December 10th – 16th, 2018

The astrology for this week of December 10th through the 16th of 2018, the last full week of the autumn season and the first full week of Mercury direct after the three-week Mercury retrograde, can have us focused on social gatherings with a sense of holiday merry-making and the hope that better days are yet to come.

We may begin the week taking care of preparations and addressing the specifics of our plans for the holidays, plans for the new year, and plans for new adventures for ourselves. We could be in a ‘get ‘er done’ type of mode, tying up loose ends, straightening any screw-ups that might have occurred over the past few weeks, and readying for the conclusion of this year. We may all be ready to wish this year of 2018 ‘goodbye’ with the hope, belief and promise that the new year ahead is a far better, brighter and lighter one.

A sense of optimism can be engendered thanks to Mercury coming back into Sagittarius, thereby retriggering the Stellium of three planets in the Fire Mutable Sign as Mercury joins the Sun and Jupiter in Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius. Mercury’s entrance into Sagittarius has Mercury entering a Sign of its Detriment, where our mind can become too diffuse, too broad in perspective with a liability of losing due diligence and intense scrutiny. We have to be wary that we don’t enter a fool’s paradise where we have the assumption that things will occur solely because we will them so.

The latter part of the week may have us taking on a more spiritual tone, engaging our compassion with consideration of those less fortunate than ourselves. We can truly feel other people’s pain. What we do with such a feeling will be our choice, but it would be important for us not to fall into a victim mode or fall prey to a sense of powerlessness. Even keeping an upbeat attitude with the power of prayer for better conditions for all beings and for the earth environment can be a powerful antidote to the negativity and darkness that casts a pall over the landscape.

The weekend provides the energy for us to bring completion to matters we wish to conclude prior to the new year and gives us a sense of new beginnings. As we close doors, we can open new doors, and such a disposition is pertinent to this time of year — ending one year and preparing for the start of a new year.

Whether we make our resolutions for the year ahead or allow it to unfold in its own natural way, we are looking to free ourselves of outstanding issues that have no relevance to our present, much less our future.

The weekend can be a time of both reflection and celebration. Brief interludes when we consider who we are, what we are doing and where we are going could clarify the direction and itinerary of our journey in the days ahead. Get-togethers with family and friends whether in person or by reaching out across the miles by phone, email or text, may reinforce our sense of optimism and confidence in our future as we offer one another good tidings and well wishes.

Monday, December 10th – Ready, Set, Go – Mercury, Uranus. Monday begins the week with the Capricorn Moon sextile Mercury and the Moon square Uranus before the Moon exits Capricorn late in the day to enter Aquarius. This is a day when we can take care of specifics and address the details without allowing anything to fall between the cracks. We are likely to be highly astute and may have our nose to the grindstone as we deal with particulars. Our focus may be less on the big picture and concentrating more on the ingredients that make up the whole. We can accomplish a great deal in a short period of time, but as the day proceeds we might balk at continuing in such a vein. The energy shifts dramatically as we feel our detail-oriented obsession is also giving us a sense of clipping our wings. Although we could feel as though our personal interests are being undermined by our responsibilities, the end of the day frees us up to do whatever we choose to do. We might not have completed all that we intended for this day, but the more we accomplish during the earlier part of the day, the less we shall leave on the table to be completed at some other time. The evening hours are geared more to giving thought to our future and considering our friends.

Tuesday, December 11th – Flourish of Generosity – Venus, Jupiter. Tuesday has the Aquarius Moon square Venus, and the Moon sextile Jupiter. If we have offended someone or not shown our appreciation for their friendship, this Tuesday could find us going out of our way to prove our recognition of how important, even essential, they are to our life and to our well-being. In the process, we might exhibit extravagance and excess. We may feel that nothing is too much to make amends or to affirm our connection with the other person, other people. This is a day when we can be generous to a fault. Although we could focus more on the immediate rather than the long-term, it would be wise for us to consider the short-term response, long-term implications and the liability to the law of unintended consequences. There are times when heart-felt sentiments expressed are worth a great deal more than showering gifts and stuff on another person. Sincerity is often the determining factor in how things are received. However we choose to present our gratitude to someone, let’s keep in mind our financial situation and not get swept up into the hype of the season by spending more than would be comfortable for our budgeting.

Wednesday, December 12th – Flavored with Sweetness – Sun, Mercury Sagittarius. Wednesday continues with the Aquarius Moon with the Moon today sextile the Sun. Mercury exits Scorpio to enter Sagittarius, thereby reengaging the Stellium of three planets as Mercury joins the Sun and Jupiter in the Mutable Fire Sign. We might feel more together today, as though everything is coming together and that we are operating on all cylinders firing. Our creative juices are flowing and our interactions with other people may be scintillating, uplifting and life affirming. No parade rainers for us today. We are looking at walking on the sunny side of the street. Optimism and confidence can be contagious with people feeling good about possibilities and prospects. Harsh realities are beyond our perspective, for we are likely to be only looking at the good things in our life. While such an attitude is to be complimented and encouraged, we have to be wary that we don’t buy solely into the images and the ‘feel good’ attitude. Our critical analysis could be lacking as we prefer to look only at the good things, often times the illusions and delusions of images and appearance. This is a day for us to enjoy and engage an upbeat disposition but not a day for us to make important decisions or significant purchases. We could too easily get carried away by the pleasant feelings of the moment without utilizing our due diligence. Despite the energies of this day, let’s keep in mind the suggestion that there are times when less is more.

Thursday, December 13th – Tripping Over Ourselves – Uranus, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter. This Thursday begins with the Moon completing its transit of Aquarius, and as it does so the Moon sextiles Uranus in the early morning hours. The Moon then moves into Pisces where today the Moon trines Venus and the Moon squares both Mercury and Jupiter both in Sagittarius. We may have some ‘ah-ha’ moments in the early morning hours, even pleasant visitations in our dream state. We might sense that the boundaries between dimensions are a great deal thinner than during our ‘waking’ hours. The sense of impossibilities being possible could tantalize us and affirm the truth to the idiom ‘where there’s a will, there’s a way’. With the thrust of unexpected occurrences being a major part of the paradigm shift that we are all experiencing as the linear progression reality gives way to asequential reality with its magic and mini-miracles, we could fully embrace the concept of limitless possibilities. As the day progresses, our spiritual essence can be revealed with us wanting to express our compassion and somehow make the world a better place. Although we could look at improving someone’s life, we also have to be wary of engaging the colonist attribute of what was termed during imperialist days as ‘the white man’s burden’, a justification for the control over other people ‘for their own good’. We might want to make the world a better place, but we also have to be aware that sometimes such a sentiment demands questioning the definition of ‘a better place’ and in truth masks our desire for control over circumstance. Let’s provide help where help is desired without overstepping our bounds by messing with or taking on someone else’s karma.

Friday, December 14th – Effective Essence – Saturn, Neptune, Mars. Friday continues with the Moon transiting Pisces, and with the Moon today sextile Saturn and the Moon conjunct both Neptune and Mars. Our sensitivity may be energized and impelling us towards ‘spirit in action’. This is a day when we can be highly effective and looking for venues in which to express our nurture and comfort. Whether we do so on a local level by caring for family members and friends or do so on a grander level by supporting the efforts of human services organizations, we are looking to engage our soulful characteristics. If we would take the time to step away from the hurly-burly of our daily activities, we could embrace the quiet understanding of our inner voice. We can step into a spiritual dimension today whereby reflections and contemplations may make us far more aware of the underlining factors of our life, the true purpose and meaning of our individual journey. Failing to engage those brief interludes of zen-like qualities of being one with the universe, we might choose our escape route through indulgence and tuning out from our daily reality. This Friday is a day of choice. We can either embrace our spirit in thought or by action, or we satiate our appetites in the earthly pleasures of drink, food or drugs. Our choice, always our choice.

Saturday, December 15th – Standing on the Corner – Pluto, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. Saturday begins with the Moon in Pisces sextile Pluto and the Moon square the Sun. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for almost thirteen hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces and before the Moon enters Aries late in the day. Saturday calls for us to make a list of what we wish to accomplish today. Yesterday might have had us in a moody, otherworldly quality. We might have stepped off the track of our mundane affairs and found ourselves in something of a wonderland. Saturday is a different story. Today is a day for us to bring conclusion to certain matters. If we would prioritize our activities, then we can rid ourselves of much of the extraneous that sometimes bottles up our days and creates turmoil in our life. This is a day for eliminations and tying up loose ends. We might not want to address any pressing matters, would probably prefer staying in la-la land, but no matter how much we may rail against what needs to be done, it would be far better for us to get back down on the ground and approach our ‘to do’ list with the idea of cleaning up and clearing out those matters we wish to conclude before the end of the year.

Sunday, December 16th – Individual Presence in Familiar Surroundings – Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus. Sunday has the Moon in Aries with the Moon today trine both Mercury and Jupiter both in Sagittarius, and the Moon square Saturn. Venus sextiles Saturn. We may be feeling our oats on this Sunday. Whether consciously or subconsciously, we might have received a soul infusion over the past three days. While much of the energies may have been impactful below the surface, it would have been wise for us to bring conclusion to certain matters and especially those hanging over us needing to be resolved. Sunday can have us optimistic and enthusiastic about new trajectories, new adventures. We could be feeling inspired and upbeat and willing to take on the world. Recognizing that every journey begins with the first step, our first steps today may be in familiar surroundings. We might feel that our familiar is more of an albatross, but in truth our familiar provides the support system by which we can venture forward. Let’s appreciate where we are, where we have come from and what we have learned along the way and the people we have engaged in the interim. They are all grist for the mill and have helped us develop our expertise and our skill set from experience. Now we can launch into new directions but always with the sense that where we are heading might not turn out to be where we are going. Life is more magical, mysterious and mystical than ever before. Our intended direction might only be a starting point for later sideways trajectories that are more in synch with our true purpose and our personal destiny.
