The astrology for this week of November 4th through the 10th of 2019 has us under the influence of both the Mercury retrograde and the Scorpio New Moon signature.
So, how has this Mercury retrograde been treating you?
For me, this Mercury retrograde coincided with the death of our air conditioning and several days before a new unit could be installed. South Florida is presently experiencing heat records. Without air conditioning, our apartment was 85 degrees during the day, with my study where I work several degrees warmer, and cooled down at night to 80 degrees. I felt like I was living in a sauna. I told myself that I lived without air conditioning when I was a lot younger, but I was a lot younger then and didn’t know better. The air conditioning was replaced yesterday under the Mercury retrograde [!].
On the Thursday that Mercury turned retrograde, the US House voted to start its impeachment inquiry of the US President, Donald Trump.
I also heard of various screw-ups that people encountered as Mercury turned retrograde — especially with travel.
My wife was on a street with three lanes on her side when someone in the far right lane suddenly decided to take a left hand turn and crossed in front of two other lanes of traffic. Later in the day, she abandoned the highway at a complete stop for a secondary road, which had bumper-to-bumper traffic.
Two clients in the New York area, both on different trains coming out of Grand Central, experienced major delays.
The first person emailed me at 8:04 PM and stated that their normal 59 minute train trip was now two hours and counting.
The second person emailed me and wrote that they took the 11:13 PM train to Greenwich and after waiting on the train for hours and two subsequent train transfers, they finally arrived home at 3:26 AM — a 4+ hour trip that often takes 45 minutes.
Perhaps you have experienced some of the confusions, delays, miscommunications that often come with Mercury retrograde. I hope not. We do have Mercury retrograde until the 20th.
With Mercury retrograde it is essential that we be extremely careful out there and recognize that Murphy’s Law is in effect: “whatever can go wrong could go wrong.”
The liability of intensity this week cannot be discounted, especially in the beginning of the week. If we feel frustrated or disempowered, we could lash out with full force.
This is a week for us to cool our jets, avoid knee-jerk reactions, and count to ten, or more likely twenty, before we respond to any situation.
The early part of the week could have us trying to get our ‘sea legs’ to the shift in energy due to Mercury retrograde, all the while that unexpected situations daunt us and trample our well-conceived plans.
Either we be flexible, willing to ‘go with the flow’, and adapt to unanticipated variables that might arise; or we are liable to throw a hissy fit, a tantrum that what we want is not progressing the way we would like with certain impediments blocking our way or dashing our hopes. Let’s keep in mind that our attitude is a large determinant in how we are likely to behave and can have repercussions on the unfolding of our activities.
If we don’t trigger intense explosions early in the week with all sorts of collateral damage, then the latter part of the week can be easier sliding. But that’s a mighty big IF.
The latter part of the week is suggested as a good time to turn inward, to reconnect with our spirit and spend time on our soul level. However we choose to do so, quiet times in reflection and contemplation could allow us to see a bigger picture and not get caught up in the minutiae of distractions in our daily, mundane life.
Regrouping and reinvigorating ourselves during the second half of the week may provide the thrust we need to get back on our track, concentrate on our own personal projects and take machete in hand to carve our own individual pathways forward.
This week can be like what the classic song suggests:
“Pick yourself up,
Dust yourself off,
Start all over again.”
This week may be contrary to the suggestion ‘moderation in all things’ with extreme actions instead and with whipsaws between intense activity and a quiet awakening. If we could modulate our attitudes and our actions, we are less likely to be affected by the crazy-making antics of other people or by the crazy actions on our part.
Monday, November 4th – Finding Right Connection – Sun, Mars. Monday begins the week with the Moon continuing its transit of Aquarius with the Moon square the Sun early in the day, and the Moon trine Mars late in the day. We might begin this Monday and the start of the week slightly disappointed in someone. Their comment or their action may seem to dash our hopes and make our prospects unattainable. While we could be taken aback by someone’s response, let’s recognize that our journey is not their journey. It’s important that we hold steady to our truth. If we over think a situation, we can devise all sorts of problems and issues that will prevent us from engaging. Any journey, any initiation of a project, begins with the first step. Even if we take that first step or those initial steps in starting up something, that doesn’t mean that we are completely committed to it if we find that it’s not working for us as we proceed. We can always backtrack or take a sideways trajectory instead of forging ahead. Why throw good money after bad? Even if we stall out early in the day due to input other than our own, late in the day a trusted confidante might make suggestions or encouragement and provide us ideas as to a ‘better way’.
Tuesday, November 5th – Finger on the Button – Jupiter, Mercury, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars, Pluto. Much of the energy on this Tuesday occurs in the early morning hours. The Aquarius Moon sextiles Jupiter, and the Moon squares Mercury. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for eight and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aquarius and before the Moon enters Pisces late in the day. A major energy configuration occurs with Mars square Pluto, another of my least favorite energy configurations which can incite acting out, physical violence, extreme outbursts and geophysical activity of earthquakes and volcanoes. We might start the day full of hope and faith, only to have it diminished by specifics and details. This is a day that demands we keep our cool and NOT react immediately to whatever appears to be going on. People can be a little over the top today, so it would be wise for us move forward cautiously and highly aware as though walking through a minefield. Knee jerk reactions are likely, and there can be extreme actions / reactions. After a liable blowup early in the day, the energy may die down and give us space to regroup, recharge and catch our breath.
Wednesday, November 6th – Trusting our Insights – Uranus, Venus, Sun. Wednesday has the Pisces Moon with the Moon today sextile Uranus, the Moon square Venus, and the Moon trine the Sun. The challenge for all of us during these times of paradigm shift is to trust our instincts, think outside the box, and not feel that we are solely in total control over situations. An interesting aspect of these times is that things can operate smoothly and easily if we just get out of our own way and allow things to unfold in a random, even miraculous, manner. This Wednesday could be one of those days when new doors open to us, new ways of doing things streamline our operations, and what we perceive as we begin the day may mutate in all sorts of different ways. We do have to be wary that we’re not trying to do too much on this Wednesday. With things seeming to operate as if on greased wheels, we could feel that we are insurmountable and able to take on more and more. Such a belief could prove our undoing. Fortunately, even if we take on too much, the universe will provide a pushback. We can do what we can do with the help of our friend, the universal unfolding. If we step off track or try to do too much, then there can be a major reversal of fortune to get us back on track. Late in the day, we could enjoy the comforts of home with an appreciation that we have both survived yesterday’s explosions and found a winning way on this Wednesday.
Thursday, November 7th – Awake, Astute, Adept – Saturn, Neptune, Pluto, Mercury, Jupiter, Moon Void-of-Course. If we didn’t get thrown for a loop earlier this week and were able to draw upon insights for our best practices approach yesterday, then this Thursday can be a highly productive day when we could accomplish a great deal. The Pisces Moon today conjuncts Neptune, the Moon trines Mercury, and the Moon sextiles both Saturn and Pluto both in Capricorn. The latter part of the day has the Moon square Jupiter just before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for ten and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Pisces and before the Moon enters Aries early on Friday morning. We are at the end of the zodiac wheel transit of the Moon as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces. By blending our intuitive sense with a practical application, we can conclude any number of things on this Thursday. Like cleaning up and clearing out, this is a highly productive day when we could prioritize our activities, determine a plan of action, and check off one thing after another as we bring completion to various matters. We are likely to be highly intuitive with a focused mind that can dissect what is truly going on. This is a day when may be awake, astute and adept.
Friday, November 8th – A Whole New Day – Saturn, Neptune, Sun. Drawing upon the beneficial energies of Thursday, Friday can have us putting it all together. The Moon moves into Aries to begin a new month-long cycle as the Moon transits through the Zodiac wheel. The Moon makes no connections to the planets today. Saturn sextiles Neptune, and the Sun sextiles Saturn, and the Sun trines Neptune. Friday and Saturday draw upon the energy shift begun on Thursday. While Thursday may have had us bringing closure to certain matters, Friday and Saturday could allow us to launch forward with new projects or to advance our long-term goals. We do need to keep in mind that Mercury is retrograde and be certain to dot the Is and cross the Ts. This is a time when we can easily blend our imaginative faculties with our practical application. We may find that we are largely operating from a sense of spirit in action. We don’t have to feel egotistical about what we are doing or how we are doing it. On the contrary, we might feel as though our projects have a life of their own with us being the facilitator to move them along. Thursday, Friday and Saturday can be highly effective and productive days.
Saturday, November 9th – Finding the Balance – Venus, Saturn, Mercury, Pluto. Saturday continues with the Aries Moon with the Moon today trine Venus, the Moon square Saturn, and Mercury sextile Pluto. There can be a push pull between expanding into new activities and being restricted by old obligations. We might be more interested in the new and different today rather than addressing what needs to get done. Fortunately, our mind is likely to be sharp with an ability of figuring out the most complex issues by breaking them down to the fundamentals and building from there. By focusing on the most significant, we can devise a strategic and expeditious schedule of events whereby we both deal with our errands and responsibilities, yet also have time for us to do some fun events and enjoy ourselves. This Saturday we could find the balance and cover most bases.
Sunday, November 10th – Unfinished Business – Lunar T-Square. Pluto, Mars, Jupiter, Moon Void-of-Course. While Thursday, Friday and Saturday might have had us humming along and accomplishing a great deal, this Sunday could be reminiscent of earlier this week. The Aries Moon triggers a Cardinal Sign T-Square with the Moon square Pluto and the Moon opposed Mars. The Moon trines Jupiter just before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for over nine hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before the Moon enters Taurus late in the day. Tuesday had Mars square Pluto, one of my least favorite energy configurations since it often indicates violent actions, bomb blasts, and explosive behavior. This Sunday may begin in a similar light. We might feel thwarted by our commitments and by someone’s demands. Details can be lost to a flurry of suggestions and possibilities. We have to avoid immediate reactions to situations, for we could respond more based upon our emotions and someone’s input than what would truly be beneficial for us. Even if the day begins on an intense note, we may shake off the pulls on us. Let’s keep in mind the old saying that ‘that you can get more flies with honey than vinegar’. If we don’t dig a hole for ourselves by being too extreme, too intense, then the day shifts to a far more optimistic, uplifting and confident tone. Maybe we have learned our lesson. Maybe we have taken a bemused attitude to everything that is going on. Maybe we have become more detached to life’s experiences. Maybe we have grown through some of our challenges. If we have employed many of these maybes, then congratulations for our successes!
