January 6th – 12th, 2025

The astrology for this week of January 6th through the 12th of 2025 can let some of the air out of our tires as we lose the Fire Element and settle into the new year.

The week begins with us perhaps feeling a little dazed, wanting to take a step back into our personal sanctuary, and wondering what to make of the conditions and circumstance in which we find ourselves.

Confusion may be rampant with us questioning whether we have the resources to successfully take a great step forward into new endeavors.  Our confidence and optimism could be shaken.  The buzz of new year possibilities might seem diminished as we wonder whether we are stuck back in ‘same old, same old’.

While we may lose some of our assertiveness this week, we can get more serious and more strategic in determining our right moves.  Patience is called for and elicited as much of our impetuousness is lost to a more sober, realistic approach.

The latter part of the week provides the energy to get our house in order with a determination to be more effective with less expenditure of energy.  Once we decide upon the template on which we shall move forward, we could throw wide open the realm of possibilities with the weekend having us here, there, and everywhere in search of good times with good friends.

We close out the week on the weekend with us savoring the comforts of home as we concentrate on our personal sanctuary and the nurture of our private space.

Monday, January 6th – Backing Up – Jupiter, Sun, Mercury, Neptune, Mars Cancer.   Monday begins this week with the Moon in Aries and the Aries Moon today sextile Jupiter and the Moon square the Sun.  Mercury squares Neptune, and Mars retrogrades back into Cancer [5:44 AM EST], a Sign of Fall for Mars.  We might start the day with vim and vigor only to find ourselves running around in circles, expending a great deal of energy, and wearing ourselves out.  It would be wise for us to apply brakes to our boundless energy, energy that may have us running more on adrenaline than persistent, assertive energy.  With Mars backing out of Leo and retrograding back into Cancer, we lose some of our Fire, losing it all on Wednesday when Mercury exits the Mutable Fire Sign of Sagittarius.  We could feel less proactive and more reactive to situations and circumstance.  It would be wise for us to modulate our commitments today with the recognition that this week finds our energies diminished and calling for us to work smarter rather than harder.  Let’s take everything today with a grain of salt.  No accepting things at face value but rather vetting, evaluating and reevaluating as we proceed.  If we cast our fate to the winds and just move ahead impulsively, we could find ourselves hitting the wall towards the end of the day.  This is a day for us to slow down and not move too fast and avoid major commitments or significant decisions.

Tuesday, January 7th – On the Wrong Track – Mercury, Mars, Moon Void-of-Course, Pluto.  Tuesday has the Moon finishing its transit of Aries with the Aries Moon trine Mercury and the Moon square Mars.  The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for an hour with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Aries and before the Moon enters Taurus where today the Taurus Moon squares Pluto.  Just like yesterday, we could start this day with a thrust of energy and a heap of optimism.  Maybe it’s the influence of a new year with the assumption that everything is bright and sparkly and new.  The shine comes off this day as we encounter impediments to our intentions later in the day. Our insistence might become more muted, but even though we may be more patient, we could find ourselves banging up against obstacles and delays in moving forward with our endeavors.  Even though Mars has retrograded back into Cancer, we are still dealing with the Mars Pluto opposition and consequently can experience people acting out, anger levels off-the-charts, and bizarre behavior from narcissistic antics.  If we start the day with great enthusiasm but little planning, we could find ourselves on the wrong track, wasting our energies, and expending our resources with little to show for it other than hitting the wall late in the day.

Wednesday, January 8th – Keeping it Real – Venus, Saturn, Mercury Capricorn.  Wednesday has the Taurus Moon sextile both Venus and Saturn both in Pisces.  Mercury exits Sagittarius to enter Capricorn [5:30 AM EST].  Our optimism over the past two days could have led us down the garden path into a series of brambles.  I always suggest that the universe taps us on the shoulder, and if we don’t get what the universe is trying to tell us, the universe taps a little harder.  If we still don’t get what the universe is telling us, then we can suffer one of those lateral lobotomies, or whacks to the side of the head.  Eventually, we wake up and get what the universe is trying to make us aware of.   After Monday and Tuesday when early each day offered bright promise and tremendous confidence only for us to stumble and fall as the days unfolded, perhaps we are a little more astute and patient as we begin this Wednesday.  This is a day for us to draw upon our intuitive sense and our critical analysis to figure out what we want to do and how to do it expeditiously.   With Mercury exiting Sagittarius, Mercury comes out of a Sign of its Detriment where our thinking tends to be so broad that our thinking becomes diffuse, scattered, and a jumble of ideas.  With Mercury entering Capricorn, our thought processes tend to be more practical and our thoughts more serious.  With Mercury exiting Sagittarius, we lose any of the Fire Element until early February when Venus enters Aries.  We might have less gumption, less of a proactive stance, but we can also gain a greater willingness to heed the changing currents and work with the energies rather than trying to force our will on conditions.

Thursday, January 9th – Pendulum Swings – Sun, Uranus, Neptune, Mars, Moon Void-of-Course, Pluto.  Thursday continues with the Taurus Moon with the Moon trine the Sun, the Moon conjunct Uranus, the Moon sextile Neptune in Pisces, and the Moon sextile Mars in Cancer.  The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over two hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Taurus and before the Moon enters Gemini where late in the day the Gemini Moon trines Pluto.  The three transcendental planets of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are engaged with harmonious aspects from the Moon to the ongoing Mars Pluto opposition.  Monday and Tuesday of this week may seem to have been somewhat convoluted with swings between elations and disappointments.  Yesterday allowed us a more sober and practical approach to our life’s matters, and this Thursday might provide a sense of greased wheels if we don’t try to blithely steer our course without considering the signals along the way.  With the transcendental planets engaged, things can occur in unexpected ways with positive outcomes.  With us being asked to juggle ever more and with an acceleration in the rhythm and pace of our lives, we need to be mindful and aware of signs as to ‘right’ action and appropriate behavior.  Everything can fall neatly into place on this Thursday, a day when we could accomplish a lot if we are willing to ‘go with the flow’ and not try to dictate our course of action.  Time management skills and the ability to shift and change as conditions warrant, may have us operating at our optimum.  Yes, these volatile times create pendulum swings between highly effective times and discordant, convoluted times.  This Thursday has us on the highly effective swing.

Friday, January 10th – Taking for Granted – Venus, Jupiter, Saturn.  Friday has the Moon in Gemini with the Moon creating a sandwich-type energy day with the Moon square both Venus and Saturn both in Pisces, Venus early in the morning, Saturn late in the day.  In between the two, the Gemini Moon conjuncts Jupiter.  The Jupiter Saturn square is engaged.  With the two ‘good guys’ of the planetary realm, Venus and Jupiter, engaged, we could easily assume that everything is going our way.  Life seems to be wonderful when we are oblivious to reality, a disposition we might engage during much of this day.  Unfortunately, hard cold reality may set in late in the day.  If we have evening plans, let’s lower our expectations.  After spending much of our day in la-la land, we can have significant conjectures as to how our evening plans are likely to unfold.  And therein could be a problem.  With the Jupiter Saturn square engaged today, the likelihood of expansion and a ‘feel good’ attitude early in the day might devolve into a contractive, restrictive feeling late in the day.  Excess followed by diminishment is liable to occur on this Friday.  We should take nothing for granted on this Friday and recognize that during these volatile times we are being asked to modulate the extremes to a narrower range to prevent ourselves from major whipsaws and swings.  Let’s enjoy ourselves on this Friday but maintain balance and an understanding of the accordion-type energies of expansion – contraction that we are likely to experience.

Saturday, January 11th – Possibilities – Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course.  Saturday continues with the Gemini Moon but with the Moon making no connections to the planets today until late in the day when the Gemini Moon squares Neptune.  The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost four and a half hours with the Moon making no further contact to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Gemini and before the Moon enters Cancer at the end of this Saturday.  This Saturday is a day for us to be spontaneous, to do whatever catches our fancy.  Although impulsiveness can sometimes lead us down the garden path into briars and brambles, today is a day for us to draw on a blank slate and consider a wide range of possibilities.  Too often we feel hampered by our routine, our responsibilities, and our daily tasks.  This Saturday might normally have us doing errands, but for this Saturday I suggest we allow ourselves to be child-like and enjoy the wonder and excitement of all things possible.  The evening, like last evening, may be a bit of a disappointment, so far better for us to enjoy the day and perhaps call it an early night.  If we do have evening plans, we need to avoid indulgences that could be a form of letting off steam.

Sunday, January 12th – Comforts of Home – Mercury, Venus, Mars, Neptune.  Sunday has the Cancer Moon opposed Mercury early in the day, and the Moon trine Venus later in the day.  Mars trines Neptune.  If we had put everything on hold and just enjoyed ourselves yesterday, we could awaken on this Sunday feeling that we need to play catch-up with the various errands, responsibilities and home projects that we have on our ‘to do’ list.  We can be highly energized today, so it would be wise for us to have an intended course of action regarding the projects that we wish to attend to. We can be highly expeditious and accomplished on this Sunday.  If we do not have obligations hanging over us, this day could be well spent getting down by the water and participating in recreational activities.  This is a day not to waste but to channel our energies so that we feel we have achieved something by the end of the day.  While Friday and Saturday evenings might have been a letdown, this late Sunday is a great time to spend with a good friend and enjoy their company.  We can appreciate the comforts of home and family today without feeling overwhelmed by the maintenance costs involved.
