything that truly mattered was really all right. This Thursday has the Taurus Moon trine both Venus and Pluto both in Capricorn. The Moon then squares Jupiter before going Void-of-Course for four and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Taurus and before the Moon enters Gemini where late in the day the Gemini Moon opposes Mars. From a spiritual impetus, this Thursday allows us to be highly productive and to get a lot done. We can deal with outstanding matters, engage holiday preparations, and give thought to our resolutions for the year ahead. One of the key characteristics in our doing life is the question of balance, maintaining an equilibrium amidst all the many activities and involvements we engage. While we can have our head down and plow through all sorts of interests today, the balance could shift as we move through the day. Whether we feel that we have been so effective that we can take on evermore or our own arrogance of invincible indefatigability, the latter part of the day could have us trying to do too much and in the process doing so in a slipshod manner. By the end of the day we could be so overextended that like Humpty Dumpty we might feel like ‘all fall down’.
Friday, December 17th – Starting Early – Saturn. Friday continues with the Gemini Moon with the Moon today trine Saturn. Any frenetic energy of yesterday seems tamped down today. With this weekend starting the Christmas week, some people might decide to take off today for the holidays. Those who are still around could be looking at finalizing their holiday plans and preparations. For a Gemini Moon and certainly in contrast to yesterday’s Moon opposed Mars and tomorrow’s Gemini Full Moon, this Friday seems placid and a good time to get together with a friend or friends. Social gatherings can be pleasant and specially if we are seeing people we have not seen since the beginning of this virus contagion. Last year may have been a bust for holiday gatherings, but this year we are likely to more than make up for it. Whether we get together with people or reach out and contact them by text, email, phone, etc., this Friday can have us chatting up people and engaging even those people from our distant past. This Friday could have us starting our holidays early with a two-week period of good times with good friends.
Saturday, December 18th – Too Much Fun – Neptune, Gemini Full Moon, Sun. Saturday has the Gemini Moon square Neptune with the Neptune in a wide orb of a T-Square at the time of the Gemini Full Moon [11:36 PM EST] when the Sun opposes the Moon and with the Full Moon also in orb of the Moon trine Jupiter early Sunday morning. We may well throw wide open the door of possibilities this weekend. We are looking to celebrate, full of good cheer, and willing to go full bore in having fun, enjoying ourselves and having good times with good friends, or even celebrating in a party of one, alone. No matter the tragedies in the world or the dystopian narrative projected, we are unlikely to allow anyone or anything to dampen our holiday mode or our holiday mood. We are focused on putting the cheer into this year. We just have to be careful not to imbibe too much of the holiday spirit or spirits. A liability to excess cannot be discounted, since we are likely to be spontaneous, even impulsive, and willing to sample a little bit, or a lot, of everything. This is a weekend when we could engage a blow out with much indulgence. And why not when for over a year we have suffered various scary situations and scare tactics that have tried to rob us of personal choices, deprived us of individual freedoms, and demanded compliance as if sucking the essence and our very soul out of us? It’s time for good times and to fully embrace the truth of the paradigm shift with its magic and miracles. There is far more to life and to true reality than what appears or is presented to us.
Sunday, December 19th – Going for the Gold – Jupiter, Moon Void-of-Course, Sun, Venus retrograde. The Gemini Moon trines Jupiter in the early morning hours. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over three and a half hours as the Moon makes no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Gemini and before the Moon enters Cancer early on Sunday morning. The Sun sextiles Jupiter, and Venus turns retrograde [5:36 AM EST]. The upbeat attitude we might have garnered from yesterday’s Full Moon with its vast wealth of possibilities is enhanced on this Sunday. Delusional or illusional or realistic possibilities, no matter, we may be feeling confident, optimistic and enthusiastic today and this weekend. We might feel as though we have been pumped up with faith and true belief on our ability to successfully play whatever hand is dealt us. Someone locked into the negativity of these times might criticize any happy-go-lucky attitude. People could be more critical of other people, seeing the flaws and discounting the attributes, but nothing and no one can take the wind out of our sails. Whether our prospects are realistic or fantastic, we are committing ourselves to the best of all possible worlds. This weekend is a weekend of celebration, celebrating the holidays, celebrating our loved ones and our friendships, and celebrating the opportunities that we believe may present themselves with our commitment to go for the gold, recognizing that gold might not be merely physical accumulation but the alchemical process of turning the base mettle of ego personality into the gold of self-realization with its awakening and ascension.
