The astrology for this week of May 3rd through the 9th of 2021 could provide a real whipsaw of emotions and actions, all the while that we are struggling to free ourselves from blockages, delays and frustrations, as if fighting our way out of a paper bag.
The week begins with our year’s nemesis – the Taurus Aquarius square – engaged. We may have great plans for the week but with few resources to accomplish our grand schemes. ‘What is’ and ‘what could be’ might have us feeling challenged and thwarted, but it would be wise to remind ourselves that life is going through a major paradigm shift. As we move from a linear, sequential reality where things occur with a beginning, middle and end and move into an asequential reality where things occur in the most inexplicable ways with flavorings of what appear to be magic and miracles; we do not have to do it all. Instead of assuming control over our life’s circumstance and conditions, we have the opportunity of embracing our role as co-creators with the universal unfolding, if we would only be open to receive.
While the Taurus – Aquarius conundrum is engaged this week, we also have two major shifts in energy with the result being a diminishment of the Taurean influence. The Taurus Stellium of four planets in the Fixed Earth Sign dissolves with Mercury exiting Taurus to enter Gemini, a Sign that Mercury rules, to begin the week, and Venus exiting its own Sign of Taurus to enter Gemini over the weekend.
Despite any sense of running the race with a hundred pound weight tied around our ankle, we may feel a certain heaviness and lethargy lifted from us, replaced by a curiosity and an interest in getting out and about and exploring the new world that has transformed during our lengthy lockdown and imposed restrictions.
Not that the restrictions have been totally lifted. They have only shifted from the daily covid cases and death count to the metrics of those who have taken the ‘vaccine’ under the threat of vaccine passports to our mobility and more importantly the promise of invincibility, as though this seemingly magic elixir will prevent any infirmities and on the contrary promise everlasting life or at least continued living.
Fear mongering may have gotten tiresome, and we might resort to faith, even blind faith, and hope of a higher and greater source than ourselves as Jupiter enters Pisces next week. Even the antics of the powers-that-be with the ginned up chaos, confusion and political correctness all seem increasingly like blathering static to which we no longer pay much attention.
The weekend allows us to explore new worlds, engage social connections, and honor our mother and our ancestors as we take the time to appreciate the comfort and nurture provided by the maternal instincts.
Monday, May 3rd – Wish We Could, But Can’t – Uranus, Saturn, Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Mercury Gemini. Monday begins the week with the Taurus – Aquarius square reinforced. We have a Stellium of three or more planets in Taurus with the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Uranus in the Fixed Earth Sign, and a Stellium in Aquarius with the Moon, Saturn and Jupiter in the Fixed Air Sign. Today, the Aquarius Moon conjuncts Saturn and the Moon squares both Uranus and the Sun both in Taurus. This push – pull is increased by the Taurus Mercury square the Aquarius Jupiter, and the Taurus Sun square Aquarius Saturn. Late in the day, Mercury exits Taurus to enter its own Sign of Gemini [10:49 PM EDT]. We may have grand plans for this day and for this week, but we might feel stymied in making things happen. Things in concept often take longer to manifest on the earth plane. Our mind is like a high-speed computer able to process, visualize and effect, whereas the earth plane is a physically dense reality with things often taking longer to manifest than how we foresee them in our mind. This Monday could have us painfully aware of the paradox between possibilities and the difficulties in realizing our plans. While we might want to jump ahead, concentrate on our future goals and draw upon the input of other people, our responsibilities and the specific details and our lack of resources can have us feeling victims of the sentiment expressed by 18th Century poet Robert Burns paraphrased as: “The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” Let’s do what we need to do today with an appreciation that things can start to lighten up as Mercury comes into Gemini and opens the floodgates of all sorts of ideas and communications with various people.
Tuesday, May 4th – Good Guys – Venus, Jupiter. Tuesday continues with the Aquarius Moon with the Moon triggering the two ‘good guys’ of the planetary realm, Venus and Jupiter. The Moon squares Venus and the Moon conjuncts Jupiter shortly before the Moon exits Aquarius and enters Pisces late in the day. This is a day when we might engage the too muches. We could spend too much, try to do too much, go out of our way for someone too much, and other forms of too much we might take on. It would be wise to keep our own counsel, for people can be encouraging each other with blind optimism and false confidence. Today, it is suggested we maintain a conservative attitude and restrained action. Otherwise, excess and indulgence can turn out to be our ‘go to’. Budgets, tight scheduling, and a rein on our enthusiasm would prevent us from going overboard. While we may always enjoy the benefits of Venus and Jupiter, the downside with each of them is a liability to extreme, whether in our relationships and our purchases, or with an enthusiasm beyond the reality of the situation. It may be necessary to apply braking action today, but far better for us to pump the brakes rather than find ourselves on a runaway train speeding towards a catastrophe of great expenses and idle prospects. Late in the day, the Moon enters Pisces beginning a two-day period when our cultural and spiritual interests are enhanced.
Wednesday, May 5th – Celebrating What – Mercury, Mars, Uranus. The Pisces Moon today squares Mercury, the Moon trines Mars, and the Moon sextiles Uranus. This is May 5th, Cinco de Mayo, a day that has become celebratory in Mexican culture for the defeat of the French at the hands of the Mexicans in 1862 in Puebla. In the late 1960s, the holiday started to be celebrated in the US with tequila, cerveza, guacamole and tortilla chips. This Wednesday, the 5th, has the Pisces Moon square Mercury, the Moon trine Mars, and the Moon sextile Uranus. We might be a little dazed as we start the day, our head filled with all sorts of possibilities and all of them likely to be far more impressionistic than representational. Time spent at home with family and friends could be far more enjoyable and relaxing than being out and about. We have our own personal sanctuary that we may have crafted during the lockdown and over recent days. The evening hours can open the door to engaging surprises. We might choose to be spontaneous in the evening hours, be out and about, and participate in fun, unexpected events. Whether we celebrate the Mexican victory over the French or not, we can celebrate life and all the blessings in our living.
Thursday, May 6th – Vision and Implementation Together – Sun, Neptune, Venus, Pluto. Thursday has the Pisces Moon sextile the Sun, and the Moon conjunct Neptune. Venus trines Pluto. Thursday could be the most productive day of this week. The Pisces Moon sextiles the Sun, and the Moon conjuncts Neptune. Venus trines Pluto. While we might be highly emotional, we can also be effective by drawing upon our intuitive sense and visualization to come up with a best practices approach for implementation. People may be in a highly collaborative mood, looking to create win-win situations and with the sense of the truth to the proverb that ‘many hands make light work’. Team efforts today could draw upon the strategic planning and the solid efforts of all concerned. More can get done today than at many other times. This is not a day to waste. We can be emotional but let’s avoid getting moody and falling into a victim mentality. By drawing upon our spiritual side, we might feel guided by a force or forces greater than our individual self towards our personal destiny. Combine the belief that things work out the way they are supposed to with the assistance from other people and we could virtually move mountains today.
Friday, May 7th – Spirit in Action – Pluto, Venus, Mercury. The very early morning hours of this Friday have the Pisces Moon sextile Pluto in Capricorn and the Moon sextile Venus in Taurus. Yesterday, we had Venus trine Pluto. The Moon then exits Pisces to enter Aries as we begin our day. Late in the day, the Aries Moon sextiles Mercury. This is a day when we can engage our sense of being directed and guided by a force other than our own to get things done, focus on the details and with an appreciation for the aphorism given by legendary basketball coach John Wooden that ‘little things make big things happen’. With this Friday having the Moon completing its transit of Pisces, the last Sign of the Zodiac, and the Moon entering Aries, the first Sign of the Zodiac, we are experiencing the completion of one monthly cycle and the beginning of a new cycle. Completions and beginnings are the highlights for this day. We can tie up loose ends, deal with pressing matters, all with feeling impelled to clear the decks in order to initiate and start new projects as the Moon comes into Aries. The evening would be a good time to discuss our ideas and our plans for our future.
Saturday, May 8th – Over the Top – Mars, Saturn, Venus, Jupiter, Venus Gemini. Saturday has the Aries Moon square Mars and the Moon sextile Saturn. The two ‘good guys’ of the planetary realm, Venus and Jupiter, are in square aspect. Late Friday and early Saturday we may be raring to go, and we could start our day in full throttle with a focus on the great amount we wish to take on. Back on Tuesday when the Aquarius Moon squared Venus and the Moon was conjunct Jupiter, we might have tried to do too much. A similar pattern is occurring today, when we might go wild with expenditures, enjoying ourselves without taking into account the costs. If we would plan our moves, schedule our day, and focus on the steps necessary to achieve our goals, then we could prevent ourselves from going over the top. Today is a good day to get together with a friend or friends and do something other than our usual or our familiar. Late in the day, Venus exits its own Sign of Taurus, ending the Stellium in the Fixed Earth Sign, and enters Gemini [10:01 PM EDT]. Our social inclinations can be strong, and we are likely to reach out to any number of people over the next three weeks while Venus transits Gemini.
Sunday, May 9th – Mother Love – Pluto, Jupiter. Sunday is Mother’s Day, and we might feel obliged to honor our mother. Whether we get together in person with our mother or we reach out by phone, text, email or social platform, we are likely to celebrate the lady who brought us into this world, our maternal ancestors, and the women who brighten our world. The Moon continues its transit of Aries with the Moon square Pluto, and the Moon sextile Jupiter before the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and enters Taurus later in the day. While our need to fulfill commitments today may put a damper on what we might prefer to do, social engagements can actually be fun engagements. We might get together with family, with friends, all in a rousing sense of companionship and appreciation for those special people in our lives. We may have to fulfill our responsibilities today, but we might glean more from the encounters than we anticipate. After a period of lengthy lockdown when we were unable to gather together, unable to hug or be close to one another, this day allows us to express our gratitude for our blessings and for the wonderful people who add so much to our life. This is a day to celebrate our mother, the significant people in our life, and the awe and wonder of living life.
