December 23rd – 29th, 2024

The astrology for this week of December 23rd through the 29th of 2024, the last full week of this year, has various swings of energies and intensities as we celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah.

The major energy configurations of Jupiter square Saturn and Mars opposed Pluto are engaged and can make for a topsy-turvy week demanding skill in effectively walking on eggshells.

The week begins benignly enough, but that’s often a problem with expectations.  We have intentions to do the right thing, enjoy ourselves during this holiday week, and put aside any personality differences.  As the saying goes: “the road to hell is paved with good intentions.”

If we are trying to get to grandmother’s house or any person’s house this week, we need to have contingency plans in mind.  The start and stop of movement may be challenging whether traffic, weather, or other issues prohibit smooth sailing.

Christmas Day itself on Wednesday needs everyone to be on their best behavior.  Sundown Wednesday is also the start of Hanukkah.  People tend to get together with family, relatives, and friends in celebration of the holidays. Caveat feriatum celebrantis!

Issues long percolating below the surface may have some people seething with the liability of someone popping off with biting comments or backhanded compliments.

Life itself often seems like navigating a balance beam, and this week of holiday get-togethers might necessitate our being adept at eggshell walking.

The latter part of the week could have some swings in our moods and feelings with some people likely to go from the extreme of irrational exuberance to the other extreme of utter despair.  Once again, reining in our moods and emotions and getting a grip on our attitudes and behavior are called for.

Delays, frustrations, and unexpected developments might end the week with us pulling up the covers over our head.

This is a week for us to be careful out there and seek solace in whatever gives us comfort and sustenance.

Monday, December 23rd – Nothing Could be Finer – Mercury, Jupiter.  Monday begins this week with the Moon in Libra and with the Libra Moon sextile Mercury in the morning and the Moon trine Jupiter in the evening.  If we are considering traveling for the holidays this week, this Monday is the best day to do so.  Everything seems to run smoothly today, whereas travels on the other days of this week could prove vexing, even necessitating contingency plans.  We’re feeling good today, happy about what’s going on, and looking forward to our festive celebrations.  We might assume that such good feelings will continue through Christmas Day and hopefully after.  Nice concept but might not prove to be the reality.  Let’s enjoy this Monday.  Time spent with our special friend[s] can be a highly pleasant time.  We may believe that nothing could be finer than the incidents and events we experience today.  Today is Festivus, an alternative holiday that decries the commercialism of the Christmas season, allows for an airing of grievances, and provides “a Festivus for the rest of us.”

Tuesday, December 24th – Snap Back – Venus, Moon Void-of-Course, Jupiter, Saturn.  Tuesday begins pleasantly enough.  We awaken to the Libra Moon trine Venus.  The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for twenty-one hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Libra and before the Moon enters Scorpio early on Wednesday.   Hopefully, we have done all our running around with our shopping complete and our holiday preparations finalized, so that we can sit back and enjoy the holidays and watch bemusedly as the last-minute shoppers and harried travelers scurry about.  Jupiter squares Saturn.   Peoples’ nerves may be shot with some things happening easily, other things being convoluted.  With us in the midst of the holidays, we can see how people react to stress.  Some people will be controlling, wanting everything done in accord with their dictates.  Other people may be compliant, willing minions to deal with various matters as they are instructed.  And still others might just step away from the hustle and bustle and wait on the sidelines for the festivities to begin.  This Tuesday is Christmas Eve, a time when traditionally the rush is over, and a greater stillness fills the air.  This Christmas Eve not so much, not with Jupiter square Saturn intensifying the tenor of this day.  Let’s slow things down, accept what we have done, and appreciate the perfection of imperfection.

Wednesday, December 25th – Blue Xmas, Miles Davis – Lunar T-Square, Pluto, Mars, Sun.  Wednesday has the Moon moving into Scorpio and triggering the Mars Pluto opposition by the Moon triggering a Fixed Sign T-Square in the morning hours with the Scorpio Moon square Pluto in Aquarius and the Moon square Mars in Leo.  With Scorpio ruled by Pluto and traditionally ruled by Mars, and both Mars and Pluto engaged in a power struggle, the intensity of this day cannot be discounted.  Fortunately, the Moon then sextiles the Sun.  This is Christmas Day, traditionally a day of joy, happiness, fun family gatherings, and a feast of good foods.  Traditionally, but today’s Christmas might be more reminiscent of the Miles Davis version of Blue Xmas.  Things can be especially intense.  Not only can there be bickering over preparing the festive meal and presentation.  Issues can arise if conversations veer into prohibited topics such as politics, Trump, illegal aliens, even favored football teams.  Everyone needs to take the intensity down a notch or two or more to keep the gatherings pleasant rather than an anticipated celebration turning into a vortex of hostilities.  After liable morning explosions or implosions, things can take a more sober and serious tone.  Let’s not poke the bear today, since the bear may be hungry, angry, and willing take our head off.  Merry ? Christmas.

Thursday, December 26th – Pick up the Pieces – Saturn, Mercury, Jupiter.  Thursday continues with the Scorpio Moon with the Moon today trine Saturn.  Mercury opposes Jupiter.  After what could have been a rather stressful Christmas Day, if we made it through yesterday without much breakage, this Thursday allows us to pick up the pieces and straighten things out.  This is a good day for us to get things in order.  Discussions can make us aware of options we had not been privy to and of possibilities we might want to pursue.  We may feel that all things are possible, our belief encouraged by someone who suggests we spread our wings and explore the far reaches of the world.  We do have to avoid overconfidence or blind optimism, since today has Jupiter triggered but tomorrow has Saturn engaged.  By taking a wide view of our prospects and without dismissing anything out of hand, any excess or irrationality can be whittled down tomorrow.  We just need to avoid irrational exuberance today turning into utter despair tomorrow.  The metronome swings, but eventually finds its equilibrium, our point of balance.

Friday, December 27th – Shake it Off – Lunar T-Square, Venus, Uranus, Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course, Pluto, Mars, Mercury, Saturn.  Friday begins with the Moon finishing its transit of Scorpio with the Scorpio Moon triggering another Fixed Sign T-Square with the Scorpio Moon square Venus in Aquarius and the Moon opposed Uranus in Taurus.  The Moon then trines Neptune before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for almost five and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Scorpio and before the Moon enters Sagittarius where the Sagittarius Moon sextiles Pluto and the Moon trines Mars.  Mercury squares Saturn.  Wednesday had a Scorpio Moon T-Square with Mars and Pluto involved, and today we have another Fixed Sign T-Square but with different planets engaged. We also have the Moon making harmonious connection to both Mars and Pluto as opposed to their involvement in the T-Square on Wednesday.  Similar to days in recent months, the three transcendental planets of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are engaged.  The call is for us to rise above our egocentric personalities and embrace the wonder of the universe working. Yesterday might have had us in a ‘feel good’ mood, assuming that all was right in our world or would soon be.  Friday our mood may shift with a heaviness as we realize all that we need to complete before year’s end.  Responsibilities can pull at us with the need to deal with home and family matters.  Relationships today and tomorrow could prove dicey.  Someone might do something or say something that puts a bad spin on their character or our character.  Unexpected encounters can seem serendipitous but only prove to be a pain.  This is a day for us to express compassion without getting entwined in other peoples’ problems.

Saturday, December 28th – Too Much Too Soon – Lunar T-Square, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, Venus, Uranus.  Saturday has the Sagittarius Moon triggering a Mutable Sign T-Square with the Jupiter Saturn square.  The Moon opposes Jupiter and the Moon squares Saturn.  Late in the day, the Moon conjuncts Mercury.  Venus squares Uranus.  Saturday is one of those days when there can be a crescendo of whatever has gone on over the past two days.  We may feel that we are still on a wild swing as we whipsaw between elation and depression.  A sense of expansion followed by contraction can leave us dazed as we experience moments of free expression followed by the restriction of responsibility.  Add to this crazy-making back and forth issues in our relationships, and much of this day can seem to have us in a Fun House, which may prove exhausting and not too much fun.  Although this after Christmas carousel could seem daunting, it would be wise for us to use this time to focus on tie-ups of matters we wish to conclude before the new year and consider our resources available for our projects in 2025.  This day continues the dizzying energies of this week, and even a sense of battering that could leave us numb and exhausted.

Sunday, December 29th – Time Out – Venus, Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course.  Sunday continues with the Sagittarius Moon with the Moon today sextile Venus and the Moon square Neptune.  The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for five hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Sagittarius and before the Moon enters Capricorn at the end of the day.  Any kerfuffle experienced in our relationships over the past two days could be smoothed over on this Sunday.  We are looking at lessening the drama in our life, resolving issues, and clearing the way for a more peaceful, less anxious year ahead [nice concept, but we’ll have to see how it plays out under transformative energies].  As opposed to most of the days during this week, there is not a great deal of energy today and that might be fortuitous.  The idea of taking a ‘time out’, whether hanging out in our home and relaxing, or going out and about and enjoying re-creational activities, we may want to put a lot of the past few days behind us.  With New Year’s events fast approaching, this Sunday is a good day for us to recoup our energies and find activities that would put a smile on our face.  This week could have seemed one intense period, but next week lessens the intensity, so today would be a day for us to catch our breath, reinvigorate ourselves and just relax.
