The astrology for this week of January 13th through the 19th of 2020 continues the highs – lows of these volatile times and asks us to maintain calm during the frenzies we might witness.
The week begins with us liable to feeling as though the wind has been knocked out of our sails or, more appropriately, as if we have been punched in the gut.
Evidence of implosions, explosions, crash and burns could give us the willies and a desire to find safety in our own personal bunkers. We might not want to start the week but rather would prefer to hide out.
Let’s keep in mind that during this paradigm shift many of the old stabilities and securities can be found wanting and might fall away. But like the mythical bird the phoenix rising from the ashes, it is essential for us to realize that out of the ashes of the outworn, outmoded and no longer relevant rises the new, the innovative and more appropriate to the new paradigm.
As the 12-Step program reminds us, it is important for us to ‘let go, let god’.
No matter what stresses and strains we might have encountered over the past weekend and on Monday, a sense of rebuilding could be engaged Tuesday and Wednesday.
Even if we feel alone, lost in our own space, we are never alone and never without assistance on our journey’s path.
Mid-week may experience a serendipitous encounter, someone who comes to our rescue, makes us aware of options we have not considered, and offers us ways to address our needs that are foreign to us.
While much of our focus continues to be on the mundane, the resolutions for our new year and the concern about making it safely through the twists and turns of this paradigm-shifting phase, we are also able to lift our heads, look to the possibilities of our future, and sense a spiritual calling of engaging our personal destiny during this life experience.
The weekend, a long holiday weekend for some, has my least favorite energy configuration for travel, and especially air travel: Mercury square Uranus. There can be disruptions and aggravations associated with travel, communications, computer glitches and unexpected monkey wrenches thrown into the spokes of our wheels.
The roller coaster of ups and downs continues this week, so let’s buckle up, look for the opportunities amidst the challenges, and try to enjoy the ride.
Monday, January 13th – Critical Mass – Venus, Mars, Uranus, Sun, Pluto, Saturn. This past Sunday and this Monday may feel like an incredible compression is happening. We begin the day with the Leo Moon opposed Venus. The Moon then enters Virgo where today the Moon trines Uranus, and the Moon opposes Mars. Venus exits Aquarius to enter Pisces, where Venus is ‘exalted’ and instills a greater sense of compassion. The major energy configurations on this Monday are the conjunction of the Sun with Pluto, and the Sun with Saturn. This past Sunday had Mercury conjunct both Saturn and Pluto, and Saturn conjunct Pluto. People might feel as though things that have been welling up need to be released. The liability to explosions, implosions and intense releases cannot be discounted. Like a volcano with pent-up energy, this day may have some significant emissions. Everyone may be highly critical, feeling as though something is under their skin and wanting to itch the irritant and get rid of a sense of malaise. Unless we maintain a calm attitude, we could be highly critical of other people, finding fault with even the slightest flaw. This is a day for us to find some way to alleviate any feeling of stress without losing it through erratic behavior or harsh retorts. While certain things may go through a crash and burn, engaging an attitude of non-attachment and waiting to see what might take its place would be suggested to avoid falling into the pit of worry, anxiety or despondent despair. Out of the ashes, the phoenix rises ever higher.
Tuesday, January 14th – Picking Up the Pieces – Jupiter, Neptune, Pluto, Saturn. Tuesday continues with the Virgo Moon with the Moon today opposed Neptune, and the Moon trine three of the Capricorn-transiting planets with the Moon trine Jupiter, the Moon trine Pluto, and the Moon trine Saturn. This Tuesday can be a highly productive day of rebuilding, attending to what needs to be done. If we avoid being distracted by fascinating diversions, we can address our goals with particular attention to the specifics and the presentation. Our ability of foresight and conceptualizing our plans can help us be highly effective and expeditious in what we wish to accomplish. This can be a highly productive day. After two days that might have been challenging at best, downright daunting at its worst, this Tuesday provides us the energy to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and start all over again. The intensity of these times allows for things to change suddenly, dramatically and in a nanosecond of time. There is an incredible dynamic going on. We just have to be aware as to when to move forward, other times when we need to hold back in order to wait for more favorable times of achievement. This Tuesday is a day to move forward with high potential for great accomplishment.
Wednesday, January 15th – With a Little Help – Sun, Mercury, Venus, Uranus. Wednesday has the Moon completing its transit of Virgo and as it does so, the Moon trines both the Sun and Mercury, both in Capricorn. The Moon then enters Libra, but the Libra Moon makes no connections to the planets today. Venus sextiles Uranus. We can start the day with a final thrust of energy to complete certain matters. We could be very adept as to figuring out what goes where. Although yesterday and today might have us with head down and focused on addressing our personal matters, we may also experience a serendipitous encounter whereby someone steps up and either makes us aware of how we can work smarter rather than harder or informs us of interesting possibilities we might wish to pursue. We could do the same for someone, assisting them to expeditiously deal with their situation. With unexpected situations arising, this Tuesday might also be a day when we could find some interesting bargains. Our focus today can shift from dealing with our mundane matters to being open to the wondrous and surprising. We may find towards the end of the day that we do not have to do it all, but rather we could come to the realization that unanticipated variables, whether people or incidents, often show up to ease our way.
Thursday, January 16th – Possibilities Better Than Realities – Mars, Jupiter, Pluto, Saturn, Mercury Aquarius. The Libra Moon sextiles Mars, and the Moon squares the Capricorn-transiting planets of Jupiter, Pluto, Saturn. Mercury exits Capricorn to enter Aquarius. Under the instigation of someone, we might far prefer to stretch our wings, explore the wide realms of possibilities, and negate our normal tasks. We can easily justify taking off today and doing whatever we wish to do, for we might have been highly productive over the past two days. One key factor to astrology is the issue of ‘timing’. We all know that there are times when we can be industrious and effective, other times when we might be procrastinating and we get little done. The key to successful living is to know what energies are operating for us and then proceed in accord with the energy forecasts. Even if we try to have nose to grindstone today, we might suffer constant interruptions or may find our mind wandering into vast spaces, the consequence of either is for us not to get a whole lot done. Our interests can be stronger geared to our future and our possibilities rather than our responsibilities or our realities. It would be wise to engage our prospects today, for they may instill a drive for us to complete our tasks in order to have the time-space to develop our new interests.
Friday, January 17th – Twist and Shout – Pluto, Saturn, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course, Lunar T-Square, Mercury, Uranus, Venus. Responsibilities can hang over us as we start this Friday. The Libra Moon finishes its transit of Libra early in the day with the Libra Moon square three of the Capricorn-transiting planets: Pluto, Saturn, and the Sun. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost five and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Libra and before the Moon enters Scorpio. The Scorpio Moon today triggers a Fixed Sign T-Square with the Moon square Mercury and the Moon opposed Uranus. Late in the day, the Moon trines Venus. Thursday and Friday might have us compelled to deal with mundane matters and our usual responsibilities. Our heart might not be into doing any regular routine today. For many of us, we’re coming to a long weekend with Monday a holiday commemorating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. If we can start the weekend early, we are likely to do so. Even if we try to attend to tasks, we just might not be too attentive to what needs to get done. Couple our inattentiveness to the liability of today and tomorrow being two days when communications can be off and computer glitches likely to throw us off task. Delays and frustrations may be much of the second half of this Friday. If we plan to travel or even with our usual driving patterns, let’s be wary of accidents and delays that hamper our movement. This Friday asks us to slow things down, check and recheck, and have a great amount of patience.
Saturday, January 18th – Check and Recheck – Jupiter, Neptune, Mercury, Uranus. Saturday continues with the Scorpio Moon with the Moon today sextile Jupiter, and the Moon trine Neptune. Mercury squares Uranus. This weekend, a long holiday weekend for some, might best be used for a good new year clean up and clear out rather than any major consideration of future intentions. Yesterday and today have the Mercury Uranus adverse connection, my least favorite for communications, Internet accessibility, and travel, especially air travel. Whatever we plan for this day, it would be wise for us to evaluate and constantly re-evaluate as we go along. There can be miscommunications, misunderstandings and a tendency to move ahead without fully taking into account the conditions and circumstances with an appreciation of the law of unintended consequences. What we see may not be what we get. The liability to disruptions necessitates our maintaining constant vigilance and focused awareness. If we let our guard down or assume that things will work out according to our plan, we might be in for a rude awakening. Today and tomorrow are good days to tie up loose ends, rid ourselves of the extraneous, and prioritize our activities, all the while that we are checking and re-checking as to whether certain matters are superfluous or are necessary for us to keep, even if stored away. Monkey wrenches can be thrown into the spokes of our wheels, so it would be wise to embrace the British affirmation of ‘keep calm and carry on’.
Sunday, January 19th – One More Time – Pluto, Saturn, Sun. Despite the Mercury Uranus adverse connections of the past two days, we could have also done a great deal of sorting, filing and cleaning up some of our messes. Sunday continues largely in that same vein, thanks to the Scorpio Moon today sextile three of the Capricorn-transiting planets — Pluto, Saturn and the Sun. We may have a laser-like quality today that clarifies some of the confusion we might have experienced the past two days. Today, we can prioritize, focus on the truly significant, and take into account the specifics of various matters. We might want to rid ourselves of involvements that no longer carry any importance to us. We have the ability today to see what is really going on, dissecting issues in order to concentrate on the fundamentals, consider the particulars and then determine whether we wish to continue with these situations or just let them go. A good new year clean up and clear out is warranted. Later in the day, the Moon moves into Sagittarius. Our attention shifts dramatically from a focus on the micro to a consideration of the macro. From compression to expansion with the likelihood that the latter part of the day finds us upbeat, looking to expand our activities and engaging a broader realm of involvements. The week may have started somewhat brittle with cracks in our structures, but we end the week in a ‘can do’ attitude with a greater sense of optimism and self-confidence.
