The astrology for this week of December 21st through the 27th of 2020 ushers in the winter season with the Great Conjunction of the Jupiter Saturn conjunction in Aquarius. Welcome to a new world order.
The week begins with the Sun exiting Sagittarius to enter Capricorn at the Winter Solstice [5:02 AM EST] and the beginning of the winter season. With the Great Conjunction of Jupiter conjunct Saturn in Aquarius on this same day, this winter season sees us bidding adieu to the godawful year of 2020 with its impositions, lockdowns, fearmongering and virus contagion.
We are more interested in looking forward rather than backward as we come into this winter season, but it would be wise to keep in mind the wise saying of George Santayana: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
We are not looking to re-create the past, much less engage an Orwellian dystopia. And yet we cannot discount the dramatic transformations happening during these intense, disruptive and tumultuous times. The great upset can be like the rug being pulled out from under, a feeling liable to be evident on Wednesday when Mars squares Pluto.
Although this is Christmas week, and a time to celebrate the wonders of the spirit and the kinship of humanity, we might experience people with chips on their shoulder waiting for any moment, any slight trifle, to trigger an aggressive, even violent, response.
This mid-week period demands caution in everything we do. Not only can people be incredibly angry and looking for someone or something on which to take out their anger. We might also hear of geophysical phenomena such as earthquakes or volcanic eruptions. And storm systems would likely be fierce.
Christmas Day on Friday can provide surprising news or unexpected contacts that put a smile on our face and re-engage a sense of magical happenings.
The weekend is likely to be a long weekend from mid-Thursday of Christmas Eve through Sunday. This could be a weekend of various social gatherings, in person if we dare, or by telecommunications. We all seem to have zoom meetings with good friends and relatives, and we might be zooming this weekend.
This is a powerful week, a week when we can see glimpses of the possibilities for our future with a warning to be extremely cautious mid-week before fully enjoying the celebrations over the weekend.
Monday, December 21st – From the Dark, the Light is Born – Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Saturn, Jupiter, Sun, Mercury, Winter Solstice, Sun Capricorn. Monday starts with the Pisces Moon sextile Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for twelve hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Pisces and before the Moon enters Aries. The Aries Moon sextiles both Saturn and Jupiter both in Aquarius, and the Moon squares both the Sun and Mercury both in Capricorn. Monday begins this week with two major, major energy configurations. The Sun exits Sagittarius to enter Capricorn at the Winter Solstice [5:02 AM EST] to kick off the winter season. Jupiter conjuncts Saturn at the Great Conjunction. We also have an end to a monthly cycle with the Moon coming out of the last Sign of the Zodiac, Pisces, and entering the first Sign of the Zodiac, Aries. This is a day for us to look to our future. It’s Christmas week and many of us may be taking time off from our regular routine to celebrate Christmas in a traditional, or more likely non-traditional, manner. In order to engage future possibilities, it would be wise for us to address outstanding matters of great significance. We are less likely to deal with our usual responsibilities as we proceed further into the week. And we have to be extremely wary of the energy on Wednesday, so it would be wise for us to take care of serious matters before the mid-week period. Despite whatever we have scheduled for this Monday, let’s take some time to acknowledge the new day dawning. We are more fully entering the technological revolution of the Information Age. Life is changing, and it is especially curious that this conjunction of Jupiter Saturn is occurring at the time when in the northern latitudes the light is born from the darkness, at the darkest day of the year with the sun to rise to its zenith at the Summer Solstice in June.
Tuesday, December 22nd – Far and Wide – Venus. Tuesday is sandwiched between two high energy days. There is not a great deal of energy today, but today would be a good day to lift our eyes to far horizons and embrace the sense that ‘life is good’. Today, the Aries Moon trines Venus. As if taking off blinders, we could be looking far and wide and taking into account situations that are foreign to us. This is a good day for relationships, whether we get together with people in person or we contact them by our telecommunications equipment. We might choose some re-creational activities today, a way to take a breather from all the intensity that seems to be shaking people up. We have been under assault for months with anxieties and concerns from the virus situation, the daily roll call of cases and deaths, the fear mongering, the economic squeezes, the lockdowns and lockins, and now the vaccine pandemonium. Not knowing who or what to trust can be truly upsetting, and today would be a good day for us to walk on the ‘sunny side of the street’, take a breather from the mass hysteria, and reacquaint ourselves with the goodness in life. This Tuesday could be seen as a ‘mental health’ day, a day to reinvigorate, recharge and re-create before we come into Wednesday.
Wednesday, December 23rd – Is Hell Breaking Loose? – Pluto, Mars, Moon Void-of-Course. Wednesday might prove to be one hell of a day as the energy ratchets up dramatically with a liability of kneejerk reactions. The Aries Moon conjuncts Mars, and the Moon squares Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for twelve hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before the Moon enters Taurus early Thursday morning. Mars squares Pluto. This is a day for us to fully engage awareness, mindfulness, flexibility and adaptability. Caution in everything we do today is essential. There can be various incidents of acting out, violent behavior, explosions, bomb blasts, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, and intense atmospheric storm systems. Got the picture? This Wednesday is not a day for us to go blithely out and about. On the contrary, we need to keep our wits about us, not fall into panic mode, or even victim mode. Major changes might seem reflective of the paradigm shift. Events occurring far distant can appear to be directly impactful to our daily lives, but we have to question ourselves: are they really? With the intensity today liable to trigger impulsive actions, we may need to be ready for braking action, muting our response to whatever is happening around us. If we could harness this energy productively, then we might be able to virtually move mountains. But harnessing this energy is similar to taming a F5 tornado, hardly possible, and it would be far better for us to get out of the way. This is a day when the imposed lockdowns could seem like a real blessing. This too shall pass.
Thursday, December 24th – Picking Up the Pieces – Saturn, Jupiter, Sun, Mercury, Uranus. Thursday is Christmas Eve and has the Moon moving into Taurus where today the Moon conjuncts Uranus, the Moon squares both Saturn and Jupiter both in Aquarius, and the Moon trines both the Sun and Mercury both in Capricorn. We live in a world of duality — positive – negative, good – evil, masculine – feminine. The idea is to integrate the two opposite forces, complementary forces in truth [think the Tao of the yin and yang, with the apparent seed of its opposite in each and the completion of both within the whole]. The completion of the duality creates the whole, but the process often seems like a metronome of going from one extreme to the other before we find the balance point, the integration of the two. And so it might seem this week. We started the week with the Moon in harmonious aspect of the Jupiter Saturn and in adverse aspect of the Sun and Mercury. Today, we have the opposite forces in effect. Between the two, we had yesterday’s Mars Pluto square. Whatever explosive incidents might have occurred yesterday, this Thursday allows us to pick up the pieces. Perhaps we tried to go too far too fast in advancing our future interest earlier in the week. Our plans may seem thwarted as we take several steps back to address what needs to get done with a tendency, or liability, of falling back on the ‘tried and true’ [although how true the tried may be could be highly questionable]. Today is a day to recognize the movement of water as suggested in Taoism. There are times when the water flow is fast and rapid currents, other times when the water seems stagnant with no apparent movement. But the water makes its way towards the oceans, towards the source. So too for us — times of dramatic movements, other times when we seem to be lying low, but all with the movement back to our source. Increasingly, we may find things happening in a most extraordinary manner. We just have to be willing to flexible and adaptable and go ‘with the flow’.
Friday, December 25th – World of Wonder – Neptune, Mercury, Uranus. Friday is Christmas Day, and a day when the Taurus Moon sextiles Neptune, and Mercury trines Uranus. We live in magical times, times when the boundaries between physical and spiritual dimensions are a great deal thinner. Today the Taurus Moon sextiles Neptune, and Mercury trines Uranus. We may truly imbibe the spirit of Christmas, the birth of the christed consciousness, the birth of light in the darkness instilled by the Winter Solstice, and the promise of our own individual ascension. Friday can have serendipitous encounters and learning about things of which we had not been aware. Insights and revelations are likely to come quickly and easily to our somewhat altered state. We might feel ever more the depth of our being and the true essence of living. Surprising news could put a smile on our face, and we can be tickled by inexplicable incidents that occur. It may feel like we have stepped into a different realm as if given a glimpse into how our world can be. With that glimpse as a guiding light, we might resolve to make our lives brighter days through better ways, and a personal world of wonder.
Saturday, December 26th – Foundation Stones – Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Saturn, Jupiter. Saturday has the Taurus Moon trine Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for twelve hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Taurus and before the Moon enters Gemini where late in the day the Gemini Moon trines both Saturn and Jupiter both in Aquarius. This Saturday allows us to tie up loose ends of the past and lay down the foundation stones for our future. We might not know the means as to how to achieve our goals, but a blank slate and committed intention provide the impetus to find our way. Discussions with people in the evening hours can be light and uplifting and may also give clues to us regarding our way forward on our scavenger hunt. By drawing upon what needs to get done and utilizing innovative procedures and time management skills, we can clear the deck of our past and ready ourselves for new future trajectories. Let’s keep in mind part of the characteristic of the paradigm shift is the fact that we don’t have to do it all. The universe works, and our path will be made clear, even in spite of brambles we might encounter along our way. We just have to avoid being adamant in our so-called control over situations and instead be open to the serendipity of these times.
Sunday, December 27th – Streaming – Sun, Uranus. Sunday continues with the Moon in Gemini with the Moon making no connections to the planets today. The Sun trines Uranus. Our mind may be abuzz with all sorts of ideas, a wide realm of possibilities. We are interested in expressing a new sense of ourselves. We’re coming off a difficult year and looking forward to the new year with the likely resolution of incorporating changes in our life that provide us more freedom and autonomy in everything we do. This is a good day to buy equipment that would benefit time-saving operations, technological tools such as upgraded software, and items that would make our life simpler and easier. The crazies may be rampaging in the world, but we aren’t interested in playing their game. We might instead decide to go our own way and do our own unique, individual thing. Streamlining and streaming might be the keystones of our future.
