April 29th – May 5th, 2019

The astrology for this week of April 29th through May 5th of 2019 could have us feeling like brakes are being applied, forcing us to slow down and with us bucking at delays and trying to push forward nonetheless without fully considering the consequences of our actions.

The week begins with us envisioning our steps ahead but with the necessity of looking back. Saturn turns retrograde for a four and half month retrograde cycle. Past issues may demand review or reworking. Delays are likely, and we have to be wary of getting frustrated that things might be taking longer than we would like.

It will be important for us to consider and evaluate the structures of our life — both how we are doing our life and our physical body that might exhibit back pains. The literal ‘pain in the neck’ could also signal matters that are perplexing or convoluted and without easy resolution.

As if in defiance of the energies operating, we might try in mid-week to gun our engine, push forward aggressively without engaging due diligence, only to find ourselves hitting the wall, blocked and frustrated.

We might prefer to look toward the distant horizon rather than deal with present circumstance. We can be confident and enthusiastic about our future, our sense of the present less so.

The weekend gives us the Taurus New Moon, and starts a fortnight of seed planting. What we have to avoid is scattering our seeds to the wind with the assumption that our ‘right’ seeds will take while others will dissipate.

This week may be a roller coaster ride, but let’s try to enjoy the ride.

Monday, April 29th – Backing Up – Uranus, Sun, Saturn retrograde. Monday begins the week with the Pisces Moon sextile the two Taurus-transiting planets of Uranus and the Sun. By strategizing our day and week ahead, we can use our foresight to address both our needs and an ability to draw upon alternative means to accomplish our goals. This is a day for us to straighten things out and create a base of operations from which to proceed. The key element to this day is planning before implementing. Once we have itinerary in hand, we can be expeditious in our means and might find some interesting bargains along the way. Late in the day, Saturn turns retrograde. Things may not grind to a halt, but we are moving into a four and a half month cycle when things may take longer than we like. We can also find that situations we thought were resolved need some form of tweaking or reworking. A sense of slow down, as if trudging through a quagmire, might be frustrating but could provide the focus to re-evaluate what we have done and also re-consider our goals and ambitions. While we would prefer to move forward, there are times when we have to turn back. We are moving into a time of the Texas two-step with two steps forward, one step back; one step forward, two steps back. If we get a sense of the rhythm, we need not be upset by the push-pull of the next several months.

Tuesday, April 30th – Stay Grounded – Lunar T-Square, Neptune, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course. Tuesday continues with the Pisces Moon with the Moon today triggering a Mutable Sign T-Square with the Moon conjunct Neptune, the Moon square Mars in Gemini, and the Moon square Jupiter in Sagittarius. This Tuesday could be one of those days when we are all over the place but with little sense of direction or even of purpose. We might be trying to do too much with the end result of our spinning our wheels, feeling frustrated and exhausted by it all. There’s no reason for us to go there. Instead of spinning out of control, we may find that the Moon sextile the two Capricorn-transiting planets of Saturn and Pluto help to keep us grounded. While we might feel that we can take on any number of things today, it would be wise for us to prioritize our activities and determine what needs to be done and how best to accomplish it. This is a day for us not to allow our emotions to run away with us. There can be some wild mood swings today, and it would be essential that we rein in our imagination, since today we could see the half glass of water as half full and half empty with our perspective shifting repeatedly. Let’s stay focused, deal with one thing at a time, with more concentration on getting rid of things rather than adding to. Later in the day, the Moon goes Void-of-Course for almost thirteen and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces and before the Moon enters Aries early Wednesday morning.

Wednesday, May 1st – Possibilities, Realities – Mercury, Mars, Saturn. Wednesday has the Moon entering Aries, but the Aries Moon today makes no connections to the planets. Today and tomorrow, we do have Mercury aspects that can be like a bungee cord with us looking to expand our involvements but with a liability of situations snapping back and hitting us on the backside. Today, Mercury sextiles Mars, and Mercury squares Saturn. Tomorrow, Mercury will square Pluto, and Mercury will trine Jupiter. We have two days that can be very mental, where our ideas run rampant with possibilities only to be dashed by practicality or by our realities. Things always seem easier in concept and in the abstract than in the practical application and implementation of our ideas. Wednesday and Thursday of this week could prove the truth to this statement. Today, we may be gung-ho to start new projects, expand our present endeavors, all with an incredible thrust of energy. While our focus may be on the future, we have to watch that we’re not tripped up by our present responsibilities or by details that we’ve overlooked in our consideration. All things may truly be possible, but all in their own time. This is not one of those times. This day would better serve us as a day when we plan and give thought to our future endeavors rather than rushing ahead to make them real. Instead, we need to attend to our routine tasks and not feel flummoxed by the obstacles that might stand in our way. Entitlement and immediate gratification are characteristics that have seeped deeply into our society. Such dispositions can reap discontent and depression when what we want does not occur when we want it. Let’s address what we need to get done and allow ourselves to think about possibilities for a future time.

Thursday, May 2nd – All About Me – Venus, Saturn, Mercury, Pluto, Jupiter. Wednesday and Thursday of this week have Mercury aspects that can be perplexing with a tendency to encourage our expanding our interests all the while having us hitting the wall of our present responsibilities. Today, the Aries Moon conjuncts Venus and the Moon squares Saturn. Yesterday, we had Mercury sextile Mars, and Mercury square Saturn. This Thursday has Mercury square Pluto, and Mercury trine Jupiter. Today can be a highly creative day, a day when we can express our talents in whatever venue[s] we might choose. We are unlikely to color within the lines, and therein could prove a problem. We might be so taken with our own abilities that we are unwilling to hew to certain standards. We may be more interested in asserting our control, our mastery over conditions and circumstance. We can have the feeling that our potential should be unleashed without restraint. Although we are willing to go our own way on this Thursday and might even exhibit the actions of a rebel with or without cause, we have to be wary of blowback. If we are an audience of one and dealing in isolation, then we can do whatever we damn well please. Unfortunately, that is not often the case. By being in community, we are liable to have to refine our expressions, either due to regulations or by making our presentations palatable to a larger audience. Although we could hit a wall or several walls that might knock us back on our heels today, the latter part of the day reaffirms our need to be all about ‘ME’.

Friday, May 3rd – Right Timing Is Everything – Mars, Pluto, Jupiter, Mercury, Moon Void-of-Course, Uranus. Friday begins with the Moon continuing its transit of Aries with the Aries Moon today sextile Mars, the Moon square Pluto, the Moon trine Jupiter, and the Moon conjunct Mercury. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for eleven and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before the Moon enters Taurus later in the day where the Moon conjuncts Uranus. We are on the dark side of the Moon until the Taurus New Moon later on Saturday. As may have been our tendency and our liability this week, we could start this Friday with a thrust of energy only to bang up against impediments or responsibilities in our way. We can be enthused about what we intend to do, but the practical application may be difficult to achieve. The waning Moon is better for completions rather than initiations. We may have great ideas, the springtime thrust of energy and a desire to get on with things, but seed planting should probably wait until after tomorrow’s Taurus New Moon. Social interactions can be fun events so long as we are enjoying collaboration and see them not merely as platforms for us to express our interests but also take into account other people’s involvements.

Saturday, May 4th – Time to Plant the Seeds – Taurus New Moon, Sun. Saturday may be a blank slate until we come later in the day. There’s not a great deal of energy, but whatever energy we have it would be wise to use it to tie up loose ends and complete outstanding matters. We are still on the dark side of the Moon prior to today’s New Moon, and the Moon in Taurus makes no connections to the planets until the Taurus New Moon when the Moon conjuncts the Sun. This Taurus New Moon impacts the next fortnight up to the Full Moon on the 18th. We are moving into the time when we can take some of our intended plans and start to put them into action. This is a seed planting time, whether we are readying our gardens for the summer or we are preparing to implement new projects. We could be highly effective and productive just as long as we keep our eye on the ball, prioritize our activities, and not get distracted by various exciting diversions. If we maintain focus, we may accomplish a great deal over the next two weeks. But concentration could prove a little too much to ask, for we are still dealing with the Mutable Sign T-Square that has gone on since the end of March. We might prefer having any number of things going on, but the question will be whether we are able to keep everything straight and take care of all the details or whether we have bit off more than we can chew. Juggling only works if we can keep all the balls in the air. Let’s look before we leap, and take things step-by-step.

Sunday, May 5th – Cinco de Mayo – Neptune, Saturn, Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars, Jupiter. Over the past twenty years, Cinco de Mayo has become a celebratory day, a day to party and enjoy the camaraderie of friends. This Sunday is a day when we might have the best of intentions, but many of our plans may not work out. We start the day focused and attentive to what we wish to get done. The Taurus Moon sextiles Neptune, and the Moon trines the two Capricorn-transiting planets of Saturn and Pluto. The Moon then goes void-of-course for twelve and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Taurus and before the Moon enters Gemini late in the day. Mars opposes Jupiter. If we have made a list of what we wish to accomplish today and prioritized our intended activities, then we can be highly productive and achieve positive results. This is a day when we can implement many of our springtime projects, but we do need to focus. By concentrating on long-term goals with the appreciation that things may not provide us immediate gratification but that things take time to gestate, germinate, develop and grow, then we can avoid champing at the bit, trying to force issues, and when things don’t materialize quickly have us turn to other distracting diversions. This is a day when it would be wise to concentrate our attention, maintain mindfulness, and have patience. Everything has a life and process of its own. Should we try to ‘rush the river’, we might be prey to tsunami-like pushbacks. This is a day to avoid glossing over the particulars or trying to do too much all at one time. Far better today to take things step-by-step, attend to the details, and not get carried away by jumping ahead into a variety of involvements.
