The astrology for this week of July 14th through the 20th of 2025 suggests we tie up loose ends before we enter Mercury retrograde on Friday for its three-week cycle when Murphy’s Law of ‘whatever can go wrong could go wrong’ is in effect.
We begin this week with great intentions, but we all know where that might lead us. We might have a schedule and plans in mind, but demands placed on us could have us veering off track. We do need to be wary that we don’t put too much on our plate at the start of this week. Things are far easier to achieve in concept than in practical implementation. Consequently, we could feel ourselves revving the engine but stuck in neutral.
It would be wise for us to use the beginning of this week to attend to outstanding issues, matters around our home and any significant past incidents needing to be resolved. The three-week Mercury retrograde is looming with its inception early on Friday morning.
Mid-week could have us getting a second wind, willing to do things differently, streamline our operations, and open to innovative methods. We can have a thrust of energy dampened by someone’s needs or concerns or by delays with us having put too much on our plate.
The key event of this week is Mercury turning retrograde on Friday for its three-week cycle backing through Leo until turning direct on the 11th of August. All three Fire Sign transiting planets — Mercury, Saturn, and Neptune — are now retrograde. We may be in the heat of the summer, but much of the fire in our belly is diminished. We might feel as if the wind has been knocked out of our sails and that we’re lolling about in stagnant waters with little thrust to move forward. Fortunately, these patterns are occurring during the summer when our tendency is to chill out, take time for ourselves, vacation, relax and recreate.
We may have great plans for summer adventures, but if our schedule allows, our grand adventures might be better engaged after Mercury turns direct on the 11th of August.
The early part of the weekend might be a time to get our house in order, whether literally or figuratively. The end of the weekend can have us out and about, conversing with any number of people, and doing things spontaneously with a desire for investigation, exploration, and grand adventures.
Monday, July 14th – Too Much, Too Far – Jupiter, Lunar T-Square, Venus. Monday begins this week with Moon continuing its transit of Pisces with the Pisces Moon trine Jupiter in the morning and the Moon square Venus in the afternoon. The Moon square Venus triggers a Mutable Sign T-Square with the Moon opposed Mars early Tuesday morning. The two ‘good guys’ of the planetary realm, Venus and Jupiter, are engaged today. We might start the day with confidence and optimism, but with a liability of over exuberance. We need to avoid excess or assuming that we can do more or go further than humanly possible. If we operate on blind faith today, we could wind up tying ourselves up in knots from which it would be hard to disentangle. This is a day when moderation is called for, but likely unheeded. We may begin the day with a thrust of energy and possibly overdrive, only to leave us exhausted by the end of the day when responsibilities and someone’s issues are needing to be addressed. This Monday cautions us to heed the lyrics of the classic Simon and Garfunkel song The 59th Street Bridge Song: “Slow down, you move too fast. You got to make the morning last.”
Tuesday, July 15th – Getting Back to Center – Lunar T-Square, Mars, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. Tuesday has the Moon finishing its transit of Pisces with the Pisces Moon completing the Mutable Sign T-Square that began yesterday when the Moon squared Venus and with the Moon opposed Mars early this Tuesday. The Moon trines the Sun before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for almost eleven and a half hours as the Moon concludes its transit of Pisces without making any further connections to the planets and before the Moon enters Aries at the start of Wednesday. While Monday and Tuesday do not have the greatest amount of energy for us to move mountains, even if we believe that we can, these two days suggest we put various matters in order prior to the impending three-week Mercury retrograde that begins on Friday. Pisces is the last Sign of the Zodiac, and so we are ending one monthly Moon cycle prior to the beginning of a new monthly Moon cycle tomorrow when the Moon enters Aries. This Tuesday suggests we resolve significant situations with a recognition that some of our efforts yesterday and even today may have been rushed through with us glossing over specific details or leaving out essential factors. Let’s take our time in going over things we wish to be resolved before the weekend and correct any missteps we might have taken. Monday and Tuesday are not the most exciting days but can be highly productive days if we take our time, concentrate on what we need to accomplish, and take things step-by-step.
Wednesday, July 16th – Fast Track – Uranus, Saturn, Neptune, Pluto, Jupiter. The Moon enters Aries early on Wednesday and begins a new monthly cycle through the Zodiac. The Aries Moon today sextiles Uranus in Gemini, the Moon conjuncts both Saturn and Neptune, the Moon sextiles Pluto in Aquarius, and the Moon squares Jupiter. The three transcendental planets of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are engaged. If we would be open to unexpected developments, surprising innovations with a willingness to get out of our own way and heed the signals along the way, then this day can be a fast-paced, highly active day, when we could get a lot done. What we achieve might not be what we planned for, but rather unanticipated opportunities to fast forward our advances. This is a day for us to keep our antennae up. We can draw upon our expertise based upon experience, but it’s essential that we not be encumbered or limited by our past. Although we might question our readiness or our capability to engage the new and the different, every journey begins with a first step. Let’s be courageous, adventurous and be the spiritual warrior / warrioress as we venture into new and unknown territories. The Force is with you.
Thursday, July 17th – Before the Fall – Venus, Mercury, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. Thursday continues with the Aries Moon with the Moon today sextile Venus, the Moon trine Mercury and the Moon square the Sun. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for seven and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Aries and before the Moon enters Taurus Friday morning. This is the day before Mercury turns retrograde. Just before and just after Mercury turns direction, things can get squirrely and so it could be on this Thursday. This is an ideal day for conversations and communications. People are likely feeling upbeat, interested in what is going with other people, but also considering getaway plans. No parade rainers for us today! We may want to put forward our best impression, appear confident and trustworthy, and willing to listen to other people’s situations, even their problems. It looks as if narcissism has gone, at least for the time being, with everyone operating at their best and without stepping on toes. While a glorious day can be had, the evening could get a little dicey. The rain might come out with the Debbie Downers and Eeyores shedding their tears and letting loose with torrents of emotional issues. Let’s enjoy the day but not get immersed in anyone’s problems.
Friday, July 18th – Cut and Run Cautiously – Pluto, Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, Mercury retrograde. Friday has the Moon moving into Taurus where today the Taurus Moon squares Pluto in the morning, and the Moon sextiles Jupiter in the evening. Mercury sextiles Venus after Mercury turned retrograde [12:45 AM EDT]. If we got entrapped by someone last evening who is a bit of a downer, we might use the morning hours of this Friday to disengage. Some of our plans may seem to go awry. Perhaps we don’t have the resources, full information, or the capabilities to pull off our greatest endeavors. Why go there when any momentary despondency might be more the effects of our environment, recent experiences, or the flatulence of society itself? Give it time, for the evening hours can give us a second wind as we relish the comforts of home and family and might appreciate the blessings we have. While discussions may be enlivening during the morning hours, we do need to watch for people grandstanding and showboating. Some people are often ‘all hat and no cattle’, and it would be wise that we always check the source and then check their agenda. Mercury turns retrograde for its three-week cycle back through Leo. All three of the Fire transiting planets are now retrograde with our own fire diminished and our fatigue liable to be increased. And with Mercury retrograde, Murphy’s Law is in effect where ‘whatever can go wrong could go wrong.’ Until at least the 11th of August when Mercury turns direct, it would be suggested that we postpone important decisions and significant actions. Things can be squirrely today, and this could be a day for us to cut and run from imposing situations, but instead enjoy the company of the good people in our life and doing so cautiously. Time to be careful out there, a suggestion for now and forever.
Saturday, July 19th – Engage Brain Before Brawn – Mercury, Mars. Saturday begins with the Taurus Moon square Mercury. The Moon then trines Mars. It’s summertime and we might prefer good times whether with good friends or solo. A dampener to fun events can be things that need to be taken care of. Details and specifics may require attention, forcing us to put on hold any plans we had to enjoy ourselves. Instead of grousing about the deadening effects of responsibilities and obligations, let’s focus on what needs to get done and just do it. First work, then play. Today could be a highly productive day when we might attend to any number of mundane matters, the minutiae of our lives. Work today, play tomorrow. If we are focused on what needs to get done, it would be wise to strategize our actions rather than racing headlong into a whole list of what we wish to accomplish. Proper planning sharpens time management and can have us working at our optimum. Once engaged today, we could virtually move mountains. We do need to keep in mind that Mercury has just turned retrograde, the shift in energy demanding that we be aware and mindful in our thoughts and actions.
Sunday, July 20th – Drawing on a Blank Slate – Sun, Moon Void-of-Course, Uranus, Saturn, Neptune, Pluto. Sunday begins with the Taurus Moon sextile the Sun. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for three and a half hours during the overnight with the Taurus Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Taurus and before the Moon moves into Gemini where today the Gemini Moon conjuncts Uranus, the Moon sextiles both Saturn and Neptune both in Aries, and the Moon trines Pluto. All three transcendental planets of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are engaged. This Sunday could be the best day of this week, in spite of the fact that we’re dealing with Mercury retrograde. If we aren’t heavily committed for this day, then it would be suggested that we use it like a blank canvas upon which we can draw and participate in whatever catches our fancy. It would be wise for us to be open to what the universe might present us, for some surprising developments could be exciting and thrilling adventures. This Sunday is a day to expect the unexpected and take advantage of whatever opportunities present themselves. There’s no need for us to stay long at any one thing but rather to engage a smorgasbord of various activities, different involvements. There may be a spring in our step, a feeling of youthful enthusiasm no matter our age, and a readiness to embrace the beauties and bounties of living. This Sunday, as the Italians might say, is one of abbondanza in its many forms.
