The astrology for this week of December 9th through the 15th of 2024 can have us fast out of the gate only to be pulled up short before we come into a weekend of festivities, celebrations, and possible mix-ups.
The week begins with the Moon entering Aries to start a new monthly transit of the Moon through the Zodiac. We may feel energized early in the week, as if getting a second wind. Let’s just keep in mind that Mercury is still retrograde with Murphy’s Law in effect of ‘whatever can go wrong could go wrong’.
A sense of hitting the wall could knock us back on our heels during the mid-week period. Perhaps we tried to go too far, too fast, only to find ourselves pulled up short.
The end of the week and over the weekend could have all sorts of exciting events. We are in the holidays, a time of year when each of us revels in our child-like romps through the decorations, lights, social gatherings, and good spirits.
The weekend closes out with the Gemini Full Moon on Sunday morning followed by Mercury turning direct later in the day. The week comes to closure with a strong dose of frenzy and confusion as the excitement of these times ratchets up.
Monday, December 9th – Fast out of the Gate – Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course, Pluto, Venus, Mars. Monday begins this week with the Pisces Moon conjunct Neptune in the early morning. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for five hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces and before the Moon enters Aries where today the Aries Moon sextiles both Pluto and Venus both in Aquarius and the Moon trines Mars later in the day. With a desire to put spirit into action, we can be considering all sorts of new beginnings for ourselves and the various plans we have for our holidays. Whether we get together with people in person, by text, holiday cards or some other form of connection, we might use this day as a reach out to friends and colleagues. This is a day when we could be looking forward but also aware of our past. Despite Mercury still being retrograde and suggesting we engage both caution and reevaluations as we go along, this Monday is a primo day to initiate projects, get our holiday preparations in order, and check our list of all the things we intend to do before the year is out. We are likely to have a great deal of energy today, and the evening hours would be a good time to enjoy holiday events.
Tuesday, December 10th – In the Spirit – Mercury, Jupiter, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. Tuesday continues with the Moon’s transit through Aries. In the early morning hours, the Moon trines Mercury. The Moon sextiles Jupiter midday, and the Moon trines the Sun later in the day. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for seventeen and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before the Moon enters Taurus Wednesday morning. Monday and Tuesday are two primo days of this week, days when we can be feeling upbeat, expanding our activities, and accomplishing a great amount. We may feel buoyed by the displays of holiday cheer and find ourselves getting into the spirit of the season. If we can take ‘time out’ from our regular routine and enjoy ourselves, we are likely being uplifted, seeing all the good in life, and appreciative of a sense of well-being. Monday and Tuesday of this week are two days when we could be highly productive, achieve more than we could have imagined, and be operating on greased wheels, everything operating smoothly and easily. Even under the Mercury retrograde. Wednesday may well be a far different story.
Wednesday, December 11th – Grumpy and the Grinch – Moon Void-of-Course, Lunar T-Square, Pluto, Venus, Mars. Wednesday begins with the Void-of-Course Moon finishing its transit of Aries without making any connections to the planets. The Moon then moves into Taurus where today the Taurus Moon triggers a Fixed Sign T-Square with the Taurus Moon square both Pluto and Venus both in Aquarius and the Moon square Mars in Leo. After what might have been two splendiferous days, even despite Mercury retrograde, the wheels could come off the bus on this Wednesday. The Mars Pluto opposition is engaged and with Venus thrown into the mix, we need to be wary that relationships don’t become dicey, and our frustrations know no bounds. We might feel that we don’t have the resources to truly enjoy the upcoming holidays, or we might experience items we intended to buy out of stock, on back order, with no definitive date for their arrival. The liability of getting grumpy and acting Grinch-like cannot be discounted on this Wednesday. Intensity can ratchet up beyond a boiling point with the spill over into people acting recklessly, pushing the envelope, and the possibility of increased accidents and aggressive behavior. Everyone may need to take a ‘chill pill’, not take things personally, and preferably engage an attitude of bemusement at the human foibles. Holidays often heighten the frenzy. With holiday shopping in gear, people may be hustling and bustling with scant awareness of their surroundings or little consideration of other people. This Wednesday demands that we be patient, accept delays and frustrations, and not overly react to the conditions and circumstance. Today offers us an opportunity to learn how best to deal with the Mars Pluto opposition that will impact us, on and off, through the spring of 2025.
Thursday, December 12th – Chip on a Shoulder – Saturn, Venus, Mars. Thursday continues with the Taurus Moon with the Moon today sextile Saturn. Venus opposes Mars. Yesterday might have had us scraping our knees. Coming off two highly pleasant, smooth, and easily unfolding days on Monday and Tuesday, we may have felt like we got whacked on the side of the head yesterday. The shift in energy could have been quite extreme with us feeling every which way but loose. We are liable to have popped off at any slight or irritation or delay. This Thursday might continue yesterday’s theme with us loaded for bear and a propensity in our relationships where we need and demand respect and appreciation from everyone we encounter. Our interactions with people could be a tug-of-war. If we don’t want our relationships to explode or implode, we may need to walk on eggshells, be conciliatory, and avoid being overly defensive or engaging the sentiment that a strong offense is a good defense. Wednesday and Thursday have energies that can create difficulties with our interpersonal connections. Let’s focus on what we need to attend to, even go it alone, to prevent blow-ups with other people today. Everyone may have a chip on their shoulder today. Nothing good will come from knocking the chip off.
Friday, December 13th – Transformative Times – Uranus, Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course, Pluto, Mars, Mercury. Friday begins with the Moon completing its transit of Taurus with the Taurus Moon conjunct Uranus and the Moon sextile Neptune. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for five hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Taurus and before the Moon enters Gemini. The Gemini Moon today trines Pluto, the Moon sextiles Mars, and the Moon opposes Mercury. Mercury sextiles Venus. As we have experienced in recent months, the Moon connects with the three transcendental planets of Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto today. Although we often fear Friday the 13th, the title for which built a horror movie franchise, thirteen is the number of transformation and indicative of the ‘realized individual’. In the concept of the hero’s / heroine’s journey, there are often phases, challenges and opportunities, that we go through to transcend our ego personality, move beyond earthly matter, and achieve the victory of spirit over matter. After two days on Wednesday and Thursday when we could have sensed that we were fighting against the world, Friday allows for an ease of flow if we acknowledge the power and support of universal unfolding and don’t get in our own way. Even our relationships might seem easier and more pleasant with people less likely to be jockeying for position by primarily concerned about playing the role of ‘I’m number one’. Social gatherings can be enjoyable events with celebrations of holiday cheer and an appreciation of the social circle of which we are an integral part.
Saturday, December 14th – Contingency Plans Work – Venus, Saturn, Jupiter. The Moon continues its transit of Gemini with the Gemini Moon today trine Venus, the Moon square Saturn, and the Moon conjunct Jupiter. We might want to continue the ‘feel good’ vibe of yesterday, and we can do so if we plan out our day, strategize our ‘to do’ list, and address pressing demands and responsibilities before engaging in fun entertainment. We may prefer getting together with friends or spending time with a special someone but like a horse before the cart scenario, it would be better for us to take care of our tasks and obligations before we take off and enjoy ourselves. The Saturn Jupiter square that speaks to an expansion – contraction pace, with expansion leading to snapbacks, and restrictions loosening up to greater freedom of movement is in force. This Saturday can begin with the sense of contraction before giving way to greater expansion. On this Saturday it would be wise for us to first take care of business and then spread our wings and explore a wide realm of possibilities. An enlivening afternoon and evening with a special someone can lift our spirits, entertain a wide realm of possibilities, and appreciate the many blessings in our life.
Sunday, December 15th – World of Confusion – Full Moon, Lunar T-Square, Sun, Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury direct. Sunday has the Gemini Moon triggering a Mutable Sign T-Square with the Moon opposed the Sun at the Full Moon [4:02 AM EST] and the Moon square Neptune. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost five hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Gemini and before the Moon enters Cancer. The Cancer Moon today makes no contact with the planets. Mercury ends its three-week retrograde cycle and turns direct [3:56 PM EST]. With the Full Moon signature having the Moon in the Sign ruled by Mercury, Mercury turning direct, and Neptune thrown into the mix, this Sunday can be one high energy, intensely nervous, and anxiety-provoking day. Today suggests we tap the brakes occasionally or face the possibility of running around willy-nilly without direction and with little clarity. A wide range of engagements can entice us to try this, try that, but without coming to any definitive decision. It would be far better for us to be tentative in our actions than looking to make major commitments. Whenever Mercury turns direction, whether from direct to retrograde or retrograde to direct motion, things can get squirrely until we adjust to the shift in energy. And at times of a Full Moon the energy is increased severalfold. Add to it Neptune being in the mix, and this Sunday might have us in a world of confusion. This is a day for us to slow things down, not move too fast, and apply the brakes now and then. Don’t be surprised if you hear of various accidents occurring at this time.
