December 2nd – 8th, 2019

The astrology for this week of December 2nd through the 8th of 2019, the first full week of December, has a major Sign change, as Jupiter exits it own Sign of Sagittarius and enters Capricorn for its year long transit and in so doing intensifies the cold, restrictive, conservative Cardinal Earth Sign as Jupiter joins Pluto and Saturn in the Saturn-ruled Sign of Capricorn.

We may be entering a winter of discontent but need it be the dark night of the soul?

While much of our focus may turn to our daily, mundane affairs, this week is also punctuated with a certain searching, a yearning for meaning and purpose. We might use some of this week, even amidst the holiday hoopla, to consider where we have been and where we intend to go in the new year, the days and months and years of our future.

The mid-week period can find us astute and concentrating on what needs to be done and especially what needs to be completed before the year is out.

The latter part of the week could have us giving thought to what we wish to initiate in the year ahead. We are coming to the close of a cycle and approaching a new cycle. Old and new might be in our mind’s eye, with an appreciation of the importance of bringing closure and resolution to those things that we do not want to bring into 2020.

Over the weekend we are likely to put aside our responsibilities and engage instead holiday gaiety. Shopping excursions for gift giving and get-togethers with neighbors, friends and colleagues could have us participating in holiday events and especially those that are out of the ordinary.

Monday, December 2nd – Where Is the Love – Mercury, Moon Void-of-Course, Jupiter Capricorn. The week begins with the Aquarius Moon square Mercury. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for close to nineteen hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Aquarius and before the Moon enters Pisces early on Tuesday. The main and most significant energy of this day is the Sign change of Jupiter as it departs its near year-long transit of Sagittarius and enters Capricorn for its year-long transit of the Cardinal Earth Sign. Jupiter rules Sagittarius and promised a more upbeat, inspired and broader perspective, whereas Jupiter in Capricorn, and especially with the transits of Saturn and Pluto also through Saturn-ruled Capricorn, suggests a dampener, a more restrictive viewpoint with greater compression than expansion. Jupiter is in its ‘fall’ in Capricorn, where Jupiter is not especially comfortable. On the immediate, Jupiter’s entry into the Cardinal Earth Sign accentuates the Stellium in Capricorn that will go on for the next year, as Jupiter joins Saturn, Pluto and Venus in Capricorn. Responsibilities and obligations might determine our decisions and our course of action. This heavy emphasis may also signal a cold and bitter winter ahead. Although we might focus our attention on our mundane affairs, we can only hope that we don’t put on blinders that prevent us from drawing upon peripheral vision, the ability to see all around and particularly the perception and awareness of the magic and mini-miracles occurring during this time of paradigm shift from linear, sequential reality into the asequential reality where things occur in a most inexplicable manner.

Tuesday, December 3rd – Spirit in Action – Jupiter, Uranus, Mars, Venus, Mercury, Pluto. Tuesday has the Moon entering Pisces where today the Moon sextiles both Jupiter and Venus both in Capricorn, the Moon sextiles Uranus in Taurus, and the Moon trines Mars in Scorpio. Mercury sextiles Pluto, and Venus sextiles Mars. Sensing the impending end of the year, we can be highly effective today both in regard to dealing with outstanding matters and engaging our compassion. Our spiritual sensibilities may be heightened with the need to do something to alleviate the pain and suffering of our fellow beings. Perhaps we are feeling the prodding of the proverb: ‘there but for the grace of god go I’. This is a day when we can accomplish a great amount. We might feel driven with our mind astute and able to solve any perplexing problems. We can come up with ingenious means to do more with less, to streamline our operations, all the while that we are feeling good about what we are doing. We could come to realize that not all rewards are monetary but can often be spiritual, a self-appreciation for our assistance to the betterment of the world around us. This time of year often highlights the true goodness in the human soul, and this Tuesday may give us evidence of spirit in action. It’s always comforting and encouraging to bear witness to the worthy attributes of the human condition.

Wednesday, December 4th – Narrowing the Focus – Sun, Neptune, Saturn, Pluto. Tuesday and Wednesday and to some degree early Thursday are days when our spiritual qualities are enhanced. The Pisces Moon today squares the Sun, the Moon conjuncts Neptune, and the Moon sextiles both Saturn and Pluto both in Capricorn. Although we might prefer to do our own thing on this Wednesday, the inherent pulls of comforting and being able to help others may mitigate any self-absorption and instead have us looking to provide relief to other people. This is a day when the spirit of the season is more attentive to the needs of other people less fortunate than ourselves. We can count our blessings for all the goodness in our lives with a realization that we also have a duty to lessen the load of those less fortunate. Whether we engage directly or do so through donations and contributions, we are likely to feel a responsibility to help out and be of assistance. We could discover great value in putting our own interests on the back burner and concentrating on the needs of other people. As Pisces represents the end of the Zodiac cycle, today and tomorrow are also good days in which to tie up loose ends of this closing year and complete matters that we do not want to bring into the new year.

Thursday, December 5th – Push Pulls – Mercury, Moon Void-of-Course, Jupiter. Thursday is a day of two different qualities. The day begins with the Pisces Moon trine Mercury in the early morning hours. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for eleven and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces and before the Moon enters Aries where today the Aries Moon squares Jupiter. Making our environment warm, welcoming and with a dose of holiday cheer might be part of our early Thursday. By enlivening our home or work space we can create an impression of uplift and spirit so needed for so many people who are down in the dumps, depressed, and seeing the half glass of water more as half empty rather than half full. It seems as though the Eeyore syndrome has become quite contagious with few people seeing the beauty and bounty all around them. Even by minor touches and slight finesses we can enliven even the most dour personality. This mid-week period may have us champing at the bit to do our own thing, but doing what needs to be done might have a higher calling. These holidays are not solely about our personal gratification. They also suggest our responsibility to make the world a better place than the way we have found it and a better place by our being involved with it.

Friday, December 6th – Needs Be Damned – Venus, Sun. Whether we went out of our way for someone or for other people over the past three days or not, Friday has us more interested in doing our own thing rather than dancing to anyone else’s tune. The Aries Moon today squares Venus and the Moon trines the Sun. No matter what might be expected of us today, we are more likely to shirk our duties in order to do what we want. We may start the weekend early with the justification that the holidays are upon us. Even if we have to go shopping or decorating or do other holiday stuff, we are geared to doing something that appeals to us and that we want to do. This Friday could turn out to be a ‘ME’ day. We should avoid stepping on toes or rankling anyone. People may feel that we are being self-absorbed, but some of their judgment can be based upon the way we have behaved over the past two days when we might have exhibited greater selflessness and more concern for other people’s needs rather than our own. Today is our day and let the needs be damned.

Saturday, December 7th – Gone Fishing – Saturn, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course. Saturday continues with the Aries Moon with the Moon early in the day square both Saturn and Pluto both in Capricorn. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for sixteen and a half hours as the Moon completes its transit of Aries without making any further connections to the planets and before the Moon enters Taurus early Sunday morning. We may have errands to attend to on this Saturday, and we might deal with them but doing so with some resistance or griping in the process. We are closing out the year, and it would be wise for us to pace ourselves in concluding various matters that need to be completed before year’s end in order to avoid bringing outstanding matters into the new year. Even though we can be wrapped up in holiday celebrations, we still have mundane issues to address. Let’s balance our responsibilities with our festivities. If we leave things to the last moment, we’re liable to rush the closures and do so without the necessary due diligence to bring matters to a complete and clear resolution. This day and these times ask us to juggle any number of things, which often include the good, the bad, and the ugly. Let’s do what needs to be done early in the day, so that we can enjoy social interactions later in the day.

Sunday, December 8th – All This and More – Jupiter, Uranus, Sun, Neptune, Venus. The Moon moves into Taurus on this Sunday with the Moon trine Jupiter and the Moon conjunct Uranus. The Sun squares Neptune, and Venus sextiles Neptune. We may be in a highly expansionary mood today, generous to a fault, and open and expectant of some wonderful surprises. This Sunday could see people out and about purchasing gifts for other people and presents for themselves. We are looking to be rewarded, or rewarding ourselves, for good behavior. There might be an element of being unsure of ourselves and consequently we might be dependent on other people’s input. This is a day when we could be infatuated by someone or some thing and looking for someone to take the lead and handle the reins. The liability to impulse buying is strong today. If we do decide to go shopping, it would be wise for us to have a plan in mind, a commitment to our budget, and an idea as to what and where and for whom we intend to purchase. We can let ourselves go into the magic of this day, expectant even of those mini-miracles that are more evident nowadays, and fully engage and enjoy the spectacles of this holiday season.
