The astrology for this week of June 14th through the 20th of 2021 may have us annoyed and suspicious as we carom from the way things were to ways that are yet indiscernible.
We begin this week with our nemesis for this year – the Saturn in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus – exact. This is the second of three of this particular planetary aspect, the first having been back in February, the third and final on December 24th. We may revisit whatever frustrations we experienced in February, some of which might have been associated with the imposed lockdowns in response to the virus. Let’s keep in mind that this astrological aspect relates to the push – pull between authority regulations and individual freedoms, technological surveillance and innovative operations, traditional financial structures and quantum financial systems, linear sequential reality and asequential reality, among many other frictions occurring as we make a transformational paradigm shift.
It’s not always easy morphing from who and what we were into something and someone of which we are not yet aware. We could call it labor pains or growing pains as we die to the old to be born to the new.
In response to the sense of stress and frustrations we might experience to begin the week, we may distract ourselves with fun summertime activities. We are even likely to embrace the classic Peggy Lee song of Is That All There Is? with its refrain:
‘If that’s all there is my friends, then let’s keep dancing
Let’s break out the booze and have a ball’
No matter our diversions early in the week, we can be back on track mid-week, dealing with our responsibilities, addressing our obligations. We may find streamlined methods to accomplish our tasks, even to the point of embracing the idea of ‘working smarter rather than harder’.
One of the beauties of these times is the technological wizardry that allows us to be more effective with less expenditure of energy. I was recalling the other day how in my lifetime things had progressed in what we now term word processing. In my youth, we had typewriters and we used carbon paper to make a copy of what we were typing. If we made a mistake, it was like the childhood rhyme about Michael Finnegan, we had to begin again. Then came the IBM Selectric which had a correcting ribbon so that one could go back over a mistake, white it out, and correct the error. And finally, the personal computer arrived with word processing programs. And here we are — far more effective, far more productive, and in a much shorter period of time.
As we come to the weekend, our social interactions can ratchet up. Everyone could be chatting up each other. Conversations may be entertaining, and we are willing to put our mundane concerns and family issues on the back burner as we explore new terrain in our discussions. We might be far more interested in the what can be than present responsibilities.
We end the weekend with Father’s Day on Sunday and at the close of Sunday we enter Summer with the Summer Solstice as the Sun exits Gemini to enter Cancer.
Monday, June 14th – Déjà vu, All Over Again – Lunar T-Square, Uranus, Saturn. Monday begins the week with the Leo Moon triggering a Fixed Sign T-Square as the Moon opposes Saturn, and the Moon squares Uranus. The second of this year’s three planetary aspects that can prove to be our nemesis with the tug-of-war between where we have been and where we are going is engaged with Saturn square Uranus. We may start the week gung-ho intending to put our individual mark on our activities and looking for outlets for our creative expressions. Much of our forward movement could be blocked by outstanding matters needing to be addressed and / or unexpected situations upsetting our plans. We might feel like the lyrics to the early ‘70’s classic Stealers Wheel song Stuck in the Middle with You:
‘Clowns to the left of me
Jokers to the right’
The first Saturn Uranus square occurred on February 17th, and a curious parallel to today’s square and February’s square is the fact that both occurred when Mercury was retrograde and going through an Air Sign, Mercury retrograde in Aquarius in February, Mercury retrograde in Gemini today. With astrology and life itself dealing with the Law of Three, sometimes referred to as a holy trinity, we often go through a situation, then go back over that particular situation to review and rework, and then resolve and finalize the third time over. Back in February, many people were dealing with power outages due to a winter storm, there were disruptions in vaccine distributions and increasing concerns over the effects of virtual schooling on students. Although we might feel betwixt and between, and sometimes wondering between what, this is a day to tamp down the brakes, review and reconsider what we are doing and where we intend to go. If some of us are traveling, our travel plans may need altering. This is a day for us not to get overly frustrated by delays or by incidents we could not anticipate. Let’s maintain bemusement at the antics in the world, the foibles of humankind, and our own individual quirkiness.
Tuesday, June 15th – Inputs and Suggestions – Mercury, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. Tuesday has the Leo Moon sextile both Mercury and the Sun both in Gemini. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for nine and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Leo and before the Moon enters Virgo late on this Tuesday. We might be full of ideas and thoughts as to what we want to do. We may be in a highly expansive mood with a sense that nothing can stand in our way. Conversations and discussions could be lively, uplifting, all with a belief that everything is possible. While we are likely to be in the planning stages, it would be wise to keep in mind that we are under the influence of last week’s New Moon when the Sun Moon conjunction was also conjunct the Mercury retrograde and square to Neptune. Fantasies are liable to be illusions and delusions. Maintaining some semblance of healthy skepticism and keeping our feet on the ground would help us avoid flying off into involvements that seem wondrous opportunities at first only to realize later that they are ill-conceived and leading us down a garden path. Let’s consider a wide range of prospects today, feel the scintillating excitement of new directions, but avoid implementing our intentions until we have used due diligence and taken into account the specifics of the means to accomplish our plans. This is a good day for us to draw upon the suggestions and input of other people who would provide an honest and objective perspective to our ideas. We can have a good time today, if we don’t overly commit ourselves or wholly engage long-term activities.
Wednesday, June 16th – Reining In – Jupiter, Uranus. Wednesday has the Virgo Moon opposed Jupiter to begin the day, and the Moon trine Uranus to end the day. Drawing upon our optimism and a dash of invincibility from yesterday, we could start this Wednesday with an intended schedule of too much. We might want to get a lot done, and we may feel as if we can do it all, but it would be wise for us to plan out our day and prioritize our activities. Just by Sign itself, the Moon’s transit of Virgo triggers both a Mutable Sign T-Square and an Earth Element Grand Trine. With the Moon going through Virgo today and tomorrow, both of these energy configurations are in play with tomorrow being even more ratcheted up than today. If we would draw upon our foresight to begin today, we could devise a best practices approach to accomplish a lot, perhaps not everything we might want to do but a great deal more than if we go off helter-skelter assuming that everything will fall neatly into place without our proper planning. Attention to details will build a strong foundation for our successful achievements. Both Wednesday and Thursday call for us to attend to the specifics and the particulars even though there could be some fascinating distractions that try to pull us away. Let’s keep in mind that during this paradigm shift, things can change suddenly and dramatically. We may go down one trajectory only to find that our true course of actions diverts from our original intention. Remember, these times call for us to be flexible and adaptable.
Thursday, June 17th – Caroming – Venus, Pluto, Lunar T-Square Mercury, Neptune, Sun. Thursday continues with the influence of yesterday but ever more ratcheted up today. The Virgo Moon today sextiles Venus in Cancer and the Moon trines Pluto in Capricorn, completing the Earth Grand Trine that began with yesterday’s Moon trine Uranus in Taurus. The Moon also triggers a Mutable Sign T-Square with the Moon opposed Neptune and the Moon square both the Sun and Mercury both in Gemini. This day can have us caroming from one thing to another with our involvements triggered more by bright, sparkly things and interesting diversions rather than what we need to accomplish. We could be all over the place today with a liability of exhausting ourselves in the process and the possibility of not getting everything done that we had intended. This is a day for us to slow things down, not get caught up in the frenzy of these times and utilize the sanctuary of our home to regroup and recharge. Even if we spend the day spinning out of control, late in the day we can focus on the truly meaningful and determine a more productive approach to our activities. The keys to Wednesday and especially Thursday are preparation, focus, and braking actions. Although the energy may seem hectic, even frantic, we could be proactive, determine the ways of our involvements, and not get caught up in the intensity of these days.
Friday, June 18th – Re-creations – Mars. The Moon moves into Libra on this Friday and sextiles Mars. This is a day when we might choose a ‘time out’ in order to spend quality time with a special someone. While we could have been in overdrive the past two days, hopefully we accomplished a lot despite the pitfalls of senseless distractions and needless diversions. Whether we were productive and effective or just racing around, this Friday offers us the opportunity to enjoy ourselves. We might choose a leisurely lunch with someone, decide to take in an art gallery or a shopping spree, play a game of tennis or golf, or just kick back and hang out. This Friday seems like a ME day, a day when we do what we want. We might prefer to do our own thing in the company of someone else. The collaborative is more likely than the contentious. We’re not looking for arguments, disputes or to one-up someone. We prefer the company of someone with whom we have a good time. Yes, this is a day for good times with a good friend.
Saturday, June 19th – Clear Thinking – Lunar Grand Trine, Saturn, Mercury, Venus. Saturday has the Libra Moon triggering an Air Grand Trine as the Moon trines Saturn in Aquarius, and the Moon trines Mercury in Gemini. The Moon squares Venus. If we used yesterday to recharge our batteries and decompressed from some of the running around on Wednesday and especially Thursday, then this Saturday can be a highly pleasant day, a time to get together with good friends and engage conversations that are lively and inspiring and good fun. We are likely to be clear thinking today, a tall order when we consider that last week’s New Moon put us under a two-week spell of liable miscommunications, misinterpretations and misunderstandings. We do have Mercury retrograde, which was exaggerated by the Neptune square at the time of last week’s New Moon signature. Saturday is a good day to contemplate our future projects, and projects best initiated after Mercury turns direct and as we gain greater fire in our belly as the personal planets enter Leo to join Mars over the next two months. This Saturday is a day to step off the track of our mundane affairs and give thought to the wide realm of our possibilities. Late in the day, we might be entertaining friends and family in the sanctuary of our home.
Sunday, June 20th – Here Comes Summer – Pluto, Sun, Jupiter, Mars, Jupiter retrograde, Summer Solstice, Sun Cancer. Sunday is an action-packed day. The Libra Moon squares Pluto, and the Moon trines the Sun just as the Moon is about to exit Libra to enter Scorpio and the Sun is about to exit Gemini to enter Cancer. The Scorpio Moon today trines Jupiter, and the Moon squares Mars. Jupiter turns retrograde, and the Sun exits Gemini to end the spring season. With the Summer Solstice late tonight, the Sun enters Cancer [11:32 PM EDT] to begin the summer season. Today is Father’s Day, and we may feel the responsibility and obligation to pay homage to our dad. Although there are times when parent child relationships are fraught with tensions and discord, by honoring our father and our ancestors we respect where we have come from that has made us who we are today. We can feel more integrated today, our masculine – feminine characteristics more in balance. The advent of the summer season could have us wanting to get on with our summertime activities, making plans for our get-aways and what recreational activities we wish to pursue. The movement of the Sun into Cancer and the Moon into Scorpio triggers a Water Grand Trine by Sign completed by Jupiter and Neptune both in Pisces. Our sensitivity may be turned up, our compassion expressed, and our desire to embrace family, extended family, and perhaps even the family of humankind.
