July 15th – 21st, 2019

The astrology for this week of July 15th through the 21st of 2019 suggests we not jump to conclusions but rather take our time to evaluate circumstance and conditions and then separate fact from fiction.

This week is the second full week of the three-week Mercury retrograde. How is this Mercury retrograde treating you?

For me, this Mercury retrograde has been convoluted and frustrating. Needing a repair to our refrigerator, we scheduled a service call with the home warranty service subscribed to. The ‘repairman’ was to be here between 11 AM and 3 PM. At 2:30 PM I received a call from the repairman indicating that he would be on his way over. His gruff and rather unfriendly tone had me looking him and his phone number up on the Internet. What I didn’t understand was how this person was a jack-of-all-trades. But any mastery involved? Not only was he an appliance repairperson. His name and phone number indicated that he also does auto transports and also has a Bitcoin exchange company. He showed up in an unmarked, several years-old jeep. He looked at the issue with the refrigerator, suggested what the problem might be but did not have the necessary equipment, minor stuff at that, with him. He arranged to come back on another day at a specific time on a specific day. That day came and went with any attempt to reach him landing in his voicemail with no return call.

A further call was placed to the home warranty service and a scheduled appointment with a different service repairperson was set. Time and date settled, again with an 11-3 window. At 2:30, I placed a call to verify the repairperson would be on his way. He informed me that he was finishing up a job and would be over shortly. At a little before 6, he called to say that the job he was on was taking longer than he estimated and that he would be over between 6 and 8 that evening. Shortly after 7 that evening, another call from the service repairperson saying he would not be able to come over that evening and promised to be here at 11 AM the next morning. By 2:30 the next day I was totally disillusioned and called to cancel the appointment. In the interim, I had scoured youtube for any recommendations as to how to address and repair the refrigerator problem.

Following the youtube recommendations, I was able to jerry-rig a solution and after several days my efforts seem to have successfully resolved the problem. I guess one could say that this is but another case of ‘necessity is the mother of invention’.

I hope your experiences with this Mercury retrograde have been less daunting.

For a client who travels on business virtually non-stop, this Mercury retrograde found him leaving his cell phone at home with much of the important information he needed for his trip to multi-cities. Added to the inconvenience, one of his many flights on this business trip was delayed seven hours.

We still have two weeks of this Mercury retrograde, so let’s be cautious and keep in mind that Murphy’s Law of ‘whatever could go wrong can go wrong’ is in effect.

This week of July 15th through the 21st may seem to start off slowly only to ratchet the energy up mid-week as we encounter the Capricorn Full Moon, a Lunar Eclipse, late on Tuesday. The past two weeks from the New Moon and Solar Eclipse on the 2nd have seen an uptick in geophysical activity — earthquakes and volcanoes — and intense atmospheric storm systems. The Capricorn Full Moon might present a crescendo of intensity with various upheavals, eliminations and actings out.

Relationships can be rather dicey this week with roller coaster-like motions of extreme ups and downs. Let’s not overly personalize other people’s comments. Some people may choose to vent their frustrations on those close to them. We might fall prey to infatuations with the sense of ‘the grass being greener’, but fantasies and illusions can crash and burn to the hard cold reality over the weekend.

This is a week for us to maintain a bemused attitude and not get caught up in the vitriol of these times. Seeing the perfection of natural law, stepping out of our everyday experience to embrace the majesty and beauty of nature, and meditating and reflecting on the blessings of being alive; all these and more could provide an antidote to the anxieties and concerns heightened during these intense and often crazy-making times.

Monday, July 15th – Streamlined Operations – Uranus. Despite the fact that we are ‘operating’ under Mercury retrograde, this Monday starts the week with us looking at how we can streamline operations and best pursue our goals in an innovative and effective manner. This is a day for us to ‘think outside the box’ and employ methods different from the so-called ‘tried and true’ that may have been tried but no longer true. The more we can start the day with a thrust of energy and feeling like we are independent and autonomous in our actions, our head of steam can accomplish any number of things. We might experience time today as a qualitative factor and not solely a quantitative measure. By being impassioned in what we are doing and feeling adventurous in our pursuit, we might find this day to be like riding on greased wheels, no matter the slight bumps in the road caused by the Mercury retrograde. Working with peripheral vision and open to alternative means can open the door to easy and effective ways to accomplish our goals.

Tuesday, July 16th – No Good Deed – Venus, Saturn, Neptune, Pluto, Full Moon, Lunar Eclipse, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. Tuesday can be one intense day with us feeling torn between what we need to do and what other people expect of us. This is a day when we might feel victim to the saying that ‘no good deed goes unpunished’. The Moon continues its transit of Capricorn with the Moon sextile Neptune and the Moon conjunct both Saturn and Pluto and the Moon opposed both Venus and the Moon opposed the Sun at the Capricorn Full Moon, a Lunar Eclipse that closes out the day. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost twelve hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Capricorn and before the Moon enters Aquarius on Wednesday. No matter what we do today, we might find that someone is critical of our efforts. Demands could be placed upon us and we are liable to feel overwhelmed by all the various loose ends that seem to entangle us and trip us up. This is a day when we need to shield ourselves from criticism and demands. It is essential that we not personalize someone’s critique of our actions. I always suggest that in any situation where someone is evaluating us negatively that we ‘check the source and check their agenda’. Everyone may feel put upon by the vagaries of doing life at this time and might seek scapegoats to vent their frustrations. As suggested often in the television show In Living Color, I would encourage their sentiment of ‘Homey don’t play that game’.

Wednesday, July 17th – Back Around – Lunar T-Square, Mercury, Uranus, Venus, Saturn. Wednesday has the Moon moving into Aquarius where today the Moon triggers a Fixed Sign T-Square with the Moon opposed Mercury and the Moon square Uranus. Venus opposes Saturn. We may find that some of yesterday’s intensity seeps into today. Relationships can prove dicey, especially if there were any flare-ups or sense of slights in our interactions on Tuesday. Although we might enjoy giving thought to future plans, we could experience blocks to our plans with naysayers diminishing our prospects, or by our own insecurities or our beliefs that we do not have the capability or resources to achieve our greatest dreams. Even if there are parade rainers to our proposals, ourself or other people, let’s not give into the fearfulness or anxiety. It is wise to keep in mind that any journey is begun with a first step. We need not make the first step but we can contemplate the wide realm of possibilities with the appreciation that if we can believe it, we can achieve it. Old connections or past issues might dampen some of our today’s intentions. Let’s deal with what needs to be done without allowing it to scotch our hopes for our future. We might need to tie up loose ends, clear the decks and clean the stables of our environment, but once we do so we have created space for the new and the different. No need to get bogged down by our past, but it may be important to provide room for our future.

Thursday, July 18th – Calling All Angels – Mars, Jupiter, Moon Void-of-Course, Venus, Neptune. Thursday continues with the Aquarius Moon with the Moon today opposed Mars and the Moon sextile Jupiter. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost seventeen and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aquarius and before the Moon enters Pisces later on Friday. Venus trines Neptune. The last couple of days, we might have felt burned, dissed, or just not having a great time of it. Various curveballs may have been thrown at our head. If we were able to duck and dodge the incoming, then we may have gotten out of the past two days unscathed. We can start this Thursday looking at a wide variety of involvements. We might feel as though the more we have going on, the less likely we’ll be trapped by any one thing or any one person. We could have the sense of ‘catch me if you can’ as we go from one thing to another to yet another. While our relationships might have gone south or at least soured the past couple of days, this Thursday allows us to see the idyllic in relationship, an infatuation that may be more fantasy than fact but a nice palliative to any slights or hurts we are liable to have experienced over the past few days. This is a day for us to spread our wings, let fly, and explore options we might not have earlier considered. There are times when we need an angel in our life, and this Thursday could be one of those days when we’re calling all angels. The surprising thing may be that one actually shows up for us.

Friday, July 19th – Taking a Powder – Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury Cancer. Whether we escaped off into Fantasyland yesterday in respite from the previous two intense days, this Friday is a day when we might choose to take a powder from our mundane affairs. It’s summertime, and Fridays in the summer give us license to knock off from our regular routine early, if we engage our routine on a summer Friday at all. This Friday has the Aquarius Moon still Void-of-Course making no connections to the planets as the Moon completes its transit of Aquarius and before the Moon enters Pisces late in the day. The retrograde Mercury exits Leo and backs into Cancer triggering a Stellium in the Cardinal Water Sign as Mercury joins the Sun and Venus in Cancer. Our thoughts may shift from our personal and recreational pursuits to a greater consideration of our home and family matters. Although we may have been slightly more brazen with our opinions over the past 2-3 weeks, a certain shyness could have us more reticent and less dramatic in our conversations. We might enjoy leisurely get-togethers with friends and family on this Friday.

Saturday, July 20th – Get Your Motor Running – Uranus. The Pisces Moon sextiles Uranus early in the day and imprints the day with a quest for adventure. We may not engage extreme sports today, but the idea of getting into unfamiliar terrain could be especially appealing. The more that we can have this Saturday as a blank slate with no commitments and no schedules to regulate our day, the more we can do whatever catches our fancy. This is a day for adventure, but by no means does it necessitate our taking machete in hand and carving our path through the brambles of the asphalt jungle. We do not need to get down and dirty in our explorations. This can be a day of relaxation, luxuriation, and downright indulgence. No need for justifications today, for we are far more interested in investigating and sampling. This can be a primo day, intoxicating, and highly pleasant if we allow ourselves to take us whichever way the wind blows. Some time alone today reflecting and contemplating could help make sense of the jumble of recent life events.

Sunday, July 21st – Hyper-Drive – Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Pluto, Venus, Sun, Mercury. After two days that allowed us to catch our breath, Sunday ratchets the energy up significantly. The Pisces Moon today squares Jupiter, the Moon sextiles Saturn, the Moon conjuncts Neptune, the Moon sextiles Pluto, and the Moon trines Venus. Venus opposes Pluto, and the Sun conjuncts Mercury. We may be driven more by our emotions today than by reason. Our imagination can be strong, but unfortunately clarity might be lacking. If we have felt hurt or have been harboring any grievance, we could come from a victim mode and react strongly but emotionally even to the extent of harming our relationships. This is a day when we need to avoid ‘cutting off our nose to spite our face’, for our tendency may be to misinterpret and then overreact. This day is better suited by soothing the savage beast of our moods by getting down by the water, listening to uplifting music or taking walks in the cathedral of nature. Anything that might quell our pent-up emotional energy would go a long way from alleviating the liability of overreaction. If we could put our emotions aside, get off the extreme moods swing, and instead utilize our intuitive sense for practical matters, we could accomplish a great deal. But that could be asking a lot when our compassion, empathy and sympathy are all engaged and constantly tweaked by everything and everybody around us.
