The astrology for this week of October 4th through the 10th of 2021 can have us embracing our individuality, taking a stand for our personal commitments, and making plans to express our own unique talents.
This is the second week of the three-week Mercury retrograde. Despite the fact that six of the planets are in retrograde motion, intensifying things on an internal level while slowing things down on an external level, the energy shifts dramatically this week.
Mid-week, we have the Libra New Moon and Pluto turning direct. We then have Venus exiting Scorpio, a Sign of its Detriment, and entering Sagittarius. The weekend ends with Saturn turning direct.
The tides are turning this week, and we could feel more upbeat, more determined in our journey, and willing to get rid the dross in order to concentrate on our way forward.
The week begins with us in a highly productive mode, focused on what we wish to accomplish. We can pare down the non-essentials and be increasingly effective. We might come to appreciate the concept that there are times when ‘less is more’. And these could be one of those times.
The Libra New Moon mid-week can put a tiger in our tank as we look to our future with determination and confidence.
There can be eruptions, explosions and blasts mid-week. Geophysical activity of earthquakes and volcanoes could increase, and any storm systems are liable to pack a punch.
With the various shifts in energy this week, we have to be cautious and mindful in our movements and in our actions.
Th latter part of the week engages our year’s nemesis of the Saturn Uranus square. Delays may occur, and we might feel frustrated by obstacles and unplanned incidents getting in our way.
The weekend may be a time for us to get out of town. It’s the long Columbus Day holiday weekend, a.k.a Indigenous People’s Day, and Thanksgiving in Canada. This is a weekend when people stream out of the cities to go leaf peeping in the country and marvel at the reds, golds, organs, scarlets that paint the country landscape.
We end the weekend with Saturn turning direct. Not that all the frustrations and impediments and delays are all going to magically disappear. We just might find that things are smoother to develop and easier to accomplish.
No major decisions or significant purchases would be advised, for this is the second week of Mercury retrograde with the third and final week of this Mercury retrograde next week. Murphy’s Law is still in effect where ‘whatever can go wrong could go wrong’.
Monday, October 4th – Taking Care of Business – Neptune, Lunar Grand Trine, Uranus, Pluto. Monday begins this week with the Moon in Virgo and the Moon opposed Neptune and the Moon triggering by Sign an Earth Grand Trine with the Moon trine Uranus in Taurus early in the day and the Moon trine Pluto in Capricorn to end the day. If we would focus on what we need to get done, employ both time management skills and an innovative approach to our involvements, we could be highly effective and productive. No matter what we have scheduled for today, it would be wise for us to note and attend to those situations that seem beckoning our attention. By listening to our inner voice and by willing to shift our plans, we can take care of our responsibilities, tie up loose ends of outstanding matters, and bring conclusions to some of our projects. If we dither about, we could lose some valuable impetus to resolve various issues. We are on the ‘dark side’ of the Moon prior to Wednesday’s New Moon. Monday and Tuesday are two days for us to wrap up pending situations in order to have a clean, or at least cleaner, slate to begin the two-week New Moon influence starting on Wednesday.
Tuesday, October 5th – Fallen Between the Cracks – Venus, Moon Void-of-Course, Saturn. Tuesday has the Moon continue its transit of Virgo with the Virgo Moon sextile Venus. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost four hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Virgo and before the Moon enters Libra where late in the day the Libra Moon trines Saturn. One of the opportunities that retrograde planets offers, and especially evident during a Mercury retrograde, is the ability to go back over situations and, if necessary, tweak, rework or fix any problems associated with that particular matter. And so it may be for us on this Tuesday. We are also on the ‘dark side’ of the Moon prior to tomorrow’s New Moon signature. This Tuesday is primed for us to look at where we are and adapt consciously to changing circumstance. One area we might need to consider would be our financial structure, the balance between our revenue stream and our expenditures. Both from the ravages of inflation / shrinkflation and impending increased taxes in their various forms, our financial situation could be adversely impacted. Now would be a time for us to look at our expenses, the increasing costs of our essentials, and determine where we are able to cut back. We should ask ourselves whether we, both as individuals and as a society, have been living in a phantasmagoric bubble. Tuesday may be a day for us to take a cold, hard look at our conditions and prepare for the effects of changing circumstance of which we should be aware. As the saying goes: “forewarned is forearmed.” We just need to engage action to any nagging concerns. Drawing upon a trusted confidante to objectively critique our situation would help us assuage our anxieties and help tamper down our concerns over the whipsaws of market psychology between greed and fear.
Wednesday, October 6th – Going Forward Together – Libra New Moon, Sun, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Pluto direct. Wednesday has the Libra New Moon [7:05 AM EDT] with the Sun Moon conjunction also with the Moon conjunct Mars and later the Moon conjunct Mercury. Towards the end of the day, the Moon trines Jupiter. Pluto turns direct [2:29 PM EDT]. With a signature for the next two weeks up to the Full Moon on the 20th, we are in a period when there is a great thrust of energy. Either we can ride the waves, or we are liable to be body slammed, all dependent upon whether we are aware and mindful and able to both keep up with and rein in the energies. Whenever Pluto changes direction, whether from direct to retrograde or from retrograde to direct motion, there are liable to be intense releases of energy. These releases often take the form of people acting out, aggressive actions, explosive blasts, earthquake and volcanic activity, and intense atmospheric storm systems. We need to be cautious and careful during such times, especially with Pluto turning direct when we have Mars ratcheting up the New Moon configuration. Although we are likely to feel more energetic than recently with recent times having us exhausted and fatigued and with little energy to speak of, the shift in energy could feel like idling flipped into overdrive. We might consider future plans and what we wish to pursue in our days ahead. Let’s keep in mind that we are still in a Mercury retrograde. It would be far better for us to make our plans, and in pencil with a big eraser, rather than implementing our intentions. This is a day and a two-week period to listen to the input of a special someone or other people. They might be more objective, able to see our pursuits more clearly and with a detached perspective, than we are able to do when our passions are engaged and we’re ready to go full speed ahead. Despite the intense impetus, it would be suggested we slow down and not move too fast. This two-week period suggests we engage tai chi movements, slow and focused but incredibly profound and moving.
Thursday, October 7th – Exuberance Before our Nemesis – Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Saturn, Venus Sagittarius. Thursday begins with the Libra Moon square Pluto in the early morning hours. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost nine and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Libra and before the Moon enters Scorpio where late in the day the Moon squares Saturn and triggers the Saturn Uranus square with the Moon opposed Uranus tomorrow. Venus exits Scorpio, a Sign of Detriment for Venus where Venus is not at all comfortable, and Venus enters Sagittarius [7:21 AM EDT]. With the Sun Mars influence with the Sun exactly conjunct Mars tomorrow, and with Venus in Sagittarius, we can be feeling upbeat, more socially inclined, and interested in working on collaborative projects. If we have been overly possessive or highly critical of other people over the past four weeks, we can take off our edge and be more appreciative of the people in our lives. We are looking for good times with good friends. We may have our focus more on the distant horizon of future activities than be mired in present circumstance or apparent conditions. Today might be better served taking one step at a time with the recognition that every journey begins with a first step, followed by step by step. Even if past issues come up towards the end of the day, we do not have to be bowled over by them. Despite entanglements, we have the will and the capability of extricating ourselves from any obstacles in our way and proceed forward on our individual pathway.
Friday, October 8th – Gung Ho, Stubbing the Toe – Neptune, Lunar T-Square, Uranus, Jupiter, Sun, Mars. Friday has the Scorpio Moon trine Neptune and the Moon finishing up the Saturn Uranus square which is our year’s nemesis. Yesterday, the Scorpio Moon squared Saturn. Today, the Moon opposes Uranus and the Moon triggers a Fixed Sign T-Square with the Moon opposed Uranus and the Moon square Jupiter. The Sun conjuncts Mars. Initially impacted at the New Moon on Wednesday, our thrust ahead is ratcheted up today by the Sun conjunct Mars. While we might have to circumnavigate unexpected impediments and need to keep a grip on our confidence, this is a day when once set into motion there may be no stopping us. Both ridding ourselves of the unnecessary and maintaining a focus on our long-term goals would allow us to plow forward assertively and with great determination. Our compassion can be engaged, but let’s be cognizant of other people’s needs without overly accommodating their interests. With the weekend in the US being a long holiday weekend, we might decide to take off early whether out of town or to participate in fun social occasions.
Saturday, October 9th – Beauty All Around – Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Venus, Saturn, Sun, Mercury, Mars. Early on Saturday, the Scorpio Moon sextiles Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost nine and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Scorpio and before the Moon enters Sagittarius where today the Sagittarius Moon conjuncts Venus and the Moon sextiles Saturn. The Sun conjuncts Mercury, and Mercury conjuncts Mars. This Saturday would be a great day to spend it with a special someone, get out of Dodge, and see the beauty all around us and the many blessings in our doing life. In the northern latitudes, this weekend is often referred to as ‘leaf peeping’ weekend with the autumn colors ablaze on the country landscape. Whether we get out of town or enjoy the company of friends in a relaxed atmosphere, this day can be uplifting, inspiring and reinvigorating. If we give thought to our future endeavors, we may combine both strategic planning and practical application in how we might proceed. With Mercury retrograde and Saturn stationary and poised to turn direct late on Sunday, planning and brainstorming are better today than implementing and executing. Our actual engagement of our intended endeavors are better after Mercury turns direct, after October 18th.
Sunday, October 10th – Good Times in Moderation – Mercury, Mars, Sun, Neptune, Saturn direct. Saturday had the Stellium in Libra with the Sun, Mercury and Mars all highlighted. This accentuation continues on this Sunday as the Sagittarius Moon sextiles the three Libra-transiting planets of Mercury, Mars, and the Sun. Late in the day, the Moon squares Neptune at the same time that Saturn turns direct [10:17 PM EDT]. Social occasions and interactions with people can be entertaining and enjoyable get-togethers. We might participate in recreational activities, engage creative pursuits, or observe the talents of others in entertainment venues. This weekend is a weekend to enjoy the company of other people, concentrate on the pleasantries, and leave the turmoil and the woes of the world outside the door. It is important that we keep in mind the suggestion of ‘moderation in all things’, for too much of a good thing can be too much. Saturn turning direct, following on Pluto turning direct at the time of the New Moon this past Wednesday, diminishes the impediments and delays we may have experienced over the past 4-5 months. We still have another week of Mercury retrograde, but we might feel that the blockages and restrictions are lifting and lightening our load.
