The astrology for this week of August 12th through the 18th of 2019 can see us winding down our summer activities and preparing for a return to our normal daily existence.
The week begins with us focusing on what we might need when we get back on track of our ordinary affairs. Shopping may be on our schedule as we ready ourselves for the approaching autumn. It would be wise for us to prioritize our schedule.
While we could get moody and emotional about a summer that is fast passing away, we need not be obsessed with our duties and responsibilities. There can still be times of fun activities and social gatherings. Let’s keep in mind that we are not in an either / or, black or white, life cycle. Life is a mixture, an attempt to find balance between the extremes.
We all know the 17th Century proverb ‘all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’, to which Irish novelist Maria Edgeworth in the early 19th century added: ‘all play and no work makes Jack a mere toy’.
A sense of balance and an attitude of equanimity are needed during these disruptive and chaotic times.
Although our society seems presently locked into a mindset of ‘with me or against me’, these times call for us to take off the blinders of a narrow mindset, see from peripheral vision, all the while that we appreciate the paradigm shift of letting go of control and instead working with the asequential reality where things can occur in a most random and unexpected manner. We just have to be open to the possibility of magic and mini-miracles — those incidents whose cause is far too difficult to explain.
The mid-week period up to Thursday’s Aquarius Full Moon may have us considering our future and seeking moments of pleasurable engagements with our special someone and with good friends.
We do have to be especially careful around Friday. My least favorite aspect for travel, Mercury square Uranus, could daunt us. It would be wise for us to slow things down as we come towards the end of the week, add on extra time, and realize that things might just get convoluted no matter the precautions we take.
The weekend can be a time of sorting through our things to see what we either want to be rid of or what we wish to store away for another time.
We end the weekend with a major thrust of energy, ready to begin the coming week with great strides. With Mars exiting Leo to enter Virgo, we might change our focus away from summer activities and get more serious about our daily matters.
The entrance of Mars into Virgo, followed next week by Venus and the Sun entering Virgo, triggers by Sign a Grand Trine in the Earth element that will continue on into early October. We are moving into a six-week period when we might embrace the suggestion: ‘make hay while the sun shines’.
The Grand Trine in Earth will support our efforts at manifestation, making our concepts real, and the ability to focus on the practical application of realizing our goals.
Monday, August 12th – Back on the Chain Gang – Saturn, Neptune, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course. Monday begins the week with the Moon in Capricorn and with the Moon today sextile Neptune, and the Moon conjunct both Saturn and Pluto. Later in the day, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for almost seventeen and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Capricorn and before the Moon enters Aquarius on Tuesday. No matter where we are or what we are doing, this Monday can have us forced to deal with the realities of our normal existence. Tasks and responsibilities may demand our attention, and we can either grouse about our usual obligations impinging upon our summertime interests, or we can suck it up and take care of what needs to get done. While we might feel down and disheartened, we could accomplish a great amount by considering our most effective and streamlined ways to take care of pressing issues. Nose to grindstone and addressing significant concerns would allow us to free up time over the next few days. Today is a good to resolve certain matters or make preparations for getting back on track. As the Nike slogan suggests, today is a day for us to ‘just do it’.
Tuesday, August 13th – First the Details, then the Possibilities – Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury. Tuesday begins with the Capricorn Moon Void-of-Course. The Moon then moves into Aquarius for the next two and a half days with the Moon opposing the Leo-transiting planets. Today the Aquarius Moon opposes Mercury. Hopefully, we took care of business yesterday — tying up loose ends and preparing for our autumn ahead. These next three days might have us more interested in socializing and focusing on our future goals more than our usual responsibilities. Let’s use the morning hours of this Tuesday to deal with any details that we would prefer to get out of the way. Cleaning up our messes would then provide the opportunity to concentrate on good times with good friends and put more of our attention toward creative involvements. We may change our perspective from what needs to be done to the world of our possibilities. This week can be a fun week bookended by dealing with mundane matters. The less tied to a schedule today through Thursday, the more we can take advantage of unexpected opportunities. These three days are geared for impulsive actions and engaging unanticipated options that might arise. We are likely to be in adventure mode and willing to join the scavenger hunt with clues coming from the most unexpected sources.
Wednesday, August 14th – Pretty Baby – Uranus, Jupiter, Sun, Venus. Wednesday continues with the Aquarius Moon with the Moon today square Uranus and the Moon sextile Jupiter. The Sun conjuncts Venus. Wednesday can have some curveballs early in the day. Whatever we have planned for this Wednesday, we may have to alter our plans. Now is a time for us to be open to the twists and turns of life during these times when our plans may not always work out but open the door to even more fascinating and intriguing situations. With a huge concentration in Leo now, we might be involved with children’s activities, focused on our own creative projects, or seeking fun events. There can be a narcissistic streak to us today. Not only are we feeling good, we’re convinced we’re looking good with a magnetic quality that puts us on center stage with swooning admirers. This is a day for us to present ourselves, to express our inspiring thoughts, and not to put ourselves on the back burner or in the back office dealing only with administrative tasks. With the Stellium of four planets in the Fixed Fire Sign, we have three days when we may be ‘puttin’ on the Ritz’, enjoying ourselves fully and looking like a ‘swell’. Let’s be careful that we don’t overspend or overextend ourselves. We could be feeling at the top of our game, but we also need to be certain of the conditions and circumstances in which we find ourselves.
Thursday, August 15th – Light of the Moon – Aquarius Full Moon, Sun, Venus, Mars. Thursday has the Aquarius Full Moon with the Aquarius Moon opposed the Leo-transiting planets of the Sun, Venus, and Mars. Late in the day, the Moon exits Aquarius and enters Pisces. Fun and adventure and engaging new beginnings can be foremost on our mind. We may be looking at putting our mark on activities with the recognition that today might represent the crescendo of our summertime. For some people, this day can represent getting back into their normal schedule. School starts, school orientations, end of summer sales could all indicate time to close down our summer activities and return to our usual routine. We do need to be wary of relationship issues and not create problems by being too self-absorbed and not taking into account someone else’s needs or interests. There can be a sense of ‘my way or the highway’ with a liability of discounting any input except what we believe to be right. We might be impetuous, try to move too fast. As a result of the fixity of this Full Moon with the Fixed Signs accentuated, we may find ourselves ‘blinded by the light’.
Friday, August 16th – Beware, Take Care – Uranus, Mercury. The Pisces Moon sextiles Uranus on this Friday. We also have one of my least favorite energy configurations — Mercury square Uranus. Today is a day when our emotions may take us down interesting and exciting trajectories. Let’s just hope that we are not led down a rabbit hole. We may be far more interested in doing things on a whim and going wherever the day might take us. Whenever making travel plans and especially with air flights, I try to avoid days when Mercury square Uranus is operational. This is a day that calls for; no, actually demands that we use the utmost care. Our mind could be operating a mile a minute with a rush of ideas and a liability of spouting off a rash of thoughts. We might ‘shoot from the lip’ and say things impulsively and react immediately without considering either what we have heard or what we intend to say. We could also have difficulties with all sorts of transmissions — our communication, our Internet, and our movement from place to place. It is important that we engage braking action today, slow things down, and not be driven by our emotions or our impetuousness. Backing up our work if using the computer, being certain that our discussions are understood and not misinterpreted, and taking into account possible unintended consequences of our actions would help keep us out of harm’s way. This Friday is a day to be aware, mindful, and take care.
Saturday, August 17th – Keeping it Real – Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course. Saturday continues with the Pisces Moon with the Moon today conjunct Neptune, the Moon square Jupiter, and the Moon sextile both Saturn and Pluto both in Capricorn. A ‘feel good’ attitude with an assumption that we are being divinely guided can throw wide the possibilities for this Saturday. Although we are likely to be confident and optimistic, we might have a tendency to overdo today. This is a day when we could easily have our head in the clouds. It is essential that we keep our feet firmly planted on the ground. While there is a liability for us to chase butterflies and pipe dreams today, if we restrain our flights of fancy, then we could use foresight and strategic planning to accomplish a great deal. The sense of making it real and keeping it real will be reinforced late today, early tomorrow when Mars enters Virgo and triggers a Grand Trine by Sign in the Earth element. Late in the day, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for eighteen hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces and before the Moon enters Aries tomorrow.
Sunday, August 18th – Back on Track – Moon Void-of-Course, Mars Virgo. Sunday begins with the Pisces Moon Void-of-Course and making no connections to the planets. As the day progresses, the Moon exits Pisces to enter Aries, and we begin a new monthly cycle of the Moon’s transit through the Zodiac wheel. Most importantly on this Sunday, late on Saturday, Mars exits Leo to enter Virgo. The entrance of Mars into Virgo is a prelude to next week’s entrance into Virgo of both Venus and the Sun, the former ending the Stellium of three planets in Leo and the latter triggering a Stellium in Virgo. The entrance of Mars into Virgo triggers by Sign a Grand Trine in the Earth Element with Mars in Virgo, Uranus in Taurus, and Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn. This Grand Trine in Earth will continue from now into the first week of October. We may be far more interested in getting serious about our life, dealing with our mundane affairs, all with the intention of achieving our goals.
