The astrology for this week of March 19th through the 25th, 2018, brings us across the threshold from Winter into Spring with a thrust of energy, but we may be stumbling as a result of Mercury turning retrograde.
The week begins with us wanting to do anything but our routine stuff. If we could get away and escape our responsibilities, even just for the day, it would be highly appealing. We might find that even if we fly off somewhere, our usual tasks are daunting us.
The start of this week may be a time for us to ‘grin and bear it’, deal with outstanding matters, tie up loose ends, in order for us to enter the Spring unencumbered by old obligations and not to get bolloxed by the impending Mercury retrograde.
On Tuesday, we exit Winter and come into Spring with the Vernal Equinox. We may have all rockets firing as we start the Spring, but we have to be wary of a possible fizzle later in the week when Mercury turns retrograde for its three-week cycle. We all know what Mercury retrograde can entail — Murphy’s Law where ‘whatever could go wrong can go wrong’.
Our trajectory might seem like a sputtering engine with our forward movement interrupted by heaving motions that appear like fits of starts and stops along the way.
We could be all things to all people and especially to our self. We might be trying this then trying that, but without any clear focus except to try and wiggle out of our present situation. We just have to watch that our impetuousness does not cause us harm in the process.
The weekend can find us exhausted by the energy we’ve expended, especially if we feel that we have only been running in place. The weekend might be a good time to take a ‘time out’, regroup, recharge and restore ourselves. The call of the sirens of hyperactivity, however, might not allow for much relaxation, since we could feel caught up in a frenzy similar to the sentiments expressed from the doo-wop era in The Dovells’ lyrics from You Can’t Sit Down:
“…everybody is a jumpin'(you can’t sit down)
You gotta slop, bop, flip flop, hip hop
(You can’t sit down, you can’t sit down)”
Monday, March 19th – We Gotta Get Out of This Place – Pluto, Uranus, Moon Void-of-Course, Mars. We start the week with the Moon finishing its transit of Aries. The Aries Moon squares Pluto and the Moon conjuncts Uranus. The Moon then goes Void-of-Course for five and a half hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Aries and before the Moon enters Taurus where today the Moon trines Mars. We may awaken on this Monday with a dread of our responsibilities. We might far prefer escaping our obligations and taking off for places unknown, but we are unlikely to shake off demanding tasks. If we prioritize our activities and focus on what needs to be done, we can accomplish a great deal in a most expeditious manner. Let’s not get in our own way of what we have to do. By checking off pressing demands one by one, we could find the afternoon hours allow us to do things in an impulsive, spontaneous way. Addressing our responsibilities early in the day gives us the space to do whatever catches our fancy later in the day. This Monday can be a roller coaster best managed by doing what needs to be done, having time in the afternoon to do our own thing and late in the day back in harness and taking care of business. We might have a respite, a ‘time out’, from our normal responsibilities in the afternoon that can provide us with a second wind in order for us to be expeditious in effectively handling our normal involvements.
Tuesday, March 20th – Seed Planting – Saturn, Neptune, Mercury, Venus, Vernal Equinox, Sun Aries. Tuesday has us stepping out as we move from Winter into Spring at the time of the Vernal Equinox today when the Sun exits Pisces to enter Aries. This movement signals the beginning of the astrological new year as we start a brand new cycle through the zodiac wheel. The Taurus Moon trines Saturn and the Moon sextiles Neptune. Mercury conjuncts Venus. Our creative juices may be flowing with various ideas for springtime projects. The Sun moving into Aries reinforces the Aries Stellium as the Sun joins Mercury, Venus and Uranus in the Cardinal Fire Sign. We may have fire in our belly, but we can also be highly astute regarding what to do first and how to do it best. We have a thrust of energy combined with a focused patience, and as a result we can be highly effective. This may be more of a day of planning and initial first steps than full implementation. It is important to remember that Mercury will be turning retrograde on Thursday, and we might already be subject to some of the confusion that Mercury retrograde often triggers. Wherever we place our energy today, we might be far more interested in initiations than follow through. We can start things, especially those things that may have to gestate or percolate before truly coming into their own. Welcome Spring, welcome a new year.
Wednesday, March 21st – Focused on Less, Confused by More – Pluto, Jupiter, Moon Void-of-Course. Wednesday begins with the Taurus Moon trine Pluto. As the day progresses, the Moon opposes Jupiter and then the Moon goes Void-of-Course for twelve hours with the Moon making no further connections to the planets as the Moon finishes its transit of Taurus and before the Moon moves into Gemini early on Thursday. We can be highly attentive to our goals and tasks at hand today. We could effectively prioritize our activities today and be expeditious in completing certain matters. Although our productivity may prove stellar, we have to avoid taking on too much. Let’s keep in mind that Mercury is turning retrograde tomorrow, and that it is best that we deal with the most important and significant matters prior to Mercury retrograde or waiting on such matters until after Mercury turns direct on the 15th of April. While we can have nose to grindstone in the morning hours, distractions could contribute to diffusiveness and confusion, especially in light of the Mercury retrograde already starting to seep into our consciousness. Let’s deal with essential issues today and put less compelling matters on hold.
Thursday, March 22nd – Murphy’s Around – Sun, Mercury retrograde. Thursday could prove somewhat convoluted. The Moon moves into Gemini where today the Moon sextiles the Sun. We could be open to any number of projects and interested primarily in those activities that allow us to take machete in hand and forge our own way. Nice concept if we knew what path to take, but therein lies a problem. The Moon in Gemini is in a Mercury-ruled Sign and Mercury is turning retrograde today for a three-week cycle. We all are aware of Mercury retrograde, more than once we’ve likely been hog-tied by Mercury retrograde. Mercury retrograde is akin to Murphy’s Law where ‘whatever could go wrong can go wrong’. Often, when Mercury first turns direction, whether from direct to retrograde or from retrograde to direct motion, the liability to missteps and to things becoming convoluted is ratcheted up. Add to that tendency the Moon going through Gemini, and this Thursday could be one mix-up day. We need to stay focused on this Thursday with an appreciation that there can be mistakes, misunderstandings, miscommunications and other misses that delay us or somehow impede our forward movement. This is not a time to entertain a wide array of possibilities, for such a kaleidoscope could be so confusing that we find ourselves either running in place or going around in circles. Let’s cut ourselves and everyone around us a great deal of slack. And it would be essential that we be hyper-aware and hyper-mindful today.
Friday, March 23rd – You Talking to Me? – Neptune, Mercury, Venus, Uranus, Pluto. Friday continues with the Gemini Moon with the Moon today square Neptune in Pisces, the Moon sextile Mercury, Venus and Uranus all in Aries. Venus squares Pluto. There can be a great deal of chatter with much of it revolving around Self. People may be far more interested in talking about themselves than conversing. While such an inclination is something of a natural societal tendency in today’s world with few receptive listeners, this liability is accentuated on this Friday. Unfortunately, clarity may be lacking and a propensity for malaprops might be heightened. Where a problem could arise is someone taking offense when no offense was intended. Confusion can be in the air on this Friday, so it would be wise to think first before saying anything. We might have to repeat something we said or phrase it in different ways for someone to truly understand what we said and what we meant. This is a day for us not to get carried away with ourselves but to try and be cordial and diplomatic with other people. No need to create difficulties for ourselves, so let’s be mindful and aware and attentive to our audience.
Saturday, March 24th – Banging Up Against It – Lunar T-Square, Sun, Mars, Saturn. Saturday has the Moon moving into Cancer and triggering a Cardinal Sign T-Square with the Cancer Moon square the Sun in Aries and the Moon opposed both Mars and Saturn both in Capricorn. The Sun squares Mars. We could have a great deal on our plate this weekend, for this Cardinal Sign T-Square is on for today and for tomorrow. If we thought this weekend would allow us to put our feet up and enjoy some relaxing ‘down time’, reality might have a different scenario for us. This weekend can be highly active. Various tasks may demand our attention — errands, cleanups, spring preparations may be all part of our weekend. We do have to watch that we don’t overdo. Not only could we exhaust ourselves. We might also try to do more than we can handle with consequent liabilities of back strain. It would be wise for us to pace ourselves. Let’s not try and do everything today. There’s always tomorrow, and these two days do seem to have us in the thick of dealing with various home and family matters.
Sunday, March 25th – Working Smarter Rather than Harder – Lunar T-Square, Mercury, Pluto, Venus, Lunar Grand Trine, Neptune, Jupiter. This Saturday and Sunday seem prime days to attend to various outstanding matters. Not only may we find a number of different tasks calling for our attention. We could also experience some delays or frustrations as we try to accomplish the many items on our ‘to do’ list. If we didn’t throw out our back yesterday, then we can be back at it, dealing with errands, cleanups and springtime preparations on this Sunday. The Cancer Moon triggered a Cardinal Sign T-Square yesterday and the Moon triggers a Cardinal Sign T-Square today with different players as the Cancer Moon squares Mercury and Venus both in Aries, and the Moon opposes Pluto in Capricorn. As opposed to yesterday, when we might have gone full bore with brawn winning out over brain, this Sunday does allow us to be more effective with less expenditure of energy. We still have the Cardinal Sign T-Square today, but we also have the Cancer Moon triggering a Water Grand Trine as the Moon trines Neptune in Pisces and the Moon trines Jupiter in Scorpio. This is a day when our intuitive sense can be strong and we may have greater foresight and the ability to see the outcome of our efforts. If we have social commitments to have people over, Sunday would be a better day than Saturday, for our home might seem far more together and truly inviting. We may still have a lot to get done, but we’re more likely to pace ourselves on this Sunday compared to our Saturday efforts. Let’s just hope our pacing ourselves on Sunday is not as a result of a blowout that we experienced on Saturday. We have a highly active weekend to close out the week, and we can fully appreciate what we have created by our efforts — a sense of sanctuary on the home front.
