The astrology for this week of October 8th through the 14th of 2018 can have us focused on looking to our future but liable to be delayed or tripped up by the demands of our present or by outstanding matters of our past.
We start the week on the dark side of the Moon prior to Monday evening’s Libra New Moon, which will cast its influence over the next two weeks. This New Moon signature might have us socializing, exploring with other people prospects for our future but perhaps without the necessary due diligence or without taking into account the proverbial law of unexpected consequences.
While we may be more interested in future developments, let’s keep in mind the necessity during these times of making our plans in pencil with a large eraser. No matter how skilled we are or how detailed our plans might be, these times are times of unanticipated variables with unexpected twists and turns that can even lead us down a totally different trajectory than the one we imagined for ourselves.
The mid-week period could prove daunting. Travel plans, communications and interpersonal relationships can all be challenging with delays, frustrations and misunderstandings thrown into the mix. The more we can ratchet down the intensity, the less liable we are to triggering knee jerk reactions to whatever is being said or whatever is going on.
The weekend may be a time for us to air out, to get out of Dodge for leaf peeping or just seeking a necessary diversion from our familiar and from the complacency of our discontent.
Monday, October 8th – Waiting and Hoping – Saturn, Mars, Libra New Moon, Sun. Monday is a US Holiday, traditionally referred to as Columbus Day, more politically correct known as Indigenous Peoples’ Day. We start this week with the Libra Moon with the Moon square Saturn and the Moon trine Mars. We are still on the dark side of the Moon until late in the day when we have the Libra New Moon and the Moon conjuncts the Sun. Although we are likely to be more interested in conversations with other people and in giving thought to our future plans, we start the day being somewhat constrained by our responsibilities and our usual obligations. We could be slow starting as we begin this day and the week. While we might have to deal with our own tasks or someone else’s needs to start the day, the more we get our pressing matters out of the way early in the day, the more we can engage future plans as the day proceeds. The push – pull between old and new can be strong on this Monday. It would be wise to address what needs to get done in order to create space for exploring future endeavors. The Libra New Moon late in the day impacts the next two weeks, and this New Moon may have us engaging social interactions all with a mind to sounding out the rationale and the methodology of our future plans. With this Libra New Moon ruled by Venus which is retrograde back through a Sign of its Detriment, Scorpio, this two-week period of the waxing Moon could be one whereby we are fast out of the gate only to be slowed or stopped by obstacles in the way. We may have great ideas but the implementation and manifestation could take longer than we like with various curveballs of unexpected factors thrown into a disruptive mix.
Tuesday, October 9th – Ever More Intense – Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course, Mercury Scorpio. The Libra Moon on this Tuesday squares Pluto before the Moon goes Void-of-Course for over nineteen and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Libra and before the Moon enters Scorpio early on Wednesday. Mercury exits Libra to enter Scorpio, thereby creating a Stellium of three planets in the Fixed Water Sign as Mercury joins Venus and Jupiter in Scorpio. Intensity can be ratcheted up severalfold. Some of our grandiose plans, so exquisitely drawn up in concept and beautifully developed in the abstract, may seem to come crashing down in the light of practical reality with little hope of implementation. We could turn inward and like a roiling volcano seem to be seething with anger and frustration but without explanation. Tuesday and Wednesday are two days that call for, demand, that we be judicious in our behavior and considerate in our communications. The liability today and especially tomorrow is the likelihood that like the straw that broke the camel’s back any slight indiscretion could unleash a torrent of rage and undisciplined talk. Now is a time for us to use measured responses, rein in our emotions and not create greater havoc by knee jerk reactions or over the top responses.
Wednesday, October 10th – Off the Charts – Lunar T-Square, Mercury, Uranus, Mars, Venus, Saturn. If yesterday seemed intense, this Wednesday can be off the charts with intensity. The Moon enters Scorpio where today the Moon triggers a Fixed Sign T-Square with the Moon conjunct Mercury, the Moon conjunct Venus, the Moon opposed Uranus, and the Moon square Mars. The Moon sextiles Saturn. Mercury opposes Uranus, and Venus squares Mars. This is a day that calls for planning and creating a schedule, all with the recognition and appreciation that whatever plans we make for this day we should make in pencil with a large eraser, since whatever we intend for ourselves today might not work out the way we planned. Tuesday and Wednesday call for steam vents whereby we can release our energy in a healthy manner and modulate the ever-increasing intensity that we could be feeling during this mid-week. Communications can be off, traveling disrupted, and the need for being ever present, aware and mindful demanded. With the intensity off the charts today, it is essential that we have our hand on the brakes and take various braking action to help us avoid catastrophic consequences. The Mercury Uranus adverse aspect is my least favorite for air travel and for clear transmissions. This is a day for us to be cautious and avoid any aggressive actions or overly self-assertive expressions. Let’s not allow the energy today get the better of us.
Thursday, October 11th – Back on Track – Neptune, Pluto, Jupiter. We may well breathe a sigh of relief on this Thursday for our having survived the past two days when situations might have seemed extreme and people’s actions off the wall. Thursday is a totally different energy configuration. The Moon continues its transit through Scorpio with the Moon today trine Neptune, the Moon sextile Pluto and the Moon conjunct Jupiter. Whereas the past two days could have had various curveballs thrown at us with our having difficulty getting from point A to B, this Thursday allows for greased wheels whereby things can operate smoothly, relatively easily, and highly effectively. We might continue to hold our cards close to our chest, some of which could be a reaction to any tongue-lashing or opposition we might have experienced the past two days. Today is a day for us to draw upon our inner knowing, our intuitive sense, as to how to fit the pieces into the puzzle. We can be highly productive today with no need to draw upon anyone’s input, just our own understanding of the unfolding process and realizing the most expeditious means to accomplish our prioritized activities. Not only can we focus on the truly important today, we can do so in a most effective means, leaving us at the end of the day proud of our achievements and our resourcefulness. If we had any mix-ups over the past two days, we can rework them and bring them to a more successful resolution on this Thursday.
Friday, October 12th – Collateral Effects of Transformations – Sun, Pluto, Mercury, Saturn. Friday has the Moon exiting Scorpio to enter Sagittarius with the Moon making no connections to the planets as the Moon begins its transit of the Mutable Fire Sign. The Sun squares Pluto, and Mercury sextiles Saturn. Reflecting on the ups and downs of this week, we could come to a realization that some things no longer work for us. We can see ourselves in a different light, possibly shedding certain involvements that have proven no longer relevant for us. This is a day when we might do some soul searching, considering what we wish to focus on in the days ahead. There can be a sense of revolving doors today with some things moving out of our life experience as we await new developments more in tune with whom we are becoming and with where we are intending to go forward. This Friday would be effectively used to do an inventory taking of our activities and engagements. We may choose to step away from certain situations in order to create the space for the more timely and more attuned trajectories for us to explore. Our mind is likely to be sharp and concentrating on the right template for developing our evolving interests. We may choose to take off early from our responsibilities on this Friday. Whether we travel physically or figuratively, we are looking to expand from our familiar, lighten our load, and investigate the far reaches of our personal world.
Saturday, October 13th – Here, There, and Everywhere – Mars, Neptune, Sun, Moon Void-of-Course. Saturday continues with the Sagittarius Moon with the Moon today sextile Mars in Aquarius, the Moon square Neptune in Pisces, and the Moon sextile the Sun in Libra. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for over eighteen hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Sagittarius and before the Moon enters Capricorn later on Sunday afternoon. Whether we literally got rid of things yesterday or did so figuratively in our mind’s eye as to what we wish to step away from and what we wish to engage in the future, this Saturday is a day for us to spread our wings and fly. Our flight might not take us traveling to far distances, but our mental thoughts could have us ranging the four corners of the world. This is a day when we might embrace the sentiments of Richard Bach: “Don’t Limit the IS”. This is a day for us to explore and investigate and to engage a broad and wide consideration of expansionary opportunities. Like a butterfly alighting on one flower briefly before flying off to alight briefly on its next flower, so too for us. This is a day for us to try various ideas and try many different things. It is far better for us today to test the waters rather than diving into the deep end. Let’s consider all alternatives without feeling the need to commit to any one thing. Our possibilities are a broad palette and we might not even be aware of some options until we try out a wide range of alternatives. We can be all over the place on this Saturday and that is the way recommended for us to be today.
Sunday, October 14th – Zeroing In – Moon Void-of-Course, Uranus, Saturn. Sunday begins with the Sagittarius Moon Void-of-Course with the Moon making no connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Sagittarius and before the Moon enters Capricorn later in the day. As the Moon enters the Cardinal Earth Sign, the Capricorn Moon trines Uranus, and the Moon conjuncts Saturn. This past week may have been a bit like a roller coaster with its ups and downs, but life nowadays seems to have wild swings. This Sunday allows us to put things all together. We can embrace new alternatives for us, all the while that we are successfully addressing our normal responsibilities. We are living a life along a suspension bridge putting down the slats of our future to get us to the other side, while there are still times that we go back and clean up outstanding matters and some of our past messes. We do not have to be restricted by our past, but we can learn from our past and use the expertise drawn from our experiences to make quantum leaps into our future of altered realities and more self-fulfilling pursuits.
