This week is the end of Winter and the beginning of Spring. Change is in the air, and we are likely to want to explore, experiment and try something new and different. And we might ask ourselves: why not? We should probably go for it!

Part of the change that could be prodding us is an effort to streamline situations, to be more effective with less expenditure of energy and to be more productive through the best use of time. We may get some incredible insights this week. It’s as though a light bulb were going on in our head, revealing startling thoughts, innovative ideas and new ways of doing things.

We may feel as if we are getting a second wind. Our physical energy may pick up. We could be less lethargic and more willing and able to put our mark on our personal world. Similar to nature itself with the beginning of Spring, we might feel like we’re going through a rebirth, a renaissance and looking at areas of our life that call for new beginnings.

While we might be looking to launch new projects now, it would be wise not to rush forward without doing the necessary preparation work. We might be so enthused about our plans that we gloss over particulars and neglect specifics. There could be computer glitches and possible problems with cell phones and other forms of communication. Our technological advances are far quicker than the infrastructure designed to deliver information allows for. It is important for us to back up our information and be certain that messages we’ve sent have been received.

This week begins with a powerful Pisces New Moon, which imprints the next two weeks ahead. Startling revelations can provide unexpected information. Things may certainly not be as they seem or appear. Computer problems could prove persistent with possible breakdowns in communications. Storm systems could prove fierce both in the amount of precipitation with a liability to flash floods and in the intensity of winds with strings of tornadoes or other cyclonic storm systems.

We can think outside the box, consider alternatives but it is essential that we be vigilant, aware and mindful. The times they are a’changing, and we need to be flexible and adaptable to unexpected situations and unanticipated variables.

Monday, March 15th – A Brand New Day – Pisces New Moon, Sun, Uranus, Mercury. Monday begins the week with an altered reality. We may feel as though we’ve fallen down the rabbit hole and entered Alice’s surrealistic Wonderland. And coincidentally, if you believe in coincidence, one of the top grossing movies right now is Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland starring Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter. This Monday has the Pisces Lunation, the Pisces New Moon with a Stellium of three or more planets in the Mutable Water Sign as the Sun Moon conjunction also conjunct the Mercury Uranus conjunction. Wahoo! Let’s fasten our seat belts, boys and girls, for the next two weeks may be quite a wild ride. At times, we may feel as though we have stepped aboard the magical mystery tour whereby things happen in a serendipitous, miraculous and magical manner. Other times, we may feel as if we have fallen into a Bosch – Bruegel nightmarish fantasy world where it feels as though the floor on which we’re standing continually opens up beneath us. However we approach this day and the next two weeks, one thing is quite likely — dramatic, unexpected changes. As we are coming to the end of the astrological year and about to enter the new year over the weekend with the Vernal Equinox and the entry of the Sun into Aries, now is good time for a late winter cleaning, getting rid of the old, tying up loose ends and bringing closure to issues that have been hanging over us. Of course, even if we choose not to do a clean up and clear out, we might discover that the universe does it for us as the universe clears away debris from our lives, even debris to which we have been most attached. Communications, travel, computers can all be impacted by the high energy thrust of this New Moon. Some people may have an epiphany and come to a sudden realization, while other people could go off the deep end seeking solace in drink, drugs, or great illusions. Whatever is going on, it would be important for us not to jump to conclusions or rush into action with constant re-evaluations and continual re-considerations along the way. We may feel like we’re in Heaven or Hell, a combination of the two, or a caroming between the two. Yes, the games begin.

Tuesday, March 16th – Between a Rock and a Hard Place – Mars, Lunar T-Square, Saturn, Pluto. Tuesday has the Moon moving into Aries where it trines Mars but also triggers our square between Saturn and Pluto and creates the T-Square with which we shall become most familiar over the next two years when Uranus enters Aries and maintains a constant T-Square by opposing Saturn and squaring Pluto. We may have the zest and determination to focus our energies on creative outlets today. We want to put our mark on the world, express ourselves and display our talents. Lovely concept, no doubt, but a wrinkle comes in by way of the T-Square with the Aries Moon opposed Saturn and square Pluto. We should be getting used to this T-Square, especially seeing how our familiarity with this T-Square will build up ever more so later this year and next year. Have you noticed that, whether we choose to do so or not, each one of us is taking a walk down Memory Lane? Our past is popping up, coming out of nowhere and reminding us of where we have been. I find it fascinating how people from our past are resurfacing. For myself, I have heard from people I knew my first year in college and with no subsequent contact until now, a considerable time later of decades and decades. These reconnections of long forgotten contacts have occurred for other people I know too, and I would venture possibly for you as well. The collapse of time and space whereby past, present and future are all NOW is happening in an accelerating manner. Even if we enjoy the reunions with people long forgotten, it also forces us to look at where we were at different times, whom we were and possibly even to evaluate where we have come. Although we may find past matters to pop up in our present, we also have to recognize a contracting phase, a recognition that the expanding enthusiasm of the past two decades has given way to a time of enforced security, concentrated power and a greater divide between the powers-that-be and the individual expression. We might witness greater episodes of David and Goliath scenarios as the emphasis upon individual self-expression freely engaged conflicts with the contracting structured format of authority.

Wednesday, March 17th – A Little Levity, if You Will – Sun, Uranus, Mercury, Mars, Venus, Mercury Aries. This Wednesday is Saint Patrick’s Day, a day of celebration when every one of us is Irish, wearing green, perhaps eating corn beef and cabbage and downing a Guinness or a Harp lager or two, and enjoying a little levity. Today, the Sun conjuncts Uranus, Mercury moves into Aries with Mercury trining Mars and the Aries Moon conjunct Venus. This day can be a fun day, a day when we might want to act in a spontaneous manner, not be constricted by our ordinary daily existence or confined by our routine, but rather enjoy ourselves and have a good time. We may indulge ourselves, all with the idea of doing what we want and having a good time. There are enough times when we have to get serious, possibly even fret over life’s mundane concerns, but this Wednesday is St. Paddy’s Day and gives us all license to get off the track, celebrate, and be of good cheer. There’s an impetus today for us to assert our individuality, do something different and focus on our personal projects. We may also be feeling a good dose of Spring fever today. We shouldn’t expect too much of ourselves in regard to getting much work done. We are far more interested in new projects, start-up situations and putting much of the year behind us and bask in the feel of a renaissance, our rebirth.

Thursday, March 18th – Grinding Gears – Mercury, Saturn, Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars, Pluto. If you ever learned to drive a stick shift in a manual transmission car, then you might appreciate the learning curve complete with kangaroo hops and the grinding of gears as you jammed the stick shift through the gears with the clutch hardly in or all the way out. Quite a screeching noise, you might recall. Not that this Thursday has to be replete with screeching noises, but there could be some squeals of annoyance. We may wake up full of beans, thinking of all the wonderful escapades we might have. They might even include slaying a dragon or two. For we start this Thursday with the Aries Moon sextile Neptune. Yes, we may marvel at our world of possibilities that awaits us. Of course, such a world is far easier to manifest and cope with in our mind’s eye, than in reality. And that could be where the rub comes in: reality. Or is it a grinding of gears? The Moon goes Void-of-Course for five hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Aries and before entering Taurus where it squares Mars before making a trine to Pluto. Meanwhile, we have Mercury opposing Saturn. In a perfect world, we can make everything we want happen, the way we want it to happen and without any friction or disappointment. And that is why we can consider it a perfect world. But in reality, there are times where our plans can come to naught, times when other people may not always agree with us, support us and encourage us. This Thursday might prove to be one of those days. Whether other people stand in our way or situations arise that daunt us, things may not run smoothly. We might not be able to glide quickly down the autobahn but rather could encounter potholes, bumps in the road and a grinding of the gears. We have to be careful that frustrations don’t lead to depressions or conflicts with other people. Instead of grinding gears and getting nowhere, today is a day to enlist tai chi moves, recognize there can be times of movements, times of delays and stoppages. Let’s work with the energy, rather than fight against it. Let’s do what we can do when we can do it and avoid confrontations with other people. Everybody may want their way and in so doing create a win lose scenario. The best approach today is for us to determine how we can create a win win scenario, whereby everybody gets their way and no one loses face.

Friday, March 19th – Easy Does It – Jupiter. Friday may prove to be the least frenetic day of this week. The Taurus Moon sextiles Jupiter. If we take things one step at a time, then we can move things along. For much of this week, and during their phase, everyone may seem to be amping, wanting to get on with it, immersed in their own self-interests and overly focused on their personal world. Receptivity may be lacking in general. Today is a day for us to seek nurture and comfort, whether we find it in the sanctity of our home, out shopping for something that contributes to our personal makeover or getting out into nature and becoming one with the rhythmic cycles of natural life. This day is not one to focus on heavy accomplishments or assume that we can achieve a great deal. Today is far better for us to catch our breath, realign ourselves and reconnect with our goals and our dreams. Today is the last day of the Sun in Pisces, the last day of the astrological year. We might want to do a symbolic representation of leaving the year behind. Meditating, burning a candle, soaking in a tub with bath salts can all give momentary pause as we consider the passing of the old year and the advent of the new year. The more we can release this past year and let go, the less baggage we shall bring into our new astrological year.

Saturday, March 20th – Good Day, Starshine – Mercury, Pluto, Uranus, Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course, Sun, Mars, Saturn, Sun Aries. Today brings closure to the Winter and the beginning of the new astrological year as the Sun exits Pisces and enters Aries. Welcome to Spring, even though we may not have finished our winter of discontent, the labor pains and growing pains of the shapeshifting that we as individuals and as a society are going through. The day begins with the Taurus Moon sextile Uranus and square Neptune. We might need to let go of our expectations and instead be open to the magic of the moment. These times will whittle away at our sense of control over situations and allow us to embrace an appreciation for the mini-miracles and serendipity of life in the 2010’s. ‘Same old, same old’ just is not going to cut it. The letting go may be difficult, but the more we embrace our flexibility and our adaptability, the more we can successfully navigate these uncharted waters. Moving into Aries, the Sun gives us a renewed sense of self-declaration, a desire to do our thing and may energize us and prod us to experiment with our lives. We now have a Stellium of three or more planets in the Cardinal Fire Sign as the Sun joins Mercury and Venus in Aries. By Sign, these Aries planets are trining Mars in Leo. We may feel more energized, seeking outlets for our creative self-expression and desiring ways to find the joy and exuberance in our daily activities. By Sign, these Aries planets are contributing to the T-Square of the next two years as the Aries planets oppose Saturn in Libra and square Pluto in Capricorn. This Saturday has Mercury square Pluto. People may be asserting their ideas and affirming their opinions, some of which may be contrary to widely held beliefs and others possibly just off the wall rants. Conversations could ratchet up into arguments with the idea that the louder one speaks or shouts, the more convincing the person’s rationale. If people are feeling confronted by someone else, they may fall into the old pattern that a strong offense is a good defense. As the day progresses, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for close to five hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Taurus and before entering Gemini where the Moon sextiles the Sun, sextiles Mars and trines Saturn. No matter how explosive the day might have been, issues can be resolved and hard feelings smoothed over later in the day. It is important for us to note some of the characteristics and areas that come up during this T-Square since we shall be doing this T-Square dance at different intervals over the next two years.

Sunday, March 21st – Don’t Bring Me Down – Sun, Mars, Saturn, Mercury, Jupiter. Sunday has the paradox of the Mars trine and the T-Square Saturn opposition. Today the Sun trines Mars and opposes Saturn. The Gemini Moon sextiles Mercury and squares Jupiter. We may be feeling on top of the world but our world could collide with other worlds to hit us with a sucker punch. On one hand, we’re energized, ready to go, looking for fun times and wanting to enjoy re-creational pursuits. Where a problem arises is that we are not operating as an island unto ourselves. On the contrary, we could find ourselves engaged in a battle of wills with someone else. People from our past could crop up and force us to take a moment from our optimistic euphoria and look back over our shoulder to see where we have come from. We might not be particularly interested in doing a walk down Memory Lane but someone could press their demands or their needs on us and we might question whether we are being too self-absorbed and not considerate enough of the people in our lives. And thus, the tug-of-war begins and without much resolution or much fulfillment. We might feel our energy suddenly dropping like a deflated balloon, pulled in the direction of what we want to do and pushed by the demands or the guilt we embrace from other people. If we need to address past situations or the needs of other people, let’s do so without getting fully entangled. And let’s be sure we have some ‘me’ time to do what we want to do without feeling guilty that we’ve let someone down.

If we got carried away this past week and moved into la-la land where we were primarily concerned with our own self-interests and disregarded other people’s concerns, then this week could be payback time. Relationships may prove a little dicey. Everyone could be a little bit on edge. Let’s maintain diplomacy in our interactions with other people. We don’t have to go out of our way for other people but it is important that we consider their needs and their opinions.

Outstanding issues, old scores might need to be settled this week. We may even bump into people from our past or someone we haven’t seen in awhile. Although envy and resentment could raise their ugly heads this week, the more we can smooth things over, the less likely a severe breach might occur.

It would be wise for us to temper our passion and competitiveness. Let’s look to create win-win situations rather than seeking total victory at the loss or cost for other people. Otherwise, battle royals can start up and we could find that other people are trying to trip us up or put obstacles in our way.

Even if there are delays in moving our projects ahead, we can do what we can without feeling that we have to accomplish everything immediately. We should allow ourselves some time to give thought to future plans. Not only will such thoughts distract us from momentary frustrations but they will also allow us to see the bigger picture — our intended journey ahead.

Monday, March 8th – Manic Depressive Monday – Uranus, Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course, Venus, Saturn, Pluto. Monday starts the week on something of a frenetic note. The Sagittarius Moon squares Uranus and trines Neptune.
We might have a great deal going on in regard to our plans and our scheduling, but while we are confident and effective in our visualization of what we can achieve today, the actual accomplishments could fall short. Unexpected situations may distract us and we might far prefer to communicate with friends than deal with what needs to be done. Let’s not be surprised if we put our planned activities on hold as we seek more interesting diversions for ourselves. Similar to the volatility of these times, the energy shifts dramatically as the Moon goes Void-of-Course for six hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Sagittarius and before entering Capricorn where it creates a T-Square by squaring Venus in Aries, squaring Saturn in Libra and conjuncting Pluto in Capricorn. Suddenly, we might feel as if we were caught in a vise, an ever-tightening situation that demands we take care of our tasks at hand but with a critical eye from other people being cast our way. Outstanding issues may have to be addressed and we might pine, even whine, to get off the track and be freed from our responsibilities, those obligations that we just have to do with little appreciation forthcoming from other people. Whatever is going on in the second half of this day; we might as well get used to it and notate those areas of contention. For in the late Spring through mid Summer, we shall experience the T-Square of Saturn in Libra, Pluto in Capricorn and Uranus in Aries, a configuration we shall have to contend with over the next two years. Let the games begin, even if we do not like the game, the match or the rules. This latter part of Monday offers us a heads-up to the areas under stress and challenge over the next two years.

Tuesday, March 9th – Tying Up Loose Ends – Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, Mercury. Tuesday has Venus opposed Saturn and the Capricorn Moon sextile both Jupiter and Mercury. We have to be careful not to engage a tug-of-war with someone close to us. Our personal needs may conflict with another person’s desires. While we might be far more interested in doing our own thing, it would be wise not to tromp on other people’s toes. Otherwise, we could experience a monkey wrench thrower, someone upsetting our plans or placing unreasonable demands upon us. Social decorum and tai chi moves to step away from entangled situations are called for. We might find that we still have outstanding issues to resolve, matters we need to bring to completion. Even if it seems a drag to do so, let’s tie up loose ends, deal with our responsibilities and get things out of the way in order to proceed in new directions as we come into the Spring. Our intuitive sense could be strong and we might realize a best practices approach in resolving matters. It is important that we recognize people may be a little bit more needy than usual and no matter how much we do for them they might consider it not enough. And that’s where the tai chi moves come in. By being gracious and verbally accommodating, we can do what we can do without getting embroiled in the drama of it all. Let’s keep in mind the wise adage: “Give someone a fish and you feed them for a meal. Teach them to fish and you’ve fed them for a lifetime.” We can offer people advice and suggest a skill set but it would be co-dependent and a detriment to both if we were to try and fix their problems for them.

Wednesday, March 10th – Back on Track – Sun, Uranus, Mars direct. Can we get a shout out for Mars turning direct today? I would say. Mars has been retrograde since the latter part of December and we might have experienced the Mars retrograde cycle as contributing to our lethargy, our fatigue and our sense of having the wind knocked out of our sails. Mars turns direct today, but we do have to watch that we are not like a sprinter at the sound of the starting gun. We could turn up the energy into a turbothrust and like a tornado we could create a fair amount of damage. If we do feel a burst of energy, then let’s condition ourselves to picking up the speed. We could start slow and then build up towards what we want to do and where we want to go. We are likely to seek out creative projects for ourselves, activities that allow us to express ourselves and show our talents. The Capricorn Moon today sextiles the Sun and sextiles Uranus. We can be highly effective, especially if we’ll consider alternative means by which to accomplish our goals. We may feel as if we are back on the track, no longer scraping along the periphery but rather looking to embrace the whole enchilada. Let’s rein in our enthusiasm and blend our confidence with a strategic approach. We do not have to master the world. We can work with the natural unfolding and be co-creators of our destiny.

Thursday, March 11th – Straightening Out – Venus, Pluto, Mars, Saturn. Thursday has Venus hitting off the other part of the Cardinal Sign T-Square. On Tuesday, Venus opposed Saturn. Today, Venus squares Pluto. We also have the Moon in Aquarius opposed Mars, trine Saturn and sextile Venus. This Thursday could bring up issues with other people that have been percolating below the surface. If someone felt slighted or hurt by another person’s actions, today could be a day to hear about it. The action or reaction could either be a heart-to-heart talk to straighten things out or might prove a little explosive with someone letting loose with their frustrations and their hurt feelings. The former would be preferable, so it would be wise today for us to be cautious in how we present things to other people. If we don’t blurt out our feelings but take a less passionate, more dispassionate tone, then we can assuage any hurt feelings, make amends and get our relationships in better gear. It is important for us to keep in mind that we are at a seasonal transition point. We have one foot in Winter and the other foot reaching out for the Spring. All of us may be sick of the Winter doldrums, but we have to avoid rushing the river and trying to spring into action too soon or too quickly.

Friday, March 12th – Out of the Realm. Friday has no planetary energies fully operational today. The Moon continues its transit through Aquarius but makes no connections to the planets today. That might be a good thing, for the week has been, as life is now, rather volatile. We may have had our shares of ups and downs and might possibly need a breather or the ability to step off the track. This Friday is a good day for a ‘mental health’ day, to get together with friends or just take leisurely time to reflect on where we might want to go in the future. No stress, no strain today, but rather a tendency for us to take time, enjoy ourselves and look at our options.

Saturday, March 13th – Wrong Way Corrigan – Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course. Similar to Friday, Saturday does not have a great deal of energy associated with it. We start the day with the Aquarius Moon conjunct Neptune. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for close to six hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Aquarius and before entering Pisces. We may feel somewhat hazy today and we might not be operating at our sharpest or most astute. We could easily be drawn to things as a result of our moods and feelings and not based upon logic or clear reasoning. We have to be careful of decisions made or actions taken since we could operate from our hopes and our dreams rather than reality. Saturday may be better spent meandering through pastoral fields, thinking about what could be and allowing ourselves to space out.

Sunday, March 14th – Manifest Destiny – Sun, Mercury, Pluto, Jupiter. Although we are in the dark of the Moon to tomorrow’s power-packed Pisces New Moon, today we could feel as though we are drawn towards our destiny, living out our karma. This Sunday has the Sun conjunct Mercury and the Pisces Moon sextile Pluto and conjunct Jupiter. Our actions today might seem pre-destined, events and situations that we are supposed to do, not based upon our choice or free will but consequences of activities set into motion some time before. This Sunday can be a truly spiritual day and we are moving into a fortnight when things come about serendipitously, magically. We might feel that we are but observers to our life’s unfoldings and that we are pawns in some larger game determined beyond our choices, beyond our free will, beyond our conscious decisions or actions. Eery sensations perhaps, but today could also make us more aware that we are not the puppet master to the universe but rather co-creators as participants in the natural play.

Our emotions are heightened this week. We could go through sharp mood swings but we should avoid feeling victim to circumstance. Our empathy is strong and we are likely to feel the joy and the sorrow of those around us. We may be called upon to assist someone and even take on the role of counselor and advisor. Our spiritual nature is fully engaged. Let’s draw upon our faith and the power of prayer and our good intentions. Our intuition can be spot-on and we can devise a best practices approach to achieve our goals and help others achieve theirs.

Interesting connections made now seem fated, and we might fully realize that miracles can be everyday occurrences, as situations come out of the blue and surprising opportunities arise unexpectedly.

This is a week when our head can be in the clouds but it is essential to keep our feet firmly planted on the ground. It would be easy to get carried away by the wondrous occurrences we are likely to witness and experience. Let’s use them to our benefit by being pragmatic and working with the energies rather than just assuming that everything will go our way.

Things can fall easily into place if we will accept the role of co-creator and not believe that we either have to force things to happen or are merely reactive to the conditions around us. This is a week for us to be open to possibilities and open to receive, for magic is in the air, serendipity evident.

Monday, March 1st – Like a Tethered Falcon – Venus, Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars, Mercury Pisces. Monday could have us wanting to fly but feeling as though we are being held back by our responsibilities, the things we have to do. The day begins with the Virgo Moon opposed both Venus and Uranus in Pisces. Mercury exits Aquarius and enters Pisces reinforcing the Stellium of three or more planets in the Mutable Water Sign as Mercury joins the Sun, Venus, Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces. We may be doing a great deal of sighing today, wanting to accomplish much but feeling as though the pathway to hell is paved with good intentions. Our emotions are turned up severalfold and from recent world events we could have a sense that we’re at the end of the world as we know it…. And we are. The main thing during these transformational times is to embrace the words of the musical group R.E.M. and feel fine during these end times, which are truly not the end, merely a drastic shift from the way things have been. If we don’t get caught up in our sensibilities and our emotions, then we could actually use this day to brainstorm and devise a best practices approach that takes into account both the big picture and the slightest of details. We can be effective, but it would be important not to go pining, whining or feeling like we’re behind the eight ball, only reactive to situations beyond our control. Our compassion can be engaged and we may feel the pain of other people. If we go there, let’s be clear-headed and see how much those people with issues are wiling to do to pull themselves out of their self-inflicted muck and mire, their attitude and disposition regarding how they see things. The Moon goes Void-of-Course for almost seven hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Virgo and before entering Libra where it sextiles Mars. Even if we have been mooning around for much of the day, feeling sorry for ourselves or entangled in other people’s emotional dramas, the latter part of the day can find us with those special people who are appreciative of our talents, provide a good support system for our goals and help us see the sunny side of the street. Even if we feel tethered like a falcon to the wrist of real-life problems and unable to soar as high and as wide as we might like, the later part of the day allows us to enjoy recreational activities, engage in lively conversations and have a good time no matter who may be fiddling while the world burns. As Billy Joel would remind us: ‘We didn’t start the fire.’

Tuesday, March 2nd – Here We Go, Here We Go, Here We Go Again – Saturn, Pluto. If we didn’t catch a break yesterday, take some uptime to have fun and enjoy ourselves, then we might have lost a brief, healthy and enjoyable respite from the craziness of these times. Tuesday has us smacked down with the Saturn Pluto square as the Libra Moon conjuncts Saturn and squares Pluto. Even if we did enjoy some fun times last evening, Tuesday could be a little more somber. We may find that issues we thought once resolved spring up for us to deal with one more time. Let’s keep in mind that this time of year is the last remnants of the astrological year. In astrology, the new year begins with the Vernal Equinox, the beginning of Spring, now less than three weeks away. The more we can complete and bring to conclusion, the less baggage we are likely to be carrying that could impede our Springtime projects and new activities. People from our past could surface today and we might even find ourselves having to deal with other people’s problems. If we are asked to do so, let’s remember the wise aphorism that if we give someone a fish, then we feed them for a meal. But if we teach someone to fish, then we feed them for a lifetime. These times demand a US Marines-like basic training. Each of us is being asked to get real with our lives, strip away the superfluous and extraneous and focus on the truly meaningful, those involvements that serve a real purpose for us. Some people could be stuck in old patterns and the old ways of doing things and even expect us to comply with the so-called ‘tried and true’. Today is not a day to engage conversations that could ratchet into arguments. On the contrary, let’s maintain decorum, cut each other some slack and not take things said or done too personally. Things today could take longer than we like and we might find ourselves in various forms of red tape bureaucracy. We need to remember that there are times when we need to go back in order to move forward. This Tuesday could be one of those days for inventory taking, addressing obligations and getting things out of the way in order to have a fresh start at the appropriate time of new beginnings.

Wednesday, March 3rd – Magic – Venus, Uranus, Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars. To borrow the lyric from The Lovin’ Spoonful [hmmm, it does seem as though various songs are rattling through my mind as I write this week’s energy patterns]: ‘Do you believe in magic?’ Magic could be evident on this Wednesday. We might discover it with our interactions with other people. A sense of synchronicity, serendipity, being in the right place at the right time, could be right in front of us today. Venus conjuncts Uranus and we might become infatuated with someone or some thing that seems to highlight individuality, uniqueness and out of the ordinary. The Libra Moon trines Neptune and we might be seeing the possibilities and potentials in other people today. Characteristics we have not been aware of might allow us to see things in a different light. This is a day for relationships, bumping into people and seeing our friends with different qualities. We are not looking to cookie cut anyone. On the contrary, we are savoring the ‘different strokes for different folks’ to borrow from Sly and The Family Stone [yet another musical reference]. As the day progresses, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for just under five and a half hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Libra and before entering Scorpio where it squares Mars. Although we may have felt light and airy during the early part of the day, perhaps even assuming that nothing could go wrong and that things were going our way, the latter part of the day could have us fretting about our resources, whether time, energy or monies, or a combination of the three. We might find that we are being far more cost conscious, unwilling to rely upon our good luck, and looking instead at cutting back and seeing how we can be most resourceful with the least expenditure. While conservation of our resources is encouraged for these times, we also have to be wary of falling into self-abnegation, suppressing our creative impulses based upon concern for overload or taking on too much.

Thursday, March 4th – Getting it Done in the Most Expeditious Ways – Mercury, Pluto, Jupiter, Sun. Thursday is a primo day for us to brainstorm, budget, strategize and cut to the core. Even if we feel we are limited by what we have available to us, today is a day when we can be extremely resourceful. Mercury sextiles Pluto. Our intuitive sense can be spot-on, and we could find our mind to be laser-like with the ability of getting to the heart of any matter. We can also present our ideas in both a visionary and pragmatic manner. We can see the larger picture and the most effective ways of realizing our goals. Structuring our activities, making our plans and devising the means to achieve our goals might be easily done today. Contributing to the no nonsense, cut to the bone quality of this day is the Moon transiting Scorpio and today sextiling Pluto and trining Mercury, Jupiter and the Sun. We may feel we have a manifest destiny for our lives and that we are progressing in our journey without being enticed by diversions and distractions. A highly productive day this Thursday seems to be, and we can use the energies for inventory taking, getting rid of the non-productive and focusing on our top priorities. More can go on than meets the eye today, but we’re sharp, resourceful and able to penetrate any smokescreens to see what is really going on. Discussions can be important conversations that allow us to voice our ideas about restructuring our lives and to affirm our goals with some tweaking regarding how we achieve our greatest desires.

Friday, March 5th – Keeping it Real – Uranus, Neptune, Venus. Friday could have us being pushed and pulled in different directions. The Scorpio Moon today trines both Uranus and Venus and squares Neptune. While we may be looking at getting disentangled and freeing up our time, we could also be seduced by promises or potentialities that seem good, perhaps too good to be true. It would be wise to listen to our inner voice today and take anything anyone says with a grain of salt. As I often suggest to people, we need to check the source and check their agenda regarding anything being presented to us today. People may have their own agenda today so let’s maintain focus on our agenda — creating more free time for ourselves. We can use today’s energies to clear away a great deal of debris that no longer works for us. We can also be highly productive utilizing streamlined methods to easily deal with some of our responsibilities. What we do have to be careful about is filling up any free time with situations that might prove never-ending or a no-win scenario. Now is a time for us to cut through the garbage and focus on the most important. We do not need to be saddled with situations that would hold us back or keep us from advancing quickly ahead. Let’s be expeditious, work in spurts of energy today and look at playing the xylophone rather than concentrating on a one-note samba. We want to be freed up, not limited or restrained. We may have a high level of energy today, be fairly intense, so let’s not waste it on busy work, the superficial or other people’s emotional dramas.

Saturday, March 6th – Pedal to the Metal or a Case of Overdrive – Mars, Saturn, Mercury, Jupiter. Saturday gives us the Sagittarius Moon which trines Mars and sextiles Saturn. We are likely to be feeling like we’ve been pumped up with incredible energy, able to put our mark upon the world and interested in helping someone out. The Moon also squares Mercury and Jupiter today. While we may be feeling confident, optimistic and enthusiastic, we have to be careful not to go into overdrive, take on too much or be overly generous today. We might want to impress other people with our natural born talents and sparkling personality, but we should avoid excess today. But excess there can be. We could eat too much, talk too much, take on too much… Yes, the too muches could be in high gear today. This Saturday is a day for us to get off the track, get out of Dodge and widen our perspective, broaden our terrain. Travel could be great fun today. We may not be content being in our familiar locale, doing same old, same old. If we do not expand our horizons today, then the desire for expansion could be channeled into the too muches. It is far better for us to have places to go to and things to do rather than sitting back and sucking down beer after beer. Even if we cannot get out of Dodge today, we might consider formulating future travel plans. Whatever we do, let’s monitor our activity level and seek the middle path.

Sunday, March 7th – All About Me – Venus, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Sun, Venus Aries. Sunday has Venus moving out of Pisces and entering Aries, a Sign of its Detriment where Venus is not comfortable. As Venus enters Aries, it trines Mars in Leo. Mercury conjuncts Jupiter today and the Sagittarius Moon squares the Sun in Pisces. By Sign, we have a Grand Trine in the Fire Element, thanks to Venus in Aries, Mars in Leo and the Moon in Sagittarius. Even if we have been feeling lethargic, suffering the winter doldrums and wondering whether we shall ever regain our mojo, this Sunday gives us a good thrust into doing our thing, expressing ourselves and looking for what works for us. Even though we still have a Stellium of three or more planets in Pisces, we are becoming less interested in our emotional being and more interested in doing our thing. We do need to be careful not to step on other people’s toes. Our consideration of other people’s needs might take a back seat to what we want to do. We also have to avoid excess and indulgence today. Our mind may be like a smorgasbord and we might find ourselves discoursing on every facet of life. It could be a case of being not especially interested in our audience as much as enjoying hearing our own voice. Even if it seems self-absorbed or even selfish, this Sunday we might feel like blurting out: ‘I wanna talk about me.’ [one more, and final for this week, tangential music reference, this one to Toby Keith].

March is a tale of two seasons — the end of Winter and the advent of Spring. In astrological terms, this shift of seasons also ends one year and beckons a new astrological year. We start this month of March with a heavy emphasis upon the last Sign of the Zodiac, Pisces.

There could be a tendency at the beginning of March for us to tune out what is going on, far preferring the imaginative and the fantasies we can devise. Such escapism might be enjoyable or it could be a hellish nightmare. The way we see things is dependent upon our perspective, our attitude and our disposition. For many of us, we may have felt that we have gone through a winter of discontent and a winter that was not merely this passing season but rather a twenty month gulag since August of 2008 when our worlds began to turn upside down, turnings in and to our lives that have continued even to this present day. The energies of dramatic change, transformations and shapeshiftings continue on through this year, through next year and into 2012.

We start March with one planet in a Fire Sign, two planets in Earth Signs, three planets in Air Signs and four planets in a Water Sign. Two planets are in Cardinal Signs, three planets are in Fixed Signs and five planets are in Mutable Signs. Four planets are in Positive Signs and six planets are in Receptive Signs. There is a Stellium of three or more planets in Pisces with the Sun, Venus, Jupiter and Uranus transiting the Mutable Water Sign. The one planet in a Fire Sign is Mars retrograde in Leo. Mercury is conjunct Neptune by orb as we begin the month, with Mercury moving into Pisces on the 1st.

There is a great deal of emotion at the beginning of the month and we are still feeling the influence of the Virgo Full Moon on the 28th of February with the Moon in Virgo opposing by Sign the Stellium in Pisces.

Our imaginations can run rampant in early March. We may not have enough fire in our belly, lacking a sense of self-affirmation or self-assertiveness to offset the heavy emotional blanket we could feel dampening our spirits, lying heavy on our soul. We have to be cautious regarding anything we hear or say. Now is not a time to buy into first impressions, especially in light of the fact that judgments could easily be skewed by wondrous presentations and assertive proclamations. There may be increased concern about issues not resolved, and these can range from the details of our own lives to governmental matters and even the financial well-being of our global society.

While it may be important for us to suspend judgment before acting, we also need to exercise due diligence in anything we might engage or any decisions we choose to make. Things may not be as they appear. And the potential for wild swings of emotion, indicative of the volatility of these times, cannot be discounted and with a tendency towards continual displays of manic-depressive behavior.

We have lived on the earth plane in a world of duality, of positive and negative and a caroming between extremes. We have lived in coordinates of time space, where a sequential progression occurred and we expected a linear approach from beginning through middle to the end, all with understandable parameters through which life unfolded. Familiar and conditioned into this four dimensional world, it may be hard for us to let go and accept the reality that life is going through a major transitional phase, leaving behind the safety and security of time space and moving into the collapse of such coordinates into the NOW. For each one of us, we may feel as though we are living out the visions of Dickens’ Scrooge, whereby the ghosts of our past, our present and our future are all interacting for us in the here and now.

Although we might want to have control over situations, we might truly feel as though things are beyond our control, as if things were spinning out of control.

And what to do? We might ask ourselves. One of the most important characteristics of these times is to suspend judgment, let go of our opinions and adopt a disposition of flexibility and adaptability. We might also want to repeat, mantram-like, the affirmation that things work out for the best, no matter how we might perceive the situation or how we might want things to be.

With a heavy emphasis upon Pisces at the beginning of March, we can either embrace our spiritual nature, letting go of our egocentric perspective and engaging our soulful qualities. Or we might feel ourselves victim to the world, under assault and prey to the vagaries of change.

As in all of life, we always can exercise free will. We have the choice regarding how we choose to see things and how we choose to act in varied situations. And during these times, it is essential that we maintain awareness and mindfulness regarding the shifting sands and how we choose to interact with the backdrop of the larger world around us.

One of the beauties of these times is the increasing realization of synchronicity, serendipity, the magic and miracles whereby we sometimes find ourselves in the right place at the right time, with things developing for us that we may not have directly initiated.

This sense of magic and mini-miracles can be evident this month around the 3rd when the Venus conjunct Uranus could be concurrent with interesting contacts, unexpected connections. A sense of fated relationships could enter our lives, and we might find ourselves attracted to people who are marching to their own drummer, those people who are seeking to take the steps in their own individual journey through this life experience.

The mid-part of March could heighten the sense of things happening with little effort on our part. The Pisces New Moon on the 15th triggers a fascinating fortnight, which may seem Fellini-like, Daliesque surreal, and may force us to look at life through the prisms of a kaleidoscope. This New Moon on the 15th has a power pack in the latter part of Pisces with the Sun Moon conjunction also conjunct both Mercury and Uranus. As the New Moon imprints its signature upon the fortnight following, we may experience startling revelations, the ability to be increasingly resourceful and new technological advances in both communications and biotechnology. Change is in the air, and we might both experience changes to the world around us and also changes to how we choose to operate in our world, all the while looking to expedite our process, streamline our methods and be far more effective with less expenditure of energy.

We do have to be aware that during much of this month atmospheric storm systems can be severe with intense precipitation, lightning strikes and cyclonic winds. Flash floods are possible during stalled storm fronts with damage both from the precipitation and the winds.

We also have our square between Saturn and Pluto operational this month with this square being also triggered as a T-Square as the personal planets move into Aries, a prelude to the T-Square between Saturn, Pluto and Uranus when Uranus enters Aries briefly this late Spring through mid-Summer and before entering Aries next year for its seven year transit of the Cardinal Fire Sign.

In our personal lives and in the world at large, the question of whether we have built upon sand or built upon rock may be answered with more things falling apart, crashing and burning and other things being stripped down to their bare bones but solid in their essence, and then being rebuilt to be relevant to these upcoming times.

Despite the sense of serendipity, synchronicity and change in the air, we also have to be mindful and aware that we are being challenged and tested regarding our modus operandi, how we do things, the things we are doing and how we are doing our lives.

We might feel, at times, as though we are in the grip of an ever-tightening vise. Other times, we might feel as though we have slipped through the noose, freed from trying conditions and released from situations that no longer are productive for us.

Although there may be times when we might wonder whether we are coming or going, our perception can be strong, especially around the 4th when Mercury sextiles Pluto, when our laser-like ability to focus on the core issues and get to the heart of any matter can be heightened.

Our intuitive insight can be spot on during this March, especially the second half of the month under the influence of the Mercury Uranus conjunction at the time of the Pisces New Moon on the 15th. We shall have the opportunity of thinking outside the box. Answers can come easily, so long as we do not get fixed in our opinions, attached to our beliefs or prone to making judgments. The more we can be open to unanticipated variables that might significantly impact our choices and our decisions, the more we shall engage the multi-faceted factors which may influence the course of action and the more we can be productive in negotiating the twists and turns of these times.

As we move through the month, Winter gives way to Spring and the astrological year comes to a close. We enter the rebirth in nature, a renaissance within ourselves.

Mars turns direct on the 10th ending its retrograde cycle through Leo begun back in December of 2009. If we have felt somewhat lethargic with little energy, as though the wind has been knocked out of our sails, we can peg some of our fatigue and depleted energy to the Mars retrograde cycle. With Mars direct in Leo we can feel a great deal more forceful, more energetic and more interested in expressing our creativity.

During this March we also have the movement of personal planets into Aries, exiting Pisces to enter the Cardinal Fire Sign. Venus enters Aries on the 7th, followed by Mercury on the 17th and the Sun creating a Stellium of three or more planets in the Cardinal Fire Sign as the Sun enters Aries at the time of the Vernal Equinox, the advent of Spring.

We are looking at initiating our new projects and quite possibly doing so in ways that are not familiar as much as experimental. We want to do things differently, and we want to be able to be more effective with less expenditure of energy. We are also looking to make changes to our lives, to be more resourceful and less impacted by the volatility we witness and experience in the world at large.

But the movement of the personal planets into Aries also creates a T-Square as the Aries planets oppose Saturn and square Pluto. This T-Square will be something with which we, as individuals and as a society, will have to contend into 2012 as Saturn continues its transit of Libra [except for a brief return to Virgo this Spring into mid-Summer], Pluto transits Capricorn and Uranus transits Aries [briefly this late Spring through mid-Summer before fully entering Aries in 2011].

For those who assume that the worst of times are behind us, I hate to be the one who gives the lateral lobotomy or whack on the side of the head. But I would suggest that we have only seen the tip of the iceberg regarding the transformations and shapeshiftings likely to occur during this phase of paradigm shift. Therefore, I suggest keeping our eyes wide open, our ear to the railroad track and not wholly buying into the ‘feelgood’ scenarios spun by politicians, economists and other commentators who want us to believe that we are fully on the road to recovery.

March has often been a difficult time for the equity markets, as evidenced with last March of 2009, which saw a bottom to the US Stock markets. Corrections, downturns often occur during the March-April period. And this March offers unexpected situations that could dent the polished image of being on the road to recovery.

Needless to say, there is an array of liabilities about which investors need be concerned. The economic downturn and its effects upon various governmental agencies, corporations and the general populace may not have totally played out. The sovereign debt of various countries has been highlighted recently by Greece. But the acronym of PIIGS indicates there may be other countries in line for difficulty in servicing their debt — PIIGS = Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece, Spain.

The economic recovery touted in various media fails to highlight the impact of governmental stimulus programs some of which are scheduled to run out or the rebuilding of depleted inventories by business entities.

And I have suggested before the possibility that any US recovery might be a jobless recovery, a matter supported and well chronicled in the March 2010 issue of The Atlantic. Even more mind-boggling is a report in the January 16th issue of The Economist, which claims that the US has long failed at job creation:

“Only about 400,000 more Americans were employed in December
2009 than in December 1999, while the population grew by nearly
30m. This dismal rate of job creation raises the possibility that
America’s recovery may also be jobless. The economy almost
certainly expanded during the second half of 2009, but 800,000
additional jobs were lost all the same.”

With an economy whose GDP has been 70% consumer driven, the lack of employment raises various economic, social and political issues. No matter how things progress, the times they are a’changing.

Adverse weather conditions not only costs governmental agencies in addressing the weather impacts but also can lead to a diminishment in tax revenue as a result of lost business on those storm-crossed days. States, counties and municipalities continue to struggle with diminished revenue and increased costs. Cost cutting can assist the bottom-line on the short term but may have greater negative implications over the long-term.

Inflation seems tame with a possible greater concern for a Japan-style long cycle of deflation, but food costs and energy costs may tick up and create even greater compression on the disposable income of people, all the while that labor pay stagnates and underemployment increases.

I don’t want to be accused of being a ‘chicken little’, or a little chicken, but these times do call for continual vigilance and being alert for unexpected situations arising. These times may also demand that we no longer rely on old solutions to present problems. We may have to think outside the box, consider our options and alternatives, and embrace the concept that we can be co-creators of our destiny but must lose the belief that we can be in total control of all facets of our lives. Things happen and it will be important that we be aware, vigilant and mindful; that we be flexible and adaptable; that we be nimble and quick; and that we let go of our judgments and opinions and be open to the magic of it all.

March may roar in as a lion and could roar out as a ram…

We may start the week making all sorts of plans with friends and associates. We’re feeling energized, able to juggle all kinds of things and ready to deal with anything and everything. A nice concept, but it is important that we allow ourselves to change plans if circumstances warrant. Remember that we are living during volatile times, times when things can shift dramatically and radically with hardly a moment’s notice.

Mid-week may find us wanting to spend time at home, feathering our nest and enjoying the sanctity of home and hearth. Family matters may grab our attention, and some plans made for the week may have to be put on the back burner in order to focus on situations closer to home. We can provide great comfort and solace to other people, and someone could be very grateful for our emotional support. Let’s bask in the love and appreciation showered on us.

The latter part of the week sees us at the top of our game. Our presentations are creative, dramatic and show an interest in other people’s viewpoints. Now is a good time for us to win agreement and assistance from other people. We make a good case and provide a well-structured approach both with the big picture and the small details.

Over the weekend, we might choose to enjoy some fun activities but it would be also be suggested that we take time for a good winter cleaning, clearing away debris of the past, tying up loose ends and focusing on a good health regimen.

Monday, February 22nd – Too Much of a Good Thing – Jupiter, Venus. Monday starts the week with us in high drive. Not only is it the 22nd of the month, a day numerologically representative of the Master Builder and a day to lay down foundation stones. But this day has the Gemini Moon square the two ‘good guys’ of the planetary realm, Jupiter and Venus. We may be humming the Stevie Wonder song ‘Nothing’s too good for my baby’. We’re feeling good, generous, optimistic and looking to share our ‘feelgood’ attitude with all and sundry. We may not be too discerning and that’s where our problem lies. Either we could assume that everything will work out for the best no matter the lack of our due diligence. Or we could feel that we can buy our way into acceptance, approval and the graces of those we wish to impress. The tendency for indulgence and excess is strong today. We could be somewhat careless, gloss over specifics and make assumptions based upon the way we want things to occur. Today is certainly a day to rein in our enthusiasms. People could be promising the moon, make assertions that have no basis in fact and spin an interesting tale that is far more fictional than factual. Let’s enjoy any enthusiastic feelings but let’s also be wary of buying into images and impressions. With Jupiter and Venus both in Pisces and our strong emphasis upon the Mutable Water Sign with Venus, Jupiter, the Sun and Uranus all in Pisces, our moods, emotions and imaginations can be heightened and even aggravated to the point of launching us into a world of make-believe. We could have some wild mood swings today, an exaggerated case of being manic-depressive, at one moment thinking the world is our oyster, the next moment assuming the worst. We need to maintain a sense of self-discipline today. Otherwise, we could be all over the place, skinning our knees, creating problems for ourselves, and spending more than we might like. Today could prove a whirlwind, so let’s avoid getting caught up in the maelstrom of emotions or possibilities.

Tuesday, February 23rd – Reformulating, Rethinking, and Sorting Things Out – Sun, Pluto, Mercury, Uranus, Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course, Saturn. After yesterday’s whirlwind of activity or mental jumble gym, Tuesday allows us to get our feet back on the ground, reconsider what we’re doing, how we’re doing it and why we’re doing it. If yesterday presented a flurry of activity, ideas and possibilities, today allows us to sift through the mélange, strip away the excesses, focus on the essentials and consider the best practices approach by which to realize our priorities. The Pisces Sun sextiles Pluto in Capricorn. The day begins with the Gemini Moon trine Mercury, square Uranus and trine Neptune. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost six hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Gemini and before entering Cancer where it squares Saturn. Our intuitive sense can be strong and we can consider our prospects in a clearer and more detached manner. Our filtration process is likely to emphasize the fundamentals and the meaningful and could temper our desires for what we want and the way we want it. We are far more clear-headed today. We do have to take into account certain unexpected situations or surprises that could defer or alter our plans. But if we can be adaptable, consider the most streamlined methodology and recognize that our plans and our ways of implementing them may shift and change as we go along, then we can continually evaluate and make necessary adjustments as unexpected variables warrant. Later in the day, we might want to enjoy the comforts of our own space. We might have to deal with someone who is having a hard time or unable to see options for themselves. Just as we have been clearer in our thoughts for ourselves earlier in the day, we can help other people later in the day see what their true options and alternatives might be. What we need to avoid is getting entangled in other people’s issues and trying to fix or take care of their responsibilities.

Wednesday, February 24th – The Comforts of Home – Pluto, Sun, Jupiter, Venus. Wednesday continues with the Moon in Cancer, which today opposes Pluto and trines the Sun, Jupiter and Venus. Although today is often considered hump day, falling as it does in the middle of the workweek; this Wednesday we might want to put some of our responsibilities on the back burner and enjoy the comforts of home. We may feel as if our home provides a good base of operations and the more we can do from our home the less likely we are to get involved with the craziness of the outside world or the demands placed upon our time by other people. Creating our own sanctuary, allowing ourselves to soothe our emotions and taking time to luxuriate in our personal world could be far more preferable than dealing with the real world. We might spend time with friends and family and keep close to the hearth. We are looking for nurture and willing to comfort others just so long as it doesn’t place any heavy demands upon us. Our spiritual nature can be heightened, our compassion engaged and we could easily find ourselves getting involved in ways by which to better the world. Let’s keep in mind that like a pebble in the pond, the better we take care of ourselves, the ripples across the pond help us to take better care of other people. We do need to avoid co-dependency or a desire to fix other people’s problems.

Thursday, February 25th – Making Changes, Expressing Ourselves – Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars. Thursday begins with the Moon in Cancer trine Uranus. Whatever our plans might be for the day, we do not want to be limited or restricted by our scheduled activities. We’re looking at making changes, freeing ourselves up from responsibilities that are too demanding or overwhelming. We want to be free to do what we want when we want to. We may look at streamlining our operations and even postponing certain scheduled appointments in order to do things on a whim, be spontaneous and act in the moment. As the day progresses, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for over seven hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Cancer and before entering Leo where it conjuncts Mars. The energy dies down for a while. While we can make changes to our day’s schedule early in the day, some of the changes might not fully manifest until later in the day when we get a second wind and are looking to creative outlets by which to express ourselves or find a fun event to engage. We want to be free. We want to express ‘me’. And this Thursday is a good day to experiment, test the waters and find avenues by which to imprint our personal style.

Friday, February 26th – Connections with Other People – Saturn. Friday has the Leo Moon sextile Saturn. If we need to make a presentation or impress other people, this Friday is a good day to do so. While we are feeling energetic and self-possessed, we also have the ability of relating to other people’s interests and their needs. We may be focused on our own goals and ambitions but we’re not oblivious to our audience. On the contrary, we are receptive to the interests and needs of those people with whom we wish to share our goals. Get together with those special people in your life. We might be looking for entertainment, having a good time but we’d prefer to share it with someone rather than going it alone. Heart-to-heart talks can be good discourses and allow each conversant to say how they feel and why they feel what they feel. There can be a greater solidity in our relationships, for we can see how our lives are better by the people who touch our lives.

Saturday, February 27th – What is Going on? – Mercury, Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course. Confusion could be the name of the game today. Mercury conjuncts Neptune and the Leo Moon opposes both Neptune and Mercury before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for over four and a half hours as it finishes its transit of Leo without making any further connections to the planets before entering Virgo later in the day. This Saturday could seem like a skit from the old Abbott and Costello routine of ‘Who’s on first, What’s on second, I Don’t Know’s on third’. We may feel as though we are intuitive and have a handle on what is going on, but we have to be careful that we don’t get too enamored with our sensations and intuitive feelings and totally miss the true reality of today. We could be a little spacey today, and it would be wise to both suspend judgment and avoid significant decisions until we’re clearer and less self-absorbed. Whatever we hear today, let’s take everything we hear and see with a grain of salt. Things may be presented one way, but it would be wise to exercise due diligence, read between the lines and pull back the curtain on the Wizard of Oz screen. We might easily become enamored with the trickster, by the image, and by the appearance, all of which may be a wonderful presentation but much of which may have no factual basis in reality. If we are driving or traveling, let’s be clear regarding our itinerary and have a back-up plan in case things don’t go according to schedule.

Sunday, February 28th – Feeling Good While Looking Through Rose-Colored Glasses – Sun, Jupiter, Virgo Full Moon, Pluto. Sunday could have us all singing constant refrains of: ‘Happy Days Are Here Again’. This Sunday has the Sun conjunct Jupiter and the Virgo Full Moon with the Moon in Virgo opposed both the Sun and Jupiter and the Moon trine Pluto. This Sunday could be one of wild extremes — feeling like we’re on the top of the world, other times feeling like the world is crashing down on top of us. Whichever extreme we choose to go to, and we might carom back and forth between the two, I would suggest that we take our time, deliberate and not come to any conclusions regarding what is going on. Singing ‘happy days are here again’ can be a wonderful mantram, emphasizing our positive attitude, but it could prove a nasty and ironic ditty if we’re in the parade of lemmings racing towards the cliffs. Let’s keep in mind that we have been prey to glorious illusions the past two weeks since the New Moon back on the 13th when we had the Sun Moon conjunction also conjunct Neptune. This Sunday with the Full Moon brings to a crescendo the question as to whether we have been in true reality or whether we have been in virtual space, or a spaciness that looks only at what we want to see rather than what might truly be. This Sunday can be a day of excess and indulgence with a tendency to skip over significant factors and neglect important details. We could also find that with any atmospheric storm systems, the precipitation is heavy and intense. This weekend emphasizes the Neptunian qualities of fantasies and possible illusions. Let’s not get trapped into the what could be’s without considering the parameters, conditions and circumstances in which we find ourselves.

A large part of this week could be catching up with old friends, enjoying fun events and allowing ourselves some small indulgences. We may feel dreamy and moody and not the least bit interested in the real world or our personal responsibilities. We could be more taken by the fantasy world and we might offer our imaginations free rein to engage in emotional extremes. We can be up, down and spinning all around. A sense of groundedness may be lacking so it is important we be careful with what we get involved.

Spirit in action could have us engaging in social causes, seeking to aid and comfort those less fortunate. It would be wise to be discerning regarding whom we help and how we help. Otherwise, we could be a sponge for other people’s problems, soaking up their misery without any truly effective action to remedy the problem.

Although this week may not be the most successful for accomplishing our tasks and realizing our goals, it is a good time to allow our minds to wander and consider a wide range of possibilities. This is a week to trust our intuition and recognize that we may have an inner knowing which can be spot on.

The end of the week and the weekend may have us dealing with errands and routine matters we might have neglected earlier in the week. We could end the week by making our ‘to do’ list and checking it twice to be certain that we are prepared to be more productive in the coming week.

Monday, February 15th – Engaging in Depth – Venus, Pluto, Mars, Saturn. Monday is a pleasant day to start off this week. With the Pisces Moon and the strong influence of Neptune thanks to Saturday-Sunday’s New Moon with the Sun, Moon, Neptune conjunction we could be a little spacey but certainly not shallow. Venus sextiles Pluto and Mars sextiles Saturn today. We’re looking at scratching below the surface and getting to the heart of all matters. Our relationships can be close to idyllic, although we have to be wary that we are not solely focused on the superlative qualities of other people and neglecting their flaws or potential frailties. We may feel driven, wanting to put our mark on situations, desirous of plumbing the depths of our interactions with other people. If we would be discerning regarding our investigative tendencies today, then we could get to the essence of those important people in our lives. We’re looking for support systems, those people with whom we can let down our hair and reveal the totality of ourselves. Even those who are commitment-phobes may finally get off square one and look to make their relationships more solid. Today is a wonderful day for those heart-to-heart talks and for finding avenues in which to express our creativity and the depths of our being.

Tuesday, February 16th – Slight Indulgences – Venus, Jupiter, Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course. We have all heard the idea of too much of a good thing, and this Tuesday could certainly bring that sentiment home. The two good guys of the zodiac, Venus and Jupiter, are conjunct today. They are both in Pisces and the day begins with the Pisces Moon conjunct Uranus. This Tuesday is one of those days when we don’t feel pressured to accomplish, to compete, but looking to luxuriate and embrace our personal best, especially if that best includes the best chocolate, the best savories, the best wine, the best of times. Yes, Tuesday could allow for indulgence and perhaps not slight indulgences as much as indulging the whole enchilada. Excess is a strong liability and, once engaged, there could be no stopping us until we roll over on our backside stuffed to the gills, fall down from drink, or just get to a point where we just can’t do anything anymore. Our tendency today is to do our own thing, not feel restricted by our obligations or responsibilities, and focus instead on bacchanalian revelries. We do have to avoid being overly generous today or making decisions that would seem ill-advised once we regain an element of clear-headedness. Such clarity is unlikely today, for we may be far more interested in what we want rather than the costs involved or the consequences of our actions. As the day progresses, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for almost ten hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Pisces and before entering Aries. Our motto for the day may in deed be ‘let’s live for today’, but the aftereffects could linger on unless we can maintain self-discipline and hew to the line of moderation in all things.

Wednesday, February 17th – Come Hell or High Water – Mars, Mercury, Lunar T-Square, Saturn, Pluto. Wednesday could be one of those paradoxical days, for we have two conflicting energy patterns today. We have the Aries Moon trine Mars and sextile Mercury, but we also have the Aries Moon creating a T-Square with our nemesis of the Saturn Pluto square as the Moon opposes Saturn and squares Pluto. We may be gung-ho looking to initiate our projects and focused on our own personal self-interests. Even though we may feel as if we could move mountains, we might find that there are significant boulders and other impediments in our way. We can certainly present our plans and proposals in a compelling and passionate manner, but the question as to whether our audience is receptive, or even listening to what we have to say, might be the key to our gaining approval for our intentions. It is important that we keep in mind that many things, even the most established and apparently solid situations, are tentative and liable to come crashing down around us. Some people may be operating out of fear and consequently catatonic whereby they are unwilling to make any move in any direction. Such a disposition on their part could be a dampener to our plans. The best use of today’s energy is neither to rush headlong forward with the concept of making things happen come hell or high water nor to be totally blocked by old patterns or outstanding matters, but rather to find the fine line, the tempering process, between moving aggressively ahead and feeling frustrated or defeated by delays and other people’s unwillingness to blithely accept our plans. The beauty of this day is the opportunity of constantly evaluating and re-evaluating the conditions and circumstances as we progress along. By so doing, we have the ability to continually fine tune our methodology and eventually come up with a best practices approach that is effective and speaks directly to the ever-changing parameters.

Thursday, February 18th – Make Believe – Neptune, Sun Pisces. Thursday is one of those days that could have us traipsing through la-la land, a magical world of make believe where our ideas and concepts are reality but may have no true connection with what is actually going on. Thursday has the Aries Moon sextile Neptune and the Sun exiting Aquarius to enter Pisces. The Neptunian energies are highlighted as the Sun’s entrance into Pisces reinforces the Pisces Stellium of three or more planets in the Mutable Water Sign as the Sun joins Jupiter, Venus and Uranus in Neptune-ruled Pisces. During these times of increased volatility, it is far easier for us to cope by creating our own sanctuary, by devising our make believe world of what could be. A lovely concept it is to live in our own magical world, but in the duality of nature there is always the flip side. In this case, our heightened imagination can either soar into the idyllic and limitless possibilities or plummet to depths of despair, the sense of victimization and nightmarish panic attacks. Our choice — our perspective, our attitudes and our dispositions are always our choice. This day is a good day for us to allow our minds to wander but with reins on the topics or subjects we wish to consider. This Thursday could be a wonderful day to contemplate our possibilities, to seek out a sense of serenity and appreciation for the wonder-filled potentialities in which we live. Our lives may be changing dramatically, but we can always look for the silver lining to any of the dark storm clouds. Our spirituality and our sense of connection to something beyond our mundane realities can be enhanced now. We gotta believe in the realization that the universe and the natural unfolding, no matter how chaotic it might seem at times, have a better plan for us than anything we could ever imagine for ourselves.

Friday, February 19th – Persistence, Passion, Determination – Sun, Mars, Pluto, Jupiter. Friday has the Moon moving from Aries and entering Taurus where the Moon sextiles the Sun, squares Mars, trines Pluto and sextiles Jupiter. This Friday is a day when we can accomplish a great deal. If we are not overly ego-driven and want things only the way we want them and feel we need them, then we could achieve quite a bit. Harnessing our passion and our drive today could have us taking things step by step but also highly effective and most productive in all of our dealings. Today is a good day for us to consider how best to present ourselves — whether that includes a personal makeover, purchases to increase the sanctuary of our living and work spaces, or addressing outstanding debts or unresolved matters. Let’s keep in mind that we are moving towards the end of the Winter season, also the end of the astrological year. Consequently, the more we can address any situations that need to be completed or concluded, now is a good time to do so in order that we have a clean slate and not be bogged down by old situations as we enter the Spring season next month, the new astrological year, and a time of new beginnings, the renaissance of our lives. By means of persistence, passion and determination today we can focus on a best practices approach to get things done and to tie up loose ends, all the while that we are considering where we want to go in the year ahead.

Saturday, February 20th – Cautious Overtures – Venus, Mercury. Saturday continues with the Taurus Moon, which today sextiles Venus and squares Mercury. Our interactions with other people today can be pleasant as long as we are willing to see where they are coming from. If we will check the source and check their agenda, than we could enjoy times spent together with friends and family. We may be feeling very empathic today, willing to go out of our way for someone. While we can help other people, it is also important that we not go overboard and try to do too much. We might want to go shopping and find the right accessory or accoutrement that will brighten our home. Our purchases can be tasteful and could provide a sense of satisfaction as we find the right thing at the right price. We do have to be certain that we are on the same page as other people. If we can look at win-win situations, then we can avoid a tug of war between our own personal desires and the wishes of others. People could be a little fixed, somewhat rigid and focused on the way things should be. Let’s keep in mind that the key characteristics called for in these times are flexibility and adaptability. We may want things a certain way but if we get stuck in that mindset not only could we become frustrated but we might also close ourselves off to greater opportunities. Today is a day to step forward gracefully with a willingness to shift plans if conditions warrant.

Sunday, February 21st – Miscues, Missteps – Uranus, Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars, Sun, Saturn. The day begins with the Moon in Taurus and sextile Uranus and square Neptune. We might start the day a little out of sorts, especially if we have scheduled plans that upon awakening we just might not want to deal with. An element of back and forth could begin this Sunday. Someone could get on our nerves, or us on theirs, but we do have to watch for emotional tantrums and a tendency to do whatever we damn well please without consideration of how our intentions could impact other people. While the day might begin with us spinning our wheels or just putting on the brakes, the latter part of the day does seem more enjoyable. After the early part of the day, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for six and a half hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes it’s transit of Taurus and before entering Gemini where it sextiles Mars, squares the Sun and trines Saturn. The early part of the day might be better spent canceling our early day plans, doing whatever we want to do, from reading the paper over a long cup of coffee or tea to just doing something out of the ordinary. Later in the day, we might feel as though we had gained a second wind. Pleasurable activities, enjoyable events could grab our attention and we might seek out someone with whom to catch a movie, take in a show or just get together for long and fun discourses on the ways of the world.

We may be more interested in making plans and considering future possibilities at the beginning of the week than in dealing with what is right in front of us and with our responsibilities. A ‘mental health’ day could be in order but postponements of routine obligations need to be brief respites. Otherwise, we might find someone reading us the riot act and coming down hard on us for perceived failings on our part.

This is a week to take things with a grain of salt. Not everyone is likely to be feeling upbeat and devil-may-care. Comparing prospects with routine matters is an important function now, for we may be preparing ourselves to start new projects and engage in new activities. It would be wise for us to tie up loose ends this week, for we don’t need our new interests to be hindered by outstanding issues.

The latter part of the week can see our idealism and compassion heightened. Both are great qualities but it would be important for us not to get entangled in other people’s issues. Some people are so attached to their emotional dramas that they become a bottomless pit where no matter how much we do they expect us to do more. Let’s not go there.

The weekend has the beginning of the Chinese New Year of the Tiger and also Valentine’s Day. Now is a time for us to channel our energies into starting something new and touching base with those special people in our lives. We can go for the gold of some project that truly appeals to us and sprinkle our love on those around us.

Monday, February 8th – The Beauty of it All – Venus, Neptune, Sun, Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course. Monday can have us feeling like we’re walking on clouds. Venus conjuncts Neptune in Aquarius and the Sagittarius Moon sextiles the Sun, Neptune and Venus, all in Aquarius. Our thoughts may focus on the good, the beautiful and the idyllic. What a lovely day this could be. We may enjoy our interactions with other people, sharing laughter and stories and offering each other encouraging words regarding our individual plans, hopes and wishes. Nothing seems amiss, at least as long as we’re walking on the sunny side of the street, or in the clouds, and without concern about mundane matters. Yes, this Monday is not a blue Monday unless we’re dealing with chronic depression. We can see the bright things in life and paint a rosy picture, especially in regard to our relationships. We might only see the perfect beauty of our loved one[s]. That’s certainly not a bad thing, but it would also be wise to be cautious regarding decision-making today. The Sagittarius Moon also squares Uranus and we might negate certain variables that could arise unexpectedly. We could have on our rose-colored glasses, see things from our blissed-out perspective, and consequently avoid any issues that could paint the situation in darker colors. Due diligence might be lacking today, so it would be far better for us to enjoy the day, use it as a ‘mental health’ day and not take important actions or make significant decisions. Everything is beautiful in its own way today. En joy. As the day progresses, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for close to eighteen hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Sagittarius. We may stay on our mental Mount Olympus cavorting with the gods and goddesses for a time without accomplishing much more than nurturing and replenishing ourselves.

Tuesday, February 9th – Double Time – Saturn, Pluto, Jupiter. There is a clichéd saying that states the higher we climb, the harder the fall. Not that we have to take a fall on this Tuesday, but it does seem as though early in the day some of our wondrous balloons of yesterday could be popped. Tuesday has the Moon in Capricorn, which today squares Saturn and conjuncts Pluto, reinforcing our present nemesis of the Saturn Pluto square. After walking in sunshine or on the tops of fluffy clouds yesterday, we may come down to earth with a sharp bump. Our tasks and obligations could catch up with us today. We might have to address issues we thought once resolved and contend with outstanding matters. Tuesday allows a wake-up call whereby we see our resources more limited than we had imagined yesterday. While Monday might have had us pleasantly meandering through the day, Tuesday could have us stepping up the pace and dealing with more than we planned for. We might have to go double time today, but it is also a day when we can sort through our affairs and prioritize the truly important, all the while discarding the non-essential and superfluous. While we start the day with the Saturn Pluto square, we get a breather as the day goes on. The Moon sextiles Jupiter and we could feel greater passion for what we are doing and receive appreciation for good deeds that we have done. Although Saturn is considered the ‘watcher on the threshold’ and asks that we learn through dogged experience with Pluto cutting to the core and ridding us of the extraneous, the Saturn Pluto square has its purpose during these transformational times. We have the opportunity of looking back at the past, doing an inventory taking and concentrating on the meaningful, getting rid of the useless and restructuring the format of our lives. Getting weight off of our shoulders then allows us to focus on the truly meaningful and get on with the true purpose of our lives.

Wednesday, February 10th – Taking Care of Business – Mercury Aquarius. The first two days of this week could have seemed like a real whipsaw, somewhat akin to the idea of from the sublime to the ridiculous. Monday may have had us feeling at the peak of our feeling good about ourselves, while Tuesday possibly could have brought us down on our knees. Wednesday does not have a great deal of energy configurations. The Moon continues in Capricorn but makes no connections to the planets. The primary energy shift today has Mercury exiting Capricorn to enter Aquarius where it reinforces the Aquarius Stellium by joining the Sun, Neptune and Venus in the Fixed Air Sign. Our thoughts may turn to the future but we are also considering a best practices approach regarding how to get there. This Wednesday we can take care of what needs to be done, yet look up now and again from our daily routine to see the horizon of future possibilities, our goals and our ambitions. Wednesday is a day to keep in mind the image of the suspension bridge. By creating the slats and ingredients of our future, we can create a bridge that takes us from our past into our future. Before the bridge is completed and before we can cut the ties to our past, we have to go back and deal with our present responsibilities, tie up loose ends to complete certain matters but still develop new interests and consider new possibilities for future endeavors. This Wednesday allows us to take care of business and to consider our future possibilities. Time spent chatting up friends and mentors would provide solid sounding boards for some of our concepts, some of our notions.

Thursday, February 11th – Re-Working, Re-Thinking –Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury, Venus Pisces. Thursday begins with the Capricorn Moon sextile Uranus. Today is one of those days when we can shift things around, make things work more easily by expediting and streamlining, and can accomplish more in shorter periods of time than it would normally take us. We can get a great deal done in the early morning hours. We might have to change our plans but, if so, let’s see it as an exercise in flexibility and adaptability. We could blend old formats with new techniques. This is one of those days when we can work smarter rather than harder. As the day progresses, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for close to eleven hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Capricorn and before moving into Aquarius where it conjuncts Mercury. From having our nose to the grindstone or on the button of our technological tools to be highly productive early in the day, we can use the evening hours for some fun get-togethers with friends and loved ones. Thursday also has Venus moving out Aquarius and moving into Pisces where it creates a Stellium in the Mutable Water Sign as Venus joins Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces. With Mercury having moved into Aquarius yesterday, we do not lose the Aquarian Stellium as Venus exits but now have Mercury, the Sun and Neptune in the Fixed Air Sign. Our passion is engaged and we are far more connected to the big picture of our lives rather than focused on the intricate mundane details and specifics. Our sensitivity is turned up and we might feel ourselves focusing on where we want to go more than where we are.

Friday, February 12th – For the Good of Others – Mercury, Saturn, Mars. Friday has Mercury trine Saturn and the Aquarius Moon trine Saturn and opposed Mars. Our interactions with other people can be strong today. We can negotiate and come to terms with any matters that have been unresolved with other people. Our discussions can be serious but also take into account other people’s interests and needs. This Friday is a good day to brainstorm plans and strategies and especially with an emphasis upon cooperative team work. A problem could arise if people are too egocentric, looking out for what is best for them without taking into account what is best for the greater good and for other people involved. We are at the dark side of the Moon, so today may be better for discussions and thrashing ideas out rather than implementing actions. Nonetheless, this Friday can be highly effective in evaluating and determining best-case scenarios for win-win solutions.

Saturday, February 13th – Eye of the Tiger – Mercury, Mars, Aquarius Lunation, Sun, Neptune. Saturday has Mercury opposed Mars, the Aquarius New Moon with the Moon conjunct the Sun and Neptune, and the beginning of the Chinese New Year, the year of the metal tiger. With this lunation, there are seven planets in the two universal Signs of Aquarius and Pisces. While we may be interested in how we fit into the cosmic connection, our place in the bigger picture of the world around us; it is important for us to maintain a balance between our own personal needs and the needs of other people or the collective society. We are entering a Chinese new year that can be as adroit and astute as the tiger, evaluating and taking note before pouncing on its prey. A sense of aggression and self-assertiveness can be strong but there can also be the tendency to prove our love and worth to others by dogged persistence and hard work. As New Moons are good times to focus our intentions and to write down our goals for the fortnight ahead, and in this case the year ahead, it would be wise for us to give considerable contemplation today regarding where we want to go, with whom we want to go, and the most competent means to get there, all the while that we are being completely honest and coming from the strength of our integrity. Today is a good day for celebration, a day to be thankful for what we have and a day to engage our hoped-for desires. This Saturday would be well spent with friends and loved ones, enjoying each other’s company and also incorporating some thing new and different as an addition to our lives, even if only a brief taste of something out of our ordinary habits and patterns. We may feel a calling, even a sense of our own individual manifest destiny. Let’s keep in mind that none of us are islands unto ourselves but like a pebble in a pond our thoughts, actions and character have ripple effects.

Sunday, February 14th – Love One Another – Sun, Neptune, Venus, Pluto, Jupiter. Yesterday’s New Moon, which impacts the next two weeks, is heightened on this Sunday. It is Valentine’s Day, a day in which we can fully express our love, appreciation and regard for those special people in our lives. The Sun conjuncts Neptune today and the Moon’s move into Pisces has the Moon conjunct both Venus and Jupiter and sextile Pluto. Our compassion, emotions and love can all be strongly percolating today. We may seek to put our spirit into action and one way to do so, apart from flowers and our expressing of loving sentiments, are those random acts of kindness that like seeds in the fields gestate, germinate and eventually flower. This Sunday can be a special day. Whether we are with that special person or those special people in our lives today or not, we can spread a little love and in deed love one another.

We start the week focused on what needs to be done and how we can do it most effectively. While we might be looking at specifics and details, let’s not lose sight of the big picture, what our intended plans are. Unexpected situations could arise that force us to change our schedule or shift the ways that we are going about things. It is important we be flexible and adaptable to changing conditions. It would be wise to take our time to evaluate as we go along since we could come up with a startling insight and develop a best practices approach.

Interactions with other people could be a little dicey this week. We need to watch out for someone who might be an obstacle to our goals. Let’s keep aware of people’s intentions and their agenda as someone might try and trip us up. Even if there are issues with other people, things can be smoothed over if we are strategic and making nice.

The latter part of the week is a good time to cut back on our involvements and activities. We might consider a good house cleaning of those matters that are just a waste of our time. Let’s concentrate on the truly important and let go of the irrelevant. We want to make room for new and innovative projects that are far more fulfilling to us.

The weekend can be especially pleasant with enjoyable get-togethers. We need to avoid indulgence. Some people may go to excess, but nonetheless there could be some fun social occasions.

Monday, February 1st – Tweaking the Changes – Mercury, Uranus. No matter what is going on in the world at large or the world around us, we all know that things are changing, dramatically and rapidly. The old program and the old ways of doing things just are not going to work for us anymore, no matter how much we might try to reinforce old patterns. Monday is the beginning of February and we are coming off of yesterday’s Saturn Pluto exact square, an energy configuration impacting our world through the next year. The dramatic changes of these times demand that we be astute and aware of how best to cope and adapt to the shifts going on. Today the Virgo Moon trines Mercury and opposes Uranus. We might assume that by due diligence we can deal with the circumstances and conditions as they present themselves. In deed we can, but only if we realize that things are ever changing and as long as we do not assume that the parameters we see are the same parameters that will be operating as we progress. We have moved into a time when we have to be nimble and quick in order to deal with what is going on. This Monday allows us to consider the details and specifics of situations and develop a best practices approach, all the while that we realize that the way things are one moment can change dramatically and unexpectedly the next moment. We may have to alter our plans due to unanticipated variables that arise today. If we would be flexible, then today is a good day for us to brainstorm, strategize and consider our options under ever-shifting circumstances. We can come up with streamlined methods to accomplish our goals and can make necessary adjustments along the way. Today is a good day to go over our ‘to do’ list, prioritize and see how we can most expeditiously accomplish our tasks while still allowing ourselves some space to address situations that might arise which we have not accounted for. We may have to stretch today but we do not have to snap.

Tuesday, February 2nd – Whacks on the Side of the Head – Saturn, Pluto, Mars. Tuesday has the Moon entering Libra where it conjuncts Saturn, squares Pluto and sextiles Mars. If we haven’t addressed outstanding issues, dealt with matters concerning other people or done an inventory-taking of that which is associated with our past and that which is part of our future, Tuesday may ask us to stop, go back and contend with old situations. While all of us may be wanting to move forward and even jump ahead, we have to be certain that we have cleared the tracks from things that could derail us. We are all in a process of dramatic change, transformation and shapeshifting. Old ways may no longer work and we might find that we have to jettison even some of our most cherished beliefs and involvements. If we are making significant changes in our lives, we could also experience those naysayers who want to stop us, keep us from moving into new directions and who demand we be the way we’ve been. Our interactions with other people could be somewhat dicey. It would be wise for us to keep our own counsel, seek to present any new ideas in a non-threatening manner and try and garner support through team efforts and the appreciation of other people’s efforts. Today is not a day for quixotic journeys and tilting against windmills. It would be wise for us to check the source and check their agenda before we stand firm and upright regarding our own opinions. People may say they want full disclosure and transparency but possibly only if what we have to tell them conforms to their own ideas, their beliefs and their opinions. If we don’t play the ‘yes’ person or are not Machiavellian in our approach to gain the support of others by incorporating them in our creative approach, then we could wind up with a good whack on the side of the head. And who needs any more lateral lobotomies?

Wednesday, February 3rd – Looking through the Haze – Sun, Venus, Mercury. Today can be a pleasant day if we will keep an up attitude and not feel overwhelmed by our responsibilities. The Libra Moon today trines both the Sun and Venus but squares Mercury. Interactions with people today are far better than yesterday. We might have experienced some people on overwhelm looking for a safe harbor to vent their frustrations yesterday. But today there can be a far more enjoyable interchange with people. Let’s appreciate every one’s own particular uniqueness and quality of character. It is far better to embrace individuality rather than to demand conformity. Getting together with friends and just chatting about possibilities can be a nice respite from our daily tasks and obligations. The more we can make nice with other people, the less likely people will try power plays. Although certain standards may be adjusted and even demanded, it would be wise to consider our options and alternatives. We may come to realize that the tried and true no longer works for us. The more we can streamline our operations and expedite our tasks, the more productive we can be and the more likely we shall be to have some extra time to do things on a whim or to be in contact with our friends.

Thursday, February 4th – You Gotta Believe – Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course, Jupiter, Pluto. We all have heard the saying that things work out for the best. And often people have repeated the phrase when we are going through some pretty dreadful times or experiences. Even though life has become something of a hurly-burly fraught with anxieties and concerns, our attitude and our beliefs can determine not only how we approach situations but also the outcome of some events. On this Thursday, the day begins with the Libra Moon trine Neptune. Someone may give us a pat on our back and give us cause to have faith that things do work out for the best. Whether it is something we hear, something we dream about or some other incident that occurs in the early morning hours, we may feel that we can accomplish what needs to be done and also move towards the future we envision for ourselves. With our belief strengthened, even if our faith is solely blind faith, we can meet the day energized and with the sense that we can be productive and successful no matter what comes our way. The Moon goes Void-of-Course for almost seven and a half hours making no further connections to the planets as it finishes its transit of Libra and before moving into Scorpio where the Moon trines Jupiter and sextiles Pluto. As the day progresses and our faith is renewed, we can look at our lives and see what we truly want to accomplish and engage and what may have been mere mental meanderings that might have seemed good on first glance but on reflection seem to be more trouble than they are worth. We are no longer interested in rolling the boulder up the mountain, no matter how engrained early conditioning of hard work and perseverance as the only way of realizing our dreams might be. We want to be successful and to do so in the most productive ways. We can focus our efforts on the truly important and then use the most effective methods to accomplish our goals. And no matter what the obstacles or possible restrictions could be placed in our way, we gotta believe. For these times, do talk about magic and miracles and how things can shift dramatically, rapidly in the most extraordinary ways.

Friday, February 5th – Cutting Back – Lunar T-Square, Mars, Sun. Friday has the Scorpio Moon creating a Fixed Sign T-Square as the Moon squares Mars in Leo and squares the Sun in Aquarius. Things may be taking longer than we like today. A sense of frustration could permeate our mood. Instead of venting our frustration in anger, rage or feeling like the wind has been knocked out of our sails, defeated, we might need to cut back on our plans. The more effective we can be with the least expenditure of energy today, the better it would be. We may feel as though we don’t want to spend the money or that we need to marshal our resources. Let’s keep in mind the biblical story of the talents. If we scrimp on ourselves, then we are only limiting ourselves. What we can do is figure the best use of our resources — our time, our monies and our energy. We may need to put some things on the back burner but we needn’t fold up our tent and walk away. Let’s do what we can with what we have. Although many of us may feel hard pressed during this current economic cycle, such pressure can also be utilized to good advantage. We can stretch our muscles regarding cost effectiveness and see how we can do more with less. We can focus on the truly important and not be distracted by the superfluous or the extraneous. It is far better that we use the energy configurations to hone, temper and fine tune rather than to rage, throw a tantrum or give up.

Saturday, February 6th – Oh, Happy Day – Mercury, Uranus, Jupiter, Pluto, Venus, Neptune, Moon Void-of-Course. Saturday could prove to be one of those magical days filled with unexpected opportunities and wonder-full surprises. All we have to do is think outside the box, be open to receiving and not fixate on prescribed plans or become rigid. Yes, magic is in the air and this can be one of those primo days when everything is going our way, even if some of those everything are situations that we hadn’t anticipated. Mercury sextiles Uranus and Jupiter sextiles Pluto. The Scorpio Moon squares both Venus and Neptune, trines Uranus and sextiles Mercury. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost eight hours as it finishes its transit of Scorpio making no further connections to the planets before it enters Sagittarius later in the day. Insights and flashes of revelation can be part of our day. We may hear about something, learn about something or hear from people in a most serendipitous manner. This day is one of those days when we could find ourselves in the right place at the right time, no matter where we are. Our minds are sharp and astute. Any problems that have been puzzling can be easily solved through some flash of awareness. And with our insights and new understandings we could also find ourselves blueprinting ways to achieve our goals and realize our dreams. Today is one of those days when we’re operating on all eight cylinders, when it is not so much a question of our making things happen as much as things occurring around us and to us. We just have to take advantage of the opportunities as they present themselves to us. No matter what we are doing today, there are opportunities and benefits galore. We can find bargains, make important discoveries and start projects that seem to unfold easily. We just have to be willing to let go of any preconceived notions and allow the magic to work. Oh, Happy Day.

Sunday, February 7th – Reach out of the Dark Now – Saturn, Jupiter, Mars. Sunday has the Sagittarius Moon sextile Saturn, square Jupiter and trine Mars. We may continue with our sense of exuberance we might have felt yesterday. From some of our ‘feelgood’ attitude on Saturday with its possibility of mini-magic and little miracles, Sunday allows us to format and structure our new involvements, new interests or new directions. Although magic is all around us, we cannot solely depend on it. On the contrary, once opportunities present themselves we have to do something with them. Today is one of those days when we can put our spirit into action, create the right methodology and move step-by-step towards our intended goals, all with an attitude of humility whereby if we have to shift our directions and make adjustments to our plans, we can be flexible and adaptable to do so. Due diligence is called for. We need to evaluate our actions and decisions continually in light of the fact that these times are volatile and the parameters can change at any point along the way. Attitude is a major component regarding how we see things, and this Sunday offers us the silver lining to many of the storm clouds we might have witnessed or even experienced. Today is a day to reach out of the dark now and embrace the concept that we never get more than we can handle. With that aphorism as our mantram, we can have the confidence and determination to do the best we can no matter the circumstances.

February can be a welcome relief from the first month of this second decade of the twenty-first century. January was a pip with earth-shaking events that rattled nerves and changed the game.

January had a prime example of Mercury retrograde miscommunication with the US Homeland Security Secretary saying that the security system worked well during the Christmas flight event of an attempted bombing of a US airliner coming in from Amsterdam for a landing in Detroit. Even the vacationing US President was incredulous at the statement and emphasized that in fact the system did not work but failed by not pinpointing the alleged terrorist before boarding the flight.

January experienced one of the characteristics of the Saturn Pluto square that we are laboring under for the next two years — the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Although we have lived during a quiescent period of geophysical activity, the Saturn Pluto square could see an increase in frequency and in magnitude of earthquakes and volcanic activity over the next two years.

And a game changer seemed to occur in the US with the special election for US Senate in Massachusetts won by a little-known State Senator and a Republican who just weeks before the election was considered nothing more than an also-ran to the Democratic State Attorney-General. With Scott Brown’s election, the Democrats lost their Supermajority in the US Senate, seemed to knock the inevitable health care legislation back for a long yardage setback, and called into question whether the Congress and the President were listening to, much less feeling, people’s pain.

Anxiety may have ratcheted up during January for some people and even those people whose nerves had either not been rattled before or who had found ways to cope with the last eighteen months of constant trauma and survival concern.

But that was then and this is now, as we come off January 31st with its Saturn square Pluto exact aspect and enter a new month, hoping for a new age, as we begin the month of February.

February seems a far kinder and gentler month than the one that preceded it. Either the hellions are disguised or we may be looking more towards the possibilities, prospects and potentialities and less at hard, cold reality. No matter what our perspective might be, let’s keep in the forefront of our mind that we are in the midst of a major personal and societal transformation — at times feeling like the camel trying to squeeze through the eye of the needle, other times marveling at the wonders and mini-miracles of the ever-changing kaleidoscope of today’s living.

February has a strong emphasis upon universality, upon our seeing ourselves as part of a cosmic connection — like a snowflake in a blizzard, distinct, unique, individual and as a person with creative talents and self-expressive abilities hitting the note of our being amidst a symphony of hundreds of thousands of other expressing beings.

Yes, we may have our head in the clouds, rising into the infinite heavens during this month of February. For this month accentuates the two universal Signs of the Zodiac — Aquarius and Pisces, all the while that we are contending with the Saturn Pluto square which asks us, demands of us, the question as to whether we have built upon rock or whether we have built upon sand.

The rock solid situations, activities and identity of ourselves may be shaken but they cannot be torn down if we are in our essence, coming from our soul and expressing our spirit. The sand situations, activities and identity of our lives drawn solely upon our ego premises may be threatened, even washed away. And during the processing of these times we always have choice — the choice of our attitude and dispositions, the choice of our reactions to the shifting tides with their occasional rogue waves, the choice of our actions and what we choose to do and how we choose to do it. Within our choice, it is also important to keep in mind that these times are a paradigm shift, a time of letting go of old outmoded beliefs and the willingness to be open to the understanding of the new paradigm. We are moving away from the security, stability and solidity of the past, which created rigidity and fixity and contributed to a wrong-headed belief and totally egocentric belief that we could master the world. We are moving towards the ever-present need of flexibility and adaptability, accepting our creative role yet realizing that we are co-creators with the natural unfolding and that our intentions need to be honest and from integrity and our letting go of a sense of total control over our lives’ situations.

We are entering the magical, mystery world of synchronicity, a paradigm where we cross from the fourth dimension of the three coordinates of space and the coordinate of time into a fifth dimension where space-time collapse into the NOW, no beginning, no middle, no end, NOW, a dimension where past, present, future are all NOW.

February allows our minds to wander, to roam, to explore, to investigate and to discover. We are unshackled by the limitations of security that has proven insecure, of stability that has been destabilized, and of solidity that can breakdown, liquefy and shapeshift without a moment’s notice. How liberating, how freeing, we have the opportunity to be.

Coming off the Saturn square Pluto on the 31st of January, we enter February with one planet in a Fire Sign, three planets in Earth Signs, four planets in Air Signs and two planets in Water Signs. Three planets are in Cardinal Signs, four planets are in Fixed Signs and three planets are in Mutable Signs. Five planets are in Positive Signs and five planets are in Receptive Signs.

We start the month with a Stellium of three of more planets in Aquarius with the Sun, Venus and Neptune in the Fixed Air Sign and five planets in the two Universal Signs of Aquarius and Pisces. Mid-month there are seven planets in the two Universal Signs and a Stellium in both Aquarius and in Pisces. While the Aquarius energy is emphasized at the beginning of the month, the Pisces energy is highlighted from the mid-month through the end of the month.

February is a month when we are likely to be far more interested in the ‘what could be’ rather than the ‘what is’.

While we might experience further releases, eliminations, letting-gos and other circumstances that force us to acknowledge both a dynamic but ever shifting phase of time, we can also give thought to the reality of the concept that when one door closes, a window or another door opens. This month is a time to look towards the far horizons and beyond. Now is a time for us to consider possibilities and even the possibilities of the impossible, for in the breakdowns and strippings away there are incredible opportunities of co-creating new structures, new formats, new intentions and new directions. Even the impossible could prove possible.

February has both Saturn retrograde and Mars retrograde. Although we may be champing at the bit, wanting to get on with it and to emphasize our individual ambitions, things may take longer than we might like. We can conceive of things easily in our minds with the abstract moving quickly into manifestation. While our thoughts and ideas can occur with lightning speed, things on the earth plane always take longer. And during February we shall have to be wary not to get frustrated or depressed that things are taking their time rather than in our time. Any delays could be seen as a tempering process, the opportunity to hone and refine both our methodologies and our plans. For it is wise that we keep in mind that we are but co-creators of our destiny and that often the natural unfolding has far better plans for us than we could ever imagine for ourselves.

February asks us to draw upon our faith, even if that faith be a blind faith. If we question the conditions and circumstances occurring to us or around us, we could easily turn to seeing ourselves as witless victims to life’s vagaries. Why go there?

The early part of February continues with the ever-present influence of the Saturn Pluto square. Cleaning out, clearing away are actions we can take in order to provide room and space for new developments and new activities.

On the weekend of the 6th and 7th, when Mercury sextiles Uranus and Jupiter sextiles Pluto, we might experience remarkable insights, those ah-has regarding a best practices approach and answers to perplexing problems coming out of the blue. Serendipity can be at play and it would be wise for us not only to marvel at the insights and revelations but then to take plan in hand and strategize and develop a blueprint for both releasing ourselves from old patterns and incorporating some of the new ingredients we choose for our future.

Our relationships can be especially appealing during much of this month. We are far less likely to demand friends and acquaintances conform to a certain definition or mock-up of the way they should be. We may know people by experience but we are no longer limiting them to our familiarity of how we see them. On the contrary, we are far more interested in the individual characteristics of other people, those traits that make them unique and those qualities that endear them to us. On the 8th, Venus conjuncts Neptune before Venus moves into Pisces on the 11th and then sextiles Pluto on the 15th and conjuncts Jupiter on the 16th. Relationships can come close to the idyllic. No matter what is occurring in the world around us, we may find our sanctuary, our nurture and sustenance, in our interactions with other people. We do not have to give in to a ‘misery loves company’ melodrama but rather embrace the expression of spirit and soul that we may well witness in other people.

One area of potential conflict this month can be any dichotomy between our personal interests, goals and needs and the larger picture of the collective and our interaction with the world at large. With Mars retrograding through Leo and Mars opposing the planets transiting Aquarius, there can be times when we are asked to find the perfect balance between our desires and those of other people. We may want to express ourselves but we shall also be asked whether our self-expressions are in harmony with other people or if our self-expressions are merely the primal screams of self-assertion with the liability of stepping, even tromping, on other people’s toes. The blend of Leo and Aquarius does allow us to consider what would be the best outlets for our creativity. And these times provide the tools and the opportunities to herald individual creative self-expressions. We can do so through the technological advances of computers, digital cameras, cell phones, and various creative and self-expressive software. And February can see further announcements of technological advances that provide ever increasingly the tools by which an individual can easily express their creativity.

The New Moon on the 13th accentuates the realm of possibilities but with the Sun Moon conjunction also conjunct Neptune we have to be wary of putting back on the rose-colored glasses whereby we see only what could be, what we want to see or what is being portrayed to us, all the while that we neglect what truly is. We may have our heads in the clouds but it would be wise to keep our feet on the ground. Although there might be the tendency to escape reality into a world of possibilities, it would be wise to keep in mind here and there with the recognition that certain things may have to be removed before we can embrace the new and make the possibilities a reality.

The New Moon also begins the Chinese New Year of the Metal Tiger and ushers in a dynamic and aggressive year. Things can accelerate and similar to the tiger on its prowl, it would be wise for us to maintain due diligence, consider the possible implications of any changes or new beginnings, before we pounce on situations and initiate actions. If this past year felt like an excruciating push-pull, this year speeds things up. We have the power and determination to move our interests ahead but with the likely consequence either being the attainment of our objects or the crash and burn whereby our plans do not come to fruition. The keys to which outcome is likely are maintaining our flexibility, our adaptability and our willingness to shift and change according to the shifting tides as things unfold.

Let’s acknowledge that recent times, no matter how fretful they may have seemed, have also helped us exercise our muscles — our physical abilities, our soul determination and our spirit expression. All of us have been impacted by the dramatic circumstances and changes over the past eighteen months. While we might have preferred a far smoother and easier time frame with just sitting back and watching the river of life flow, we might have been forced back on our own resources, determining the best ways to deal with the ever-changing landscape and focusing on survival techniques. Now is a time for us to move from a focus on survival to an intention of thriving no matter what the world conditions and the circumstances around us might be.

I reiterate, as I have written before, the wise and true saying that we never get more than we can handle. The question remains whether we choose to handle situations or if we fall into a victim mode and give up.

As February goes on, the energy shifts from an emphasis upon Aquarius to a highlighting of the Pisces energy. Venus moves into Pisces on the 11th, creating a Stellium of three or more planets in Pisces as Venus joins both Jupiter and Uranus in the Mutable Water Sign. On the 18th, the Sun exits Aquarius ending the Stellium in Aquarius and enters Pisces reinforcing the Stellium in Pisces. Our compassion, our sensitivity, our emotional state are all ratcheted up.

With the two universal Signs — Aquarius and Pisces — so highlighted this month, we may find ourselves seeking to put spirit into action. We might go out of our way to provide service to other people. We could get involved with groups to address natural catastrophes and man-made calamities. We can experience deep reflection on the purpose of our lives and how we are doing with our living. We may seek to be the fix-it to other people’s issues and problems. While such service is certainly a hallmark of true humanity, the challenge may be the fine line between service and self-sacrifice. As the adage attributed to Lao Tzu states: ‘Give a man a fish; feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish; feed him for a lifetime’.

The balance this month certainly speaks to the idea of looking at the possibilities for our future and finding outlets for our spirit yet at the same time maintaining a sense of groundedness and a clear recognition of the conditions presently around us. This is a month when we may have our head in the clouds but need to keep our feet firmly planted on the ground.

Although this month begins the Chinese New Year of the Metal Tiger on the 13th-14th, the increasing influence of Pisces during the latter part of the month also speaks to the end of the astrological year with the new beginning of the astrological new year at the Vernal Equinox next month when the Sun ends its annual transit of the Zodiac wheel by exiting Pisces and enters Aries. Our tendency towards a great deal of sighing, a sense of wrap-ups even as we give thought to new beginnings, strong emotional feelings can all be part of the latter part of February.

We may be doing a great deal of reflection and contemplation this month, and it would be wise for us to give serious thought and consideration before launching forward, but we might also want to keep in mind the somewhat irreverent and flippant yet quite observant statement that ‘Life’s too mysterious. Don’t take it serious.’

February… Wouldn’t it be loverly…

Some people may see us as flighty this week. It is not that we are being shallow or superficial but rather that brevity and cursory consideration are our best friends now.

Some people may see us as flighty this week. It is not that we are being shallow or superficial but rather that brevity and cursory consideration are our best friends now. Our intuitive sense is turned up to peak performance, and we can evaluate people and situations very quickly.

We want to sample all of life right now, going from one thing to another to yet another rather than getting bogged down into a singular focus. While this might create difficulty with people who want a long, incisive analysis of things, we get more in a short span of time than if we were to stew over them for a long while.

Interactions with people might be testy. Someone may be stuck in their opinions, wanting people to agree with their perspective rather than discuss differing ideas. Conversations could turn argumentative as someone tries to win their point by ratcheting up their belligerence. Although we could offer a broader vision and provide interesting insights to conversations, we need to recognize that our audience might not be receptive unless we make it seem to be in accord with their point of view.

Let’s trust our instincts this week. We could come up with innovative and streamlined ways of doing things. It would be wise to take some time to listen to our muse, for the answers lie not so much in the ‘tried and true’ or book learning but rather our own feeling sense of the way things could be.

Monday, January 25th – No Blues on Monday – Jupiter, Lunar Grand Trine, Saturn, Sun, Venus. This Monday could be the primo day of the week. The Moon moves into Gemini where it squares Jupiter and then creates a Lunar Grand Trine in the Air Element as the Moon trines Saturn in Libra and trines both the Sun and Venus in Aquarius. Although the volatility of these times could have us waking to a bit of anxiety according to whatever is going on in the outer world, we really don’t have to stay in a reactive mode or victim mindset. Sure, things are crazy during these times. We all have felt it, witnessed it and possibly even experienced it. But we’re also getting used to it. No blues on this Monday. Some people may chalk it up to the old idea that ‘misery loves company’. But why go there? Instead, after a mini-panic attack or feeling a little queasy in the early morning hours, we can get a grip, change our attitude and focus on the good things in our lives. And some of the really good things in our lives are the people who sparkle it. Today is a good day to make contact with friends, loved ones, those people we enjoy just sitting back and chatting up with. Friends and colleagues can prove good sounding boards today, lifting our spirits as we lift their spirits. Yup, today can be a pleasant day. We might not get a great deal done, but we are likely to touch base with a number of different activities that help stir the pot of our thoughts and ideas to consider future plans, options and alternatives for ourselves. This Monday is a nice day and one to walk on the sunny side of the street. If you thinking I’m only trying to portray Doctor Feelgood, I’d have to suggest enjoying the day with the recognition that this day may be the best day of the week.

Tuesday, January 26th – Making the Case – Mars, Uranus. Tuesday continues with the Gemini Moon and today the Moon sextiles Mars and squares Uranus. We can present ourselves in an engaging, creative and energetic manner. We’ve got passion and determination to put our best foot forward and to make our case in a dynamic and scintillating manner. Where a problem might arise is the fact that we might not be able to take into account all the factors at play. Unexpected situations could force us to adapt and be flexible, to be extemporaneous and deal with things on the fly. If we don’t get fixated or rigid in the way that we want things to go, then we can make the necessary adjustments. If not, then there could be a series of problems especially with communications equipment such as cell phones, emails and Internet glitches. If we are nimble and quick, then we can make the necessary shifts and changes. We certainly have the energy to do so. We just need to be aware, mindful and vigilant.

Wednesday, January 27th – Possibilities or Realities – Venus, Mars, Neptune, Jupiter, Lunar T-Square, Pluto, Saturn. Wednesday has Venus opposed Mars. We have to be wary of any adversarial situations that could arise in our interactions with other people. The day starts with the Gemini Moon trine Neptune and as the Moon moves into Cancer, the Moon then trines Jupiter. We may start the day in a la-de-da manner, assuming that all is right in our world. And perhaps it is, at least before we step out the door and interact with the world at large. We can be intoxicated with possibilities, loving the life and safe space we have created for ourselves. Our mind can be filled with the sugar plums of beautiful possibilities, magnificent potentialities and wonderful prospects. Ah, nirvana. Nirvana is a nice place to visit but such a state of being can sometimes bang up against hard, cold reality when going out into the mundane world. And hard, cold reality today there might be, since today is Wednesday in January and each Wednesday of this month has done the dance with the Saturn Pluto square. Today, the Moon moving into Cancer, and after trining Jupiter, opposes Pluto and squares Saturn. Once again, we might have to deal with the rug being pulled out from under. Reality may seem increasingly chaotic as the crash and burn of the old and outdated leave a heap to be reconstructed or newly built upon. We might have to deal with past issues or with people that have major issues. If we don’t get entangled in other people’s confusions, then we can proceed forward, although with the realization that things could get in our way and even trip us up. Let’s keep in mind the volatility of these times, with wide mood swings and a sense of having fallen down the rabbit hole into Alice’s surrealistic wonder land.

Thursday, January 28th – Outside the Box – Mercury, Uranus. Thursday has the Cancer Moon opposed Mercury and trine Uranus. Today is one of those days when we might feel our responsibilities falling heavy on our shoulders. We could feel reticent about expressing ourselves, especially if people are asking us to be the way they know us by definition. We don’t want to be limited or restricted by our past, or the identity of whom we have been. We want to be free, and we might even embrace a little quirkiness today in our dress, our mannerisms and even our schedule. Today is a day to think outside the box, and even step away from the box itself. We may feel that we are expected to do the ‘tried and true’, but we know we’ve tried it and it no longer holds true, much less works for us. If we could streamline our activities today, give ourselves some free time to do things on the whim of the moment, then we are less likely to get depressed by our obligations and that overloaded ‘to do’ list. If we can put nose to grindstone in the early part of the day, deal with the urgent priorities of this Thursday and get them out of the way, the latter part of the day would allow us to do what we want, the way we want to do it, even if that means merely being at home, putting our feet up and enjoying the meandering of our minds into considering future options for ourselves.

Friday, January 29th – Looking Before Leaping – Sun, Mars, Saturn. There are days when we just want to launch forward, cast our fate to the winds and go for it, even if we’re not truly clear about what the ‘it’ might be. This Friday is one of those days. The Sun opposes Mars and the Moon moving into Leo sextiles Saturn. We’re energized, jazzed, ready to thrust ourselves into high gear, wanting to get on with it. What we need to watch out for and to avoid would be putting the pedal to the metal all the while that we’re in neutral or heading off without considering our intended itinerary and the appropriate directions. We may want to put our imprint on things, focus on our creative self-expressions in whatever format that might take, and be a star of our world. Such an attitude could create conflict with other people. If we can take it down a notch, slow things down, and consider how best to proceed, then we can be far more effective in doing what we wish to do and without causing consternation with other people. This is a day to look before we leap, even though we may feel prodded to leap, leap, leap. We are also on the threshold of the weekend, a weekend that could be quite intense and even fretful. Spending time with that special someone on this Friday, taking in a movie, a show or some other fun event would be a good way of bracing for the weekend. Why not bolster ourselves for the possible intensity of the weekend by having some time on Friday just for enjoyment and re-creation.

Saturday, January 30th – Me or We – Leo Full Moon, Mars, Sun, Venus. Late Friday, early Saturday has the Leo Full Moon and possibly a tug of war between the Leo energies of our regal self and the Aquarius energies of our humanitarian being. Not only do we have the Sun Moon opposition today but the Moon conjuncts Mars and opposes Venus reinforcing the Mars Venus opposition that was exact on Wednesday. And in the corner, not really hiding but increasingly evident, is the Saturn Pluto square which is exact tomorrow. This Full Moon could prove intense. We have an internal battle going on — our focus on our personal self and our interest in how we fit into the larger world. People may be on edge, especially if anyone is feeling slighted or not fully appreciated. Let’s realize that these times are not easy times, and in recognizing that disposition it is important that we cut ourselves and other people some slack, a lot of slack. Even if such a suggestion is accepted, there can still be times when people’s anger can flare and erupt. It would be wise to count to ten before any reaction today. We may feel a tug of war between our own self interests and those of other people. Let’s find creative outlets by which we can explore and express ourselves. Like a Dutch steam kettle, we might need avenues in which to vent our frustrations and our anxieties. Creative outlets would seem far better than adversarial confrontations. Whether we participate or spectate, let’s use some of this Saturday for having some fun.

Sunday, January 31st – Kablooie… All Fall Down – Saturn, Pluto, Neptune, Jupiter. Sunday starts with the Leo Moon opposed Neptune and then as the Moon moves into Virgo the Moon opposes Jupiter and trines Pluto. Sunday also have the Saturn Pluto square exact. Aaargh. Perhaps it’s not necessary to run and hide today, but it would be wise to assume that we are walking a minefield. Awareness and mindfulness, vigilance and careful actions, no knee-jerk reactions and no violent eruptions are all called for today. Even if things don’t go according to plan, and in these days flexibility and adaptability to changing conditions are demanded of us, let’s not lose it. People today could be prone to tantrums. If things aren’t going their way, if there is a high level of frustration, then people can let loose and vent their feeling of anger, frustration and victimization. A healthy way to use the energy today is a good straightening up and cleaning out. Today we can get rid of a lot of stuff that no longer serves us. We do have to watch that we don’t get so wrapped up in clearing our way that we throw the baby out with the bath water. If we would be systematic in our consideration of what goes and what stays, this day could prove an important rebuilding and restructuring day. The energies today are explosive. We may feel the earth move under our feet, as Carole King once wrote and sang about. But the moving earth may be less associated with our loving infatuations as much as the breakdown of old structures and old formats. Healing crises can be subtle and gentle or dramatic and explosive. Let’s choose the former and be leery of the latter.
