The astrology for this week of December 31st, 2018, through January 6th of 2019 can have us rushing out the door of the old year only to have us slam into the new year.
This week gives us the last day of 2018 and with it a thrust of energy to bring closure to the year and to race into the new year. We begin the week ready to out the old and bring in the new with its promises of beginnings, start-ups, initiations and limitless possibilities. Hurray, we all get ‘start over’.
Nice concept but our new year’s celebrations can hit the wall mid-week with us having to look over our shoulder and wonder whether our past is catching up to us. Some call it karma.
We might wish to engage new beginnings, but it would be wise to be certain that we are not encumbered by past matters or outstanding issues that could trip us up.
The latter part of the week may have some startling information, news that could alter our trajectory or make us aware of different approaches or new directions we could take.
Over the weekend, we have the Capricorn New Moon, a Solar Eclipse. While the past few weeks may have revolved around celebrations of the holidays, we might start to refocus our attention and concentrate instead on our resolutions for this new year — what we plan to accomplish and our intended goals.
Let’s keep in mind that just like seeds our thoughts and ideas create concepts and abstracts of what we wish to pursue and realize. We don’t need to know every specific detail as to how to get to where we want to go. Intention is the primary requisite for our advance forward. Especially during these times of the paradigm shift from linear reality to asequential reality, the visualization of our goals provides the fodder for the means to achieve our goals.
We may be considering our resolutions for the year over the weekend, but we also get a greater impetus to our increased desire for independence and autonomy as Uranus turns direct in Aries on Sunday.
Monday, December 31st – Done With, In With – Sun, Saturn, Neptune, Mars Aries. Monday begins the week and the last day of 2018 with the Scorpio Moon with the Moon today sextile both the Sun and Saturn both in Capricorn, and the Moon trine Neptune. Mars exits Pisces to enter its own Sign of Aries. Although much of our attention could be towards our planned New Year’s Eve celebrations, it would be wise for us to clear up some of the matters of this passing year in order to avoid bringing old baggage into the new year. A good housekeeping can be in order, as we look to clean up and clear out extraneous stuff and to provide a blank slate for us as we come into 2019. We might consider our resolutions for this coming year with the appreciation that everything is possible in concept and in the abstract and with the recognition that we are in the midst of a paradigm shift from linear reality into asequential reality where things can occur in a most unexpected manner and where even the seemingly impossible could actually be possible. We get a major injection for us to do our own thing with the Mars Sign change. What we do have to be wary of is too much of a good thing or getting overly intoxicated, even if that lifts some of our self-restraints and impels us to do whatever we want without restrictions imposed upon us.
Tuesday, January 1st – HAPPY NEW YEAR – Pluto, Venus, Moon Void-of-Course. Tuesday is New Year’s Day, a day when we tend to nurse ourselves and take some time to get going in reaction to what we might have done during our New Year’s Eve celebrations. This is a slow starting day without much hubbub in the world-at-large. This Tuesday continues with the Scorpio Moon with the Moon today sextile Pluto and the Moon conjunct Venus. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course later in the day for ten and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Scorpio and before the Moon enters Sagittarius Wednesday morning. Today might be a good day for a ‘time out’, taking the time to address the specifics and details of various matters we wish to conclude. It is also a time for us to consider our priorities in our days ahead. Things are moving faster than ever before with more thrown at us in a shorter period of time than in times past. Time management skills are needed. When there is a lull in the action as this New Year’s Day could be, it’s a good time to regroup, reconsider and plan our course of action with our priorities clear. This would also be a good day to catch up with those people that we had meant to contact over the holidays but just have not had the chance to do. Tomorrow is more of a day that we truly step into the New Year, so let’s use this Tuesday to complete, conclude, strategize and plan.
Wednesday, January 2nd – Fast Forward and Brought Up Short – Mars, Sun, Saturn. Wednesday has the Moon moving into Sagittarius where today the Moon trines Mars. We may be fast out of the gate as we start this Wednesday, the first day after the New Year’s holiday. We are likely to be in an expansionary frame of mind, ready to put our resolutions for the year into effect. We are feeling confident about our prospects and prepared to forge ahead, even if in advancing forward means our going it alone. Unfortunately, our confidence and optimism could hit a wall thanks to the Sun conjunct Saturn. If we have not taken care of outstanding matters that would have been better resolved last year or matters we thought were concluded but with loose ends to address, we could be brought up short in our forward movements and forced to take a step[s] back to resolve old issues. We might feel buoyed by our prospects but questioning our capability to carry off our grand intentions. Even if we feel queasy in starting new projects, let’s keep in mind that the paradigm shift is about us being co-creators with the universal energies and no longer the assumption [and a false belief at that] that we are masters of our destiny. If we trust our journey and maintain mindfulness, then we can proceed with faith that the specifics of our journey will be revealed. Every journey begins with a first step, and this Wednesday would allow us to take that first step even if we do so hesitantly.
Thursday, January 3rd – Confidence with Diligence – Jupiter, Neptune. Yesterday might have had us wanting to initiate our plans for the new year but second-guessing ourselves as to whether we are making the right moves or not. Thursday gives us a thrust of energy, a sense of optimism, confidence and enthusiasm to spread our wings. The Sagittarius Moon today conjuncts Jupiter and the Moon squares Neptune. Although we may feel encouraged to expand our activities, it would be wise for us to have a plan of action regarding our intentions. Otherwise, we might start out with a sense that all will be revealed. Revelations could be likely, especially tomorrow, but this Thursday calls for a consideration of where we want to go and how we choose to get there. Otherwise, our exuberance can be wasted by our spinning our wheels or like a dog chasing its tail with us just going around in circles. This is a day for us to put the horse before the cart and figure out our direction and our itinerary for the day. Let’s also keep aware that we are still in the waning Moon phase, a time that is far better served in completions and strategizing rather than initiating and implementing. We can get our motor running, but no need to head out on the highway.
Friday, January 4th – These Magic Moments – Uranus, Mercury, Mars, Sun, Neptune, Mercury Capricorn. Friday has the Moon finishing its transit of Sagittarius and entering Capricorn. The Moon in Sagittarius today trines Uranus and the Moon conjuncts Mercury. The Moon in Capricorn squares Mars. Mercury trines Uranus just before Mercury exits Sagittarius to enter Capricorn. With Mercury entering Capricorn, Mercury reinforces the Capricorn Stellium with Mercury joining the Sun, Saturn and Pluto all in the Cardinal Earth Sign and just prior to tomorrow’s Capricorn New Moon. The Sun sextiles Neptune. The potential for ‘ah-ha’ moments, those flashes of inspiration that come quickly and go so quickly, can be part of this Friday. We may feel as though we have fully engaged an altered reality, a reality where everything falls into place in a most quizzical manner. This is a day for us to have our antennae up, for we could learn some interesting information, gain some startling insights. While we may feel embraced by magic and mini-miracles, the question as to what to do with them is key. If we try to go too far too fast, we could find ourselves banging up against a wall. Let’s keep in mind that we are on the dark side of the Moon prior to tomorrow’s New Moon with us today still in a waning Moon phase. Today is a day to notate new information and possible options for us but not to act upon them. The New Moon tomorrow can provide the starting gun of getting our act together for the year and getting serious about our goals and intentions.
Saturday, January 5th – Let the Games Begin, Methodically – Saturn, Neptune, Capricorn New Moon, Solar Eclipse, Sun. The Capricorn Moon conjuncts Saturn, the Moon sextiles Neptune, and the Moon conjuncts the Sun at the Capricorn New Moon, a Solar Eclipse. This is the first New Moon of the winter season and heralds the true beginning of a new year and a time when we can get serious about our goals and ambitions and fully engage our resolutions for this new year of 2019. If we would trust our instincts, we might be cleverly guided in how to devise a best practices template in order to realize our long-term plans. This Saturday and this forthcoming two-week period is geared to focusing not only on our plans and how best to develop them, but also takes into account how we can most effectively progress with style and flair. We are looking to complement substance with appearance, so that the image of what we are doing is strongly backed up by the content. There is no need to ‘rush the river’ and force our hand. This is a time, despite the frenzied antics of the rapidly accelerating pace of life, to take our time, go slow, and be certain that we are building upon rock and not upon sand. The New Year has begun, and we can engage the rhythm, sometimes slow like now, and other times at a very fast clip. It’s all about being in synch with the natural rhythm and the universal unfolding.
Sunday, January 6th – Looking to the Summit – Pluto, Uranus, Uranus direct. Sunday continues with the Capricorn Moon with the Moon today conjunct Pluto and the Moon square Uranus, shortly after Uranus turned direct and ended its five-month retrograde cycle. Even if we feel at the base of our operations, the trigger of yesterday’s New Moon and with Uranus direct, this Sunday provides us with the wherewithal to prioritize our activities and focus on our most significant projects. We are looking to the summit, considering the goals of our efforts and ready to do the work, hard or easy, of getting to where we want to arrive. We may have an increased desire to do things on our own terms, to be more autonomous in our involvements, and to have greater independence in our choices and decision-making. What we have to be wary of is feeling like we’re a law unto ourselves and thereby negate all the standards, conventions, even regulations, in our moving ahead. The challenge of these times, incredibly dynamic times with wild swings between extremes, is to maintain balance. We can do what we want to do and the way we might choose to do it, but it is essential that we keep aware of the parameters, the circumstances and the conditions in which we operate. We are ready for the journey, hopefully with direction and itinerary in mind. Now is the time for stepping ahead.
