July 20th – 26th, 2020

The astrology for this week of July 20th through the 26th of 2020 has us launching forward with more fire in our belly, our creative juices salivating, and with a greater desire, even insistence, to have good times with good friends.

We begin the week with the Cancer New Moon, an imprint for the next two weeks up to the Full Moon on the 3rd of August. This New Moon has the Sun Moon conjunction opposed the three Capricorn-transiting planets of Jupiter, Pluto, Saturn.

The next two weeks can have a push-pull between our sense of independence and our feelings of restrictions. For many people, the compliance continue and the anxiety level constantly stoked, but for other people their willingness to suffer the damages of the lockdown may be wearing thin with some people flouting the rules and regulations laid down.

During these intense times, I am often reminded that some of the greatest inspirational literature has been written under the most adverse circumstances. A most recent example is Viktor Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning.

In 1625 Francis Bacon wrote in his essay Of Adversity: “The true greatness is to have the frailty of man accompanied by the security of God. This security of God is freedom from care. It happens only in adversity because in prosperity man is lost in materialism.”

The authorities’ response to this virus contagion has forced us indoors, in a lockdown position. This adversity has provided the opportunity for a spiritual retreat, a time when we could reflect, contemplate, take a hiatus from the accelerated pace of our daily life, and consider our next steps forward that might reveal greater meaning and the true purpose of our life journey.

As we come into the mid-week, the Sun exits Cancer to enter Leo. We gain greater fire as the Sun in Leo joins Mars in Aries in the Fire Element. While we initially gained fire at the end of June when Mars first came into its own Sign of Aries with the intent of self-assertion strongly triggered but often solely in an impetuous manner, with the Sun in Leo and now Mars in the second decanate of Aries [Leo], we may harness our fire and self-focus in creative venues and more refined self-expressions.

We are likely to increasingly question whether our choices of both decisions and actions will be determined by our own individual promptings or by the collective consensus opinions.

We may have to find the balance between our individualism and our society, but we are likely to look to avenues by which we can engage in creative projects and exhibit our talents and abilities. There may be no stopping us now.

The latter part of the week can have us highly productive, accomplishing a great deal so long as we don’t fall prey to distractions and diversions. We can get a great deal done towards the end of the week and before we enter a weekend when we might be more engaged with social get-togethers and quality time with our special someone.

Monday, July 20th – With Help From – Neptune, Jupiter, Pluto, Cancer New Moon, Sun, Saturn, Moon Void-of-Course. Monday begins the week with the Moon in Cancer and with the Moon trine Neptune, the Moon conjunct the Sun at the Cancer New Moon [1:33 PM EDT], and the Moon opposed the three Capricorn-transiting planets of Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for two hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Cancer and before the Moon enters Leo. The Sun opposes Saturn. We may feel the push pull between our home, family matters and our obligations, responsibilities with this push-pull proving exhausting and depleting. The issue of finding balance between our individual interests and those of the collective society is a question that each of us might need to consider. Instead of a tug-of-war between what we want and the greater good, it would be wise for us to reflect, contemplate and seriously consider the how, what and why of our choices. With the constant haranguing of fear and anxiety, we may feel as though we are on a precipice, staring down into a deep, fathomless chasm, a void that possibly ends in a dystopian future. Our choice may be to either fold under the pressure and succumb to the negativity or perhaps, just maybe, rise to the occasion and like the phoenix rising from the ashes soar with the eagles to greater heights. Our choice, always our choice. This recent period has allowed us to be less impacted by the constant stimuli of our doing life and more influenced by the deeper meaning and true purpose of our life journey. We may even have rediscovered our spiritual side and committed to expressing our soul’s essence in our life journey ahead. With the paradigm shift in fully play with its tenet that we do not have to do it all, we can be open to the blessings of the universe, the gifts from the natural unfolding, all with a little help from the great unknown.

Tuesday, July 21st – Tracking Rightly – Uranus, Mars, Venus, Moon Void-of-Course. The Leo Moon today squares Uranus, the Moon trines Mars, and the Moon sextiles Venus. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over twenty-three hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Leo and before the Moon enters Virgo late on Wednesday. We might start the day on the wrong track, creating trouble for ourselves by unnecessary expenses or by willful actions that only boomerang to our detriment. Once we ‘straighten up and fly right’ [to borrow from the 1943 song by Nat King Cole and Irving Mills], things can go far more smoothly, quickly, with far better results likely. The main thing, and one of the key issues for each of us in this life journey, is to learn patience and to tone down our impetuousness. This Tuesday may be a good test in that regard. We could easily go off, assuming that everything will work out according to our will, only to find some curveballs upsetting our plans. Once we deal with liable screwups, we can get back on track, proceed vigorously in our activities, and show ourselves in our best light. The latter part of the day can have us enjoying fun activities with someone. Let’s keep in mind that we are living in times of intense disruptions when unexpected situations force us to be flexible and adaptable and willing to shift and change according to the vagaries of these times. We may not always like making changes, but what we might find is the truth to the understanding: that the universal forces have far greater plans for us than we could have ever imagined for ourselves.

Wednesday, July 22nd – Shining in the Light – Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury, Uranus, Sun Leo. The Void-of-Course Moon that began on Tuesday evening continues on this Wednesday as the Moon completes its transit of Leo without making any further connections to the planets. Late in the day, the Moon moves into Virgo. Mercury sextiles Uranus, and the Sun exits Cancer to enter its own Sign of Leo. Being the 22nd, this day in Numerology is a Master Number indicative of the Master Builder. We have the opportunity to draw upon remarkable insights and exciting news. Things can fit neatly together without much effort, as we think outside the box and incorporate means to accomplish our goals. We also have a greater appreciation of our own talents and recognize our capabilities. Even if we have played the victim card, we are less likely to be reactive as we get a greater thrust to stand out rather than just fit in. This is a great day for exploration, planning new approaches, and recharging our batteries. We may come to a greater recognition of what is truly going on, and devise for ourselves a best practices approach by which we can advance our projects and develop our personal interests no matter the backdrop of whatever is happening in the world-at-large.

Thursday, July 23rd – Getting on With It – Uranus, Mercury. Thursday has the Virgo Moon trine Uranus, and the Moon sextile Mercury. With Uranus transiting Taurus and the three Capricorn-transiting planets of Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn, every time during the month when the Moon transits Virgo, the Moon triggers a Grand Trine in the Earth Element and provides us the opportunity to accomplish a great deal. And so it can be on this Thursday and Friday. By addressing the specifics and focusing on the essential components, we are able to utilize innovative and streamlined methodology to get a great deal done. This is a day when we are likely to get the most bang for our buck. If we go shopping, we could find items that would make our life easier, and we might decide upon additions to our wardrobe that make us seem slightly more edgy and au courant. We may feel as though we are plodding along today, but our plodding along can take various twists and turns that shorten the time to accomplish our endeavors and make us far more effective at the same time. This is a day for us to appreciate how being open to options and alternatives could make our life far easier. There is no time for us to be stuck in old ways but rather time for us to incorporate the new and the different.

Friday, July 24th – If Only – Lunar T-Square, Venus, Neptune, Jupiter, Pluto, Saturn. Friday continues with the Virgo Moon with the Moon today triggering a Mutable Sign T-Square as the Virgo Moon squares Venus in Gemini, and the Moon opposes Neptune in Pisces. The Moon trines the three Capricorn-transiting planets of Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn. Late in the day, the Moon exits Virgo to enter Libra. Thursday and Friday offer us two days when we can accomplish a great deal. Yesterday, we might have enjoyed the challenge of doing things differently and being far more effective with less expenditure of energy. Our time management skills may have shown themselves off at their optimum. Friday could continue in the same vein if we can maintain our persistence and avoid being diverted and distracted by either trying to do too much or by fascinating involvements that have little meaning or purpose. Yesterday and today has the Moon triggering an Earth Grand Trine with the Virgo Moon trine Uranus in Taurus yesterday, and the Moon trine the Stellium of three planets transiting Capricorn. Either the sense of adventure or the thrill of juggling any number of things could have us trying to do too much today without us getting as much done as we might if we focus and concentrate on our priorities. Someone’s input may have us taking our eye off the ball and wanting to engage social activities today rather than completing outstanding matters and making progress with our projects. This weekend is a good time for social engagements and fun activities, whereas Thursday and Friday are optimum days for us to get things done and out of the way.

Saturday, July 25th – Shining on You, Shining on Me – Sun, Lunar T-Square, Mercury, Mars. Saturday has the Libra Moon sextile the Sun to start the day. Late in the day, the Libra Moon triggers a Cardinal Sign T-Square with the Moon square Mercury in Cancer, and the Moon opposed Mars in Aries. We may be looking for good times with a good friend or good friends on this Saturday. It’s summertime and no matter the haranguing of the death count from the virus contagion, we are likely to want to enjoy ourselves. This is a day for fun summertime activities and spending the day with other people. The energy can ratchet up as the day proceeds. Like a wound-up top, we may spin out of control in the evening hours with more people out and about, congregating in groups and looking to blow off some steam. Thrilling events and wild adventures might be fun to participate in. We might not have a good regulator on our expenditure of energy and are liable to overdo today. Variety may be the spice of life, but we do need to be careful not to push the limits or overdo, thereby putting ourselves in danger.

Sunday, July 26th – Anything but Demands – Venus, Jupiter, Pluto, Saturn. Sunday continues with the Libra Moon with the Moon today trine Venus, and the Moon square the three Capricorn-transiting planets of Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn. Following up on yesterday when we might have chosen to step off the track of our regular routine and to engage fun summertime activities, this Sunday continues in a similar vein. We would far prefer spending time with someone, exploring various activities and all with a sampling rather than fully engaged involvements. If we have responsibilities or commitments we need to attend to, we might try and skirt them in order to do what we want to do with few restrictions or constraints. If we have to address our obligations, we are liable to do so in a slipshod manner just to get it done but without much attention to the details. It would be far better for us to postpone any significant decisions or important projects, since we are unlikely to give them the proper attention. No, this weekend is geared more for fun and games than planned obligations.
