The astrology for this week of July 4th through the 10th of 2022 can have us swinging between extremes of being upbeat and highly productive to being stuck in a muddle and without the tools necessary to extract oneself.
The week begins with Independence Day in the US, rich in tradition but with liable protests about whatever annoys the protester. Instead of seeing the half glass of water as half-filled, many people prefer acting as Eeyores or Debbie Downers and seeing the half glass of water as half empty. One would think constantly engaging a negative attitude would get tiresome, but playing victim seems too often to get the cheese.
After the fireworks of the long holiday weekend in the US, fireworks both literally and figuratively, the week settles down as two planets make significant Sign changes late on Monday, early Tuesday.
Mars exits its own Sign of Aries to enter Taurus, a Sign of Detriment for Mars where the pioneering, assertive, even impetuous energy is toned down to a deadening pace as if trying to wade through quicksand.
The other Sign change is Mercury exiting its own Sign of Gemini to enter Cancer. Scintillating ideas, varied discussions are tamped down as our thoughts turn to home and family matters and our conversations likely become reticent and reserved for only those people who share our opinions and our general take on world affairs.
Not that life is coming to a screeching halt. It’s just that we might not be as strong in our opinion or our presence as we had been during the spring.
A metronome-quality is enforced during the week and into the weekend. We may feel as though ‘every which way but loose’, as we contend with Lunar T-Squares, one after another.
Fortunately, we end the weekend looking to spread our wings, explore new realms, and take off for parts unknown — whether we travel physically or do so solely in our consciousness.
Monday, July 4th – Whose Independence Daze – Sun, Venus, Uranus. Monday is Independence Day in the US and the last day of the long summer holiday weekend. The Virgo Moon today sextiles the Sun, the Moon squares Venus, and the Moon trines Uranus to end the day. We can be involved with our holiday festivities whether we barbecue, go to the beach, or head off on happy trails on nature walks. We are more interested in having a good time and leaving the disputes and enmities behind. Unfortunately, conversations nowadays seem to be like walking on eggshells. The linguistics Stasi are on high alert, and even the most unconscious use of words, pronouns, statements, and beliefs can bring the self-righteous down on us with a hammer. It’s interesting that today is Independence Day when it feels for some people as though our freedoms and liberties are being ever more constrained and restricted. If we believe in a greater power and the self-affirmation of our own personal journey through this life experience, we should not feel limited by consensus opinion or the antics of the powers-that-be. The endless chatter of the narrative eventually only becomes like some constant static that we tune out by our awakening to the ironies and the foibles of humankind as we become more aware of the paradigm shift with its asequential reality of magic and miracles and things happening in a most unexpected manner, glimpses of which we might give witness to at the end of this Monday.
Tuesday, July 5th – Let’s do the Time Warp Again – Neptune, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury, Mars, Mars Taurus, Mercury Cancer. Tuesday continues with the Virgo Moon with the Moon opposed Neptune, and the Moon trine Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost four and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Virgo and before the Moon enters Libra where late in the day the Moon squares Mercury, which has today entered Cancer. Mars exits its own Sign of Aries and enters Taurus [2:04 AM EDT], a Sign of Detriment for Mars. Mercury exits its own Sign of Gemini and enters Cancer [2:25 AM EDT]. Mercury sextiles Mars. Whenever planets change Signs or change direction, things can get squirrely until we get accustomed to the dramatic shift in energy. And so it can be for us on this Tuesday. The Moon Neptune opposition does not help matters, for what we see and hear might not be the true reality of the situation. Important information can be left out. That doesn’t stop people from pushing their agenda, and this day demands that we keep our wits about us, since the mirage of hype, sparkling presentations, and inflated appearance could be tantalizing, overwhelming, but liable to be deadly wrong. The two planets changing Signs also have two planets going from transiting positive Sign into transiting negative Signs. With the balance between the positive and negative Signs lost, there can be a tendency for us to be less proactive, less assertive, and more reticent, more complacent to whatever is happening. While we may find ourselves in a bit of a muddle today, let’s take our time in adjusting to changing conditions. Much of our focus could start to shift to home and family matters, slowing things down, and establishing a secure base of operations. Life might be accelerating, but we are likely and more willing to apply braking action.
Wednesday, July 6th – You and Me – Lunar T-Square, Jupiter, Sun. Wednesday has the Libra Moon triggering a Cardinal Sign T-Square as the Moon opposes Jupiter at the start of the day, and the Moon squares the Sun at the end of the day. We are not ‘islands unto ourselves’, and there are times when it is essential that we find a balance between our personal needs and the interests of someone else. Otherwise, we are liable to be in a tug-of-war, a liability we may need to avoid this Wednesday morning. Either we could be too accommodating to someone’s concerns, or we might be running roughshod over someone’s interests. This Wednesday calls for balance. We can be in a high energy mode trying to do any number of things, but it would be wise for us to prioritize our activities. If we are thinking about summer travel, today is a day to seriously consider the pros and cons. One pro would be the opportunity after two years of being hampered in our travels to go for it and fly away. The cons are the increased costs and the questionability of easy travel during disruptions due to staffing shortages and cancellations. The question of whether to stay or go can be confusing but could be better resolved by having alternate plans and options in mind. While there are times when too much information and too many opinions may be disconcerting, taking into account various people’s opinions and suggestions would allow a broader realm of considerations.
Thursday, July 7th – All Together Now – Lunar Grand Trine, Venus, Saturn, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course. If there were any toe-stomping yesterday, this Thursday allows for amends. Thursday can be an especially pleasant day up until late in the day. The Libra Moon triggers an Air Grand Trine with the Libra Moon trine Venus in Gemini and the Moon trine Saturn in Aquarius. Later in the day, the Moon squares Pluto before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for four hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Libra and before the Moon enters Scorpio early on Friday morning. Interactions with other people today can be exceptional. People are less judgmental, more appreciative of personal connections, and interested in whatever anyone has to share. What a difference a day makes. Perhaps we are less self-defensive today, even more confident in our own being. This Thursday is a good day for making plans for social occasions, reunions, and trips away. In a sense, we may have the feeling that the future is now. Late in the day, we might feel that we have neglected our responsibilities. Let’s keep in mind that the astrological energies do not conform to our calendar, that there are times when re-creational activities are best done on weekdays rather than just waiting for the weekend. This Thursday is one of those days to put our obligations on the back burner and enjoy the company of others, do what we want to do, and recognize that our tasks can wait for another day.
Friday, July 8th – Reining in, Clearing out – Mars, Mercury. The Moon enters Scorpio where today the Scorpio Moon opposes Mars and the Moon trines Mercury. We might awaken to a compelling sense of everything we need to do, some of the activities we may have put off yesterday. We could start the day in high anxiety mode, but it would be wise for us to tone things down, not get ahead of ourselves or try to do things in one fell swoop. If we try to take on too many things all at once, we are liable to ‘throw the baby out with the bath water’ and either attend to matters in a half-hearted and flawed manner or neglect necessary details just to accomplish the task at hand. We might need to tap the brakes as we start this day, for otherwise we can start off with a great head of steam but without direction or itinerary in hand. As the day progresses, we may be more astute and have a better grip on things. The evening hours could be pleasant times at home with family or just relaxing with no mind as to what is occurring in the world-at-large. Thursday seems the best day of this week for our relationships, and this Friday is a day for us to tie up loose ends and then enjoy the comforts of home. Saturday can prove dicey, not necessarily a play day, but needing us to be alert and mindful. Friday is a day to rein in our intensity, to clean up and clear out the debris of our lives.
Saturday, July 9th – Tale of Two Dispositions – Lunar Grand Trine, Sun, Neptune, Lunar T-Square, Uranus, Saturn, Mercury, Jupiter. Saturday could prove one interesting day with wide swings depending upon our disposition at the moment. The Moon continues its transit of Scorpio with the Moon triggering both a Water Grand Trine and a Fixed Sign T-Square. The Scorpio Moon trines the Sun in Cancer and the Moon trines Neptune in Pisces for a Water Grand Trine. The Moon also triggers last year’s nemesis of the Saturn Uranus square by the Scorpio Moon opposed Uranus in Taurus and the Moon square Saturn in Aquarius for a Fixed Sign T-Square. Mercury squares Jupiter. This is a day when we have to be wary of buying into the attitude of ‘all or nothing at all’. Our emotions are likely heightened, and time spent with family and loved ones can be close to idyllic. Our time might be better spent at home or in familiar surroundings. If we try to force issues, attempt too much or move beyond our normal parameters we could find ourselves spinning our wheels, with delays, being frustrated, and possibly getting nowhere. This is a day for us to make choices, keep a healthy hold on our emotions, and maintain our composure. Things may take longer than we might like, but an attitude of bemusement at the ironies and antics of humankind can provide solace to us as we deal with the liable whipsaws of this Saturday.
Sunday, July 10th – Free as a Bird – Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Jupiter, Sun, Uranus. The early morning hours of Sunday has the Scorpio Moon sextile Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for four hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Scorpio and before the Moon enters Sagittarius still in the early morning hours of this Sunday. The Sagittarius Moon trines Jupiter. The Sun sextiles Uranus. Sunday is a day to draw upon a blank slate. If we don’t have commitments for this Sunday, and even if we do, today is a day to do things on the fly. We may wish to change things up, whether it’s our home environment, our wardrobe, a personal makeover or take off out of town. Although the weekend is often a time for us to relax, recreate and enjoy ourselves, Saturday might have been dicey with evidence of life’s duality providing both the good and the bad. This Sunday has a totally different characteristic. We may be feeling upbeat, energized and optimistic. Let’s allow our enthusiasm to soar with the eagles and ride the air currents by engaging good times and happy moments.
