The astrology for this week of May 24th through the 30th of 2021 could support the belief that the world and our style of living are going to hell in a handbasket.
We might take solace, or admonition, from the words of country
artist Doug Seegers in his song Going Down to the River:
“I’m going down to the river to wash my soul again
I’ve been runnin’ with the Devil and I know that he’s not my friend
I’ve been falling by the wayside, livin’ in this world of sin
I’m going down to the river, gonna wash my soul again
I’m going down to the country, to bury my head in the creek
I’m gonna jump into that water, baptize both my feet
‘Cause everywhere I’ve been walking, I’ve been getting in trouble deep
I’m going down to the river, gonna wash my soul again
Well, this whole world’s, going to hell in a handbasket
If I don’t get some resurrection soon
I’m gonna end up in a casket…”
This week begins with us able to draw upon our faith and our indomitable spirit to recognize that there is something more, much more, than the gibberish and images presented to us.
We have the Taurus Aquarius square to contend with at the beginning of the week with a Fixed Sign T-Square hampering us and having us in a tug-of-war between what has been and the impressions of what can be. Despite the push – pulls of our mundane world, we could cut through the illusions and delusions to get a real sense of what is really going on.
One of the dispositions that grew out of the long lockdowns of our recent past was the opportunity to go into spiritual retreat. With fewer distractions and turning down the bombardment of stimuli, people had the ability to focus on their own creative spirit no matter what form that expression of talent took. Personal growth and development allowed for an ascension whereby the person would never be the same.
Some people during the lockdown decided only to pace the floor, wring their hands in constant anxiety as they listened intently to the fear mongering.
Life will never be the same.
While the Taurus Aquarius square will dog us for all of this year of 2021, the friction may well provide a dynamic for each of us to determine our way forward on our individual journey through this life experience. Some people may put on blinders to focus solely on what is right in front of them and react to the narrative put forth, while others take off the blinders and recognize a world beyond the infinite and engage a realm of limitless possibilities. Choice, always our choice.
One thing to consider during this paradigm shift is that things can change suddenly and dramatically, as evidenced by the life story of Doug Seegers, a homeless musician who found international stardom at the age of 62.
This mid-week has a Sun Moon opposition at the Sagittarius Full Moon, a lunar eclipse, and triggers a Mutable Sign T-Square. The energy might be ratcheted up severalfold, and we should maintain due diligence and not be swayed by our emotions. Our nerves can be heightened, and it would be wise to avoid any knee-jerk reactions. How often have we been told one thing only to find out at a later date that what we were told had little veracity, if any.
Although there is an acceleration occurring with everything speeding up, we need to avoid a rush to judgment, but rather apply the brakes, and recognize that we unlikely have full information.
The weekend is the long Memorial Day weekend in the US, the unofficial start to summer. Mercury turns retrograde for its three-week retrograde cycle in its own Sign of Gemini giving greater thrust to the liable convolutions. Ideas, communications, travel are among the areas that could be disjointed and disruptive.
We end this week the way we started the week – with the Saturn Aquarius and Uranus Taurus square triggered by a Lunar T-Square.
This is a week for to heed the words in the Rudyard Kipling poem If: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/46473/if—
Monday, May 24th – Fantasy & Reality – Jupiter, Lunar T-Square, Uranus, Saturn. Monday begins this week with the Scorpio Moon trine Jupiter early in the morning. We may feel as if we are being guided by our faith and our destiny with our focus on the truly essential. Our spiritual character might be enhanced as we start the week, and we could be going blithely along through much of this day. Although each of us has an earthbound personality characteristic and also an eternal soul aspect, often the two are in disconnect. We are often blinded by the so-called reality of the earth plane, but this Monday initially has us drawing upon our inner being with a belief that we are proceeding rightly along our own personal path of our individual life journey. Late in the day, we may feel knocked off the narrow balance beam of our way as mundane reality forces us to address the yin – yang of earth life duality. The Saturn in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus is engaged by the Scorpio Moon triggering a Fixed Sign T-Square with the Moon opposed Uranus and the Moon square Saturn. Disruptions and frustrations can bollix our plans and our forward movement. This is a day for us to find balance between the extreme optimism we might feel early in the day and the impediments we could encounter late in the day.
Tuesday, May 25th – Opening for the Attentive – Pluto, Lunar Grand Trine, Mars, Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course. Astrology is about cycles and provides awareness of the differing energy configurations and how they might impact us. Everything is about timing and mindfulness. And we could certainly see the metronome swing between Monday evening and Tuesday. Yesterday ended with a Fixed Sign T-square where we may have felt stuck, frustrated, and blocked from advancing our interests. Tuesday is like a one-eighty, for today the Scorpio Moon triggers a Water Grand Trine with the Scorpio Moon trine Mars in Cancer and the Moon trine Neptune in Pisces. The Moon sextiles Pluto just before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for five hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Scorpio and before the Moon enters Sagittarius late in the day. This is a day when we can engage our intuitive sense with a passion to accomplish our goals effectively and expeditiously. If we stumbled yesterday, we could easily glide through today. Things can fall neatly into place almost magically if we would be open to the hunches and feelings about how things should go. This is a day for us to be open in order to receive. What a difference a day makes.
Wednesday, May 26th – High Octane – Jupiter, Sagittarius Full Moon, Lunar Eclipse, Sun, Saturn. Wednesday has the Sagittarius Full Moon [7:14 AM EDT], a Lunar Eclipse, with the Sagittarius Moon also triggering a Mutable Sign T-Square as the Sagittarius Moon squares Jupiter in Pisces and the Moon opposes the Sun in Gemini. This is a most significant energy configuration, for Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius and also the traditional ruler of Pisces. The day ends with the Moon sextile Saturn. There is an awakening occurring among humankind. Awareness and higher consciousness are increasing. While the powers-that-be might assume that the lockdowns in reaction to the virus contagion would make the people more compliant and more accepting of the edicts handed down to them, the true response to the lockdowns may have been an enforced spiritual retreat and a time when people looked internally, worked on themselves and determined what was really important to them. As though the dross was being removed as the stimuli and distractions lessened, people consciously and even unconsciously had the opportunity of a bump-up in awareness and an ascension in consciousness. Those people who merely wrung their hands, paced the floor and gave into the fear mongering may have lost a golden opportunity for their personal growth and spiritual development, and consequently this energy configuration today could ramp up for them anxiety as they see our beautiful world as but a dystopia and they fall prey to negativity with its sense of victimhood and the discounting of all the myriad of blessings each of us has in living life, instead seeing only everything wrong with the world. For those in process of ascending in consciousness, today’s energy can impel us to put our spirit into action. Free will with its choice, always our choice.
Thursday, May 27th – Dubious Practices – Lunar T-Square, Venus, Neptune, Mercury, Moon Void-of-Course. Thursday continues with the Sagittarius Moon and the Mutable T-Square although with different players from yesterday’s T-Square. Today, the Sagittarius Moon squares Neptune in Pisces and the Moon opposes both Venus and Mercury both in Gemini. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost nine hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Sagittarius and before the Moon enters Capricorn early on Friday morning. Venus squares Neptune. This is a day when we could run fast ahead without checking the signals along the way. What we see may not be what we get, and what we hear might not reveal the true reality of a situation. We have to be careful of dubious practices and wary of people who are slick and smarmy. We need to keep our wits about us today, avoid making commitments or taking things at face value. Not everyone comes from integrity. Some people are manipulative with the intention of winning at all costs. Infatuations and falling for appeals could tantalize us, so this Thursday demands that we make no snap judgement or immediate decisions. Far better for us to take our time to evaluate what is going on and with whom we are truly dealing rather than falling prey to the hucksters.
Friday, May 28th – Back on the Ground – Jupiter, Uranus. The Moon in Capricorn today helps us get our feet back on the ground. The past two days may have been a kaleidoscope of activities, emotions, feelings, and ups and downs due to the Sagittarius Moon triggering Mutable Sign T-Squares. Whether literally or figuratively, we are liable to have been all over the place. The Capricorn Moon sextiles Jupiter early in the day, and the Moon trines Uranus later in the day. This coming weekend in the US is the long Memorial Day holiday weekend considered the unofficial start to the summer. Some people may choose to take off whether out of town to go to the mountains or to the water or to other locations out of town. Others might decide to stay around home, barbecue and enjoy the company of family and friends. After a long lockdown that felt for some like solitary confinement, the loosening of the restrictions by the authorities allows for reunions and reconnections with those people we have been missing from our life, sometimes for as much as a year. Whether we go or stay, we are more grounded and focused on what we want to do. Later in the day, we might consider shaking things up, doing something different, even spontaneous actions, to add a little spice to our life. We can breathe easier and may even assume that we our returning our life to ‘normal’.
Saturday, May 29th – Here We Go Again – Mars, Neptune, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury, Venus, Mercury retrograde. The Capricorn Moon today opposes Mars, the Moon sextiles Neptune, and the Moon conjuncts Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost six hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Capricorn and before the Moon enters Aquarius a few minutes after midnight tomorrow. Mercury turns retrograde for its second of this year’s three Mercury retrograde cycles. This is a day when the push – pull between just having a good time and having the time to address pressing mundane matters can have us feeling like we’re in a no-win situation. Either we put what we need to get done on the back burner and enjoy ourselves with the justification of this being the weekend of the unofficial start to summer or we focus on our ‘to do’ list and deal with projects that need to get done. With this conundrum in mind and with a high level of confusion thrown in thanks to Mercury changing direction we could wear ourselves out just thinking about what we want to do and what we need to do. With Mercury turning retrograde for its three-week retrograde cycle, we are enlisting Murphy’s Law once again where ‘whatever can go wrong could go wrong’. And this Mercury retrograde going through its own Sign of Gemini might be a real doozy. The liability of miscommunications, misunderstandings, misdirections and various other misses to throw us for a loop is ratcheted up severalfold. Navigating through these recent tumultuous and turbulent times has been challenging enough before throwing this Mercury retrograde into the mix. Let’s be careful out there.
Sunday, May 30th – Good Times Amidst the Chaos – Sun, Uranus, Saturn. Sunday has the Moon moving into Aquarius where today the Moon trines the Sun. To end the day, we have our year’s nemesis of the Uranus in Taurus square Saturn in Aquarius as the Moon squares Uranus and the Moon conjuncts Saturn. Let’s enjoy ourselves and the camaraderie of good friends and family members. No matter how crazy or crazy-making these times might seem, we can still find something to amuse ourselves. Let’s keep in mind that our attitude and behavior are always our choice. We may be influenced by the antics in the world-at-large, but we do not have to be controlled by them. Summer, or at least our sense of summer, is upon us. We have suffered the isolation and lockdowns of this virus contagion, and few of us are willing to maintain confinement when the weather is warmer, and nature is in full bloom with the enticement for us to get out and about. This week may have been bookended by the Uranus Saturn square, but the friction of these two energies could provide a dynamic indicative of the paradigm shift where things can change suddenly and dramatically. We can draw upon the life experience of Doug Seegers for validation of life’s dramatic changes. We only need to see the opportunities within the challenges and focus on good times amidst the chaos.
