The astrology for this week of August 28th through September 3rd of 2023 can have us feeling metronome-like swings of moods between elation and despair as we unofficially close out summer in the US with the long Labor Day holiday weekend.
The week starts off with us being highly productive, but only if we want to be. We may prefer a last dash of social get-togethers and fun events rather than dealing with our normal, routine matters.
Despite how we might want things to be, we can feel disappointed that things have not and are not measuring up to the ways we wish them to be.
Because we have been conditioned into assuming that money, and having money, solves all problems, we could easily overspend in the first part of the week to fill a void and satisfy our appetites.
Being financially astute is not a trait embraced, or taught, in our society, hampered even more by the ‘buy now, pay later’ sentiment of credit cards and suggestions of loan forgiveness or even a jubilee moment when all debts are erased. Ah, yes, the beauty of living in la-la land where accountability and responsibility no longer matter.
Illusions and delusions last only so long, and so it may be as we react to the Pisces Full Moon mid-week. A sense of melancholy over what is and what we perceive as could have been may dampen our spirits and add to a feeling of malaise.
If we would acknowledge the wise and true saying that ‘we never get more than we can handle’, instead of falling victim to circumstance, we would be able to address issues and deal with matters in a visionary yet practical approach.
The more we draw upon our faith and recognition of the unexpected occurring during this paradigm shift, the more successful we shall be with our endeavors.
The weekend can be something of an end of summer blowout. We may be closing out the summer, but we could also be looking at turning the page and affirming new beginnings for ourselves, even if the backdrop seems to appear as ‘same old, same old’.
The week ends with Venus ending its six-week retrograde cycle as Venus turns direct. Relationships might have been dicey over the past six weeks with everyone more concerned about their personal interests with an attitude of ‘what have you done for me lately?’ rather than being collaborative. Our connections have a stronger possibility now, although personal interest of being on center stage could continue to be evident. Let’s just be certain that we create win-win situations with our relationships.
Monday, August 28th – Twist of the Turn – Neptune, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars, Uranus retrograde. Monday begins this week with the Moon completing its transit of Capricorn with the Capricorn Moon sextile Neptune and the Moon conjunct Pluto in the early morning hours. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost three hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Capricorn and before the Moon enters Aquarius where the Aquarius Moon today trines Mars. Late in the day, Uranus turns retrograde [10:39 PM EDT]. By Sign, we keep on with the Earth Grand Trine with all three Earth Signs occupied and five of the planets transiting Earth Signs. We could be highly productive and effective as we start this week. Lunch with someone today might prove both enlightening and encouraging to our prospects. We need to keep our eye on the ball and be fully aware of the changing dynamic of these times. The Uranus retrograde demands that we account for our finances, recognize the bite of inflation [on a personal note, I paid 27% more this past week for several items that I had bought over a year ago], and for those with student loans the recent grace period ending come October when monthly payments on student loans resume.
With Uranus retrograde through January 26th of next year, we could become aware of significant issues during that period with global banking systems, debt structures and their financing, decentralized financing with cryptocurrencies and their regulation, and the valuation of national currencies. Will the US dollar continue to be the global reserve currency? That may prove a major question now that the BRICS nations [Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa] during their meeting this past week accepted six countries [Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates] into their organization as of January 1st, 2024. Twenty-two countries applied for admission.
Tuesday, August 29th – Hopes and Wishes – Lunar T-Square, Venus, Jupiter, Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course. Tuesday has the Moon continuing its transit of Aquarius with the Moon today triggering a Fixed Sign T-Square with the Aquarius Moon opposed Venus and the Moon square both Jupiter and Uranus both in Taurus. Late in the day, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for eleven hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aquarius and before the Moon enters Pisces Wednesday morning. What we want to achieve and what we are capable of accomplishing could prove diametrically opposed today. We need to be wary that we don’t overdo by either overexerting or spending too much. A Fixed Sign T-Square is often like rolling a boulder up the hill, Sisyphus-like, only for it to roll back on top of us. We can get obsessed by possibilities and potentials without realizing the steps necessary to complete our intended actions yet continuing to move forward pressing against an unmovable obstacle. Even if we get forward movement today, the latter part of the day could throw unexpected difficulties in our way, bringing our plans to ruin. As paraphrased from the 18th century Scottish poet Robert Burns, ‘the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry’. Let’s keep in mind that these times of paradigm shift call for us to be flexible and adaptable to unexpected situations that could bring waste to our intentions and demand we alter our trajectory.
Wednesday, August 30th – Hump Day, Bump Day – Saturn, Full Moon, Sun. Wednesday has the Moon entering Pisces, where today the Pisces Moon conjuncts Saturn and the Moon opposes the Sun at the time of the Full Moon [9:36 PM EDT]. We could be taut with emotion, feeling as if we are but pawns in the game of life and victims to circumstance. Although many people in our society play the victim role, look solely at all the wrongs in the world, and play the blame game of blaming something or someone else without taking responsibility for their own actions or attitude; we do not have to go down the rabbit hole into an emotional morass. On the contrary, we can draw upon both our intuitive sense and our critical analysis to determine our best course of action. This is a day for us to avoid our moods from getting in our way and stemming what could otherwise be a highly productive day. Our sensitivity may be ratcheted up, and we can be highly impacted by whatever is going on around us. We might be highly critical today, looking for slights from someone, or being a little hard on oneself or on other people. It would be wise for us to stay focused, concentrate on what we wish to accomplish and not let our heart rule our head. The challenge for each of us during these turbulent times of paradigm shift is to let go of our sense of total control over situations and to be flexible and adaptable to changing circumstance. Any rush to judgment can prove premature and quite possibly wrong during these times of asequential reality where things unfold in a most unexpected manner and often with us having to be co-pilots of our trajectory rather than the determining factor.
Thursday, August 31st – Off with the Blinders – Jupiter, Mercury, Uranus. Thursday continues with the Pisces Moon with the Moon today sextile Jupiter at the start of our day, the Moon opposed Mercury, and the Moon sextile Uranus to end the day. After yesterday when we might have engaged the Debbie Downers or Eeyores of our world, possibly even oneself included, we start this Thursday on a more upbeat note. Perhaps we needed a day to go to our own wailing wall where we vented all our frustrations and disappointments in the litany of what we perceive to be our mistakes or failures. This day gives us a thrust of energy, a transfusion of faith and a belief that we can effectively play any hand dealt us. We may have been a little too hard on ourselves and other people yesterday. We do need to prevent ourselves from overthinking things today. If we use solely our reasoning mind, we could put on blinders and evaluate things from critical analysis, dismissing the magic and mini-miracles of these paradigm times. No matter how much we try to squash our enthusiasm or confidence, even slight ‘ah-ha’ moments of serendipity or synchronicity later in the day can make us aware that things occur in the most unexpected manner. This day suggests we take off our blinders, open to receive the magic of these times, and appreciate that things work out the way they will, no matter how we assume the ways they should be.
Friday, September 1st – Too Much or Not Enough – Neptune, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars. Friday begins with the Moon completing its transit of Pisces with the Pisces Moon conjunct Neptune and the Moon sextile Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost three hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces and before the Moon enters Aries where today’s Aries Moon opposes Mars. This day represents endings and beginnings, both in the Moon completing its monthly cycle of the Zodiac wheel to start a new monthly cycle and in this being the beginning of the long Labor Day holiday weekend in the US, the unofficial end of the summer season and the entry into autumn. Hopefully, we accomplished yesterday what we needed to do prior to the weekend, for we are more interested in an early start to the weekend than prolonging this passing week. Although we can feel more energized, we are unlikely to want any confrontations or adversarial issues in our relationships. Relationships may have been dicey over the past six weeks while Venus in Leo has been in retrograde, and any contentious issues could crescendo now and over the weekend as Venus becomes stationary and about to turn direct late on Sunday. Most of us have been under incredible stress with so many varied trigger points — inflation with its increased cost in living, lockdown slippage impacting the learning of our children, threats of war and nuclear holocaust, random violence and people acting out, predictions of a major, even more significant virus outbreak with liable disruptions to our way of life again, climate ‘catastrophe’, and a myriad of other problems related to a dystopian vision of our future. As a result of the stresses and strains on our human psyche, is it any wonder that we might have vented our anger and frustrations on other people and often the most significant people in our lives, using them as safe harbors for us to vent? Let’s use this weekend to enjoy the camaraderie of friends and family and not be too self-protective or overly defensive.
Saturday, September 2nd – Good Times – Venus. Saturday continues with the Aries Moon with the Moon today trine Venus. This is a day for us to enjoy ourselves, engage in pleasurable activities, and reinvigorate ourselves through energetic involvements. We may feel as if we have gained a second wind, but we are still looking out for number one. Although we might want to get together with other people, we do not want to be shunted aside. Instead, we are likely to want to shine, be in the spotlight or, at the least, share the spotlight. If we could step away from familiar patterns today, possibly get out of town, that might prove the best way for us to refresh ourselves. Seeing life from a different perspective and accepting this weekend as the bridge between summer and autumn with us more fully undertaking our regular routine, we can determine what we want to do differently and how we might want to take on projects with the emphasis on our being more effective with less expenditure of energy. With the paradigm shift upon us, we could make significant changes in our life and how we are doing our living. Today offers us a hiatus from what and whom we have been and the initiation of possibilities and different trajectories. Sometimes, we need a breather for the nickels to drop and for us to better understand our options and alternatives. Today provides us such an opportunity.
Sunday, September 3rd – Moving Ahead by Stepping Back – Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Saturn, Venus direct. Sunday begins with the Aries Moon square Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for three hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before the Moon enters Taurus where today the Taurus Moon sextiles Saturn. Venus turns direct [9:20 PM EDT]. Any impetuousness in our considerations of future steps might hit a wall today. We may think that we have solely engaged in pipe dreams, assuming we don’t have the resources to pull off our greatest plans. If we go into that negative attitude, we would be negating the reality of the paradigm shift into asequential reality where things can occur in the most unexpected ways, as if by magic or miracle. We would also be discounting the age-old affirmation: “where there’s a will, there’s a way.” Timing is everything and while we might have to step back and take the edge off any rashness on our part, we can also start to conceptualize and even schematically prepare a best practices approach to achieve our goals. Venus turning direct could benefit our relationships, which may have been dicey over the past six weeks and might even offer us insights as to how best to utilize our resources without draining our reserves. We do need to allow a day or two for the Venus turn to stabilize and take effect.
