March 11th – 17th, 2019

The astrology for this week of March 11th through the 17th of 2019 can have us highly effective drawing upon proper planning and focused intent, and all despite the squirrely Mercury retrograde.

This Mercury retrograde, which started last week and continues until the 28th with its ‘shadow’ in play until April 16th, can be a tricky one. Not only do we have Mercury retrograding, but Mercury is retrograding through Pisces, a Sign of Detriment for Mercury. Beware of the tricksters!

Already, this Mercury retrograde has proven daunting. I experienced the Internet down for much of the day due to a localized community outage. Misrepresentation and strong-armed tactics by today’s snake oil salespeople have been used to gain accounts and win their commissions. Mood swings have been rampant with some people telling me, even fully believing, that they would prefer to be off the planet, as if their next journey would be some idyllic walk in the park or venture through a more pleasant dimension — sorry, ain’t necessarily so, they call it ‘karma’.

This Mercury retrograde is proving a doozey, and we are not even a week into its three-week cycle.

It would be wise to keep in mind that this time of year, the end of the winter, is all about endings, ending cycles before we enter the renaissance and rebirth and new beginnings of the Spring season beginning next week.

But first we have to get through the next ten days and doing so with a Stellium in the Mutable Water Sign as Mercury, the Sun and Neptune transit Neptune-ruled Pisces.

We may be sighing and mooning over things, but if we could keep our emotions in check, then this week could be a productive blend of foresight and drawing upon our intuitive sense combined with a practical approach to accomplish a great deal — both in the way of completions and preparations for our springtime. This week does have a pleasant blend of the visionary and the practical. Hopefully, we can use this combination to our advantage even in spite of the Mercury retrograde.

Monday, March 11th – Acting Smartly – Venus, Neptune, Mars, Saturn, Sun, Pluto. Monday begins the week with the Taurus Moon square Venus, the Moon sextile both Neptune and the Sun both in Pisces, the Moon conjunct Mars, and the Moon trine both Saturn and Pluto both in Capricorn. Monday can start the week in a powerhouse manner. There is one caveat to this day. You might know the analogy of the crabs in the bucket whereby as one crab climbs toward the top of the bucket, other crabs pull it back down. Something akin to that analogy could start our day. Either we could have a naysayer indicating that our plans and our goals are unattainable and only pipe dreams, or we ourselves out of our self-esteem issues may feel as though our ambitions are too lofty for actual realization. Posh! In the spiritual classic Autobiography of a Yogi, Paramahansa Yogananda quotes his guru Sri Yukteswar: “Look fear in the face and it will cease to trouble you”. If we would face our concerns, put our anxieties aside and plan out our schedule for this day, we could virtually move mountains. Today allows us to draw both upon our intuitive sense, our ‘inner knowing’, and a best practices approach to be highly productive. Once in the right gear, we can persistently plow ahead and advance our interests and get ever closer to the realization of our dreams.

Tuesday, March 12th – Completion Before Dilution – Mercury, Moon Void-of-Course. Yesterday could have been a primo day, if we weren’t sidetracked by our own anxieties or by distractions from someone else. Tuesday begins with the Taurus Moon sextile Mercury. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over six hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Taurus and before the Moon enters Gemini where today the Gemini Moon makes no connection to the planets. Whatever we were unable to conclude yesterday, this Tuesday morning would be a good time for us to do so. From a focused intent early in the day, our attention shifts dramatically as the Moon progresses. Rather than intense scrutiny, we are likely to throw wide open the realm of possibilities and even impossibilities in a dazzling but confused array. We could find ourselves talking up a storm, although keeping the topics more on a superficial level than an in-depth discussion. We might decide to explore endless prospects. Our curiosity may be piqued but our discernment liable to be minimal. Let’s do what needs to be done early in the day before we look to a broad palette of fascinating interests.

Wednesday, March 13th – More Than Ever – Venus, Neptune, Sun, Pluto, Jupiter. Monday might have had someone putting a kibosh on our confidence and our plans, but this Wednesday calls for wise counsel from someone who can provide a detached perspective and objective viewpoint to our projects and our activities. The Gemini Moon today trines Venus, and the Moon squares Neptune. The Sun sextiles Pluto, and the Sun squares Jupiter. This Wednesday could prove a Goldilocks kind of day when we get involved with too much, too little, or just right. The key element to this day is prioritization. It is essential that we figure out what the most significant and important matters to handle today. We might draw upon someone else to help us in the prioritization. Once we determine our schedule of priorities, it would be wise for us to keep our head down, take things step by step and not get sidetracked. The liability to diversions and assuming that we can handle more than ever could boomerang back and hit us in the backside with various costs to the point of our efforts all falling apart and down. This is a day for moderation in our plans, in our activities, and in our expenditures. Otherwise, we might create a real mess for ourselves that will be hard to clamber out from.

Thursday, March 14th – Crazy Before the Calm – Lunar T-Square, Jupiter, Sun, Mercury, Moon Void-of-Course, Uranus, Mars, Saturn. We may wake up on Thursday to some wild and crazy antics. Finishing its transit of Gemini, the Moon triggers a Mutable Sign T-Square with the Moon opposed Jupiter and the Moon square both the Sun and Mercury both in Pisces. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over nine hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Gemini and before the Moon enters Cancer later in the day. The Cancer Moon sextiles Uranus. Mars trines Saturn, and the Sun conjuncts Mercury today. We could be all over the place as we start the day with a liability of chasing pipedreams and illusory butterflies. A problem could arise with overconfidence and wrong thinking. If we would stay on course and concentrate on the truly important matters ahead of us and old matters to be resolved, then we might avoid chasing fantasies or engaging mirages. This is a day for us to deal with what needs to be done. It would be wise for us to use this day to rid ourselves of outstanding matters, pare down our involvements, and not go off on an expansionary rant that might lead us down a path to nowhere. Things simmer down late in the day, and we might choose the evening hours for something new and different on the home front.

Friday, March 15th – Daydream Believer – Neptune, Mercury, Jupiter. Much of the energy of this Friday happens later in the day. After a frenzied couple of days, we might be slow starting on this Friday, taking our time over a second cup of coffee or leisurely enjoying a cuppa. The Moon continues its transit of Cancer and the Moon trines Neptune late in the day. Mercury squares Jupiter. If we have been smart about it, this week would have allowed us to blend our intuition with practical application to get a great deal done in an expeditious and highly productive manner. The key phrase to that statement is ‘if we have been smart about it’. That might not have been our full reality, especially with a propensity to optimism to the point of irrational exuberance and a desire to prove ourselves beyond the breaking point. We may not have known when enough was enough. We could have overdone it, either in taking on too many projects or by being overconfident. An attitude of believing all things to be possible is a positive attitude, but if we have our head in the clouds, we need to keep our feet on the ground. Head in the clouds, feet on the ground would have been the optimum play for this week. Friday allows us to go off into fantasyland and we might enjoy conversations that revolve any sort of possibility or impossibility. We can be feeling upbeat, inspired and even embrace a sense that we are being divinely guided along our life’s journey. We still need to maintain awareness, be mindful, and watch for the signals along our path. But today can be a day for enjoying fanciful reveries. Could we call it a ‘mental health’ day?

Saturday, March 16th – Back At It – Saturn, Mars, Pluto, Mercury, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course, Uranus. Saturday continues with the Moon in Cancer with the Moon today sextile Mars, the Moon opposed both Saturn and Pluto, and the Moon trine both Mercury and the Sun. The Moon then goes Void-of-course for almost nine hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Cancer and before the Moon enters Leo where tonight the Leo Moon squares Uranus. Mercury sextiles Pluto. Sometimes, we just need a breather to clear our head and recharge our batteries. Yesterday could have been a good day for that. Saturday is a different energy pattern. Home, family responsibilities can have us going from the break of day. We might not want to get back into turbo-thrust after a more relaxed Friday, but this day can be highly productive if we don’t grouse about what needs to be done, plan out our day’s trajectory and utilize time management skills. This is a day when we might be highly astute and able to cut to the core of any situation that might have been perplexing. Our communications can be succinct and soulful and we’re likely able to get to the heart of a matter and provide compassionate care to other people. Late in the day, our mood might shift from the caretaker, taking care of our own responsibilities and other people’s needs. We may be more interested in a good time and something out of the ordinary. We just have to be wary of the expense of our fun escapades.

Sunday, March 17th – Everything Green, Deal With It – Mercury, Mars. Sunday has the Moon in Leo. Mercury sextiles Mars. Whether you are into the Green New Deal being espoused or not, this Sunday brings up the old Green. Yes, it’s St. Patrick’s Day, a day when everybody is Irish and wears the green. It’s a good day for the staple of corned beef and cabbage and boiled potatoes. And a Guinness would add to the flavor of the day. This Sunday is a day for fun and re-creational activities. We can observe the parades, take in a movie, gather with friends at the local pub, and have a festive time in whatever way we choose. While we can be enjoying ourselves of St. Paddy’s Day, we might find our conversations could take a serious tone of deciphering the best ways to accomplish our goals. This is a day for collaboration, get-togethers and sharing our insights and our camaraderie. They say that the greatest insights often come at the strangest times, and this Sunday might well prove that notion true.
