The astrology for this week of December 9th through the 15th of 2019 throws open wide the realm of possibilities and the samplings of various holiday-themed events.
This is a week when we might engage escapist tendencies to disconnect from the anxiety provoking matters that often seem just so much ‘blah-blah-blah’.
Despite the dour presentation of life that dislodge any semblance of security, this week may be a time when we are more likely to enlist flights of fancy. No parade rainers for us this week, for we are more likely to participate in the bright and sparkly and focus on good times with good friends. It’s the holiday season after all and not a time to descend into the hell of the negative and despondent. We can all see the half glass of water as half empty and not half full, but this week and this holiday season is a time to choose to see the half glass of water as half full.
The week begins with us in preparation for the holidays. We might be out shopping or at home decorating or joining other people in holiday celebrations.
Mercury ends its transit of Scorpio to enter Sagittarius, a Sign in which Mercury is in Detriment, uncomfortable, as the mind becomes far more diffuse, less focused, but also with a propensity to be more upbeat and curious than focused or critical. People can take on a more ‘la-de-da’ attitude about things. While we could become more oblivious to critical matters, we can also be more willing to walk on the ‘sunny side of the street’.
The mid-week period has the Gemini Full Moon. We may be more engaged in get-togethers, good times and looking to our future than dealing with pressing reality. Clarity may be lacking and we could find ourselves going from one thing to another to yet another. The fun may be in the broad palette of activities without staying too long with any one thing. Social occasions might reunite us with people we have not been in contact for a while. This time of year is often a time when we reconnect with friends from our past, spend quality time with colleagues and neighbors and family.
Just as we are nearing the end of the year, the end of a cycle, we are also having the opportunity of a walk down Memory Lane as we go through a recapitulation of past times with a cast of past characters.
The weekend can highlight exciting adventures. Some of us may choose to get out of Dodge, explore unfamiliar terrain or participate in new activities. We want to feel the thrill of living life fully, and we are open to the spontaneous and the unexpected.
The holidays are upon us, and this period of the year allows us to throw off the mantle of excessive worry to embrace the mystique of limitless possibility.
Monday, December 9th – Getting it All Together – Mars, Neptune, Venus, Saturn, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury Sagittarius. Monday begins the week with us geared to being productive, effective, and getting things done. The Moon transiting Taurus opposes Mars, the Moon sextiles Neptune, and the Moon trines three of the Capricorn-transiting planets with the Moon trine Venus, Saturn and Pluto. Late in the day, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for fifteen and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Taurus and before the Moon enters Gemini tomorrow. Mercury exits Scorpio to enter Sagittarius, a Sign of Mercury in Detriment, where Mercury is not too comfortable. We may have the gift of gab, but our thinking can be diffuse, all over the place, considering all sorts of ideas but with little depth or substance. On the plus side, we might be more cheerful and upbeat and less critical or jealous than we have been recently. This is a day for preparations and planning. We just need to avoid rushing out the door before we plan out our day. We can tie up various loose ends by dealing with outstanding matters, all the while that we are getting more immersed in holiday preparations. This is not a day to be wasted, for the rest of the week can have us juggling any number of things, getting lost in the flurry of holiday activity and with less of a desire to focus or concentrate but rather to enjoy getting caught up in the whirlwind of holiday celebrations.
Tuesday, December 10th – Get Your Motor Running – Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury. Tuesday begins with the Moon Void-of-Course as the Moon completes its transit of Taurus without making any further connections to the planets. Later, the Moon enters Gemini where today the Moon opposes Mercury. The early part of the day allows us to put finishing touches on some of our outstanding issues, and it would be good to use the morning hours to conclude and complete and tie up loose ends. If we don’t resolve certain matters early in the day, our attention to routine obligations could get lost to the thrill of the holidays until we get to next week and we have another sobering encounter. But the rest of this week might be geared to family, friends and good times. As this Tuesday proceeds and the Moon enters Gemini, we might find that our focus becomes lost to a kaleidoscope of interests and involvements. The Gemini Moon opposes Mercury, and our desire to engage as much as possible can know no bounds. Even more may not be enough for us, as we entertain all possibilities and even stress to come up with ever more projects, activities, and events to take part in.
Wednesday, December 11th – Obligatory Expenditures – Neptune, Venus, Saturn. Wednesday continues with the Gemini Moon with the Moon today square Neptune. Venus conjuncts Saturn. With this being the holiday period and the compunction towards giving, we might find ourselves considering what we have to buy or to do for someone that we feel obligated to. We are liable to feel resentment about this characteristic of the holidays — social occasions often with forced cheeriness and social etiquette of engaging people we would otherwise prefer to avoid. People may have an agenda, sharing holiday greetings with those people who can benefit them in some way in the days ahead. The more we can be detached from resentment or judgment during this holiday time, the less aggravated we are likely to be. Even if we have to be a caricature of ourselves and do a walk through of certain get-togethers, this time of year presents the opportunity of reconnections and reunions, and as a byproduct offers a good mirror of our growth and development over the years, as it shows us where we have been and with whom we have been connected in the past while seeing where we are and the people we spend time with in the present. During this upcoming holiday period, we might have to buy gifts for or spend time with people we rarely see, but we can also engage our own recapitulation of our past times and our past connections. We are coming to the Winter Solstice, the birth of the light in the darkness. We are coming to the end of the year and the beginning of a new year, a new cycle. At this time, we can look back over our past, disentangle ourselves in order to move forward in the new year, detached from obligations and impediments that would otherwise be like the ‘ties that bind’.
Thursday, December 12th – Holiday Rounds – Gemini Full Moon, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course, Jupiter, Uranus. Late on Wednesday, early on Thursday we have the Gemini Full Moon as the Gemini Moon opposes the Sun. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over eighteen hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Gemini and before the Moon enters Cancer where late in the day the Cancer Moon opposes Jupiter, and the Moon sextiles Uranus. Thursday is a good day for us to consider our plans for the holidays – what we wish to do, what we have to do, and the various people we wish to reach out to before the end of the year. We do have to be careful that we don’t put ourselves on overload with everything we intend to accomplish. Our plans might prove greater than our abilities, so it would be wise to prioritize. While Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday could have us running around, late on Thursday through Saturday we may be more attentive to our home and family concerns. We might spend time decorating our home environment and making it a warm and comforting space for ourselves, for our family members and for those we choose to entertain over the next three weeks. We may decide to move things around for our holiday gatherings, make certain changes and streamline our household.
Friday, December 13th – Wholly Night – Lunar Grand Trine, Mars, Neptune, Venus, Pluto. Friday has the Cancer Moon triggering a Water Grand Trine as the Cancer Moon trines Neptune in Pisces, and the Moon trines Mars in Scorpio. Mars trines Neptune, and Venus conjuncts Pluto. There is a great deal of emotion and depth on this Friday. We might not be able to express the intensity of our feelings today, but some people are likely to intuit our warmth and our nurture. There is a kite pattern chart to this day with a great deal of focus on doing what needs to be done in preparing our home for the holidays and giving ourselves a personal makeover. Whatever we engage today, we may do so wholeheartedly. Nothing is done in half measure today. It’s all or nothing. Relationships can be especially passionate with the extremes of love and hate employed. We might not fully communicate in words our feelings, but our feeling are likely to be clearly revealed. Those people we love we fully embrace. Other people, those we have little use for, may sense our cold shoulder as we cut away superficial connections and turn away from those people who offer little to our life’s enjoyment. While there can be an either or quality to this day, more is likely to go on within ourselves than meets the eye but little is lost to the perceptive.
Saturday, December 14th – Runaround – Saturn, Pluto, Venus, Moon Void-of-Course. Saturday continues with the Cancer Moon still feeling the Water Grand Trine exact yesterday but with the Cancer Moon today opposing three of the Capricorn-transiting planets — Saturn, Pluto and Venus. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for twelve hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Cancer and before the Moon enters Leo late on Saturday evening. Saturday may be ‘errand’ day, a day when we’re dealing with mundane matters, holiday preparations, and clean-ups around our home. We might feel this to be a ‘no fun’ day, but we can accomplish a great deal if we keep our intended goals in mind. While we could accomplish a lot on this Saturday, our intention might be to do what needs to be done in order to have time tomorrow to full enjoy ourselves.
Sunday, December 15th – This, That or the Other – Uranus, Mercury, Jupiter. Sunday has the Moon in Leo with the Moon today square Uranus and the Moon trine Mercury. Jupiter trines Uranus. We may be looking to engage spontaneity today. We are not so interested in schedules or expectations but rather focused on doing things on the spur-of-the-moment. This is a day for fun and adventure. We might change our plans repeatedly today, for we prefer the thrill of the moment rather than any prescribed course of action. If we decide to go shopping, we do have to be wary of impulse purchases, for whatever grabs our fancy we are likely to buy or pursue. And we could be generous to a fault today, so it would be wise to keep our budget in mind and our credit cards in harness. We don’t have to spend a lot to enjoy ourselves. Let’s embrace the excitement of the holidays, the free events that highlight this season of the year. While we may be looking for wonder-filled surprises and grand adventures, the beauty of this day is our being open and receptive to the magic and the mini-miracles of the paradigm shift into asequential reality where things can occur without any particular rhyme or reason. Magic is afoot and we are likely to be fleet of foot today.
