The astrology for this week of January 7th through the 13th of 2019 has us getting back on track from the holidays and getting down to business with our new year resolutions, thanks to this past Saturday’s Capricorn New Moon and Solar Eclipse.
We begin the week with some difficulty getting on board with our regular routine. We might be feeling the holiday hangover with a greater interest in what lies further ahead rather than what is right in front of us.
Even if we are slow starting on Monday, we have the Stellium of four planets in Capricorn to aid us in putting back on the blinders and focusing our attention on our responsibilities, matters at hand and our goals for the year ahead. This is a time for us to put our spirit into action with the recognition that each journey begins with the first step. We may feel that our new year is truly beginning this week.
A major Sign change occurs on Monday as Venus departs Scorpio, a Sign of Detriment for Venus, where Venus is not at all comfortable but can wreak secretiveness and jealousy in our relationships. Venus enters Sagittarius and our interactions with other people can be far more upbeat and scintillating. We now have the two ‘good guys’ of the planetary realm — Venus and Jupiter — in the Jupiter-ruled Fire Sign.
If we don’t get locked into the grumbly negativity that seems so widespread right now with people looking at the half glass of water as more half empty than half full, We could embrace optimism and confidence and appreciate the promise of the new year — new beginnings, new start-ups, begin again.
Although we can feel hampered by what we need to do and by any outstanding matters we have yet to conclude, let’s keep in mind that times of delay and frustration are also times when we might do the necessary RE in life of reevaluate, reconsider and rework. Not everything goes according to plan with the first impetus but often needs tweaking or scrapping the whole thing to start all over again.
The mid-week and latter part of the week may have our moods ratcheted up. Either we can fall into maudlin sentimentality or we could engage our intuitive sense to blueprint, strategize and devise a best practices approach. While we are likely impacted by our environment, by circumstance and by conditions, we can develop our spiritual practice of detachment, the non-attachment to what is occurring around us.
The end of the week and the weekend give us a greater thrust to concentrate on the truly significant aspects of our lives. We are not interested in ‘same old, same old’. We have changed, transformed and, besides, it’s a new year. We may be looking at prioritizing our activities and truly focusing on those situations that give us purpose and a sense of solid meaning.
The weekend could be a time when we might put our toes in the water of new projects, new activities, new engagements. We do not have to commit before sampling. If we find the taste of the new does not resonate for us, then we can try something else. We may be in a hurry to get moving, but we are certainly taking into account the direction of where we are going. As long as new situations really speak to us, we won’t be discouraged by any impediments in our way. We recognize the truth to the saying: ‘where there’s a will, there’s a way’.
If we have the will, the universe will provide the way.
Monday, January 7th – Catching Up – Venus, Mars, Venus Sagittarius. Monday begins the week with the Capricorn Moon sextile Venus in Scorpio before Venus exits Scorpio to enter Sagittarius and before the Moon enters Aquarius where today the Moon sextiles Mars. We can have a plan in mind for what we want to do on this Monday and much of it can be tied to getting back to our regular routine. Diversions and distractions might arise that are far more intriguing than our normal tasks. While it would be advised to do what needs to be done early in the day, the sirens of thrilling and unexpected incidents could pull us away from our obligations to seek out greener fields. Under the guise of taking care of what needs to get done, we might contact people at a distance in order to wish them a ‘Happy New Year’ and see what has been going on with them since our last contact with the ulterior motive of freeing us from our responsibilities. It’s hard to get back on track after a period of slackening off, so let’s not be too hard on ourselves if our concentration lapses and we seek to bail on some of our scheduled tasks.
Tuesday, January 8th – Here With Thoughts of Over There – Jupiter, Mercury, Mars. The Moon continues its transit of Aquarius with the Moon today sextile Jupiter. Mercury squares Mars. Similar to yesterday, this Tuesday can have us in a push – pull between our routine obligations and our desires for the future. We may feel restricted by what we are expected to accomplish, all the while that we would prefer to throw off the restrictions of our responsibilities and engage totally new activities. Even though our thoughts may be more focused on our possibilities and our prospects, let’s attend to our usual matters and give some time to making plans for a future excursion. If we keep in mind that getting from here to there necessitates taking care of business, proper planning and right timing, then we can alleviate any frustration we might have being here while our thoughts have us over there. Let’s self impose certain limitations to take care of any pressing demands with the recognition that once we deal with imposing matters we could give time to those things we wish to pursue later.
Wednesday, January 9th – Grass Being Greener – Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course, Venus. Wednesday has the Moon completing its transit of Aquarius and as it does so, the Moon sextiles Uranus. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost three hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aquarius and before the Moon enters Pisces where today the Moon squares Venus. We could start the day in an innovative and unique manner. We might do something different just to embrace the different. A certain sense of autonomy and freedom of movement can have us looking at alternatives to our regular routine. This attitude of independence and our not being tied to the characteristic might be encouraged by someone. It’s a new year and we could feel that it calls for new ways of doing things and doing new things. We aren’t interested in the same old costume or caricature of whom we have been. We want to express our uniqueness and explore new realms. It’s a fine way to start the day, but our confidence may waver and our enthusiasm sputter as the day progresses. Concern and anxiety about making the wrong move might bring a halt to our explorations or dampen our desire to spread our wings. Although we often believe that situations that other people are experiencing are far better than our own, the grass seems often greener other than where we are. We can make any necessary changes, but there’s no reason for us to make a mighty leap. Step by step works, somewhat akin to the Aesop fable of The Tortoise and the Hare.
Thursday, January 10th – Piecing Things Together – Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter, Neptune. Thursday has the Moon in Pisces with the Moon conjunct Neptune, and the Moon sextile both Mercury and Saturn both in Capricorn, and the Moon square Jupiter. This is a day when our intuitive sense can be heightened. We could easily sense the best ways to successfully accomplish some of our goals. This would be a good time for us to strategize and devise the means to pursue our projects. Things can fit neatly together today, and we might be surprised how things could be relatively easy as if moving along on greased wheels. What we have to be wary of is any tendency to take on too much or fall prey to over-optimism. When everything is humming along, we assume that nothing could go wrong. We then have the tendency, really a liability, to think we can do ever more. It would be wise for us to be content of small successes today. By attending to matters both in scope and in detail, we may be able to build success upon success. We just have to avoid getting carried away with ourselves.
Friday, January 11th – Seen the Light – Pluto, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. Friday is the 11th, a Master Number in numerology, where the eleven represents the visionary. It is fitting that this Friday has the Pisces Moon sextile both Pluto and the Sun both in Capricorn, and the Sun conjunct Pluto. Yesterday and today may be idyllic days for blueprinting, strategizing and getting our house in order. Our intuition is enhanced, and we have our priorities straight. The interesting aspect of this Thursday and Friday is that in our planning of our steps ahead we come to a realization of the vast changes that have occurred within ourselves. We might better appreciate that we have gone through significant transformations, that many of the shifts and changes in our attitude and in our interests are a result of a dramatic transformation within ourselves. By taking the time to reflect and contemplate on where we have been and what we wish to pursue, we might realize that we ourselves are concentrating on the truly meaningful in our life. We could come to recognize the true purpose of our individual journey. Instead of being swayed by stuff and ego considerations, we can get a great more real about who we are and what we are doing in this earth life. Many of the shakeups in society that have occurred and will continue to happen may seem merely static from the backdrop of circumstances around us. This is a day when we can cut through the crap and embrace our essence and engage our soulful journey. We might better see the light within ourselves. Epiphanies might reveal early in the day, for the Moon then goes Void-of-Course for much of this day with the Moon going Void-of-Course for almost eighteen hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces and before the Moon enters Aries early on Saturday. After early revelations, we may find ourselves mulling things over for the rest of this Friday.
Saturday, January 12th – Revving Up, Starting Out – Venus, Mars. We may be slow starting on this Saturday, but once we set into motion there may be no stopping us. Whatever ‘ah-ha’ moment[s] we might have gotten yesterday, Saturday provides the energy of ridding ourselves of much of the dross in our lives. We could have greater clarity regarding what truly speaks to us. Once we eliminate the outmoded and the non-functional, we can move forward in new pursuits without being hampered by the past. This Saturday has the Moon moving into Aries to begin its transit through the Zodiac wheel again. Initiations, new beginnings and starting out on new interests are all spurred on today by the Aries Moon trine Venus and the Moon conjunct Mars. Someone could prove an advocate for our new intentions. Even if we dithered around during the first part of this new year, sorting things out and concluding past matters; the entrance of the Moon in Aries can prove the starting gun of this year’s resolutions. We may feel the fire in our belly to launch forward and move ahead forcefully and with dogged determination.
Sunday, January 13th – Some Rain Must Fall – Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter, Pluto, Neptune. Sunday continues with the Moon’s transit of Aries. Today, the Moon squares the Capricorn—transiting planets of Mercury, Saturn and Pluto. The Moon trines Jupiter, Mercury conjuncts Saturn, and Jupiter squares Neptune. There is hardly any one of us that does not want to be on Easy Street where everything in our life runs smoothly with no complications, and we are endowed with good health, great happiness and boundless prosperity. Such an image is a grand concept, and actually one that does parallel our life experience. There are many blessings in our lives, and many of them we take for granted. There are also times when we stub our toes, when life throws us curveballs or when we step off our path. Often, our times of rain and pain are a result of our wanting to control situations, make life go according to our personal whims, and when our ego personality gets in our way. This Sunday might be one of those days when a little rain might fall to upset our plans. Saturday could have had us in full throttle, ready to take on the world and make it our own. Everything may have seemed like smooth sailing and everything seemingly perfect. Sunday could reveal the warts in the process, those bumps along the way, where our greatest intentions run counter to reality and hit the wall of restrictions. Past matters might trip us up, or our own self-adulation may trigger certain impediments. Instead of getting frustrated, down or depressed by delays and blockages, we can use this day to fine tune our intentions and determine whether what we are seeking is truly aligned with our deeper purpose. This Sunday is a day for us to whittle down our plans and consider those activities that have meaning for us but also serve a greater purpose to us than just self-aggrandizement.
