The astrology for this week of August 7th through the 13th of 2023 can have us feeling reined in by our practical realities until a free-for-all later in the week followed by a family-oriented weekend balancing social engagements with impending obligations.
The week begins with us in something of a plodding manner of behavior. Not that the winds of summer have been knocked out of our sails. We just might be more attentive to what is ahead of us with our awareness of returning to our regular routine.
The early part of the week could have us shopping for back-to-school items, our autumn wardrobe, and other necessities for getting back on track. If we are comparison shopping between now and a year ago or between now and even a few months ago, we might be staggered by sticker shock. The powers-that-be might assert that inflation is being tamed, but we are unlikely to see it in the store aisles, no matter the retail sales days or tax holidays. Things are costing more now than they have in the recent past with few signs of price increases slowing or stopping. Although it might seem incidental, even weekly changes in prices can show a ten cent increase or a fifty cent increase, not to mention the shrinkflation where the packaging is smaller than before even if the price remains the same.
This week may be a week of surprising developments, some good, some bad, some inconsequential. The more we can be astute as to what is really going on, the better we are able to navigate the swirling currents and determine right action. We need to draw upon our reasoning mind and critical analysis to determine the best way forward.
After the latter part of the week that would seem frantic and frenzied as if being caught in a Mad Hatter syndrome, we may choose a weekend when we take things down a notch or two and enjoy the comforts of home and family, put our feet up and just chill.
Monday, August 7th – Begrudging or Not – Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Saturn. Monday begins this week with the Aries Moon square Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for two hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before the Moon enters Taurus where today the Taurus Moon sextiles Saturn. Why is it that Mondays, whether we are on vacation or not, seem to bring up the anxieties of responsibilities and obligations? Perhaps it’s been conditioned into our psyche that Mondays are the start of the week and a time when we need to get serious in going about our business. Certainly, we might start this Monday that way, questioning what we need to accomplish or what we need to prepare for. As the day proceeds, we could determine that our obligations do not have to be onerous or odious. By focusing on a step-by-step process, we can deal with our responsibilities effectively and instinctively. We may know exactly how to get things done, and we are able to do so without grunting and groaning or whining and moaning. This is a day to engage the attitude of Nike’s slogan: ‘just do it’.
Tuesday, August 8th – Noah’s Arc – Jupiter, Uranus, Mercury, Mars, Sun, Venus. Tuesday is an interesting day of twosomes. The Taurus Moon today conjuncts both Jupiter and Uranus both in Taurus, the Moon trines both Mercury and Mars both in Virgo, and the Taurus Moon squares both the Sun and Venus both in Leo. There are some powerful energy configurations today, all suggesting that we put our summer recreational plans on the back burner to attend to our numerous mundane matters with their specifics and details. If we choose to focus on what we need to get done, not only can we be highly productive and expeditious, but we could also find some interesting bargains for any important items we need for our return to our routine. Sales days and tax holidays may be ways that we can lessen the bite of inflation and rising costs. Although we might prefer fun events to the laborious tasks of our lives, participating in entertainment and merry making could come with a high expense. This is a day for us to be judicious with our finances, look for bargains, and not get enticed by the bling-bling of ostentatious purchases. Tuesday and Wednesday of this week are two days when we might experience the push – pull between our responsibilities and our pleasures, between getting back in focus of our regular involvements and engaging summertime blowouts of good times. Balance is suggested but likely to be lost later in the day on Wednesday and on Thursday of this week.
Wednesday, August 9th – Push Pulls Again – Neptune, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Saturn, Venus, Uranus, Mercury, Jupiter.
Wednesday begins the day with the Taurus Moon sextile Neptune and the Moon trine Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for two and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Taurus and before the Moon enters Gemini where today the Gemini Moon squares Saturn. Venus squares Uranus, and Mercury trines Jupiter. Like the energies yesterday, we might feel the push pulls between summer pleasures and getting back into our regular routine. In some areas of the US, this week heralds the start of the school year or college orientations or preparations for a return to autumnal schedules. The push pulls do not have to be either or. We can find a balance between our summer recreational activities and our readying ourselves for our normal commitments. We need to maintain balance and not go off on extremes. We may want to do what we want to do, and we can, but we don’t need to create a hue and cry, as if throwing a tantrum. Relationships could turn sour if everyone is not on the same page, and it would be wise to cut everyone a great deal of slack, including ourselves. Summer season might seem to be slip sliding away as autumn regularity beckons, but we can still enjoy ourselves by being strategic in our planning and using time management skills to provide time for our fun adventures and time for gearing up for our autumn.
Thursday, August 10th – Diversions, Distractions, Take it Away – Mercury, Sun, Mars. Thursday has the Moon in Gemini with the Gemini Moon today sextile the Sun and the Moon square both Mercury and Mars both in Virgo. An element of helter-skelter that may have begun yesterday, continues today and into tomorrow. It would be wise that we give in to our wishes to have a good time and not try to concentrate on what we need to get done. If we attempt to juggle our responsibilities with summertime recreations, we could make a mess of things. We are unlikely to focus on dealing with our tasks with any attention to the particulars. On the contrary, things can fall between the cracks, and we could find ourselves taking care of matters in a most haphazard manner. It would be far better for us to give into our inclinations to blow this day off. If we do try to take care of our tasks today, then we need to prioritize, slow things down, take things step-by-step and concentrate on the details. Input from other people today can be off the mark with a liability of one person talking about apples, the other person understanding oranges. Trying to accomplish too much today could have us winding up in convoluted situations.
Friday, August 11th – Summer Fridays – Venus, Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course. Friday has the Moon finishing its transit of Gemini with the Gemini Moon sextile Venus early in the day, followed by the Moon square Neptune. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost five and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Gemini and before the Moon enters Cancer late in the day. Although the first half of this week could have had us effective and productive in whatever we were doing, the energies from Wednesday on into this Friday may have seemed like scenes from the Keystone Kops where competency and functionality were nowhere to be found. Fortunately, it’s summer and, even if we’re working, summer Fridays are for early exits or non-entries from any pressing demands but instead engaging summer fun. Starting our weekend on this Friday, whether literally or figuratively from this past Wednesday on, is gentle on our mind. Late in the day, we might want to just kick back, relax, and not put any stress on ourselves.
Saturday, August 12th – Puttering Around – Saturn. Saturday has the Cancer Moon sextile Saturn. After what may have been a frenzied and frantic three-day period, this Saturday might have us turning down the volume and tuning out the static. Doing projects around our home could prove far more relaxing and reinvigorating than being out and about. They used to say that our home was our castle, but in present time our home is more likely a sanctuary from the madding and maddening crowd. We may be doing errands, checking off items on our ‘to do’ list, and correcting any screw-ups we could have made over the past few days. This Saturday might feel like a ‘mental health’ day, a day when we spend time by oneself or with family members. Even if we’re traveling or preparing for our autumn routine, our thoughts might revolve around home and family matters. For many people, this weekend could seem the last real weekend of the summer before we get back on track. Let’s enjoy the comforts of home, pause our hectic activity pace, and relish all the blessings we have in our life.
Sunday, August 13th – Hail, Hail, to Whomever is Here – Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Uranus, Sun, Venus. Sunday has the Cancer Moon sextile both Jupiter and Uranus both in Taurus, and the Moon sextile both Mercury and Mars both in Virgo. The Sun conjuncts Venus. Hopefully, we took time to catch our breath, relax and reinvigorate ourselves yesterday. This Sunday continues with our focus on home and family matters. It is a great day for home projects and social get-togethers. With summer winding down, we might want to catch up with people we haven’t been able to get together over the past few months. All of us tend to be incredibly busy during these fast paced and accelerating times, and it is good now and then to attend to social events with our friends and family. This Sunday is a good day for a major summer blowout. Children are returning to school, students are college bound, and all of us are likely feeling the pull to get back into our regular grind. Before we do so, we can use this Sunday as a celebration of basking in the glow of the summer sun and the expression of our individual inner light. Here’s to summer fast passing by and to our awakening to what is truly going on.
