The astrology for this week of April 15th through the 21st of 2019 is power-packed for new beginnings, infatuations and all with a heady thrust that could prove excessive and indulgent.
There’s nothing mild or mellow about this week. We are ending the Stellium of three planets in Pisces that may have had us moody and emotional since the latter part of February. We have major Sign changes that stir more of a fire in our belly as both Mercury and then Venus enter Aries. We are coming out of the ‘shadow’ of our last Mercury retrograde. We have the second of this year’s Libra Full Moon, the first being right after the Vernal Equinox back on the 20th of last month. And we have the Sun exiting Aries to enter Taurus.
The week begins with the ‘taxman cometh’. Monday is Tax Day in the US, the day that our federal tax returns are due. We also start the week with the sense of ‘easy come, easy go’ and a liability to excess and indulgence.
The early part of the week would be a good time for us to get a grip on our mundane affairs. With the new tax law benefitting some and costly for others, we might want to use the early part of the week to consider our finances — our budget, our expenses, and our revenue stream. Let’s not sugarcoat our financial picture. Living within our means may be an outdated concept during these times of easy credit and a willingness to take on debt, but as the saying goes: ‘If you dance to the music, you must pay to the piper’.
After a liable binge day to start the week, we can get more attentive to the details, the specifics and the particulars. We shall have to restrain our desire for immediate gratifications, but in so doing we could determine our plans for fun events and engage some good times without breaking the bank.
Although this early Spring may have had us focused on ‘ME’ with such a tendency to be ramped up this week as Mercury enters Aries on Wednesday and Venus enters Aries on Saturday, this week might also have us more collaborative, more considerate of what is going on with other people. We can be less myopic and take into account what is going on in the world beyond our personal interests.
The end of the week has the Libra Full Moon with the Moon in the last degree of Libra and the Sun in the last degree of Aries. The Libra Full Moon opens to a highly religious weekend with Christians observing Good Friday and Easter Sunday and with Jews observing Passover.
The weekend would be a good time for us to continue our Spring cleaning and clearing out in order to make room for the new and different that may be far more appealing to our present sensibilities.
Sunday ends the week on a high note of expanding our involvements and enjoying the company of other people.
Monday, April 15th – Then Let’s Keep Dancing – Uranus, Mars, Venus, Jupiter. Monday is Tax Day in the US, the day that federal tax returns are due. The Tax Man cometh, the Tax Man taketh. This day has the Moon entering Virgo where today the Moon trines Uranus and the Moon squares Mars. Venus squares Jupiter. Whether we are rushing to meet the deadline or acknowledge payments already made to the IRS, we might feel a sense of relief that our tax burden for last year is now behind us. In reaction to this tax day, we may embrace the lyrics refrain from the Peggy Lee classic song Is That All There Is?:
“If that’s all there is my friends, then let’s keep dancing
Let’s break out the booze and have a ball
If that’s all there is”
With the two ‘good guys’ of the planetary realm, Venus and Jupiter, in adverse aspect today we should not be surprised if we choose to engage a little indulgence today. We do have to watch for excess and not overdo. The liability of overspending today cannot be discounted and done all with the justification that we deserve a treat after the federal government beat and the tax bite we suffered. Impulse purchases could get the better of us, and more might be preferable to less, so let’s try to restrain our desire for immediate gratifications.
Tuesday, April 16th – Focused and Keeping It Real – Lunar T-Square, Neptune, Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto. Monday through early Wednesday of this week have a Mutable Sign Grand Cross operational as the Moon transits Virgo with the Moon square Mars in Gemini yesterday, the Moon triggering a T-Square today with the Moon opposed Neptune in Pisces and the Moon square Jupiter in Sagittarius, and the Moon opposed Venus tomorrow. The Moon trines both Saturn and Pluto both in Capricorn. If we don’t get swept away by the energy by trying to do too much and / or glossing over details, then we could accomplish a great amount today. The key to this day may be working with time as a qualitative factor rather than a quantitative measure. This is one of those days when it might be better to play the xylophone rather than the one note samba. Having several different projects going with focused attention on each one for a short period of time could be the best use of our energy today. We might plan out our day with a ‘to do’ list but with the recognition that we don’t have to go from start to finish with each project but can work on one, then another. The main idea is to maintain our focus but when our attentiveness flags to move on to another activity with the recognition that we can come back to the earlier project later on. This is a day for us to work smarter rather than harder. Perfectionism or distractions can defeat the day.
Wednesday, April 17th – Wrong Side of the Bed – Venus, Mercury, Mercury Aries. Wednesday begins with the Virgo Moon opposed Venus, the last connection of the Mutable Sign Grand cross that started back on Monday. The Moon then goes into Libra where today the Libra Moon opposes Mercury, which has just exited Pisces with Mercury moving into Aries. The Mercury shift in Sign ends the Pisces Stellium that has gone on since the latter part of February. It also ends Mercury transiting a Sign of its Detriment where our mind can be cloudy and our thinking diffuse and fuzzy. We have to be careful about how we deal with our relationships today. We might wake up a little critical of something that someone has done. This disposition may continue into the day as we consider how someone’s behavior impacts us. Our thoughts may revolve around our personal interests and our personal desires. We could have been incredibly empathetic over the recent weeks, although compassionate to the point of muddled thinking and maudlin sentimentality. Anxiety to the point of feeling victimized and with a heightened sense of fearfulness might have daunted us recently. The Mercury in Aries allows us to think more about what we plan to do with the intention of initiations and new beginnings. We just have to be wary that we don’t flip from a moody and highly emotional state to an arrogant and narcissistic attitude. Let’s keep in mind that balance in life is the goal and that establishing balance and maintaining balance are everything.
Thursday, April 18th – Good Friends, Bad Suggestions – Mars, Saturn, Pluto, Jupiter. The Moon continues its transit of Libra with the Libra Moon trine Mars, the Moon sextile Jupiter, and the Moon square both Saturn and Pluto. Suggestions and input from someone can be encouraging even to the point of urging us to expand and broaden our projects and activities. We could easily fall into irrational exuberance with a little help from our friends. It’s all well and good to be upbeat, confident and optimistic, but not if we are wearing rose-colored glasses and see all the good things and negate all the bad things. The liability of discounting the reality of conditions may prove a dangerous tendency with devastating consequences. We might gloss over specifics, deny various details, and avoid engaging our due diligence. Responsibilities could demand our attention and may be a blessing in disguise as they restrain us from going overboard on new interests or extreme actions based upon blind faith and wishful thinking. A dose of reality can prevent us from participating in bad suggestions. Today is a day to enjoy our ‘feel good’ attitude and balance our enthusiasm with a practical, down-to-earth approach. We might have our head in the clouds, but let’s keep our feet firmly planted on the ground.
Friday, April 19th – Heightened Concerns – Libra Full Moon, Sun, Uranus. Friday begins the day with the Libra Full Moon with the Moon opposed the Sun, both transiting in the last degree of their Sign. Tomorrow, the Sun exits Aries to enter Taurus. This Libra Full Moon is the second of this year, the first being in the first degree of their Sign at the time of the Vernal Equinox when the Sun first moved into Aries last month. Shortly after the Full Moon this morning, the Moon moves into Scorpio where today the Moon opposes Uranus. This is a day that brings a crescendo to the balancing act between our personal self interests [ME] and our significant relationship[s] [THEE]. While much of this month might have had us beginning projects, starting new activities, and engaging impulsive actions, we might have a sense of initiator’s remorse. Perhaps in our frenzy of ‘Spring fever’ we have taken on too much and could feel suffocated by all the stuff we have gathered to ourselves. Today and over the weekend allow us to do inventory taking, a consideration of everything we are involved with, with a desire to cut away the dross. A good Spring cleaning may be called for, as we prioritize our activities and rid ourselves of the superfluous. In eliminating things that no longer work for us from our lives, we create space for more exciting situations that are more attuned with where we are presently and where we intend to go in the future.
Saturday, April 20th – Right Fit – Neptune, Saturn, Pluto, Sun Taurus, Venus Aries. Back on Thursday we might have relegated our responsibilities to a ‘to do’ list, preferring to spread our wings and explore possibilities than to deal with our obligations. Even if we put pressing demands on the back burner during the week, this Saturday provides the energy to deal with what needs to be done in an effective and expeditious manner. Saturday has the Scorpio Moon trine Neptune, and the Moon sextile both Saturn and Pluto both in Capricorn. Whether we plan out our day or take things on the fly, things can fit neatly together. As if by osmosis, everything seems to fall into place today. Priorities seem arranged, and we have a certain sense as to how to expeditiously deal with what needs to be done and what we need to be rid of. We have two major Sign changes today as the Sun exits Aries to enter Taurus, and Venus exits Pisces to enter Aries. The Sun’s movement into Taurus can temper our impetuousness. ‘Slow and steady wins the race’, a statement associated with Aesop’s fable of The Tortoise and the Hare, may become our mantram as we slow things down, take things more methodically, and replace impulsiveness for a more plodding approach to getting things done. We are moving into seed planting time, a time when we could better implement some of our new plans, our conceptualized intentions. Venus moving out of Pisces and into Aries, a Sign in which Venus is in Detriment and uncomfortable, may have our social engagements more interested in what the relationship does for us rather than a compassionate, caretaking quality, that we might previously exhibited. ‘What have you done for me lately’ can be our attitude in our interactions with other people. It’s healthy to be concerned about our own personal interests, and especially after a liability of being self-sacrificing over the past few weeks, but we need to watch for any liability towards arrogance and narcissism. Today, things can certainly be a right fit.
Sunday, April 21st – Up, Up, and Away – Moon Void-of-Course, Venus, Mercury. Sunday is Easter Sunday, a day in Christian theology that celebrates the belief in the resurrection of Jesus the Christos from the dead. This Sunday begins with the Scorpio Moon Void-of-Course with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Scorpio and before the Moon enters Sagittarius. As the day progresses, the Moon moves into Sagittarius where today the Moon trines both Venus and Mercury both in Aries. No matter what we have to do early in the day, the latter part of the day can have us spreading our wings with us exploring new fascinations, anything that seems to add sparkle to our life and concentrates on ‘ME’ interests. If we can get out of town, we are likely to do so. Social gatherings can be fun events that reinvigorate us and add sparkle to our life. After being more introspective or focused on a possible Spring cleaning, this Sunday is a time for us to celebrate and enjoy the bounty of Spring with its promise of rebirth, renewal and new beginnings. What a great way to end a week!
