The astrology for this week of December 16th through the 22nd of 2019 brings closure to the autumn season and begins the winter season. And what a winter season this may be.
The week begins with us still feeling some of the magic or glorious surprises we might have experienced over the weekend. Our tendency to ‘go for the gold’ could have put a damper on our finances, as impulse purchases, over generosity and exciting events were liable to put a dent into our expenditures.
Everything comes with a cost, but the good thing about buying on credit is the fact that we don’t see the damage done until some time after the fact.
We are likely to start the week on a ‘high’, but as the week progresses we can be far more attentive to what needs to get done. With an upbeat holiday attitude and a willingness to be innovative in our methods, we can take care of any number of details in preparation for our holiday events and could still handle the specifics of our responsibilities, including tying up year-end loose ends.
We may be operating from a high level of nervous energy, but we can use our adrenaline rush to maximum benefit by juggling many varied activities. We just have to keep aware as to what needs to get done, the best way in accomplishing our projects, and avoid being distracted by the bright, shiny, sparkly things of these holidays.
The latter part of the week has two Sign changes as Venus exits Capricorn to enter Aquarius late on Thursday, early Friday; and the Sun ends the autumn season and begins the winter season at the winter solstice late on Saturday with the Sun exiting Sagittarius to enter Capricorn.
Our interest in relationships may veer from the traditional and helpful to the quirky and unique. At the same time, we are heading into a winter season that might seem cold and restrictive but hopefully not bitter or depressive.
Monday, December 16th – Ain’t We Got Fun – Mars, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. Monday has the Moon completing its transit of Leo and as it does so the Moon squares Mars and the Moon trines the Sun today. Later in the day, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for nine hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Leo and before the Moon enters Virgo early on Tuesday. Coming off what might have been a whirlwind Sunday, this Monday can have us stretching the good times into this day with continued celebrations and indulgences. People may be showboating with the idea that nothing is too good and that could present a problem. The holiday period often gives license to party, purchase and step away from the usual parameters of our daily life. Good times can be had, but it would be wise for us to ask ourselves: at what expense? Too much of a good thing can come with heavy costs, even if those costs are deferred until next year.
Tuesday, December 17th – Expeditious and Effective – Lunar Grand Trine, Uranus, Jupiter. The Moon moves into Virgo early in the day and triggers an Earth Grand Trine as the Virgo Moon trines Uranus in Taurus and the Moon trines Jupiter in Capricorn. This Tuesday could prove to be the primo day of this week and certainly as far as taking care of what needs to get done. By focusing today, we could accomplish a great deal. If shopping is on our mind, this is one of those days when we could hunt out some terrific bargains. This is a day when we might get more ‘bang for our buck’. Whatever we choose to do today, we can be productive, effective and able to operate in streamlined ways. Today and tomorrow are primo days to get things in order. We can tie up loose ends associated with outstanding matters, make preparations for the days ahead, and consider how we can be more effective with less expenditure of energy. We may feel as though things are happening as if on greased wheels — easily, swiftly and successfully. What’s not to like about this kind of energy configurations, especially when there are other times when we feel like Sisyphus rolling the boulder up the mountain only to have it roll back on us? Let’s embrace these days of easy rolling and not get in our own way.
Wednesday, December 18th – Slow Down, You Move Too Fast – Lunar T-Square, Mercury, Neptune, Sun, Mars, Saturn, Pluto. The Virgo Moon today triggers a Mutable Sign T-Square with the Moon opposed Neptune, and the Moon square both Mercury and the Sun both in Sagittarius. The Moon also sextiles Mars, and the Moon trines both Saturn and Pluto both in Capricorn. We may have a great deal on our ‘to do’ list today. Although we might want to rush out the door to start our day, it would be wise for us to put first things first. Taking the time to figure out our schedule, focus on our priorities and utilize time management skills would go a long way to keeping us from going round in circles or being distracted by fascinating but irrelevant matters. Tuesday could have been highly productive, and we might continue in a similar vein on this Wednesday. In order to be productive, we need to avoid getting caught up in the frenzy of these holidays. People may be running around, going helter-skelter, but the more we can keep our wits about us, the more we can successfully accomplish. We just have to slow things down, apply the brakes periodically and check to see how we’re coming.
Thursday, December 19th – Too Much of a Good Thing – Venus, Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, Mercury, Neptune. In the early morning hours of this Thursday, the Virgo Moon trines Venus. The Moon then moves into Libra where today the Libra Moon squares Jupiter in Capricorn. Mars sextiles Saturn, and Mercury squares Neptune. Thursday is a day when we might be more attentive to the needs of other people rather than to our own personal needs. The spiritual nature of this holiday season can make us compassionate and generous with a sense of ‘there but for the grace of god go I’. We could overspend today, or accommodate someone’s expectations or desires. Although our sensitivity is heightened, we need to be wary that what we see is what we get and that what we hear is a close resemblance to the truth of the situation. Hucksters might be on the loose, and we have to be guarded not to be taken advantage of. We might be so caught up in the frenzy of the season that we lose our discernment, dismiss our judgment, and in the process find ourselves a mark and exploited by any and all. Let’s avoid impulse purchases or immediate reactions, for second thoughts might think better of our spontaneous decisions.
Friday, December 20th – Will and Way – Mercury, Saturn, Pluto, Venus Aquarius. Friday has the Libra Moon sextile Mercury, and the Moon square both Saturn and Pluto both in Capricorn. Venus exits Capricorn to enter Aquarius. If we bought things or made significant decisions yesterday in the flurry of the moment, this Friday could have a sense of buyer’s remorse. We might have gotten caught up in the immediacy of yesterday with the idea that we had to have it, do it, now. On reflection today, we may realize that our spur-of-the-moment actions were not the smartest. Hopefully, we retained the sales receipts or made decisions that can be reversible, for with clearer thinking today we might recognize that what we thought was so demanding yesterday seems inconsequential today. Plans today may be delayed. If we are traveling, and with this Friday being the start of the Christmas week holiday, it would be wise for us to add on extra time in going from place to place. Everything may take a little longer as we enter the afternoon hours. The entry of Venus into Aquarius lightens our social involvements. Instead of responsibilities based upon past connections or what someone is able to do for us and any obligations to someone we might feel, relationships can feel a lot lighter with our interest in those quirky characters who march to their own drummer and who provide a reflection of a broader expression of personalities. The holidays are certainly upon us, and we need to prepare for the jam of gawkers, shoppers, and travelers.
Saturday, December 21st – One More Thing – Sun, Lunar T-Square, Venus, Uranus, Jupiter, Winter Solstice, Sun Capricorn. Saturday has the Libra Moon sextile the Sun before the Moon enters Scorpio early in the day and the Sun enters Capricorn to end the day, or early on Sunday. The Scorpio Moon triggers a Fixed Sign T-Square with the Scorpio Moon square Venus in Aquarius, and the Moon opposed Uranus in Taurus. The Moon sextiles Jupiter. The day ends with the Winter Solstice as the Sun exits Sagittarius to enter Capricorn and gives the signature imprint to the winter season ahead. One of the exciting characteristics, although often challenging, of these times of paradigm shift is the reality of ‘expecting the unexpected’. Things can change in a nanosecond as we move from linear, sequential reality into asequential reality where things can occur in a most inexplicable manner. As we prepare for our holiday celebrations, we might learn of an unexpected arrangement or addition that forces us to buy something or do something that we had not originally intended. This day calls for us to be sharp on our toes and adapt to changing circumstance. Things may take longer than we like with delays and frustrations thrown into the mix, but it is essential that we maintain a steady hand on the keel and not fall prey to playing victim. Everything will work out in the end, no matter the twists and turns of this day.
Sunday, December 22nd – Able Under Pressure – Neptune, Saturn, Pluto, Mars, Moon Void-of-Course, Venus, Uranus. Sunday continues with the Scorpio Moon with the Moon today trine Neptune, the Moon conjunct Mars, and the Moon sextile both Saturn and Pluto both in Capricorn. Venus squares Uranus, and Mars sextiles Pluto. Monkey wrenches could be thrown at the spokes of our wheels. Under the true and wise saying that ‘we never get more than we can handle’, unexpected situations yesterday and today can test our ability to be flexible, adaptable and capable of dealing with changing circumstances. We can do this, and we might even surprise ourselves as to how effective we can be under pressure. By concentrating on the basics, attending to our priorities and keeping sight of the big picture all the while that we are addressing the specifics; we could draw upon our grit and our determination to achieve positive results. As the saying goes: ‘where there’s a will there’s a way’. We are likely to have the will and can easily find our way.
