July 2nd – 8th, 2018

The astrology for this week of July 2nd through the 8th of 2018 offers us sustenance and comfort if we would look away from the crazy-making distractions in the world at large and concentrate instead on all the various blessings in our personal life.

For many of us the challenge is whether we see ourselves as self-determining our destiny or as solely victims to circumstance pulled by the conditions around us and ineffective in expressing our free will. Our attitude and our behavior are always our choice. How we see things and how we choose to act is always up to us as individuals.

This week begins with us liable to be moody, expectant of something happening to us, as if waiting for a shoe to drop in order for us to react to circumstance. Things may be operating more below the surface rather than readily evident. The early part of this week would be a good time for us to seek solace in the perfection of nature, in uplifting literature and thought, in soothing music and the blessings of family and good friends. Each of us is doing our individual journey with the backdrop of chaos and anxiety. We might not like everything that is going on in the world, but it would be wise to keep in mind that the disruptions operating all around us are a dynamic and offer a catalyst of rapid and sudden change.

If we would take the time to reconnect with our spirit and on our soul level early in the week, then we can move forward with faith and determination into new trajectories, the initiation of projects and the embrace of our own individual journey often felt like taking the path less traveled. We may have a better sense of our own personal pathway, an exploration that bears no comparison to other people’s itinerary but one that is uniquely our own.

Much of this week feels the influence of a Water Grand Trine. Our sensitivity and feeling nature may be enhanced. We could be more receptive and influenced by what is around us more so than what we sense within us.

The weekend offers us the ability to make manifest some of our desires. We can plant the seeds of short-term endeavors and long-term goals. We might choose the weekend for a personal makeover in whatever format that makeover might take. We could also use the weekend to consider how best to put our spirit into action.

Monday, July 2nd – Slow Starting – Moon Void-of-Course, Uranus. Monday begins the week with the Moon Void-of-Course as the Moon finishes its transit of Aquarius and before the Moon enters Pisces later in the day where the Moon sextiles Uranus. The week may be slow starting. Some of us might be on holiday, taking the Independence Day in the US on Wednesday as giving credence to adding on several days of ‘down time’ or vacation. Whether we are taking time off now or not, this Monday can be slow starting. Our thoughts and interests could be more concerned with future plans, social get-togethers and virtually anything other than our daily routine. If we accept the energy as somewhat slow starting and not going into overdrive with our wheels spinning, then we are likely to build up a reserve of energy that we can utilize later in the day to streamline what needs to be done by combining our intuitive sense of ‘inner knowing’ with the most effective means to accomplish our tasks. Conversations and interactions with people might provide us with insights and options that we had not taken into account. Let’s not get caught up in a mad dash but rather start slow in order to move more effectively ahead later in the day.

Tuesday, July 3rd – Got a Feeling – Saturn, Lunar Grand Trine, Sun, Jupiter, Neptune. If we didn’t get tangled up in our own messes yesterday by rushing ahead without forethought of where we were going, this Tuesday could prove a primo day when things fit neatly together. The Pisces Moon today sextiles Saturn and triggers the Water Grand Trine that started with the Summer Solstice as the Sun moved into Cancer. Today, the Pisces Moon conjuncts Neptune, the Moon trines the Sun in Cancer and the Moon trines Jupiter in Scorpio. Our emotions may be heightened today but so too is our ability to perceive and conceive ‘right’ intention and ‘right’ action. If we are stepping away from our daily obligations this week, this Tuesday would allow us to spend quality time with home and family matters. Social occasions can be fun, enlivening and nurturing engagements. Everyone may be feeling greater compassion for each other with a tendency to protect and care for other people. Our moods may be heightened and it may be necessary to maintain an ‘up’ attitude. We can do so if we let go of guilt and judgment and embrace the beauties of life and living that we see and can feel all around us. This is a day to take the time to slow things down and as the saying goes ‘to stop and smell the flowers’.

Wednesday, July 4th – Free At Last – Pluto, Moon Void-of-Course. Wednesday begins with the Pisces Moon sextile Pluto. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for nineteen hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Pisces and before the Moon moves into Aries early on Thursday. Wednesday is Independence Day in the US, a federal holiday and one that celebrates the belief in liberty, freedom and independence. Many stores are closed, and many people head for recreational pursuits. Barbecues, cookouts, day at the beach, the lake or in the mountains are all ways that we tend to spend July 4th, often culminating with a nighttime fireworks display. With a wide palette of options to draw from, it would be wise for us to start the day prioritizing what we can do today and what we want to do today. By focusing on fully enjoying our ‘down time’, we could determine the best ways for us to relax, refresh and re-create. Even in the midst of a great amount going on, this Wednesday can be a day when we step off the track and take the time to truly consider what our most significant involvements might be.

Thursday, July 5th – Stop and Start – Saturn, Mars, Pluto, Mercury, Sun, Jupiter. Thursday has the Moon moving into Aries where today the Aries Moon squares Saturn, the Moon sextiles Mars, and the Moon trines Mercury. Mercury opposes Mars, and the Sun trines Jupiter with the Water Grand Trine being exactly aspected with the Cancer Sun trine Jupiter in Scorpio today and the Sun trine Neptune in Pisces on Sunday. No matter what we did yesterday, we might feel as though we have gotten a second wind as we start this Thursday. With the Moon entering Aries, we are at the beginning of the zodiac wheel, the initiation of a new month-long cycle. We may be optimistic, confident and feel that everything is going our way. Although outstanding matters and past demands could trip us up early on this Thursday, it would be important for us to slow things down, take time to evaluate what we are doing and how we are doing it, and not make false assumptions based upon blind faith. Our confidence could know no bounds and therein lies the liability of setting ourselves up. Before we race out of the starting gate on this Thursday, it would be wise for us to consider our direction and our itinerary. This day may press us to start things up, get things going, but it is far better for us to put on the brakes occasionally and reflect on whether what we are doing really has true meaning for us or is only a form of busy work to give free rein to our impetuous energy.

Friday, July 6th – Too Many Irons in the Fire – Lunar T-Square, Sun, Pluto. We are in the midst of the Water Grand Trine being heightened by the exact aspects of the Sun trine Jupiter yesterday and the Sun trine Neptune on Sunday. While we can be in a ‘feel good’ mood, we could also find ourselves chasing a pipe dream, expending great energy in futile attempts to accomplish something that seems worthy but might prove of little value. It is essential that we not rely solely on our enthusiasm and confidence in our self or in our projects, for we may be led astray by our self-aggrandizement. Humility is called for, often called for, especially during these days of heightened entitlement. What we want we often assume that we deserve and should get. Nice concept but not one that always works in physical reality. If we veer too far off our own path, the universe often steps in and gives us one of those lateral lobotomies, those whacks on the side of the head, to force us to deal with reality as it is rather than the way we would prefer to see it. This Friday might prove one of those head-whackers. The Aries Moon today triggers a Cardinal Sign T-Square with the Moon square the Sun in Cancer and the Moon square Pluto in Capricorn. We may wish to move forward doing our own thing but find ourselves pulled back by home or family needs or our usual mundane responsibilities. It’s summertime, and we might prefer going off, doing our thing. If we have clutter around us, we should consider getting things out of the way early in the day so that we can take leave for the weekend early on this Friday.

Saturday, July 7th – Different Approach – Venus, Uranus, Saturn, Mars. Saturday begins the day with the Aries Moon trine Venus. The Moon then moves into Taurus where today the Moon conjuncts Uranus, the Moon trines Saturn and the Moon squares Mars. We continue to feel the influence of the Water Grand Trine with the Cancer Sun having been trine Jupiter in Scorpio on Thursday and the Sun trine Neptune in Pisces tomorrow. We can have a burst of energy as we start this day. We’re looking to expand our reach and interested in making us look good. We can feel good about life especially if we recognize and appreciate all the blessings in our life. Too often people look at the negative, at the problems, at the discontent. Like a toxic cocktail, negativity can have a nasty and lasting effect on us. This week and this Saturday provide us various opportunities to see the positive attributes and appreciate all that we have in our life. Today is a day when we can make subtle but significant alterations to how we are doing life. Home projects, shopping for wardrobe items and planting seeds of new endeavors can engage us on this Saturday. It is important that we not put on blinders or accept old ways of doing things by the book. If we listen to our inner voice, the depth of our inner knowing, we might have the sense that we are being gently guided along our pathway.

Sunday, July 8th – Spirit & Matter – Lunar T-Square, Mercury, Jupiter, Neptune, Sun, Pluto. Sunday can begin with us feeling stuck. The Taurus Moon triggers a Fixed Sign T-Square with the Moon square Mercury in Leo and the Moon opposed Jupiter in Scorpio. As the day progresses, the Moon sextiles Neptune in Pisces and the Moon sextiles the Sun in Cancer. The day ends with the Moon trine Pluto. The Sun triggers the Water Grand Trine with the Sun trine Neptune today. We may start the day feeling stuck. We might have all sorts of plans in mind but question how we can pull them off. If we are frustrated, we need to avoid forcing things to our will, throwing money at anything that we think will comfort us, or just giving up and feeling defeated. While the day begins on a heavy and blocked note, things lighten up as we progress through this Sunday. There is a paradox to this day, and it is one that is the challenge of the paradigm shift we are all going through. On the one hand, we assume as we have been conditioned that we are the ones who need to make things happen and that we are masters and sole arbiters of our conditions and circumstance. On the other hand, we are beginning to see that the universe has a major role in the unfolding of conditions and circumstance and that we are not masters but rather co-creators of what occurs in our lives. We can bang our head against the wall as we begin this Sunday trying to force things to our will. But as the day continues, we could experience that suddenly things operate far more smoothly and easily. In the 12 Step Program, there is the suggestion paraphrased as ‘let go, let god’. Such would be wise counsel today, for as we are advised by Lao Tzu in Chapter 78 of the Tao Te Ching:
“The weak overcomes the strong,
The soft overcomes the hard.
Everybody in the world knows this,
Still nobody makes use of it”.
