The astrology for this week of November 19th through the 25th of 2018 can have us ramping up our activities as we enter the holiday season.
We begin the week firing on all cylinders. We may feel indefatigable as we do this and that and then something else. We might be operating more on impulse than considered action. Let’s keep in mind that Mercury has turned retrograde with Murphy’s Law of ‘whatever could go wrong can go wrong’ now in effect. Our due diligence could be lacking as we choose to believe what we want to believe, all in seeking to satiate our appetites. This week calls for us to avoid overindulgence and excess, but that’s unlikely for us to engage as we come to Thanksgiving in the US with its emphasis on food and more food and a sedentary liability of watching football all day long.
Thursday has the Sun exiting Scorpio to enter Sagittarius, thereby creating a Stellium in the Mutable Fire Sign as the Sun joins retrograde Mercury and Jupiter in the Jupiter-ruled Sign of Sagittarius. ‘More, more, more’ might be the tenor of these times as we look for optimism, enthusiasm and exuberance wherever we can find it. For many people, such attitudes are found in the affirmation of ‘when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping’.
This week is a week when we might easily overdo. Not only do we have the preparations for Thanksgiving in the US, but we have the day itself, followed by the notorious Black Friday that triggers the Christmas shopping season with ‘bargains’, ‘sales’ and other marketing hype to part us from our monies. Black Friday has the Gemini Full Moon with a Mutable Sign T-Square, and we could find our energy ratcheted up severalfold with the intention of juggling as much as possible and then some.
The weekend, and it could be a long weekend with Thanksgiving prompting a late Wednesday through Sunday holiday weekend time, can be times of social gatherings with family and friends.
This week can be a whirlwind week. We just have to be wary not to get caught up in the frenzy of enjoying ourselves too much and in the process eating too much, spending too much, partying too much — the dis-ease of the ‘too muches’.
Monday, November 19th – Fast Forward Without Clear Direction – Mercury, Pluto, Mars, Jupiter. We start the week with the Moon continuing its transit of Aries and the Moon today trine Mercury and the Moon square Pluto. Mars squares Jupiter. We might imagine that we have skillfully planned our day and our week. Such a concept may be appealing, but as the saying goes: ‘the devil is in the details’. With an impulse to get going, get moving, and accomplishing any number of things; we could be fast out the door as we begin the week. With the retrograde Mercury and Mercury in Detriment, in a Sign where Mercury’s mind can be diffuse, and with Mercury in orb of a square to Neptune, our thinking might be more confused than clear. We could have difficulty with our itinerary, our direction and the vast realm of possibilities of things we would like to accomplish. This is a day when our feet may be faster than our mind. Let’s try and pull in the reins and give serious consideration to what we plan to do on this Monday and during the week ahead. In the US, this is a short week due to Thursday’s Thanksgiving holiday. We may have various things to do for Thanksgiving, but we might also have a lot of routine matters to address before we come on to the holiday. Adept planning and enlisting time management skills would help prevent us from running around in circles and getting virtually nowhere.
Tuesday, November 20th – Alterations – Venus, Uranus. One of the key facets of these times, which can prove challenging to our old mindset of sequential reality, is the dramatic change where things can shift and change dramatically and radically in a nanosecond or less. Tuesday could have us experiencing unexpected alterations to whatever we have scheduled for ourselves. The Moon completes its transit of Aries with the Aries Moon opposed Venus and the Moon conjunct Uranus before the Moon enters Taurus later in the day. Based upon someone’s action or our reaction to someone, we might find that we need to alter our plans. Whether it’s just curveballs for today or screwballs for the upcoming holiday, this is a day when we need to be aware of contingency plans and willing to adapt to changing conditions. While we might prefer a clear plan of action, such a preference may not be our experience today. Let’s keep in mind that even if our schedule is thrown out of whack, whatever develops from our upset could be far more exciting than our scheduled commitments. As the wise saying offers us: ‘if you want to make god laugh, tell god your plans’. This Tuesday allows us to take off the blinders of our narrow vision of planned commitments and be open to options and alternatives we could not have been aware of.
Wednesday, November 21st – In Synch – Mars, Saturn, Neptune. If the first two days of this week had us in helter-skelter mode, Wednesday seems to set everything aright. Things going according to plan today might seem ironic on what is considered one of the busiest travel days of the year in the US — the day before Thanksgiving. But today does seem to have everything in synch with the Taurus Moon sextile Mars, the Moon trine Saturn, and the Moon sextile Neptune. As if threading the needle, we can attend to what needs to get done systematically, effectively and expeditiously. We might almost seem as though we are being divinely guided and directed. The ease of accomplishment today could seem even more surprising when recognizing that we are under a Mercury retrograde. Let’s not push the envelope, so it would be wise for us to add on extra time to get from place to place and extra time to complete the various matters on our ‘to do’ list. With the Mars and Neptune being in Pisces, we do need to be aware that any anticipated atmospheric storm system can have increased precipitation. It is interesting to note that the New York tri-state area experienced winter storm Avery this past Thursday with greater than anticipated snowfall, Thursday also being the day that Mars exited Aquarius to enter the Water Element Sign of Pisces. With Mars and Neptune engaged today and Mars and Neptune both being in Pisces through December, precipitation from atmospheric storm systems can be significantly increased [just fyi].
Thursday, November 22nd – Attitude of Gratitude – Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Sun Sagittarius. Thursday is Thanksgiving Day in the US, a day traditionally when we give thanks for the many blessings and the various bounties in our life. And they are many! The more modern version of Thanksgiving is a huge turkey with stuffing and the trimmings, cranberry sauce, and various vegetable side dishes, followed by pie[s]. After a huge ingestion of food, people settle down to chat and discuss family matters or turn on the television for an afternoon and evening of entertainment often geared to one football game after another after another. The Taurus Moon trines Pluto early in the day and then goes Void-of-Course for over nineteen hours as the Moon finishes its transit of Taurus without making any further connections to the planets and before the Moon enters Gemini late on Thursday. The Sun exits Scorpio to enter Sagittarius and creates a Stellium in the Mutable Fire Sign as the Sun joins Mercury and Jupiter in the Jupiter-ruled Sign of Sagittarius. We can put everything in order thanks to our prior days of planning for this Thanksgiving Day. Things can unfold smoothly today, and we might feel more upbeat and in a celebratory mood. Although family gatherings sometimes are replete with subtle unease and old issues unresolved surfacing, this day seems pleasant with people optimistic and confident about the days ahead. This day can be like a gathering of the Mutual Admiration Society with people lauding each other. Let’s embrace the true sentiment of this day and fully engage an attitude of gratitude for all the many gifts in our lives. We may not be pressed to do any thing other today than to enjoy ourselves in a leisurely time.
Friday, November 23rd – Starting Guns Fired – Gemini Full Moon, Sun, Lunar T-Square, Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Neptune. In the US, this Friday is considered Black Friday, a day that in recent times heralded the start of the holiday shopping season with various bargains and sales galore. More recently, some stores have even opened on Thanksgiving night for early holiday shoppers. Shoppers intent on getting the true bargains might even camp out on Thursday night in eager anticipation of being one of the first into the store of their choice for the expected deal of the century, or at least the deal of this holiday season. The energies for this day are certainly attuned to the frenzy of the start of the holiday shopping season. The Gemini Moon is a Full Moon and also triggers a Mutable Sign T-Square with the Moon opposed the three Sagittarius-transiting planets of the Sun, Jupiter and Mercury, and the Moon squaring the two Pisces-transiting planets of Mars and Neptune. People can be all over the place today and in a helter-skelter manner with little thought or consideration but like a bullet fired out of the gun, swift, fast but not necessarily with a dead aim. If we choose to venture out into the world on this Friday, it would be wise for us to be defensive in our driving, mindful and highly astute to what is going on around us, and to virtually have eyes in the back of our head. This is a day when people may be juggling any number of things and possibly dropping a few now and then. Things done today might have to be reworked or redone, since the tendency will be to do things hastily and without due consideration of what is being done. This Friday could prove exhausting so it would be wise for us to pencil in some ‘down time’ over the weekend.
Saturday, November 25th – Taking it Down a Notch or Two – Venus, Neptune direct. Whether we got caught in yesterday’s frenzy or somehow avoided it, we might have felt our energy ramped up yesterday. Even if we had nowhere to go, nothing to do, we could have felt amped with a sense that we should be doing something, anything. The high strung, nervous energy of yesterday is muted on this Saturday. The Full Moon is past, the Mutable Sign T-Square a memory of yesterday but with little impact on this Saturday. Today, we can breathe a sigh of relief. We still have the Moon in Gemini but with the Moon today trine Venus late in the day. Neptune turns direct late in the day. This day allows special time[s] with that special person in our life or with our special people. We may still be in holiday spirits, but our energy is likely to be toned down. Instead of getting caught up in the whirlwind of the holidays, this is a day when we can fully enjoy the company and companionship. The energy today is far more placid, far more pleasant, a time when we can fully enjoy ourselves and reach out to connect with other people. We may seek quality time with little regard to quantity. Even if we have various places to go today, we’re not feeling rushed or compelled by our commitments. This is a day when we can stop and enjoy the flavorings of the holidays — the sights, the sounds, the smells, the euphoria. We could even have a greater sense of the true nature of the holidays as we sense our spiritual connection and the soulful contacts we have with other people. Evening hours can be pleasant get-togethers with that special person or the special people in our life. The romance of a passionate life is something we can savor in the evening hours.
Sunday, November 25th – Home and Hearth – Uranus, Mars, Saturn. Early Sunday morning, the Gemini Moon sextiles Uranus before the Moon moves into Cancer where today the Cancer Moon trines Mars and the Moon opposes Saturn. Whether we took a long holiday weekend from Thanksgiving Thursday through this Sunday or briefly got back on track on Friday prior to the weekend, Saturday and Sunday can be days when we regroup, enjoy interactions with other people but keep things toned down. Sunday is a day for us to do things around our home. We might choose to decorate our home for the Christmas holidays or to get together with friends, but certainly the holiday spirit is upon us. We are interested in entertaining in our home, for we feel comforted and warmed by our friendly and familiar environment. With all the buzz and hubbub of the past few days and the approaching Christmas and New Year’s season and with many people hitting the roads, the train terminals and the airports to go back from the Thanksgiving holiday; many of us might prefer to spend the day around our personal space and keep the home fires burning. The latter part of the day may have us preparing to get back on track with our routine matters.
