The astrology for this week of January 11th through the 17th of 2021 may have us doing the Texas two-step of one step forward, two steps back, two steps forward, one step back.
One significant interplay during this entire year of 2021 is the square between Taurus and Aquarius transiting planets, and especially the Saturn Uranus square, which will be exact on February 17th, June 14th, and December 24th.
This week has injections of this Taurus – Aquarius square with Mercury square Uranus on Tuesday, Mars square Saturn on Wednesday, and Jupiter square Uranus on Sunday.
The Mercury square Uranus is my least favorite configuration for travel and communications. Air travel and travel in general could be disrupted, and we might experience issues with clear communications and problems with Internet and computer matters.
The push – pulls this week may seem extreme but with a sense of the sentiment of the 1978 movie Every Which Way But Loose.
There may be times this week when we feel like we’re running forward only to find ourselves like a dog chasing its tail running in circles.
The highlight for this week is the Capricorn New Moon late on Tuesday, early Wednesday morning [12:00 AM EST]. Impacting the next two weeks, this New Moon may be reminiscent of the age-old nursery rhyme or folksong Ring a Ring o’ Roses with its lyric: ‘We all fall down.’
This period can be a time when we experience whether organizations, institutions, people, and other entities have ‘built upon rock or built upon sand’. These two weeks can be times fraught with upheavals to personal, societal, geophysical and atmospheric systems. We shall determine whether our foundations are solid or liable to be washed away.
Punctuated by the Capricorn New Moon with the Sun Moon conjunction conjunct Pluto, this two-week period starting early Wednesday can be explosive and demands that we exercise extreme caution with the willingness to go slow, evaluate and recalibrate as we go along, and not get either fixed or rigid in our plans or our actions. People’s intensity may ratchet up evermore.
We may start the week on a high note, ‘walking on sunshine’ and positive about our future with a belief that all the blue meanies have been put away. Unexpected news could disrupt our mindset and force us to look at matters we thought were concluded but seem to unravel.
While the mid-week can be highly intense, and with the liability of reporting of virus spikes, mutations, and a continuing death count; we need to take off our blinders and be open to information that might be beyond our usual sources of information or our previous comprehension.
This is a week to ‘hold steady’ with our head in the clouds giving thought to our future plans but our feet firmly planted on the ground dealing with our present reality, no matter the shifting parameters.
If we would focus on our priorities, put on blinders to the anxiety-provoking and fear mongering, and concentrate on our personal journey, we can advance our interests, engage our new year’s resolutions, and determine a strong mind-body-spirit health regimen for ourselves for the year ahead. We shall have to watch stimulants, because life itself can be more than stimulating.
The weekend might be a time for a spiritual retreat, reconnect with nature and acknowledge natural law, and appreciate the truth to the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-sabi with its thesis of ‘the perfection of imperfection’.
Monday, January 11th – Whistle While We Work – Mars, Venus, Uranus, Mercury, Jupiter. Although Monday begins with the Sagittarius Moon Void-of-Course, the energy shifts quickly as the Moon enters Capricorn, where today the Capricorn Moon conjuncts Venus and the Moon trines both Mars and Uranus both in Taurus. Mercury conjuncts Jupiter. We can be upbeat, looking towards our future plans, and focused on being effective with less expenditure of energy. We may feel confident, even inspired, with a dogged determination to accomplish our goals. There is a nice blend of energy, combining our optimistic thought processes with the physical persistence to see things through. Despite the static and theatrics going on in the world-at-large, it is important that we concentrate on our personal journey. The parameters and societal backdrop might shift and change, but we can persevere by keeping an optimistic attitude and embracing the true aphorism that ‘we never get more than we can handle’. We might have to put on blinders, keep attentive to our personal matters, yet always flexible and willing to adapt and alter according to the rapidly changing dynamics of these times.
Tuesday, January 12th – Blacked Out – Neptune, Mercury, Uranus. Tuesday has the Capricorn Moon sextile Neptune. Mercury squares Uranus. We are on the dark side of the Moon prior to the Capricorn New Moon late tonight, early Wednesday morning. Today has in play my least favorite energy configuration, Mercury square Uranus, which can create difficulties with air travel, travel itself, computer problems, misunderstandings, and Internet problems, et. al. We might not get full information or even correct information today. We could even have difficulty with telecommunications, unable to share thoughts or get necessary input regarding what is truly going on. This Tuesday calls for us to draw upon our intuitive sense, our feeling nature, to suss out what is really going on. Being on the dark side of the Moon, today would be better served by completions, eliminations, rather than initiations and start-ups. Let’s be aware that this New Moon late today, early tomorrow, triggers a two-week period when the intensity is ratcheted up ever more, various crashes and burns going on, and a two-week period that might well test our very fortitude and sanity. If we could slow things down today, catch a breath and ready ourselves for the days ahead, we can prepare to handle whatever life throws at us over the next two-week period.
Wednesday, January 13th – Rock or Sand – Capricorn New Moon, Sun, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Saturn, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Venus. We begin Wednesday with the Capricorn New Moon [12:00 AM EST] and the Sun Moon conjunction then conjunct Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost nine and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Capricorn and before the Moon enters Aquarius where today the Moon conjuncts both Saturn and Jupiter both in Aquarius and the Moon squares both Mars and Uranus both in Taurus. Mars squares Saturn, and Venus trines Uranus. This day begins a two-week period of ‘crash and burn’, times when we might feel that we are at the very darkest period of life unfolding. Various explosions and eruptions can go on during this two-week period. We are at the threshold of a paradigm shift, but like any birth there are often growing pains, labor pains, birthing pains. And we might feel the pain during the next two weeks. Although some of us may see the present and unfolding future as a dystopian and surreal landscape, it is also important that we maintain our faith in the goodness of life and living and hold on to the glimmers of better ways and better days ahead. There could be spikes in the count of virus contagion with mutations of virus that can seem to threaten humanity. Increased regulations and restrictions may enforce further impositions on our free expression. No matter how severe limitations to our movements might seem, it is essential that we keep in mind that birthing into a new way forward can be delayed or postponed, but never truly quashed. Like the Texas two-step, we might have to go backwards before we advance ahead. We just ‘gotta believe’ in the natural, and magical, unfolding of life and our own personal lives, and draw upon the support and comfort of those people who see their way.
Thursday, January 14th – Transformations and Disruptions – Mercury, Moon Void-of-Course, Sun, Pluto, Uranus direct. Thursday has the Aquarius Moon conjunct Mercury in the early morning hours. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost thirty-seven hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Aquarius and before the Moon enters Pisces late on Friday. The Sun conjuncts Pluto, and Uranus turns direct. Surprising news could be disconcerting. We might feel as though the rug has been pulled out from under us once again. Concern may be raised as the specter of covid cases and deaths increasing are drummed into us to reinforce compliance and the need to obey the edicts. This is a time for us to search what we consider to be the true meaning and purpose to our lives. While disruptions to life can be challenging, they also allow the impetus to get off square one and force us to engage the rapid dynamics into personal and even societal transformations. We can consider all possibilities without limiting ourselves by the perceived parameters or restrictions. We do not have to know the specific ways by which to get from one point to another. Rather it is important that we give breath and breadth to our intentions. As self-help author Napoleon Hill insisted: “whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” Today and tomorrow might be best served as a hiatus point, allowing us to ruminate, to think without acting, and to consider the dramatic shifts occurring inside ourselves.
Friday, January 15th – Slow and Simpatico – Moon Void-of-Course. Friday is a slow down type of day, and possibly quite necessary when we take into account all the craziness and crazymaking going on out in the world. The Void-of-Course Aquarius Moon that started early on Thursday continues on through much of this Friday. Later in the day, the Moon exits Aquarius to enter Pisces, but the Pisces Moon makes no connections on this Friday. We live in a fast-paced world, a kaleidoscope of various events that often make little sense, if any. During these tumultuous and disruptive times, it is essential that each of us calls a ‘time out’ in order to prevent getting caught up in the frenzy and avoid getting frantic. As the British government sought to raise the morale of the British public in preparation for World War II by their slogan ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’, it would be wise for us to maintain such a sentiment. Let’s avoid buying into the hype, the narrative, the craziness, until we have good and solid reason to accept, or negate, what is being presented to us as factual. Friday is a day for us to slow things down and seek out those people who are simpatico to our perspective. Now more than ever, it is essential that we stay grounded and maintain a positive attitude or, at least, bemusement at the foibles of humankind.
Saturday, January 16th – Easing the Way – Mars, Uranus, Venus. Saturday continues with the Pisces Moon with the Moon today sextile both Mars and Uranus both in Taurus, and the Moon sextile Venus in Capricorn. This is a day for us to ‘chill out’, replenish our spiritual strength and restore our faith, even if our faith is solely blind faith. Although we are living during highly stressful times with tumultuous and turbulent incidents occurring, we need to take a break from the intensity. Today would be a good day for a spiritual retreat, to get out into nature and see the natural rhythm and unerring pace of life beyond the human realm. The universe works, even when it seems that humankind is trying to muck it up with our dysfunctionalities. Feathering our nest by shopping for accessories or for equipment that can streamline our daily operations is a way by which we can give to ourselves, nurture ourselves. It is important that we try and maintain an upbeat attitude, acknowledge our blessings and maintain a bemused attitude toward the foibles of humankind. As the rather flippant saying suggests: ‘Life’s too mysterious. Don’t take it serious’.
Sunday, January 17th – Keeping it Real – Neptune, Pluto, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course, Jupiter, Uranus. Sunday has the Pisces Moon conjunct Neptune, and the Moon sextile both Pluto and the Sun both in Capricorn. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for three and a half hours as the Moon completes its transit of Pisces without making any further connections to the planets and before the Moon enters Aries early Monday morning. Jupiter squares Uranus. If we took yesterday as a day to step off the track, regain our spiritual strength and restore our physical vitality, we might have a sense that all is right in our personal world despite the continuing craziness in the outside world. One of the things that these lockdowns have allowed for, for some a real challenge and for others a tremendous opportunity, has been less distractions and diversions and instead the ability to reflect, contemplate and find outlets for our own individual creative self-expressions. This Sunday allows us to put into practice our beliefs and our impulse to do what we need to do in regard to self-fulfillment and self-realization. Amidst all the turmoil in the world, there is an awakening and an opportunity for each of us to ascend to a greater awareness and a higher consciousness. This Sunday allows us to put into practice some of our deepest heartfelt wishes and plans for our future. What we have to be wary of, however, is either falling into arrogance and narcissism with a belief that what we want is the way it will be or else descending into a ‘poor me’ victim mode where we wrongly assume that we don’t have the resources to accomplish our greatest desires. Let’s keep in mind that every journey starts with a first step, and the course along our pathway has times of ease of movement, other times when we might hit brambles or get pebbles in our shoes. They call it life and living, and for each of us it can be a grand adventure. This Sunday gives us the impetus to put our spirit into action. We don’t have to take great leaps, for step-by-step could prove far more effective and successful.
