January 6th – 12th, 2020

The astrology for this week of January 6th through the 12th of 2020 may prove the quiet before the storm with some perilous energies crescendoing over the weekend into next week.

The week begins with us looking to put down roots for some of our resolutions and projects for this new year. We can be adept at prioritizing our activities, focusing on the most significant, and addressing specifics with an appealing presentation.

Much can be accomplished during the first half of this week by our blending foresight with practical implementation.

Despite the backdrop of war drums beating in the background, we could be highly productive if we concentrate on what we wish to achieve and not allow the distractions in the world-at-large to impact our involvements.

It’s important to realize that the chattering class tends to focus on the negative, the blemishes and the ills in the world. Their commentary often comes from the comfort of their armchairs and at arms-length distance rather than a direct, hand-on approach. Stirring up anxiety and concern grabs attention, but the perspective remains Eeyore-like — nothing good, everything bad, nothing right, everything wrong.

Egads, are we really going to start the new year, the new decade by continuing this mindset of negativity? It’s hard to break the old patterns, old behavior and old mindset, and yet this year of 2020 talks to the master number, and master year, of the Master Builder. We can tear down the old and build anew. Or things can implode, fall apart or dissolve, thereby allowing us to rebuild on more solid foundations and fundamentals more akin to where we could be going rather than where we have been.

While much of this week can be highly productive when we may be extraordinarily effective, the weekend might challenge us to keep our wits about us. As if in a carnival’s fun house that really isn’t any fun, the weekend could severely challenge us. Falling into the depression of seemingly impotence would make us liable to playing the blame game, the victim card where all our woes are done to us and done by someone or something beyond our control.

Control, the buzzword of the old paradigm, no longer works for us during this paradigm shift when we are being asked to be co-creators with the universal unfolding and for us to take our cue from the energies operating.

Even if the weekend seems to have us flailing about on storm-tossed seas, let’s avoid a rush to judgment but rather allow things to unfold before making definitive determinations as to what is really going on or how we are going to deal with shifting sands.

These are times of transformation, times when we need to be adept at adapting and not be inflexible to the changing conditions and circumstance around us.

Monday, January 6th – Taking Care of Business – Venus, Saturn, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course. Monday continues with the Moon in Taurus with the Moon square Venus and the Taurus Moon completing its trine to the Capricorn-transiting planets with the Moon today trine both Saturn and Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for fourteen hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Taurus and before the Moon enters Gemini late in the day. This past weekend could have been a highly productive time of gathering the necessary ingredients for the launch of new projects, new activities for our new year. And this Monday can start in a similar vein, if we focus on our priorities and what needs to get done. That ‘if’ is a mighty big issue, for we could be pulled into someone else’s dramas or issues. We have a ‘can do’ attitude today, but it would be wise that we focus on what we need to get done, for otherwise we might find ourselves directing the efforts for someone else and taking care of anyone else’s needs. This is a good day to address the specifics and details of our engagements. With the liability of being all over the place over the next few days, this Monday may best be served by having a laser focus, taking care of business and not getting distracted by all sorts of other possibilities.

Tuesday, January 7th – Trusting Our Instincts – Mars, Sun, Neptune. The Gemini Moon today opposes Mars, and the Sun sextiles Neptune. There are times when we feel as though we have had too much of a focus on what is right in front of us and now feel the need to raise our eyes to the distant horizon. This Tuesday could be one of those days. Our interests may lie more in a wide realm of possibilities rather than concentrating on our priorities. We may feel as though we have had head done with our concern over the minutiae of our lives these past two days. Today is a day when we might sense the ‘world as our oyster’ with nothing discounted, everything considered. If we avoid rushing forward as the day begins and take the time to quietly consider what is important to us and what might just be a waste of our time, we could avoid running around, expending a great deal of energy and winding up going in circles today. Although our life is filled with a great deal of static thanks to the bombardment of incoming stimuli of sights, sounds, and sensations; it is essential that we take the time to reflect, contemplate, meditate on what we truly want to do on our journey. Without considering the true purpose of our life path, we may merely run ahead going helter-skelter with no rhyme or reason to our actions or our choices. This Tuesday asks us to slow down, think before we act, and trust our instincts regarding where to place our energies.

Wednesday, January 8th – Knowing Without Knowing – Neptune, Venus, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury. Wednesday continues with the Gemini Moon with the Moon square Neptune early in the day and the Moon trine Venus late in the day. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost ten and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Gemini and before the Moon enters Cancer early on Thursday. Mercury sextiles Neptune. If we are not bollixed by the vast assortment of things we could do, some of which may be suggested to us as interesting endeavors, then we can enjoy interactions with various people and consider our options for the future. A saving grace on this Wednesday is our ability to know without knowing. By listening to our inner voice and tapping into our intuition, we might find that we are following our path and engaging projects that serve our interests and benefit a larger purpose. We may have a sense of spirit in action whereby our involvements resonate with a deeper meaning for us. Tuesday and Wednesday allow us to combine our foresight and vision with practical implementation and the ‘right’ development of our plans. We just need to keep focused on the truly significant and not get seduced by the illusory, the fantastic or the sparkly. These two days provide the opportunity for us to have our head in the clouds, our feet firmly planted on the ground — combining the visionary with the workable. Evening get-togethers may be fun engagements with sprinklings of insights and interesting suggestions.

Thursday, January 9th – When it’s Easy, Why Make it Hard? – Uranus, Jupiter. The Moon moves into Cancer on this Thursday with the Moon sextile Uranus early in the day, and the Moon opposed Jupiter later in the day. The push – pull between things running smoothly and things being a little too much might be evident on Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday may have had some hiccups to begin the day, things easing towards the end of the day. The reverse could be true on this Thursday. Unexpected variables can grease our wheels to begin the day and make things unfold easily and smoothly. While our plans might change, the changes may present some interesting surprises. This is a day to change things up, whether we move things around in our space or just alter how we do things. We are looking to be more effective with less expenditure of energy. By being open and not get in our own way, fascinating events can occur. We do have to be wary that we do not get carried away with the ease of operations to the point that we choose to take on more and more. Later in the day, we could discover that we have gone over the tipping point and have committed to so many things that we’ll have a difficult time accomplishing them all. The question of balance and realizing when more becomes enough is a key concept to ponder.

Friday, January 10th – Not My Fault – Neptune, Cancer Full Moon, Lunar Eclipse, Sun, Mercury, Saturn, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Uranus direct. Friday has the Cancer Moon trine Neptune before we experience the Cancer Full Moon, a Lunar Eclipse, with the Moon opposed four of the Capricorn-transiting planets — Sun, Mercury, Saturn and Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost twelve and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Cancer and before the Moon enters Leo tomorrow. The Sun conjuncts Mercury, and Uranus turns direct. Friday through Monday can be a highly intense time, a time when we might feel as though the rug is being pulled out from under. Unexpected situations could be like curveballs coming out of the blue upsetting our plans and our sense of stability, security. We might feel as though we are reacting to situations, even to the point of feeling victimized by circumstance. It is essential that we keep our wits about us, hang on, and let the dust settle before responding to any changes that might come our way. What we see might not be what we get, but what we get may not be evident initially.

Saturday, January 11th – Getting a Grip – Uranus, Mars. The Moon moves into Leo on this Saturday with the Moon today square Uranus and the Moon trine Mars. Embracing the truth to the saying that ‘we never get more than we can handle’, this weekend could throw us some curveballs that might be disconcerting and disarming, at least at first. Friday might have had us playing the victim card, assigning blame to anyone or everything other than our selves. In deed, unexpected situations may not be of our making. But we still have to deal with changing circumstances when they come along. While things can be upset and normalcy give way to disruption, this Saturday could also find us tapping into our fortitude and determination to deal with whatever comes our way. If we would consider alternatives to ‘same old, same old’, we might engage our creativity to successfully address the conditions we encounter. Saturday is a day for us to get a grip, draw upon our skill set, and surf the waves, no matter how tsunami-like they might appear.

Sunday, January 12th – Crash and Burn – Mercury, Saturn, Pluto. Sunday continues with the Leo Moon, and we might need to draw upon the Leo qualities of self-affirmation, strength and creative abilities to withstand the intensity of this day and tomorrow. Various Capricorn-transiting planets are conjuncting, intensifying the power of the Cardinal Earth Sign. Today, Mercury conjuncts both Saturn and Pluto, and Saturn conjuncts Pluto. Tomorrow, the Sun conjuncts both Saturn and Pluto. The parable of ‘build upon rock or build upon sand’ may be tested today and tomorrow. There can be explosions and implosions with various structures and institutions rocked to their very core. If we can withstand the rocking and shaking, then we have certainly built upon the rock solid fundamentals of our very being. People can be depressed or behaving in extreme actions. Today and tomorrow could have us witness incredible intensities — earthquake and volcanic activity, devastating storm systems, violent actings out, and collapses of society’s building blocks that have shown their wear and proven outmoded. Let’s keep in mind that no matter what occurs on these two days, we are in a major period of disruption and transformation that demands we ‘adapt or die’. We as individuals and society itself are in an alchemical process of turning base metal into gold. The disruptions, stresses and strains and eliminations are all part of our process of transforming our ego focus through soul development into soulful expression.
